As you know, we do not usually stop to place tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant is included in the category of Modern Indian restaurant.
A lot of selections of Food. Dishes are particularly salty except for the fish curry. I was thinking I should give it another try until I went to the bathroom. I am not sure how clean the food can be when the bathroom is in that condition.
A decent Indian restaurant with average to poor value for your money. Waiting staff was not particularly friendly nor did it make us feel welcome. Inquiries by staff were borderlining rudeness. We did go here once before for an evening function and wanted to return because we liked the food. However, we were thoroughly disappointed by the overall dining experience. We will definitely not return.
Their buffet is delicious! They top it off with North Indian Street food sometimes, which is a treat.
We are regular here and love the variety and quality and taste of all food served during weekend lunch buffet on weekends. For kids under 8..it's only 6 dollars.. which is great.
Nice but expensive, 4% surcharge in addition to tax, tips
Excellent Indian food. Fast, friendly service. Great outdoor space.
Good food. Menu is bit pricey compared to other Indian restaurants in Sunnyvale.
So expensive.. navaratna kurma was without salt and spice..not suitable if u r looking for an indian authentic taste.. i was greatly disappointed by their food taste..
Your prize is really high , can you guyz believe that it's 1 Chicken Tikka masala is 24 dollars & All in bayarea price 9.99 or 11.99
Attended a wedding reception. It can accommodate perhaps 150 people with enough parking. Much more convenient than a reception we attended at Ritz Carlton in San Francisco and more than enough.
We waited a long time for our food
Excellent, polite, and prompt staff — along with food that was delicious. The outdoor seating was lovely. I can't wait to return.
The ambience was nice. We ordered Kadhai paneer, garlic naan and veg biriyani. Kadhai paneer taste was good but it was quite dry. Difficult to eat with naan. Garlic naan was good. Veg biriyani was way too sweet. Manager told that the biriyani over there is usually that sweet only so I wouldn't recommend that. Another negative point is that they included 20% of bill amount as gratuity/tip in the bill itself which i feel is bit too much.
A nice Indian restaurant. Try the butter chicken. #indian #restaurant #chicken #dishes
Over hyped not that great.
Very good food, but too overpriced for me to give them that 5th star. We spent something like $80 for 2 people and it didn't even include rice - to me that's just petty. Despite that I would still return since the food is really nice.
Best Indian food I've had in the bay area, but also some of the most expensive as well.
One of our favorite Indian restaurant. I usually get take out from this place. Price is higher than the places but well worth the quality.
We went for the lunch buffet. Food taste is good and there is a lot of vegetarian options. Their meat options is very limited. Ambience is good with option of outside seating. Nice place for a team outing. if you are looking for a grand buffet this is not one but is definitely among the good ones.
Super slow service.... Smells very bad!!!
Food was terrible for their costly gourmet rates. Curries were bland, no seasoning, no particular taste. The Paneer cubes in Palak paneer curry seemed old & frozen. The poori I ordered was so thick and uncooked. I had some small inedible items (may be stones) in the Pindi Chole curry I ordered. The only item me and my wife liked among 5 items we ordered was Rasmalai. While there are fairly good Indian restaurants around Bay Area which equally priced menu or even less, Amber is far far away from authentic North Indian food. I strongly not recommend this restaurant for Indian food.
It was quite overpriced and the ingredients in the food seemed to be of poor quality
Great food, decent services, great venue for events!
Delicious and awesome service
Excellent authentic food with lots of gluten free options and a staff crew that is super helpful and kind. The variety is amazing. Go here instead of another restaurant every time!
Very good quality authentic Indian food. Fantastic ambience and service.
Good food. Amazing ambience. Not so spicy food.
Well run clean Indian place for parties. They quoted a fixed price per head, and gave us a private area that did not have conventional tables and chairs. Very nicely done for the party. The food was excellent as well, and the bartender made some good mixed drinks.
The place was rather empty. The food was good but maybe the price for a buffet is a bit higher than it needs to be?
Great authentic and tasty food, service needs improvement.
Amazing food and excellent service! Honestly the best Indian food my wife and I have had in the Bay Area! Butter chicken is insane! Very good prices and great quality food. Ambience inside and outside is very nice and great atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
Good food, but the place is difficult to find.
Excellent, tasty, it's my comfort food! Favorites - butter chicken, aloo ghobi, okra, mulligutawny soup, mushroom biryani. The menus differ at the different locations so don't expect the same at other locations.
