The best ribs and brisket I ever ate! It was so tender and flavor. Great restaurants!
The food here was really good. The have all the BBQ options with a choice of two sides for reasonable prices. It seems very popular as there was a wait. The staff are nice and know the menu very well. The decor is eccentric. Definitely get the ribs, as they are the best choice!
Our server, Colby, provided good service and great recommendations. dad ordered the chicken & ribs with Mac n Cheese and fries. I ordered chicken & ribs with a side salad and coleslaw. We also got an order of brisket (just to try being at a bbq restaurant, after all). I was impressed with everything
First time here and although the food was okay (very similar to FamousDave's, the mac n cheese and beans). I placed my order to go and they forgot to give me the brisket I ordered. Normally I would go back, but I live in Phx, and wasnt going to drive 30 miles. Not super happy!
ALWAYS A SPECIAL PLACE...GREAT FOOD & AMBIANCE...WE ❤ YOU! 2 TO 3 TIMES MONTHLY
Great food. Killer peach cobbler
Best Bbqs ever. Try their horsey mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese,oh brisket is yummy too
Best ribs I have had in the Phoenix metro area. Ribs are very moist falling off the bone and sauce is great as well. Wish they offered apple cobbler - that would make this my go to place.
The best pulled pork skillet in town and the sauce is amazing!
Waldo's BBQ is my favorite local place to grub! Good prices for most-wonderful food. The pulled pork and seard veggies are the BEST!
This place takes you back in time with unique, old west decor combined with some old school farm implement and feed signs. Top that off with t- shirt sales poking fun at vegans and you have a winner. The only thing better was the BBQ meal itself which was awesome.
Waldo's never disappoints love their barbecue. Their brisket and pulled pork are awesome. It is a neat experience hanging out at Waldo's. The servers are awesome also. They will smoke a Turkey for you too.
BBQ was good, very affordable. The service was great as was Katelynn.
Delicious baby back ribs the bomb
Good food, good service.
Cold beer, great food, and great service. Ate everything! Did not need a box to go.
Good food & good atmosphere!
Lots of food for the $, great taste!
Classic bbq...great food
Great food.
Really good food and super friendly service
The brisket is to die for here. Even my husband that does mor even like BBQ loved it. Service is always great.
Very good food I've eaten there several times and it's always great food.
This is always a must for us. Love the food there. Very good size meals at a fair price.
Excellent food. Large servings and excellent service. Well worth the price, which is not overly high. Not overly fancy, more homey and comfortable. Take my grandson every year for his birthday, and in between.
I have eaten lots of bbq but this was about as bad as I have ever had. The brisket was dry and tough, the pulled chicken was bland, there was not enough sauce to fix it, and the hot link was not hot, just dense and lacking any texture at all.
Great food and portions staff very nice
Wonderful barbecue restaurant with fabulous food worth the stop. Love the laughter in the signs on the wall, so white paper as a table cover is awesome for little kids to color on, the portions were generous in the staff was awesome!
The food is incredible and they give you a lot of it. Prices are reasonable. The decor is very old west with a lot of humorous signs in the wall. There is even an old tractor out front. They also have some self-deprecating humour out front. There's a sign that tells you to look for the best barbecue but "eat here anyway." Definitely do eat here. The only downsides for me are a small awkward parking lot and it's a bit noisy inside.
It was some of the best BBQ I've had besides mine; and I'm good at my BBQ! I am not usually a rib fan but OMG fall off the bone! Pulled pork sandwich? I could have eaten at least 2. The BBQ sauce is fantastic, and I'm super picky about my sauces. (Some of these reviews say that you don't get a choice? Um. I got all 3 choices, including the hot BBQ sauce because I asked.) I went with my folks for my last meal before heading off to Portland, Oregon but I would have come back again for the food and the warm atmosphere. I enjoyed our waiter too. (In some of these reviews that say the food was cold or tasted funny... You know that you can send the food back and get it fixed again, right? It's not a problem. That's why they are in business, to make customers happy with their food. Just saying.)
Awesome food, good portions. I wish they were open later.
Waldo's is fantastic. My wife and I have been going her for over 19 years. It never changes. It's always very good staff and fantastic food.
