The people working at the restaurant are good at getting meals out to customers. The Sushi Chef, Ethan was great at creating fine sushi. The negative would be the aroma at the sushi bar, which needs to be more customer friendly. There were folks who moved from the sushi bar, due to the odor, and constant traffic of wait staff leaving the kitchen area. We will continue our regular visits to Sumo, but believe some elements need reassessment by the proprietor (s).

We have eaten here, several times, since moving to Russellville last year. This place is by far the best sushi restaurant in town! We are from SoCal, so we are used to high-end sushi bars. Our 10 year old loves the crab rolls and my wife and I always order the teriyaki chicken, which is amazing! You get plenty of food, for the money, and it comes with soup and salad. I would have given it 5 stars, but the staff here is stretched quite thin and it's difficult to get your server to check on you. Other than that, we highly recommend it as a must visit.

A very fun experience! Me and my grandparents went during lunch time and sat at the hibachi grill. The food was delicious and the chef was funny and the server was really sweet. An awesome experience and will definitely come back

I went here and really enjoyed myself. They have a grill at the table The chef then cooks shrimp then tosses to people sitting at the table. The meal was very good and for a hibachi a good choice. The chef put on a good show. This is a food place where the leftovers are worth carrying out.

I've been wanting to try this place and I finally did. Well I was very disappointed. Service was bad, we waited an hour for our food (it was 1 on a Monday). And after waiting so long our food came out cold and over cooked.

The carpet sticky when you walk in. We went on a Sunday had lunch sit at the Hibachi Bar for 45 minutes before our chef showed up. Once he arrived he was awesome and the food was good. However it took entirely too long. We spent an hour and 45 minutes when we only had 45 minutes. No discount was offered and for six of us the bill ended up costing $150.

My FIRST time here! Food was awesome! staff was great! They helped my brother embarrass me, for my birthday, beyond his satisfaction! Wonderful environment! Service was weak, food was just so-so. It started with the server getting our order messed up. Most every hibachi grill I have ever been to was food and entertainment. Entertainment here was somewhere around a 2. It wouldn't have felt like such a $70.00 ticket loss had the food been on par with other restaurants like it. I will probably never go back. I would rather spend more money on gas and make the drive to Conway and spend it at Fujis.

OK so we made dinner reservations for 7 o'clock for a big group we sat down we didn't get our drinks till 30 minutes later we did not get any appetizers till about an hour later our dinner was served an hour and a 1/2 later the service was poor The manager was absolutely rude and hated her job Every time we ask for something she rolled her eyes with an attitude we did get a 15% discount on our bill but that was not even worth it...Need a different service Manager for sure no one knows what they are doing there anymore and we used to love going here but not no more absolutely poor poor experience

I would like to rate my experience at sumo as terrible. Let me explain. First of all the food was good and always is, but everything else was pretty ruff. After my family was seated we waited 45 min for the chef to show up, We have two small kids and that is a challenge. Our waiter forgot to put our order in, or “a glitch in the system”. Another table was seated after us and finished their meal before our chef showed up. The Chef was unaware one of the guest had a shellfish allergy, and I know he told the waiter his situation. Manager comped some free Crab Rangoon’s for the wait. Makes since right? Also where we were seated was next to the back room and there was very cold air coming out of there. Our entire table complained about the air but the staff kept going in and out leaving the door open. I guess that is the only place they can roll silverware and play on there phones including the manager. One guest at the table kept having water drip on her pants from somewhere under the table also. The entire table was very dissatisfied.We were given 30% off our ticket for our troubles.

We have ate here before and it was good but tonight was far from it. I got the chicken Tempura. Everything was greasy. I pushed on one of the sweet potatoes and the grease oozed out. Chicken was just as greasy. I could only eat one piece. Husband’s was the same. If we had not been with a party I would have sent it back. My daughter said her meal was far from the normal meal that you would get here. She was not happy either. Went from Sumos to Taco Bell.

