Very cute place, and great food! Made the trip from out of town that much more enjoyable.
Doesn't have my favorite dinner but their breakfast menu makes up for that because it is delicious!! The warm lobster roll is the best
The Montauk is a fun place for brunch on the weekend. It has great natural light throughout and a real nice patio. I had the burger, which was great and someone in the group had the shaved steak and egg sandwich. I plan to order that the next time because it looked tasty! The only down side is that the service is ridiculously slow. Took at least 15 minutes to get our drink order and another 10 minutes to get the cocktail. If service is important to you, then stay away. If you have hours to kill, then it’s a fun place. I went on a Sunday and it looks like they have a DJ in the afternoon, but it wasn’t too loud. If the service was better, then it would have earned the faith star.
Loved this place! My Bloody Mary and kale salad were both spot on. My husband had the steak and egg breakfast sandwich and he loved it. The service was friendly and the ambiance was relaxed, chic, kinda funky and very clean. Would definitely go back and try more off the menu!
Love love love. Super great kale salad, citrusy and surprising with bacon and dried fruit. Lobster roll best this side of Maine. Yum.
Another great place for lunch or dinner. It's sorta one of a place that's a little hidden or not from the street. We will be returning there soon. We visit the Phoenix area often, this will be a new restaurant for us.
Nice vibe and a good breakfast!
Nothing notable about the place but nothing was inadequate
Went to The Montauk for happy hour this past Thursday. My friend and I both ordered a drink each (both mules) with some appetizers. Food was really great! Got the fried chicken sliders, shrimp, and fries (huge portion for just the two of us). The drinks were good but didn't taste very strong (sometimes you just need a strong drink!). We sat outside on the patio, and because the people next to us had a puppy with them, I'm gonna reach and say the place is dog-friendly (but probably best to confirm with the restaurant). If they are, then that'd be great for those (like me) who want to take their furry baby with them everywhere they can! The waitress we had was very friendly and made recommendations. My friend and I really didn't order anymore to drink or eat, since we were mostly there to talk and catch up. But our waitress kept checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed. Really great service and will go back there again!
The food is ok and the atmosphere is nice, however that is really the best thing I can say about this place! The service was horrible!!! The receipt has the name Bailey on it but who is to say as there was nothing memorable about his service other than it was bad. He might want to look for another profession. As waiting tables isn't his strong suit. Three tables received service before ours, by other staff, and they were seated after us. There was three people working as the wait staff in our area. I can't speak for the other tables, however when you sit there for 15min and someone finally comes over to take our order, is unacceptable in my book. Especially since it wasn't too busy. Luckily there was water at the table as my wife asked for a refill and it took him 10min, plus a reminder, to get it. She was done with her lunch before the refill arrived. I didn't even bother to ask for a refill, especially since he didn't notice it was empty and didn't ask. In case you were wondering, we were taking our time. I ordered the Prime Rib Sandwich which was dressed with have of the au jus dip. I prefer to have a dry sandwich and dip it myself. It has a horseradish aioli, not sure where the horseradish is? I think it is just mayo. The homemade chips and french fries are great. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this place!!! I did give him a small tip, which was encouraged by my wife. I am typically a gracious tipper and was not going to leave a tip, due to the poor service. I gave it two stars - refer to opening statement.
Good place and good taste
Horrible experience. I went with a party of 5 and had very high expectations until we were waiting for 20 minutes and didn’t without someone even taking our drink order. We all got up and left and no one was even at the front to see us leave. Won’t be going back.
Slow service but great food.
Cool little joint with a nice east coast vibe.
Great atmosphere, food, and service. Good music on Wednesday night too.
Delicious food. Delicious drinks. Delightful atmosphere. Delightful staff.
