Game Over

This place has always been very good. Today i went in to eat with family, and the price was 45 $ for 3 adults. Wow price has changed since last i came. Food was still good .The restaurant was clean and staff were friendly. Other than price. I like and would recommend.

Furrs offers a large variety of different types of food so each time is a new experience. I enjoy the many types of fish that is always available and always fresh and cooked well. The wait staff is usually friendly and helpful. My last visit wasn't as pleasant as usual and really has me 2nd guessing returning. The food is great. Prices are very good.

The food is decent but the restaurant is filthy. The floor is a mess and the tables, chairs and buffets feel dirty. I shutter to think about what the kitchen must look like. The restrooms never seem to receive adequate care. If they would just clean the place up, they would get 5 stars from me.

Everything on menu was top notch but, steamed broccoli. It was overcooked and no longer bright green. Dessert options seemed to cater to children and on the cheap side. One item out of over a hundred are really good odds. Everyone on staff was super nice. I was always offered refills. I would definitely go back. It is rare to find a buffet with such healthy options that does not leave large numbers of items out for days, making meats tough and very salty.

The food was very disappointing. Dried up meat. The food is bland. Many things looked like they had been sitting for hours. Any bread product was hard. I thought i was going to chip my tooth biting into a churro. It is also way overpriced. $13 dollars for food that you cant eat. It came out to 15 dollars a person. I only ate mashed potatoes and gravy and a part of a salad. I could have went next door to Texas Road House and got a steak with some sides for a couple bucks more.

Had high Hope's to eat dinner at restaurant. Since it had been a long time not eating there. Sat down and wanted steak. Asked for cook if they we're frying steaks. Cook came out with bad attitude and just threw steak on grill with out asking how I like cooked. I'd probably go somewhere else for steak.

I love Furr's I have been dining here since I was a child without any issues, but my last experience was quite odd for my mother and I.We ordered two dr. Peppers and I told her mine tastes strange and she said salty I said yes that's it it's very salty! I don't know if our drinks were tampered with but someone was always sitting at the table watching our toddlers while we got up and got food so it wasn't any other dining guests! I'm not sure if the staff is tampering with the drinks but it was just odd! I had got home and told my husband what happened and he said yeah employees do that to the customers, I have never experienced this before but I guess it's a thing!

Valentine's Day surprise! We weren't expecting it, but our meal was free because we have been married over 50 years. Great perk for seniors. We are regular customers, and this was the best experience we've had at the San Mateo location. The food was great! The salad was fresh, the baked fish was moist and perfectly seasoned, and the red enchiladas were very tasty. Didn't have any dessert, but it looked good. The service was excellent today. Excellent job Furrs!!

I was very disappointed of the cleanliness in this restaurant. All the tables were sticky. I moved to several different tables however they were all in the same condition. The carpets were sticky as well. This restaurant is in need of good Management. I was also very disappointed of the price. I can't believe how expensive it was. Not only did my family eat at a dirty place but we also got over charged to eat at a dirty table. Thank goodness for hand sanitizer wipes. The cashier was an older woman and greeted us with a rude attitude. I plan to never go back unless I find out it's been remodel and under new management.

Growing up, I loved eating at the Central & San Pedro location (R.I.P.). But I've honestly eaten Furr's only a handful of times in the last 15 years because I keep forgetting how much I don't care for it. It's changed. Today, I wanted to take my mother out to eat and we decided to go to Furr's. The service is fine, but my God the food was terrible! EVERYTHING I tried today tasted like warmed up left-overs. Hard biscuits, stale waffles & French toast, and the food itself seems like it's the cheapest they could get in bulk. I feel like I could get a better meal from McDonald's at a better price too. Furr's has become prison quality food. I miss the old Furr's!