Cute interior. But the food...just no. Guess I should have known better than to order Pad Thai at a Japanese restaurant...was very salty and had no discernable peanuts, sprouts, eggs, lime etc just one big beige soft textured mess. Noodles we're good but this is not Pad Thai. What they call "onion soup" is what general sushi restaurants call "clear soup" but in any case tasted like new leather smells. Their ginger dressing is mayo based, which I found odd, but had good flavor. Salad was iceberg lettuce ONLY. We opted for the "spicy" Edamame ... which was overcooked and slathered in a greasy seasoning mixture. Flavor was all right but kind of a weird way to do Edamame. All in all not bad for "Arkansas Japanese" but I wouldn't go back again.

I'm so glad I finally was able to visit this location. I'm usually in a hurry (similar to today), but I decided to go ahead and check out what's to offer. After I picked out my to go order online, I proceeded to the restaurant from the Pilot down the road. Even though I was told it would be 25 minute wait, I was out in 10 minutes total time. The fried calamari sticks were excellent compared to rings, while the crawfish and Philly rolls tasted as if they were freshly made with every piece used. Neither one of the rolls had a piece that seemed near throw away date or not properly refrigerated. This experience has me wanting to come back for a sit down meal to truly enjoy what the chef's here at Sumo have to offer. Thank you for the experience.

My family was taking a weekend trip to the mountains for Labor Day weekend. We decided to stop here for dinner, and really enjoyed the experience. There's a choice between the Hibachi side or the dine-in side. We chose the dine-in side and ordered some interesting looking sushi: Black Dragon Roll, Green River Roll, American Dream, and Rocky Mountain Roll. Each roll was delicious, and as usual we all shared and tried some of each roll. If your family is into sushi, you should definitely stop in and try this place. The price is in the middle range for most restaurants. Average prices for pretty great food, and our server, Coleton, was excellent.

Nice restaurant on the inside. Ample seating for hibachi, not so much for dine in only. Prices are high, even for lunch. Lunch portions are considerably smaller. Dinner comes with noddles, and enough food to take home for lunch the next day. Sushi options are limited. There’s a grate between the two grills, and the two tables, that was covered with food and trash our entire dinner. They came and cleaned the grill, and I kept hoping they would sweep/clean it up, but they never did. It bothered me and distracted me from my meal. My seat was on the end right next to it, so no one else was bothered by it.

My family and I went to this restaurant to celebrate Father's Day and the food was terrible, the air conditioning did not work, the waitress was EXTREMELY RUDE to my Dad (on Father's Day), we waited 15 min just for an initial greeting and our drink order, and it took 4 tries to get our drink order right. We only ordered sodas and waters, nothing special. When we asked about possibly turning the air temp down the waitress said, "Well you know this is a hibachi restaurant so the grills produce heat and it's also hot outside so **insert eye roll**". We were sitting in the dinning side of the restaurant and there's no excuse for an 85 degree restaurant. When my Dad asked about possibly getting a refil on his water whenever the food finally arrived she told him, "Well it's going to take me a while." She then around the corner, sits down, and gets on her phone. We've eaten here before this incident but will NEVER be returning again. We paid over $150 for a sub-par meal and service that is only comparable to McDonald's.

Staff is attentive and eager to please. The grill at the table and show is always fun. I sometimes stop in on a on Tuesday just for the $2 tap beer and some fried squid. (Tell them to fry it lightly!). Sushi Rolls are always good here....ask the server what they recommend.

It wasnt horrible, but compared to my hometown HanaYori I dont think I will be too excited to return. Our cook soaked the food in TeriYaki (even my over cooked lobster.) The other cooks didnt do that and they were also alot more showman like. Without my glass of wine and the sweet little boy that made friends with my son it would've been less bearable. Like I said it wasnt horrible... the glass of Moscato was tasty clean at least! I would've had a second if the waitress had bothered to ask...

Lunch "deal" was a terrible waste of money. I got the lunch portion of hibachi steak and received *literally* 1 piece of broccoli, 4 slivers of carrots, 2 mushrooms, and a couple of onion slices for my vegetables. It was pathetic. I have been to dozens of hibachi places around the country and I have never received such a small, pathetic serving of vegetables on my plate. A woman at my table was also visibly upset at the lack of vegetables on her plate. We will not go back. Terrible value.

