Excellent food. Sevice started slow but server was always nearby and did an excellent job. She was very well versed in daily specials and knowledgeable in history and awards restaurant had received. Food is well prepared and served with a smile. I recommend the bread pudding. Better than 5 star restaurants that I've tried in the past.

A "summer" evening in October, a beautiful sunset, an aromatic wood fire, and a great guitar duo help color my review, but the food and facts are still the same: 5 Stars! Our server was Blaine (sp?) and she took very good care of us out on the patio. The bread was light and crunchy, the French onion soup was robust and covered in cheese and bread-delicious! The seared walleye filet was light, but flavorful, the rosemary chicken was very savoury. The sides we're a well-cooked baked potato and excellent green beans. I'll try to include a photo of the "sides and desserts" board because there were too many choices to remember. Our dinners we're about $16 each, including the sides, very reasonable for the quality of the food, presentation, service and ambience. We had entertainment from a guitar duo of singer/songwriter Wes Dorethy and "Larry" (how he introduced himself, but a terrific guitarist!) who quietly played and sang for several hours. Even without the view, the 80 degree temperature and the entertainment, the flavors and service earn 5 Stars. Very well worth the 20 minute drive for us. Wonderful!

Randomly found this place while on vacation from Texas. I can't say enough good things. The atmosphere was laid back, the decor was great, everything was clean, the food was absolutely fantastic. Whispering Woods rivals any fine dining establishment I have been to in the DFW Metroplex in terms of food quality, and it has great views of the Ozark's to boot. This place is the definition of a hidden gem.

We were treated well from the moment we walked into the place. The atmosphere is great in the restaurant, along with the food. We ordered the cod sticks as an appetizer, the waitress recommended and we loved. We both had the 14 oz. ribeye (which we highly recommend). We also ordered dessert, a piece of coconut cream pie cheesecake and peanut butter pie...both are the best versions that I’ve ever had of the two, and I’ve got a Grandma that can cook anything (so don’t tell her their pies are better than hers!

As soon as we arrived I felt attitude towards me since I was dining with my three children ages 5,8,9...my mostly well behaved and well traveled children. :) We arrived at 530 on a weekday- prime family dining time. There is no kids menu, which didn't bother us as my kids always prefer the adult choices. I asked my server if my 2 youngest split a meal if they could plate it on 2 plates. ( We were ending a 3 week roadtrip- my youngest was on his last leg and I selfishly just wanted to enjoy a meal where I wasn't dividing meals at the table). She said," no problem." Well we were near the kitchen so was privvy to seeing the chef plated it on one plate. The server asked for it to be split. The chef was curt and rude to her insisting he would do no such thing. The server started splitting our meal herself when the owner came over- grabbed the meal from her, snapped at her and went back behind closed doors with the plates. It was very unprofessional. My children watched the whole thing unfold. Had the server told me sharing and plating a meal was frowned upon I wouldn't have insisted. The poor server was just trying to please us and was scolded for it. The owner visited and chatted up every other table but ours- an observation by my 8 yo. I travel often with my children. We dine. They enjoy good quality food. It was 530 on a weekday, totally appropriate time for kids to be out. My kids felt the unwelcomed vibes which was too bad because the views were amazing and the food even better. If nothing else it was a wonderful teaching experience for me to discuss with my children.

I love love love this place! Great chef! It's a little pricey, but food is really good. Staff is friendly and attentive. I always get the rib eye, and is always cooked to perfection, although my friends have other things and rave about it. Try the banoffee pie! Omg, it's wonderful!

Went to Whispering Woods for an impromptu dinner date. The dining area was perfect for a night out. Low lights, wood tables, and a fantastic view. I got a chicken with wild rice, because it was a gluten free option. The chicken was a bit salty but still good. My husband got the steak sandwich, he really liked it. We shared a half carafe of a pinot grigio which was lovely. The menu had clear allergen warnings and many options for gluten and dairy free diets.

My anticipation was high but after being served my Reuben sandwich, I realized my experience was going to be dashed. Not only was my Rueben over toasted to the point of unable to bite into the bread but 3 others in our party experienced the same inferior food. I'm assuming that the cook was having an off day or this is how all of their Reubens are served. Very disappointing! All the others served at our table were pleased with their selections but the Rueben was the worst one I'd ever eaten.

Great food, wonderful view. Be sure to use parking lot across the road from the resturant there's really only parking for about five cars near the restaurant and no way to back out, it's tricky.