This is really a 4.5 star review. The Montauk is worlds better than Breakfast Club next door, and I'm genuinely surprised it isn't rated higher! It is physically a very pretty restaurant with a Hamptons-esque, beachy vibe. The food menu is pretty limited, but is innovative and well-executed, and the alcohol menu is extensive, offering an impressive wine and cocktails list, craft beers, and fun "punch bowls" of several cocktails intended for groups. We tried the prime rib sandwich and the chicken crepe from the brunch menu. They were both excellent and unique items you don't see on typical menus. We also got a round= each of bloody mary's and Spark Plug cocktails, which are cold brew coffee-based with Bailey's and a coffee ice cube. Yum! Service started off great but got inexplicably slow and they weren't particularly busy. Not a huge deal on a lazy Sunday morning, just a minor annoyance. Live music on weekends, and when we were there (Sunday brunch), Phoenix local Sydney Sprague was playing. She is phenomenal and worth the follow on social media! The Montauk also has a dog friendly patio. Consider this place next time you're in Old Town, you won't be disappointed!
Went for a friend's birthday party and a company Christmas party. Place was busy at 8pm with an older crowd. Didn't have any food so unable to review that but the staff was friendly. Only suggestion would be a more consistent uniform/clothing for staff. They blended in the VIP area.
I honestly don't remember ever doing this. Whenever I was there, everything was great. I have nothing bad to say about it. Not sure what happened...
Great atmosphere and great food!
All day happy hour on Monday was the greatest thing ever. Cheap well drinks and great appetizers made for a great time. The haystack fries with blue cheese were amazing!
Great service and great food!!
4.891 stars. The following words can only describe my love for this establishment. Who's that lady? Who's that lady? Beautiful lady, who's that lady? Lovely lady, who's that lady? Real fine lady, who's that lady? Hear me callin' out to you 'Cause that's all that I can do Your eyes tell me to pursue But you say, look yeah But don't touch, baby, No, no, no, don't touch Who's that lady? Who's that lady? Sexy lady, who's that lady? Beautiful lady, who's that lady? Real fine lady, who's that lady? I would dance upon a string Any gifts she'd wanna bring I would give her anything If she would just do what I say Come around my way, baby, shine my way Who's that lady? Who's that lady? Beautiful lady, who's that lady? Lovely lady, who's that lady? Real, real fine lady, who's that lady? I would love to take her home But her heart is made of stone I gotta keep on keepin' on If I don't, she'll do me wrong Do me wrong, baby Also, I spotted several fellows in tight tank tops at the bar. I call them the tank top crew. 23% chance the building is haunted.
Popped in because the restaurant across the way had too long of a wait. Felt like we lucked out. The Montauk was way more inviting. The food was great and the drinks were too. Also good coffee. We ran up quite a brunch tab and you should too if you're ever in the area.
Young crowd. Club feel. Food is good, but light fare. Place to hang out and have drinks.
It was a cool place very
Really cool outdoor bar very good music centrally located in Old Town Scottsdsle.
Great Service, food and cocktails... Will definitely come back
It was decent for the location.
Love the vibe here, great patio!
Great customer service! Super cute atmosphere too. No Wi-Fi but that’s probably a good thing! My particular meal wasn’t the best but I’ve had other dishes there and they’ve been great so maybe it was just an off day. But really terrific customer service!
Always a hot spot, with great food and service
Enjoyed it. Staff was good. Food was tasty and decently priced.
Decent happy hour, but if you're looking for cheap drinks and bar foods, you're in the wrong spot. We all love it here because their drinks and food menu is eclectic and delicious, and the staff really set the vibe to ensure you'll have fun. They have live music or a DJ going on the weekends, and as someone that lives in Oldtown and its restaurants scene, this is my first recommendation when people ask me where a great brunch place is... music, champagne and delectable brunch dishes set the Montauk apart.
Excellent food. Good dining vibe.
Awesome lunch spot- indoor/outdoor. Salmon Teriyaki is great!
Great lunch spot during the week, great staff and food!
Really nice atmosphere and staff. Drinks are good and always a fun crowd. Their brunch is really popular.
Considering the price the food is mediocre at best.
Enjoyed a nice relaxing lunch... tasty burger and fries... service was very good and prices were good too.
Chill and enjoy the Arizona Place Town vibe with a fresh cocktail and some live music.