Service was quick and friendly. All You Can Eat catfish, fried, was very flavorful. Too many sides but everything was tasty.
First time there and the smell in the parking lot was great even before entering. Busy place and had to wait just a few minutes to get seated. The choices were great and waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. Got fountain drinks and came in quart mason jars. Tried super sampler platter with 3 choices of meat plus ribs and two sides. Baked sweet potato and cole slaw was my choices, but had lots of sides to choose from. Everything was great. Would recommend stopping by.
THE BEST BBQ!!! The food was absolutely divine! My new favorite place to eat. The fried pickles are a must! And the house BBQ sauce is amazing as well! Definitely exceeded my expectations!
All ican say here is. Good home cooking....just prices getting too high, vs. The size of the. Portions. you used to give....
We always drive past this place but we never stopped. Today was the first time we have been here and it was okay. They start you off with cornbread, it was good but a little dry. I got the sweet tea and it was good but sweet tea is hard to mess up. I ordered the sliced brisket sandwich and it was good after I smothered it in The jerk barbecue sauce. My favorite thing about this place had to be the fried pickles and okra.
Amazing customer service. From the moment I open the door the atmosphere and the vibe from this place just felt right. The beautiful lady at the door was extremely Pleasant. The food is delicious and the quantities will more than suffice the amount needed to satisfy your appetite. I will definitely be coming back here very soon.
Love the atmosphere, great BBQ great service!
I love this place! My favorite dish is the brisket sandwich and let me tell you, it sure is mouthwatering!
Great BBQ. I ordered the pork, slaw and fries. I also tasted the beef, cowboy beans and mash. Yummy. If you like a (I would put it as) Memphis style BBQ, this should hit the spot. The meat has a nice smokey yet juicy flavor. The BBQ sauce has a great flavor that takes the meat to the next level. The only thing that I had that fell a little short was the fries. Everything else was very good and the service was very good also. This checked the BBQ box for me. It was a delicious stand out from the crowd.
This place is awesome! I wish I didn't live so far away!
Great sauce
we just started coming to arizona as snow birds and we found our BBQ place. The riblets were very good especially if you have them "wet" them first, we really liked the sauce and if you get a side of beans or coleslaw its all you can eat although we were always to full. the peach cobbler is much better than the blueberry(too sweet). the staff is very friendly and even rembered us from our last visit. nice gift shop next door.
Great great great bbq try the st Louis ribs amazing
Traveling through the area and was craving BBQ. Looked this place up and set up navigation. Right as we walked in the great smell of BBQ hit us hard. We only had to wait a minute and we were seated. Our drinks came in 1 quart mason jars. They were huge. Cornbread was good but slightly dry. I prefer a more moist bread. Butter was hard so it was tough to spread. I whipped honey butter would have made it much better. I ordered the St Louis ribs. They were really good but slightly over cooked. I had never ordered ribs before from a BBQ place that didn't have a rub. Maybe it's a regional thing. BBQ sauce that was served with the ribs was good. Fried corn was recommended and it was good. Fries were really limp. I am not sure why or if that was their plan. Service was okay. Decor made up for it. Tons of food for the price. It wasn't excellent, but good enough to at least consider if we are ever back in the area.
Awesome food & Awesome service..More food then 1 person can eat.. The prices are so reasonable unreal!!
I went to the location in Mesa on Greenfield and Main Street next to Hi Jolly gift shop. I had a hamburger topped with shaved pork and it was delicious, so is the cornbread with green chilies. it's also great that after you eat you can go shopping for Arizona souvenirs right next door
Great service and the food is always delicious.
Enjoyed this BBQ place and service was great. Prices were very reasonable and plenty to take home.
Ribs are wonderful, fryed pickles and the mashed patato are to die for
Always delicious. Ample portions. Never too crowded when I go. 10/10 will grub again.
Love the food. You get your order soon after you place your order. Always buy extra BBQ for my home BBQ cookin'.
Bbq was good, great sweet potato fries, mac&cheese
Great food and good service. St. Louis ribs are to die for. Hidden jewel for great BBQ. Working our way through the menu to try everything.