This was never the best buffet but it was consistently good. Until recently, I don't know if they got new chefs or what the deal is but nothing tastes the same anymore ... inconsistent. The only thing that Even taste remotely like the old furrs is the "famous chop steaks". I miss the days of the line buffet it made Furr's Unique.. Now it's like every Buffet but with sub par food, at best. Front Staff and servors have been their for a good amount of time and are friendly, they remember regulars. They are probably the best thing about this place currently..

3 dollars for a 32 oz. Coke. Fried chicken cold and dry, liver & onions was tough and cold. Mashed potatoes are dangerously over salted, more salt than potato. Clean resturant and friendly wait staff, just bad food. I could have taken my 30 dollars and my wife to tacos for life and had a great dinner for less. Never going to Furrs again. One and done.

The price is fair considering the buffet. The food stations were so so some were kept up some were not. The quality of food was decent though. The salad bar was kept cool and all the vegetables were fresh. The tables however were very dirty and cluttered. I came in after lunch and there were numerous tables with plates and dishes stacked on them or if they had been picked up the tables were still excessively dirty from leftover food or trash. I would probably try again as it's not a bad establishment

Carlos our server was on top of it and provided us service with a smile which is exceptional and a rarity these days. Popular among the elderly crowd. For me the value here is that this place has tons and tons of vegetable choices, which are increasingly difficult to find at any restaurant. For meat-eaters looking for a respectable amount of vegetables with their meal at a low price, this is the place. Three stars for the quality of the food, an extra star just because sometimes you need to veggie load, and this is a good place to do that. There's a very wide range of food available, so you can carbo-load if you want to, or you could do keto if you want to. Up to you. Don't expect anything fancy, it's more like a big school cafeteria only with a very wide range of buffet-type food.

We just cannot believe how Furr's had to stop the cafeteria method that they used for Generations. Once they change to the buffet type we were never really impressed. It was just pretty good. We stopped going for years and now we went back for Thanksgiving. Our whole family were so disappointed. We cannot believe that the chicken fried steaks could not even be should because they were so full of Gristle. The hamburger steaks were pure dry. Nothing like Furr's used to be. The jalapeno cornbread changed. It used to be the best in the nation. There were some things that were good but not much. We want it to become a cafeteria again and get rid of the buffet. The price is ridiculous. The cafeteria used to be so much fun and reasonably priced. It was our go-to for after church on Sundays. What wonderful memories we had at Furr's Cafeteria.

I normally go to the location on Wyoming and Menaul. I was in the area with my family and decided to stop in for a bite at the San Mateo location! The service there was absolutely horrible our waiter didn't give us our drinks till almost 15 minutes into the meal! We tried to go up and get our drinks are self and the waiter said that he would be right with us which was not true at all.. to top things off there was a gentleman that kept getting up and lit a cigarette by the exit of the establishment and then put it out numerous times.. our table smelled like stale cigarette smoke for the remainder of our meal I will never go back to this location! Go to the location on Wyoming this location is very dirty and is not up to par with the location on Wyoming!

It was good. $17 for a lunch buffet including a drink plus a couple dollars for a tip. It was kind of crowded when I was there other guest behaved hangry & savage. I think my waitress got off work half through my meal, de cashier stood there gossiping about 5 minutes to other employees & waited another 5 minutes looking around like it wasn't her job staring at de other cashier tending a group before she hailed me forward. I did not know where to find a fork; would have been nice of de cashier or waitress to point it out without a hunt & I would have liked de cashier to offer me de steak special as I was unaware never being there before. A strange elderly man harassed me at my table. Nobody made a scene though it wasn't my cup-of-tea. Waitress kept my soda pop full though my Dr. Pepper suddenly tasted like coke or asprin-y I assumed de syrup was low or de ice watered it down. De new waitress offered de tables around me coffee who seemed be regulars I guess that's why she skipped my invitation. Everyone was basically nice though. A few kitchen staff asked if I was looking for something.