Good Indian place in Foster City. Ambience is nice and food quality is good too. They have adequate parking. I liked their biryani.
Slightly upscale dining setup. Great for team lunches/ dinners. The portion sizes are really small, so, not the best place if you’re just looking for cheap food. The lassi is great, and they also have kingfisher beer! Good vegetarian options (all the usual North Indian items).
Good Food.
The food was delicious. Great service. The Butter Chicken was out of this world. Definitely recommend.
Place is good, Service is good and food is yummy
Private room downstairs is swanky. Great for privat events or as a corporate meeting space. Food is consistently good.
THE BEST chicken tikka masala. Melts in your mouth. And there service is top-notch
The food was quite good. I sat at the bar. It would be nice if they had a TV available. I usually eat alone and I like to watch sports.
Butter chicken and naan are perfect - service was great!
Weekend buffet. Okay selection, stews we're good. A little pricey, but overall clean and friendly staff
lunch buffet was delicious as usual
Very authentic Indian food but can easily be a bit too much
Favorite Indian restaurant...mostly native diners. Great bar.
Ambience is good. Specious and you will have feel good environment. staff is ok. Food is ok, as usual, nothing special but it is fine. Comparatively over priced.
Mediocre food quality. If you visit 1 hour before their closing time the waiters will start rushing you to order something quick and be impolite. They close about 30 mins before the closing time listed in Google. So if you want to visit this place for some reason, be there 2 hours before the closing time or it won't be a pleasant experience
Clean, but food was sort of okay, not the best
A true gem. My son is a foodie and he brought me here. Everything we tried was superb. The ambiance is lovely, the waiters very attentive, and the prices moderate. I will be back.
The food is always great (love the spinach dish they have) and the service is always excellent but what happened today was a mark of the best service I could have received. I had apparently dropped my wallet outside the restaurant, they had waited for someone to come by (and I hadn't realized yet that I had dropped it). The manager Mr.Ravi drove 20 miles to come drop it off at my address and has to drive another 50 miles back to his home tonight. This was amazing service and kudos to the excellent team you have built!
Good food. Lacking in service.
The food is tasty, service is good and the atmosphere is nice. The patio is a great touch. But the prices are a bit steep. $22.00 for a small bowl of butter chicken and $33.00 for a mixed grill. I just didn't walk away feeling like I got the value for what we paid.
Good Indian food
Delicious food, extremely professional staff, nice atmosphere
the restaurant in nice and quite, however, the food was not quite spicy for me (i enjoy really spicy food). I understand they can not keep Indian level spicy food on the menu but they should ask for preferred spice level while taking the order, so that people like me can enjoy the food. Although, everything we ordered was tasty. I also like their desserts menu, nice variety of options to select from.
it was so fresh. i had a brother come into town and asked me to take him back here. it has a cool atmosphere.
Food was good..Not super awesome. But i liked the ambience. We were in the lounge downstairs. Very comfortable and cozy place.
The lunch was underwhelming for the price and service
Ridiculous pricing for food that was delivered burnt. Couldn’t even eat the food. The gravy oozed of oil and the lachcha paratha was horrendous. Will not suggest this place for anyone who likes tasty Indian food. Plus no rice with entree when you price it so high is definitely not good.
Pretty dang tasty. Atmosphere is family, not too loud. Had Chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan. Really good. Seating is open and nice.
$20 lunch buffet. Every day basically. Nice
The food at Amber India is fresh and delicious. Staff is friendly and courteous. They even plated our food for us! It is a good go-to place for special occasions as it is more expensive than other Indian restaurants in the area.
This place is popular and recommended by my Indian colleagues too. And while there are lots of choices and the taste is quite liked by Indians hence was recommended, I really had better Indian food on other restaurants. The restaurant looks very clean though and quite spacious. It can be a good spot to have dinner meetings if you have to.
Good ambience but not a very good selection of buffet items and sweets as compared to places like sakoon in Mountain View
The food is really tasty, but a little too oily/buttery (I got an eggplant dish.) I love eggplant but like it will a little less oil.
Booked a hall for birthday party, food was good BT it was little cold
Good food.
An elegant dining room, upscale Indian food.
Good Indian buffet but still a buffet
Service was late, expensive
Great ambiance, excellent food and quick service
Very good food
Quality of the buffet has dropped. Some food items were not fully cooked. Naan is still great.