Stellar old-school bbq joint that can be busy during peak hours. The famous ribs are truly that good, but the brisket is my personal favorite. Fun place for a group or even solo - the wall signs will keep you entertained. Surprisingly quick service even during peak weekend hours. Nicely done, folks!
Try the brisket and green chili Mac and cheese!
This was my first visit ever. I got a pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries, my family got pulled turkey and pulled beef. The buns were very greasy, they out way too much oil on the grill to "toast" them making them inedible. The meats were pretty fatty and could have been smoked longer. Pickles would have been a nice inclusion for texture and a vinegar option. The place was insanely loud and has a half-hearted attempt at sawdust on the floor. It made the place look unkempt. This is average BBQ.
Our waitress with my mom was rude and she also lied to us multiple times. She decided at the end to apologise. She was also the manager who served us. She argued with my mom. My mom had to use her savings money to paid. Our service was horrible. I don't recommend this horrible place. The whole place was awful!!!! NEVER COMING TO EAT HERE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
Great BBQ. Was very busy, however the wait was worth every delicious bite.
Never a bad meal. Loved the sampler plate.
We enjoy eating here often and always have a great experiences. The decorations are entertaining, the food is good, and the customer service is always spot on for this type of restaurant. The servers are quick to to provide their opinion and have no problem telling you what is good and what is not. My wife's recommendation is the BBQ sweet tater. My recommendation is to save room for desert.
This was our first time eating at waldos and it was the best food ever!!! I definitely would come back and eat here again, it was way better than famous Dave's. The staff was also very friendly and made us feel welcome. If I could I would give this restaurant a 10. Our waitress Pauline really made us feel important and explained the menu to us gave us suggestions on what to get.if you decide to make a trip to waldos ask for Pauline to be your waitress.
Remember this place when my grandson was 3 he is now 20 Good then good now
Yummy! This was a staple growing up with my grandparents, but since they've passed we've only been back a handful of times. We had Waldo's cater our birthday luncheon at work and let me tell you, it made me call my mom and demand we have family dinner there soon! We had BBQ Sandwhiches, Coleslaw, Mac and cheese & the peach cobbler! It was all so delicious! I can't wait to go back to the restaurant and see if it has changed any!
Atmosphere, great food, and good laughs. Don't go if you don't have a sense of humor you wouldn't like it. For those of you who are able to laugh, it will be one of the best BBQ joints to grace your lips and eyes.
Waiters are always good as is the food. I do not like the jars for water. Also, it is way to dark in the dining room.
Love this place..fast, friendly service and good food.
We went with friends who really liked Waldos. We were not disappointed. It was very good. We got the sampler platter, so we could try several items. The platter came with 2 sides, and everyone gets corn bread. The portions were very nice. I will be going back there.
Very good food, service and atmosphere!
Outstanding catfish thanks to Kate you did super job.
Love love love the ribs. Just so you know, if you share a meal you do not get endless sides. Other than wishing they would tell people that when they 1st order, we are hooked on Waldo's.
Good food, good atmosphere, good service. I love the place!
Excellent value.
Great food also good barbeque sauce
Very busy place. Everyone was great but the barbecue was dry. Not my favorite.
I've had everything on the menu at least once and it's all been delicious. My favorite meats are the pulled turkey, beef ribs, or brisket. The best sides are the horsey spuds, green chile mac n cheese, baked sweet potato, or salad.
I've been eating here since 2008. I absolutely love the food. They keep it real consistent.
The ribs weren't really that great. They were ok. The service was really good though. Nice place just wasn't a fan of the ribs. They have some good alcoholic drinks though.
yummy! everyone was very nice and frinedly
This place is by far the BEST BBQ restaurant I have ever been to. I don't leave many reviews unless the businesses really stand out in a positive or negative way. The service is incredible (especially if you sit in the very back). I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the 1/3 meal on separate occasions and the pork really does melt in your mouth. Their macaroni and cheese with green chilies and bacon, is mouth watering and very addicting. Don't even get me started on their desserts and corn bread! I can't really go to any other BBQ joint after this, just wouldn't be the same.
