I am a repeat customer here but this first time I have eaten here in 3 or 4 years. With that said...I felt the service just as good as ever, the food however was not. I really love BBQ with "Pulled Pork" being one of my favorites...The Pulled Pork I was served just was not up to the quality I expected from Ed's... I am not saying that it was bad, the thing is when you have served "Great"... Serving "OK" BBQ is several steps down. The Baked potato was under cooked and hard... The salad was not as good as the ones I get from Wendy's... I am not sure why but Ed's seems to be "Slipping"... I hope that this review will help them, I really like Ed's but the food I got last visit was just not good enough.

What the hey! I am a self proclaimed BBQ lover. This is only meant to help and improve. Stopped in on a long drive from Little Rock... The jumbo sandwich was " small "... Make it " jumbo " .... The fries had hard spots and tasted old reheats from the day before.... The beans, 3 scoops from a spoon and your done ??? I am leaving still hungry.... You should never leave a BBQ restaurant still hungry. Please take note and improve as I am a big fan.

Stopped here on our way through. We rolled the dice and boy was it a good pick. Next Branson trip you bet ill be stopping by. I absolutely loved the Brisket. Was well worth the stop. Great staff as well. Clean bathrooms and clean restaurant all together. I cant wait for the next time i stop.

Customer service was okay. There was a gentleman there who let me know I had tissue on my face, so that was nice. Imagine my surprise when I ordered ribs and they came out in under 5 minutes. Very fast service! One problem...The pork ribs were old and tough. I’m not sure why they didn’t think I would notice. The meat didn’t fall off the bones. The meat stuck to those bones firmly. The ribs didn’t even have the thin film taken off. Even the ribs I cook in my oven are superior to their ribs today. How can you give me old tough ribs then have someone ask me how the food is? I’m insulted. Get it together Penguin Ed’s.

I asked my computer to point me to the best BBQ in Fayetteville and Penguin Ed's came up. My computer was mistaken. The restaurant is cool, but the chopped beef sandwich I ordered was dry as a bone and completely devoid of any flavor that would've hinted at it ever being in the proximity of smoke. My first clue should have been that it was served on Texas toast....any BBQ I would consider good would soak through that slice of bread before it ever got to the table. I will allow that I might have been there on an off day, and I am spoiled by having recently lived in Dallas, where first rate BBQ is pretty common, but the 1/2 of a chopped beef sandwich I was able to choke down was just awful, so awful I couldn't eat the rest.

Penguin Ed's has different " side potatoes" at each of the different restaurants ! I think that is a neat way to be able to make all different kinds - - Everything any of my family have ever ordered and eaten here - * it is always delicious! You get to choose and add regular BBQ sauce or Hot BBQ sauce AT the table - great BBQ ! Love it!

Getting worse every time I go (this will prob. be the last). Got sick off improperly cooked ribs. In addition ribs are hard, chewy, and you have to fight to get any meat off them.

Excessively Meh. Bbq lacked a smoky flavor, honestly the chicken tasted as though they popped to Walmart before the shift and grabbed a rotisserie. Sauce was okay, honestly what grossed me out was the large grissle/potentially bone piece i removed from my meal. Overall for the price, not worth it at all. Will not be back.

Stopped by for the first time while visiting family. Prices are decent and food was okay. The huge cookies were by far my favorite part! Came in last minute with a group of 10 with no problem or wait. Self serve drink station which is very nice and overall pretty clean.

I left here still quite hungry. The home fries (LARGE cubed potatoes, roughly golf ball size) that were cooked were pretty good but most of them were undercooked due to their size. The beef brisket was more marbled fat than meat, parts of it looked like reptile skin and tasted about as good. The sauce was okay but even drowning the meat didn't quite make it good. The toast tasted like it had butter flavored cooking spray on it and was gross. Then when my wife pulled a chunk of fat and gristle the size of a lighter out of her chicken baked potato we decided it was time to leave. We had high hopes with plans to return but that was quickly dashed by one experience.

We stumbled upon Penguin Ed's while on vacation just outside of Fayetteville. We're from KC, so we are well acquainted with good BBQ. I truly believe that if Penguin Ed's were to open up in KC, they would fare very well. The brisket was melt in your mouth tender, the smoked chicken was to die for, smoked sausage was sliced thin and smoked to perfection, and all the sides we tried paired well. (Gotta love that fried okra) As fantastic as the BBQ was, the scene stealer were their homemade fried PIES. Freshly fried while you waited - crispy perfection on the outside, decadent filling on the inside. And a quick note about staff and service: servers and waitresses were quick with refills and attentive, restaurant was clean and had the nice, laid back atmosphere of all of my favorite BBQ joints. If we're ever in the area again, we will definitely revisit Penguin Ed's.

I ordered wings, ribs and number 8. The food was horrible. Their side are pricey and small portions. The meat was tough and dried. I call and told them. They only sent a 15 dollars voucher but I spent over 30 dollars. Then I call to tell them and Never received a phone call. I was very disappointed in them. I'm from close to Memphis. They're no way near a barbecue restaurant. I never go back.

I stopped by and got the Sunday special. Meatloaf meal. Very reasonable priced. Only complaint is that mashed potatoes were instant and not mixed well. Dry, not enough water, also, no extra seasoning to them. Everything else was good. The staff was super nice and friendly.

I ordered the meal with 2 meats, 2 sides and two drinks. The meat was good and juicy and a little sweet. The "hot" bbq was a little light but I like spicy; the potatoes fries are ok they are thick cut. The time I came was low flow of customers and the food was delivered to my table in a timely manner. Ordering/menu as you walk in to the establishment, down fall is closing out tab and wanting more beer. Staff has been very professional but did not check on if anything was needed or if everything was ok.

I've eaten here for years and they're always on point. The cookies are incredible and the meats are all tasty and done right. I can't recommend more highly for a casual lunch or dinner. Not fine dining as this is supposed to be a BBQ shack! Try the Neiman Marcus or peanut butter cookies for sure!

I remember the portions being bigger years ago, but still a solid bbq restaurant. The meat was succulent and tasty. The bbq sauce was delicious. The season on the home fries and the preparation for the mac and cheese was delightful. The atmosphere is full of penguins and gives everyone the old school food service feel. The employees were very attentive and polite.

The mac n cheese was bland and pasta salad was very dry (I could tell just by looking at it when I opened it). After tipping 20% on my Togo order, I asked two different girls if they could keep my food warm while waiting, roughly 10 minutes, for my sisters potato and pork to be done and they ended up leaving it in the window. Needless to say, I had to microwave it.

Pretty disappointed this time actually. We have always visited this location because it is usually the best, but this time not so much. First, they got the order mixed up: had my meats on my friend's gluten free plate and vice versa. Also, it didn't occur to the cook not to put bread on the gluten free plate. Lol. No problem, they took it back and fixed it. But then they forgot her side dish, and it took nearly half an hour for them to make it for her. The food was tasty when we finally got it all though.