Great service. Wonderful food. Outdoor dining was very nice
Worth every bit of flavor. New location is cleaner and larger, but missing the copper serving dishes. Rather expensive if you don't pay attention to drinks, naan, dishes adding up! Outdoor seating usually empty. Nice bar area although no happy hours here.
Great service and food.
Nice service. Good food- buffet.
Ok decent . Good for a family outing. Has liquor too served
Fabulous buffet lunch. Especially enjoyed the curry fish and the eggplant dishes. Recommended!
Enjoyed a special event on the lower level. The food was Devine!
I have been here multiple times and always had a great experience. And that’s why I chose Amber India to throw a small lunch buffet party for my friends and colleagues. We were a group of 25 people and Aldo arranged our sitting area in the outdoor patio which has heaters, fireplace and umbrellas. Food was excellent. The servers were very friendly and made sure everything went well. In a nutshell, this is one of the classy Indian restaurants with delicious food, pleasant ambiance and a decent sitting. Highly recommend it.
Good food but very limited options in buffet, the price is not justifyable.
Best Indian food in Bay area
Nice buffet and ambience!
Fabulous party and food for new year eve 2019
I been there with my whole family we are about 10 people. On the panipuri section good my cousin sister found a metal pin on her plate. I took the pin and showed to one of the staff. They said ok I will talk to chef. And they never came back to apologize or to speak either. This is insane behavior of the restaurant people. So this is not right.
Amber is considered one of the best places to go for Indian food in the bay area. This particular branch is popular for private parties since they have large private rooms and ample parking. As for the food, butter chicken is Amber's specialty and it certainly does not disappoint. Their rogan josh is not bad either, and while their saffron rice does not have a strong yellow color you can really get a strong saffron taste from it. I didn't particularly care for their Dal Makhani though.
Food was good. Delicious. Price point is on the expensive side. Weird enough, they added gratuity for bill of 2 people. Atleast in Los Gatos restaurant, indoor center seating has lowest lighting possible. It makes it very bad ambience. I felt like we were not in any premium Indian restaurant. Maybe it was a Sunday evening, but they were definitely low on staff members. On top of all this, their own gift card machine was not working, so I had to pay by my CC. The only upside to the visit was the quality and taste of the food.
The tastiest butter chicken I have ever had.
Had a good time with family and friends. The food and ambience was good.
Solid food at an affordable price.
I love this place. Incredible food, service and ambiance. Even if the food and ambiance weren’t great I would continue to visit this place for the service alone. I’ve never been in a restaurant with better service. They immediately made us feel welcome and like regulars. But, don’t worry, best Indian food I’ve had in the Bay Area. Please visit this place often!
Above average food with limited options.
I didn't get a chance to enjoy all the delicious foods on the menu, but the naan is spectacular! And the man at the front desk was pretty cute too :)
Best in town. This is my favorite restaurant to bring visitors from out of town, all leave raving about how great the food is! The atmosphere is comfortable enough for casual visits with friends, but also a choice venue to bring a date. The service is friendly and attentive (without being obnoxious). It's also fairly child friendly. There is no children's menu, but the staff are happy to point out the best options from the full menu, according to what you child likes. Ample indoor seating either in their full dining room or in the downstairs cellar (private dining room), or outdoors on the patio when weather permits. Be sure to reserve your table, this is a popular restaurant.
Buffet not worth the money.
Fantastic food. My favorite Indian restaurant around.
Loved the food. Loved the outdoor ambiance. Extra points for having quite a few yummy vegan options (Usually Indian restaurants tend to add Ghee or butter in the curries).
Undoubtedly the best Indian Food and ambience not just in Bay Area but probably across the US. I tried their Amber dinner. It was hearty, sumptuous and the portion size was so much that it could be sufficient for two.
We had been there for the lunch buffet. The price does not justify the taste nor the spread. It was an average place. We will definitely not go back there.Service was good.