Awesome barbecue joint in Mesa!!! Excellent brisket, ribs, chicken, pork, and everything smoked and barbecued! The sauce rocks, and they serve a homemade complimentary jalapeno corn bread that is the bomb! The Gilbert location is great as well!
Waldo's BbQ is really good.....Quick and great service.
Great food, nice staff, the gift shop was closed but overall a nice place to stop by!
Delicious BBQ in downtown Mesa, good prices, healthy portions. Good BBQ restaurant feel, no frills, feels like home. Try the BBQ Cuban sandwich and wash it down with a homemade root beer - mmmmm!
Great food
Loved the tea the sandwich chicken good tender little dry tasty
Great food and service, but no warning given that an 18% tip would be added to the bill for our party of 2, then there was an additional tip line on the final check. THAT left a bad taste.
Man loves this place, bbq at its finest. Its not fancy once you go inside. Its kind of like a whole in the wall type of place. On the plus side of it all it they have my favorite beer on draft shinerbock haven't had that beer since I left my home in Texas. Great place tio take family, friends or just to go get a bite to eat by yourself.
Best BBQ in Mesa! The decor is really unique and interesting, but the real standout is the food. We never spend more than $40 here and always leave with a ton of leftovers.. not to mention, the food is AMAZING. Everything on the menu is great, we’ve tried tons of mains and sides and loved it all. The horseradish mashed potatoes weren’t really my thing, but that was about it. Highly recommend
Great BBQ and the atmosphere is good
Great food and BBQ!! Service was awesome!
Nice variety on the menu, to include a unique drink selection. Great customer service.
Welcoming atmosphere, GREAT staff and AMAZING food!!! Can't wait to come back!
The Friday all you can eat catfish is delicious!
My favorite BBQ ever! Everything is always perfect and the fried corn on the cob is to die for! Been a customer from the beginning and will be until the end
This is the best BBQ I have had since moving here from Texas. I have tried a lot of barbecue places since moving here and I can say this tops them all. Fall off of the bone ribs, tender and juicy pulled meats which are Flavorful enough to eat without putting sauce on them and their homemade sauce makes it even better . When I feel like having barbecue I drive 40 miles 1 way just to get this barbecue.
Best BBQ outside of Texas. Awesome and friendly place to eat. Great food and value for money. Can't say enough about this place.
Had not been here in years. Food was still delicious. Pulled pork and pulled chicken. Service was flawless. Best darn iced tea since Panda Express.
This little hole in the wall is great. Good people good food good prices. Been here dozens of times and will go again soon.
Waldo's presented us with an excellent Full Service option for our catered event! The topic for the night was Digital Dentistry (Advanced) and not only did we have a great turn-out but the food was exceptional, delicious and kept all in attendance very alert and happy - and full of great food! Great customer service, great food and Revive Dental Implant Center will definitely be using your services again! Thanks so much!
The food was excellent.
Excellent food complimented by superior service.
Good BBQ for AZ...nothing like Southern BBQ, but good
We are German tourists and were September 2016 in Waldos BBQ. A rustic saloon. We recommend.Excellent Beefribs, homemade fries and great service. Very friendly and attentive service
Thanks
Amazing BBQ and good employees - so full when we left
Crazy packed everytime I've been there, but great food. Call ahead and get it to go!
It's ok bbq. Not great not bad. Nothing to write home about.
Great barbecue! The cornbread would be great, too, if only it didn't have green chilis in it--but, hey, we're in the southwest! The drinks served in Mason jars are a nice touch in keeping with the western "ambiance" and keeps you from waiting for a refill
I ordered the brisket sandwich with a mixture of lean and juicy beef and it was delicious! The macaroni and cheese side was flavorful, creamy and had a bit of a bite... extremely tasty! I shared the bread pudding, and while I'm not normally a fan of bread pudding this was not too moist and had wonderful taste and texture. I will definitely go again!
Good prices and good food for the money! We ate all you can eat catfish which was good. Loved the mac in cheese as a side!
It was great. The BBQ chicken quesadilla was stuffed w meat and cheese and a pan of delicious BBQ sauce on the table. Fresh salad, good chili cornbread, too full to order what looked like great desserts. Fun casual atmosphere w butcher paper tablecloths. Will he back w friends.