Had lunch here with my daughter and left wishing I had eaten somewhere else. Our appetizer was crab rangoons and the wrapper around them was thick and a bit rubbrry but the filling was good. My sushi was mostly rice. It had one teeny piece of fish in the middle with a hard chunk of what I suspect was egg and crab meat on top which was really the only good part of the entire roll. The sauce they poured over the top was Extremely spicy. I left more than half my sushi on my plate and I Never do that. Atmosphere was nice, restaurant was clean and wait staff were great. Maybe the chef was having a bad day?

we usually eat at sumos and dine in. but don’t order to-go because you will be HIGHLY disappointed. you will pay the full price as you would if you dine in, but none of the food is seasoned. the chicken is just grilled it doesn’t have the sauce on it neither does the veggies. the rice is dry and also has no seasoning or sauce. i will not be ordering to-go again. i was very disappointed in Sumos because we love them so much

This place is your average habiti resturant. My girlfriend and I went on a Wednesday nite, it was slow. I have never has fried noodles with fried rice at any other habiti grill. Who needs all that starch.The meal was just ok. For 50 bucks I could have had a better dinner at a drive up restaurant plus we do not drink. I would not recommend this place.

Sumo used to be my boyfriend and I's favorite place to eat whenever we visited Russellville. There was great food, a welcoming enviroment, and excellent service. However, our past few experiences there have been very disappointing -- namely due to one female server we keep getting. During our last visit there where my family took me for my birthday, she gave off a rude, pompous air from the minute we sat down. She also constantly complained about a back injury she had gotten some time ago, which she brung up especially whenever bringing us our food, and how doing so was a huuuge pain for her. But I think the worst is when she brought a member of our party his drink order. She spilled a quarter of it into her cupped hand on the way over, then promptly told him to take it from her "before [she] spilt more". Instead of simply setting it on the table right in front of her, she promptly handed it over to him so she could empty her hand onto the floor. He then spilt all of it onto himself and the table, due to his perpetual hand tremors. She saw this happen and simply walked away, complaining more about her wet hands. I think in this situation a replacement drink and, at the very least, an apology were in order, but instead we just got an empty glass that cost us $7. It's truly sad when a place with such good food should suffer due to incompetent staff, but that seems to be the case here. I doubt we'll be going again after that last time.

Hit or Miss! When it's great, it's fantastic! The food is great, the grill chefs are friendly and the environment is unique to this sort of restaurant. Today was great! Best hibachi chicken I've ever eaten. The noodles and rice were salty and delicious. The chef is a veteran of happened cuisine and knew how to make the experience very positive. Last visit, the chicken was not very well sauced and was very undercooked. The noodles were oily and the rice was just average. The chef went through the same cheesy script they normally do. It's all about the chefs and whether they are more interested in putting on a show, rushing to another table, or paying attention to the quality of their food. Today's visit ring every bell. The waitress did a good job, the chef did good. The food was well cooked. The atmosphere was very nice, and the room wasn't too crowded. The lunch special is, definitively, the best bang for your buck. The same meal that costs $6.95 at lunch time skyrockets to $12.95 (or maybe $14.95) at dinner. ProTip: Leave your coat in the car. Your clothes can carry the smell for HOURS. It's not a knock against Sumo, it's the nature of many dining establishments. I give this four stars because even though THIS trip was great, they remain inconsistent in producing the same delicious meals each time.

If you're looking for a great family experience this is the place. The food's great qualities great. Now the Hibachi chef we got he was pretty good then most I've seen I think he could have done a little better of a job splitting the portions. And I believe the seating should be a little more accommodating to larger families. Do I recommend this place yes I highly recommended if you're planning do you have a gathering with your family any day of the week but especially on a good Friday Saturday or Sunday.

Business is ran poorly with customers and employees. There are leaks from the ceiling, mildewed carpets spots, and every time I have waited or ate in dine in the food is either cold or not cooked enough. There are always employees screaming and cussing in the back loud enough for children to hear what the employees really think before they show their face to the customers. Most of the chefs are thrown out in front of a grill without any training or care for the customers. Not worth anyone’s money. Next time I am craving a Japanese Steakhouse, I am going to drive past, hit the interstate, and go to Conway Fuji’s.