Horrible Overpriced Buffet, Lack of Options, Lots of waiters on deck, but none of them care. - The buffet is 20$ a pop, and 4$ for a basic drink. They won't tell you that the drink is non included in the buffet, but will keep a menu on the table saying "lunch drinks options" which have no prices listed next to any drink, leading you to believe they are a part of the buffet menu (typical black design pattern) - There are no spoons - only forks and knives. On asking the waiter, we never got one. - There were 2 potato appetizers, both were decent, but that was all. There was 'pani puri' which had good tasting 'pani' (liquid), but no filling to put in the puri. Paying 20$ for an Indian Buffet, I expect to have at least ONE meat-based appetizer. - The waiters kept Naans (hot flat-bread) on our table the moment we sat down. By the time we got to our main course, they were cold and hard. I noticed a table away, someone had the same problem, and asked the waiters to replace the Naans that was kept on the table as soon as they arrived. - The non-vegetarian curries (masala chicken, butter chicken, fish curry) were objectively some of the worst curries I have tasted in the Bay Area. Both the butter chicken and fish curry gravy was not at all made well, and you could taste the raw ingredients in them. Everyone on our table left them after a single taste due to how bad they were. The masala chicken looked unappetizing and the taste was in the same ballpark. - Vegetarian curries were plentiful in options and I do not have much to complain about them. Overall they were decent in taste and selection, but nothing stood out to me as 'wow' or even slightly uplifted my mood, after everything else that was wrong with this place. - The waiters barely cared about what we wanted or needed. They would quickly come to pick up our used plates, or to fill up our waters, but any request made to them fell on deaf ears. It seemed like they were trained to quickly replenish water or clear plates, but not much else. Example, when asked for Garlic naan, the waiters brought out a basket of plain naan, without even bothering to explain why there was no garlic. When the waiter came to give the check, I explicitly mentioned we had a bad experience and it was not good at all, he did not even bat and eye, simply walked away (possibly to pick up some other plates or refill water in a record time) - I saw all the comments about the ambience and was hoping to be wowed, but honestly it's as good as any other upscale restaurant in the area, nothing making it worth pushing their lacking food quality under the rug. This is the first buffet I have been to in my life where I did not even finish my first plate of food. It was lacking in all manners, and their uncouth staff made things worse. Seeing the bills and the additional hidden costs added more salt on my wounds. Nonetheless I gave them a generous tip, hopefully one of the swift waiters will become an athletic runner some day. TL:DR DO NOT TRY THEIR BUFFET UNLESS YOU LIKE THROWING MONEY AWAY
Unlike run of the mill Indian restaurants, this is a classy outfit. The food is well presented and the seating area is very nice. The waiters are friendly and efficient.
Great food and ambiance.
All the food is wonderful here. We were surprised how much we loved the seafood curry!
Extremely high priced. We just had dinner at amber India and ended up with diarrhea. No-Go !!!
Zero star very foolish talking on the phone while you order
Expensive place. Only go for ambience. In taste, personally I didn't find anything different from a normal restaurant. May be non-veg dishes tastes better.
The best butter chicken in the US! Have to try to experience the balance of flavours! A repeated customer. Delicious food. Service is always impeccable. Left my credit card there once, manager holds it for me to pick up. Very grateful of such accountability and integrity.
Cannot rate below 1 else would have done that. Hair in food, they offered is free dessert and one serving of bread to make up but still charged full for the order which put us off this place. Not recommended and will not be visiting again.
A nice Indian restaurant. Try the butter chicken. #indian #restaurant #chicken #dishes
Love the food here! The whole experience is always a special treat.
Loved the food. Manager was very cooperative and nice.
I came here for my cousin's sweet 16. It was really well done. The service was amazing. The bartender was super nice and chill and so were the servers. The food was pretty good too. The butter chicken could have been better. But overall, it was a great experience and I would come back.
Nice place with good indian food. Bit pricey!
Regular north indian fare, well prepared. Good service. Pricey of course. Goat cheese nasn is great. Rest of the breads just ok. Spinach naan nothing special.
Ambiance is good by the meats in the curry (lamb and chicken) were super dry, although the taste of the curry itself was good
Had a large group for dinner here. Excellent food. Exceptional service. Everything went flawlessly. New location is much more spacious than old place across the street.
The spread n the taste wasn't worth Sunday buffet price of $20.
Food was mediocre - palak paneer was too garlicky, navratan korma was mostly just peas rather than a mix of vegetables in a creamy sauce that it should have been. All the dishes had too little salt. We had a disappointing dining experience.
We went for a lunch buffet. The main course was fine but the appetizers (especially pani puri) and the desserts were very tasty. The cost for meal of two is approx 50$.
2018 : This Diwali we chose to take our colleagues to Amber ... The front desk confirmed our reservation multiple times. Made sure that the space was available. We were on time, so that did not become a problem. Food quality : superb! Ambience: Excellent. And they also have outdoor space (one we enjoyed a lot) Noise: Little bit. - I would say much less than average. Only one issue: Front desk declined us to pay separately. We had to combine the expenses table-wise. But that was not too much a problem. Recommended? Oh yes ... Definitely!