BBQ and the sides were awesome. Wait staff was also great. I've been there before, but this was outstanding. Thanks so much.
Always a great meal here. Fast and friendly service.
Waldos BBQ, What can I say... AMAZING. The best sweet tea I have ever had. The ribs were fall off the bone! The pulled pork was PERFECT. The food came out quickly and I didnt even have to wait long for a table. I was not let down with anything. But the best part was our server Scott, he provided amazing service. Also was prompt with our requests. He should be the one training all the servers if he is not allready. Great experience all around.
Great BBQ I have had the brisket, pulled pork, and baby back ribs. The ribs are hands down the best and would definitely reccomend them.
The ribs was so good and I love the pulled pork too!
The food was excellent, I came here 5 times in the last year. The service was fantastic. I reviewed Waldo's against "Can't Stop Smokin" on University....Waldo's on Main St, gives you twice the amount of food and quality for the same price! This is unbelievable, but true! Some of the sides like the Baked potato are ALL YOU CAN EAT! Yes, I recommend Waldo's over any in the area....so far....
Good BBQ would live to come back for more.
The food was good & full filling! The staff is friendly & makes it enjoyable. Definitely referring & visiting again soon!
A very good BBQ joint! And I mean "joint". It is not the fake "hey look, we look like a real BBQ" artificial decorations that you see in the chain restaurants. This is the real deal and the food proves it. Yes it has the schticky posters, liscense plates and such that come in such a place, but if they paid for a pro decorator to look like they didn't get a pro, they got their money's worth. This is no Famous "you know who's" BBQ, it is real smoked goodness for a real fair price... On a side note, I tend to like a rub that bites back and harkens to my Cajun side, especially when crunching the blackend ends of a brisket Hey Waldo, if you are listening... Either way, when in Mesa, I'm gonna eat there.
First time visit for lunch. Man oh man this is the place to eat BBQ, we ordered the brisket (juicy) sandwich with sweet potato and regular fries. Our super friendly waitress helped with our decision and quickly served our meal. Seating and layout is great for couples or larger groups. The decor is really interesting with many old signs and interesting pictures. We bought a pint of their signature BBQ sauce to take back home with us! Thanks to the owners, service staff and especially the BBQ chefs
Great place,,, food is great,,,price is fair,,, service was very good... I'm here visiting from NC... I'd recommen it highly... It's been there a Long time ,,, building has a lot of history... This is the one on hwy. 60...
Good barbecue big portions excellent tasting decent price.
The service was friendly and fast. Before you walk in you smell the place! In a good way... We tried the BBQ-bano sandwich which has pulled pork, ham, pickles and Dijon. I added Cole slaw and BBQ sauce. It was great, the meat was tender and juicy. Also tried the Mac n cheese. They make it with brisket and roasted chillies. It was delicious! If you like BBQ, give this place a try!
One of the pulled pork I've had. Yes, pulled pork are supposed to be tendered but this pull pork melt in your mouth. The BBQ sauce was sweet and tangy, solo good. Everything else was just OK.
Very pleasantly surprised. I am pretty picky about my brisket and pulled pork, Food was excellent. Service outstanding. Definitely a will be back !
My FAVORITE BBQ! Many ppl I've taken there agree.
Food & service was very good
A mesa landmark Waldo has great bbq we go ones a month
Waldo's is great BBQ. I love their brisket sandwiches. My husband's favorite is pulled pork Memphis style. They give you a little skillet of BBQ sauce so you can put as much or as little as you like which suits me fine. I highly recommend this place if you like BBQ.
Well I have mixed feelings about Waldo's first let me say the pulled chicken sandwich is totally awesome and the fries have a tasty seasoning that will make you want to come back for more but the waitress must have been having a bad day she was very unfriendly and I paid the bill you pay the waitress there I gave her $30.00 and she asked me if I needed change and I said no thank you. Minutes later she came to our table and slammed down my 75 cents which I assume she thought was her tip!!! Needless to say I had $8.00 on the table that I decided right quick to pick up and leave..I for one was in the restaurant business for 20 years and to me half the experience is a kind wait person if you don't have that your whole dinner is ruined . My next meal from Waldo's will be to go please!!!!