After a long busy filled week, my family and I decided to dine out for dinner. I was satisfied with the service, price, and the food. My children had a variety of selection to choose from especially when it came to the desserts. I had roast beef with brown gravy, a baked potato, steamed vegetables, a roll, and a slice of apple pie for dessert. Overall, my food tasted home made and I cannot wait to visit again.

Furr's is always my go-to place when I haven't eaten breakfast and I'm between appointments. It is quick, I can get a healthy meal, the selection has two or three of my favorite salads, veggies and several kinds of fish. The servers are always polite and the good news is I don't have to cook!

Our waiter was great but the food was a letdown. Most of it was hard or overcooked from being out so long, the macaroni and cheese was sour, and the mashed potatoes were thick and icky. The steak was cooked right and the salad bar was decent. Tried a few desserts, the pies looked amazing but my butter pie and the custard were curdled and the flavor was off. Not a place I will return too.

Furr's fresh buffet has an incredible array of food. just about any type of meat vegetable bread or desserts that you want. It is generally a very nice atmosphere to enjoy dining, with good waitress and waters that come by and check on you to see if there's anything they can do for you.

My Dad loves this place. He loves having Sunday breakfast here with my daughter and I. The staff is super friendly. And the establishment is clean. They have quite an extended selection for breakfast. An omelet bar is offered and bottomless coffee and juice. They have a salad bar, fruit bar and great pasty spread (my weakness) They also have enchiladas,posole and carved ham. If you feel like indulging for a fair price, than this is your place. I am giving it 4 stars because my dad has been coming to this place since my childhood and we love how they treat us.

Food is always good. My one complaint is the amount if salt that is dumped in the food. Science has proven how bad salt is for overall health. If customers want salt on their food, they can add it at the table. Vegetable taste great without adding large amounts of salt.

Well first off the buffet wasn't stocked as it should have been, there was many areas that should have been full, instead there was burnt food cause it had been sitting there so long. The waitress was great they was on there game but the people that took care of the buffet was more concerned about the stupid balloons that they had hung up outside..the guy that was supposed be control of the grill, well he needs lessons on how to cook stakes they was horrible and extremely hard just coming off the grill and it was supposed be medium rare...it was well over done...all gotta say need to be aware of your employees and how they take care of your customer's.

Haven't been to Furr's in ages. Didn't realize that it's walk up buffet style now instead of walk through the line. And come back up later with you ticket. They cater events now too. Had a great variety to choose from. Then rolled ourselves on out the door. And just because your sever only grabs you drinks and busses the tables, does not mean you SHOULDN'T TIP! If someone is taking care of you. YOU SHOULD TIP! BE CHEAP ABOUT! OR BE GENEROUS WITH IT! BUT LADIES AND GENTS ALWAYS! ALWAYS TAKE CARE OF SERVICE PEOPLE! (and I'm not yelling at you. I am expressing my opinion LOUDLY...) Chris, our service guy was Bomb! Just don't sneeze cough or eat on the buffet line. Have some sense. And help the kids out for crying out loud. They can't reach all the time..

They always have good food here, but the place always smells (almost like vomit). Must be old standing water or something, but I've been here a few times, eating & every now & then you get a whiff of stench (my family agreed). Also, the cashier (she stated she's been working 30 years) well time for her to retire, because she has no customer service skills, is pretty rude (evening shift short dark hair with glasses). She wouldn't give my family the Veterans discount.

What can be said about Furr's Fresh Buffet? I could tell you that they have a bunch of items on their line including a few different types and styles of fish. They have a great selection of items with which to build a salad. Or how nice the servers are. But I guess that's only the word of a man whom you know not. I will tell you one thing, I been there twice and am looking forward to the next visit. Yes, it's that good.

November, 2017. I had 2 full plates and everything I tried was good. The whitefish and the spinach were both great. The selection is fairly good size and the prices were very reasonable. The staff seemed genuinely attentive and eager to help. The selections included fresh fruits and vegetables as well as cooked veggies. Several choices of meats were available as were a variety of desserts. I found it to be a very good value.