We attended a birthday party at Amber India. Samosa, veg kabab and karara baigan were very tasty. Overall food and ambience was good!
Good Indian buffet
Always great food, wonderful service.
We went there for a business dinner with about 20 people. They had the private lower level available! It's beautifully decorated, great bar and fantastic bar tender and staff. The apps and dinner were amazing. Some of the best Indian food I've had.
Amazing food.
One of my favorite Indian restaurant in bay area. Nice place and decor. Good vegetarian options. They can work more on their beer menu.
Expensive but good food
No salt in the curry. Ambience and appetizer was good
The key is this: setback. This restaurant is right on El Camino, but is set back so far that the din of traffic is not s problem at all. The patio is going to be a great place when summer really hits. Really friendly team members. We celebrated my wife's birthday here with my daughter. We had the Amber dinner (the two adults) and my daughter had the tandoori salmon. All were lovely. The space is pretty. There's a main dining room with a vaulted ceiling mid-section crossing the length of the main dining area. All in all, a great evening!
We hosted a 60-guest dinner with entertainment and an open bar at Amber's upstairs ballroom. Amber is a class act. The decor is contemporary, accoutrements match, service is top notch, and the food... You could come to Amber just for the food! We will be hosting parties for groups up to 125 at Amber. Our first experience begs an encore!
Loved it! Lovely staff!
Best indian restaurant in mountain view. Costly if you're going alone. i always order assorted veg platter and aloo paratha that cost me 16$
Went there for a buffet lunch. It was quite busy whixh indidates the place is good. The service was good and quick. All the food was very good except the deserts which did not keep up with rest of the things. Overall a good experience.
The food was excellent and the service was even better. The dining area is upscale. The wait staff was very attentive but also let my party of old friends have their space and time to catch up. We had a variety of main dishes, appetizers, and sides. Everything was very good.
Just like any other Indian place nothing special
People are rude and doesn't bother to attend when we arrive, even if they see us waiting for someone to get us seated. Poor Experience
Bad value for money - severely overpriced for the taste and quantities served. Mediocre albeit inoffensive service. Passable ambience.
This place has really good Indian food also very fancy. Be sure to try the fried fish.
There is not negative star ,that's why one star.Quality is really really bad. Definitely not recommending anyone who wants to eat good food.
Went for a birthday dinner. One of the pricier Indian restaurants around. The butter chicken was spicier than expected, but not intolerable. The biriyani was more spicy than that, but not Everest (Restaurant) levels of spicy. When the waiter brought the food they initially served it onto our plates. I think they were trying to present as a fancy restaurant, but plates were balanced against the server's clothing while they placed items on the table (I saw this multiple times with different servers) - that's definitely not sanitary.
Awesome as always...though definitely prices have come sky high
The food was delicious and service was outstanding. Prices were a little higher than expected. Overall, the San Jose location seems to be a little better than this one.
We went for a lunch buffet. The main course was fine but the appetizers (especially pani puri) and the desserts were very tasty. The cost for meal of two is approx 50$.
The best chicken tikka masala and naan! Awesome birthday rasmali with ghulab jamun desert..provided lit candle for my friends birtday..also beautiful outside dining setting with fairy lights, trees, and Mediterranean building design.
Great quality food!
Expensive and food is ok. What got me was the attitude plus the table we sat had floor all sticky with some sugary syrup on the floor that has not been cleaned for ages
Great - had a vegetarian sampler and it hit a he spot.
Their buffet has gone downhill since I last visited a couple of years ago.
Lunch buffet is not too great but okay. Too crowded during lunch make reservations if possible. Parking is also limited during weekdays lunch.
Went for the lunch buffet. It was a good spread. Would've definitely earned 4 stars had the service been more pleasant. The service was prompt but the staff seemed absolutely bored and uninterested.
Great food and ambience. Fantastic for parties
Fantastic lunch buffet
Buffet is in lunch time and it’s $19 or $1 more on sat and Sunday.
Great Indian food, butter chicken wad awesome
The tea was amazing
Very good food, especially the tandoori meats and dal. They accommodated our request to sit outside because we had a dog with us and turned on the heaters. Attentive staff. A bit pricey, but not too bad.
