I was visiting my mom from North Carolina and we went to old south for lunch their homemade potato soup was amazing and they have fried okra. Homemade pie! It's a very nice southern restaurant with good food!!

We made a special trip to visit this place and it was well worth it. The staff was friendly and the building was amazing (I enjoy art deco style buildings) and the historical significance of this last if it's kind establishment is inspiring. The food brought back found memories of my childhood with classic southern dishes served by a friendly waitress that was as down home as the diner. I left with a full belly and a smile.

My last three visits were disappointing, and today was the worst experience of them all. 25 minutes after ordering, my hamburger arrived looking like it was dropped on the plate from the sky. I reassembled it with the cheese pieces (not melted), onions, lettuce and tomato laying alongside the meat. The bun was smashed flatter than toast and on the grill long enough to be 'crunchy'. What has happened to my favorite diner?

One of the best restaurants I have ate at. I have eaten here almost daily for lunch since finding this gem. Great homemade lunch specials daily. Not in the mood for lunch, try the omelet. I haven't had anything yet that didn't taste like southern goodness.

Greasy spoon dinners went out of style in the 1970s, but this place works hard to keep that trend alive. It's like if Denny's stopped smoking and didn't raise prices to support a drinking problem. If you like that weird sense of small town nostalgia, or find comfort in a place that seems anachronistic, then you might like Old South. Not my style, but it appeals to its demographic well.

Eat here if you want great food and great service! I was passing through town and saw this place, just had to stop. I'm a sucker for a place with a lunch counter. I walked in and out felt like I went back to the sixties. The decor is out of a bye gone era. I was greeted by a waitress that didn't write anything down and nailed my order, my coffee never got warm and was kept full. The food was a traditional breakfast. Eggs were perfect, sausage was excellent and biscuits were excellent. Price was cheaper than I thought. I read where this place is on the national register and I couldn't be happier, we need more places like this. Thanks to all the staff for a great visit and I will be back when I'm in town. Thanks!

True to its name, the fried chicken and fried okra were excellent. The staff was polite and despite a high volume of customers, the service was prompt. The interior is nothing fancy, but is tastefully decorated with memorabilia from decades gone by. Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

Maybe they have other items on the menu worth bragging about, but I'll never know! The taco salad is what I always order there, and I see no reason to try anything else! The waitresses are professionals, the taco salad is the best, the atmosphere of the old building is second to none! It's a place that ya just have to go to sometime.

Beans are made from scratch but not the potatoes or gravy. So I had a baked potato but it tasted old. The catfish seemed a little undercooked. Service is good and the manager seemed like an honest, good guy. I would give it another chance. The breakfast I had there once was good.

A local favorite that has stayed true to it's roots. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere and variety on the menu. It is great that there is a selection of side dishes and daily specials. The BLT was a perfect choice on a hot summer day. Super friendly service and the prices were family friendly. The burgers looked great so I know what I will order next time.

What a great place old style diner up front with a large dining hall in the back. Service was great and the food was outstanding. My wife and the chicken fried steak and I had the chicken tenders. The chicken tenders were the best I have had anywhere looking forward to a return trip to try out more of their excellent southern cuisine.