Tasty and priced Right
One of the better bbq places in town... funky decor..good service...good food.
The food was fantastic and the service was amazing I want to give this place 100 stars
Great pulled pork sandwich. Awesome customer service.
It's ok but pricey
Outside Waldo's on a poster it says "Waldo's BBQ, Almost Famous". I should have heeded the warning. Service was terrible. Upon entering I smelled the most wonderful barbecue smell I've ever smelt. It was perfect BBQ to a T. While waiting for a while that turned into to be a considerable wait, we watch our waitress flirt with our adjacent table. Amongst my group we joked about how that waitress better get all of her tips from the other table because we were not going to tip her at all. We all watched our food sit waiting, visible to us, from our seats , for what verged on seven minutes (we had line of sight into the kitchen) while said waitress handled cash then went out back, returning in a different shirt, then returning to deliver our food. I have no confidence in this establishment's food safety record, despite the "A" rating they hang on the wall. At least my Beef Brisket Reuben was delicious, and the sweet potato chips quite literally melted in my mouth. Amazing. But also I did ask the waitress for advice on which side to order, and she glowingly recommended the Hatch Chili Mac n Cheese. Said Mac stunk of microwave. Some of Waldo's is Fantastic Food, but as the sign out front implied, Waldo's is "Almost Famous," because they totally miss the mark.
Loved the food. Cowboy beans were good. Bbq sandwiches are great. What can I say. I love it all.
Their ribs are fall off the bone moist, and I wish I could drink the BBQ sauce it’s SO good! I almost left my bag here once, but one of their employees caught up to me in the parking lot with it! Great service!
The BBQ was so delicious and the service was real good
This place is Amazing. Best ribs I've ever had. Great service from our waiter. Food came out fast and drinks were perfect! Highly recommend!
Best Bbq in East Mesa
I have eaten here twice, so far. Both times the food was delicious. The portions are healthy & the price is fair. I highly recommend this establishment.
Best bbq sauce I have ever had! The place is really cool with lots of signs on the walls. The gift shop next door is cool to look in to while you wait to be seated. You can expect to wait to be seated. There is usually a large crowd which is expected for dinner hours. The wait is well worth it!
Excellent service and great food
Good food and service, but very noisy.
Best bbq place in town. Love the complimentary corn bread w honey butter. Did I mention complimentary! Delicious
Love Waldos! The selection, the recent addition(?) Of seasonal specials, etc. Its getting better. Hopefully it will get better & our winter visitors wont catch on. My favorite, Skookie!
Excellent food. The onion rings were the best I've ever had; awesome texture, very crisp. Pauline was our server. She was great. Great service. She made a great mojito too. We will be going back for sure.
The all time best sauce on the planet. You can put it in a glass and drink it. Everything under the sauce is good as well. I like the brisket and the St. Louis ribs. Great value, good food and service. Take someone from out of town, but be careful, you'll have to send them sauce every year!!
The waiter was professional and courteous, and the food was also good. I will definitely be going back to this establishment.
Great service and food!
Food was good I didn't care for the side dishes but their fried pickles were awesome! Also the BBQ sauce was amazing I'd prefered my beef ribs to come dipped in sauce instead of on the side but I forgot to ask. My whole family was satisfied. I didn't care for the corn bread it had corn kernels and jalapeños cooked in it I'ma sweet cake corn bread kinda lady. Overall I'd come back we loved the hospitality
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to eat in the valley. I’ve driven by this place many times and finally gave it a try a couple months back and have been there numerous times since. I brought some of their food home to my wife and she’s hooked now too! I haven’t dined in yet though, only take out but every time the food has been top notch! Try the brisket sandwich with their Spicy Louisiana bbq sauce and cowboy beans!
Would have been 5 stars for super food and service, but for 2 persons it was a shock to have the 18% gratuity slipped in on the bill, then in addition, another tip line was placed on the check. We shouldn't have to be so careful.
Great place for BBQ! Very busy so you need to be patient. Food is worth the wait.