This is a great place with a good atmosphere. The Hibatchi side is fun and the chefs put on a good show. I normally eat on the dining side though. Their sushi is excellent and they have a list of sushi rolls that are not on the menu they will let you order from if you know to ask for it. I highly recommend the Oh Em Gee (OMG) and the highland roll. Both are great.

The food was decent, however they did not prepare enough for everyone at the table. The chef was not funny or excited he just repeated a few lines that you could tell he was tired of saying. The vegetables were 80% onions, very little broccoli or anything else. The Unami we have Went to in town is MUCH better as is the Japanese place in Conway.

Will not be back. We arrived at 7:00 on a Friday night. The waitress took entirely too long to get our drinks to us and then informed us there were only two cooks that night... I had to ask for a spoon for my soup and the server explained they didn't have any clean spoons, so would a to go spoon work? The cook arrived without food ingredients, we had to wait, by this time my spoon arrived and soup is cold....cook does his thing, we eat, pay and LEAVE.

It's over PRICED, and dishes are very nasty it's like they just rinse and reuse... waitress was rude and slow, it seems like 20 minutes after she took our drink order to come back to take our dinner order and still didn't bring us our drink's... so when she asked us what we wanted to order, I said very politely that we would like to be seated elsewhere ... so we sat at the bar and bartender was very nice.... Still spent 80 bucks with tip, way over PRICED not going to be back....

It smelled funny for some reason the floor was really sticky . we cannot sit where we wanted even though it was an empty table and we ordered fried rice . And the cook was throwing raw zucchini in my family's mouth and I noticed that it was touching the raw chicken and shrimp not sure how healthy that was . We didn't get sick though . The food was still really good and that's why I gave it 2 Stars .

The hibachi chef was terrible. He divided a fried rice into wrong portion. We needed to eat smaller portions of meal than others (Almost half size of other one’s meal even though we paid same bill.) He overcooked chicken and vegetables. It was too chewy and dried. He poured yumyum sauce too much while he was cooking shrimps. Too salty, dried, chewy food mixed with yumyum sauce. I wasted my money. Unpleasant experience.

It is a very standard Sushi and steakhouse restaurant Japanese style with the chefs who do all the entertaining tricks on the hibachi grill. It is about average for that kind of food but average Japanese is generally above average for other restaurant types. Nothing special but the Sushi is of the expected quality and the chefs and staff are friendly and work hard. It is really hard to get 200 words but if I do I am closer to my merit badge lol. Honestly I am bored with the knife flipping and onion volcanoes but kids like it. It is great entertainment for kids. They rarely if never seem to have non menu items such as yellow tail cheek. It has a full bar and the drinks are not bad. If you want to get seriously good drinks that are well poured you need the alcoholic bar tender who knows what he or she is doing like at Fat Daddy's or Buffalo Wild Wings. There is a lady at both places who make great whiskey drinks and know how to pour. The drinks at Sumo are certainly adequate. They have several types of Sake. Am I at 200 yet? I certainly hope so because I just don't think a good review requires 200 words but Google seems to think so and they make the rules

Food is good but I don't like that they took the noodles out of the lunch special. I know how inexpensive noodles are I don't think they were losing much profit if any at all from having them in the dish. Could also stand to have more zucchini and broccoli in the vegetable mix and less onion

This place used to be nice...it's gone downhill the last 6 months...I've got sick 3 times here..you'd think I'd learn my lesson..well I have now.....until they change management. ...

I have not done the Hibachi, but did go for the dine in lunch, more than enough food for 2, sushi has been great. Service is good as well, very clean and nice. I have no clue as to why the others rated so low. I have been here several times......

The food was great. I'm not sure if we were there on a bad night or of this was typical, but the service wasn't great. They were out of ice, and served us hot drinks. There were several tables around us who were seated, got their food, paid and left before we even got ours. We had waited long enough that another waitress in the area stopped to check on us because she noticed we had been there for a while.

I have to say service is good, but the food is not that good. Out of the 6 asian restaurants in the area. I would say it maybe 5th best. For it to be compared to Umami is crazy. Umami blows it out of the water.