Came here on a recommendation, and visiting from Canada. Beautiful space with great food. Our server was great and live music was a nice touch for brunch
Great Sunday Brunch!
Loved this place! Amazing service and loved the atmosphere. definitely recommend
A great vibe and some good food! The burrata and the crispy rock shrimp appetizers were delicious and I would definitely come back again.
We happened to stumble on the Montauk for breakfast and was glad we did! It was a group of us for a morning of a friend's bachelorette party! The waiter was a great sport in accommodating her cup for her. The food was delicious, I ordered the Basic Advocado Toast and it was the perfect size. Also, the bloody marys were a great start to the day.
Went for brunch and the food was delicious. Bloody Marys were tasty but definitely on the spicier side. Ambiance and decor was fun and casual
Nice starter dishes, main dishes were just ok, full bar with live music which is nice, thought the waitress was kind of rude
Golf at Montauks. Great clientele and great servers. Thanks Diego!
Perfect spot for a fresh bite outside on the patio. Enjoyed my ahi tuna salad and Pinot.
Great place for weekend brunch
Great casual atmosphere..great place to relax with a group of friends.
The restaurant was very loud and hard to hear others talk due to a small facility as everyone tried to talk above each other and the music. My daughter wasn't a fan of the food so she came home hungry. I myself enjoyed the food though. Lack of service, waitress didn't give me all my change back as I paid cash and only checked on my table once at the end of our meal. Mainly young people here and was shocked the waitresses could wear crop tops and short shorts - seemed a bit too revealing and unprofessional but seems like anything goes in today's world .. enjoyed the food but probably won't be back
Was there for a bridal shower on we the back patio. Did not like the fact that we were not able to secure the gate and other guest or able to walk through but the service and the food was amazing.
A brunch staple with tasty mimosas and bloody Mary's, and a great outdoor bar. Always have good live music or a brunch DJ...but can get full of drunk young Scottsdalians at times. The food is a bit expensive, but not bad!
Long Island attitude in the heart of old town. There’s plenty of other places to go that are more fun.
The food was amazing, the service was good and the atmosphere was cool. It seems to be a popular place later in the evening for the younger crowd -classy younger crowd.
Great appetizers and atmosphere with a patio view of Old Town Scottsdale. As a local, I enjoy this nice escape from home while remembering why I live here. Worth a visit. Reasonably priced food with very good service. The main chef cooks well enough to make you want to skip a home cooked meal. A nice place to eat before enjoying the nightlife that Old Town Scottsdale offers. A+
Not New England! Too much "stuff" in the lobster roll. French fries soggy. Might have been saved with gravy. And what's with the chopped kale salad? So much vinegar it was not edible at all. On the brighter side, the appetizers were excellent. We had Tuna Tartar Guacamole. Fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone, fish lover or not. Deviled Eggs were excellent. And the fig, cheese and prosciutto with toast was delicious and would pair nicely with the sweet cocktails they serve. The write up I read before going said it was a New England based restaurant. Thought that was strange with the name of Montauk which is in New York. Recommend you have appetizers for dinner. .
Loved this spot...menu selection limited, service, pricing were pluses
Amazing frozen cocktails. Nice outdoor seating areas. The food is delicious as well.
The Montauk can be described as Montauk, but just not on Long Island. I have been to The Montauk on two occasions (and more will happen!) and I love the vibe of the place, the open/beachy/chill design of the restaurant, and I do very highly recommend their lobster rolls and other dishes. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is delicious, and if I lived in Scottsdale I could see myself being there every weekend. Truly a Scottsdale gem and I look forward to visiting The Montauk again soon.
New age vibes and great spirits. The lobster roll was perfect out on the open air patio, watching all of the spring training fans walk by. Server was extremely nice and always attentive. I would highly suggest this place for an afternoon cocktail as well.
The food was great. Our server, Gabby, was friendly and provided great service. Father's day breakfast was a hit.
Highly recommend it. Shrimp bowl was fantastic.
I'd like to preface this with the fact that I worked in the service industry for a long time and I always give restaurants/servers the benefit of the doubt. But this was just so bad that I felt like I had to write a review. I honestly thought I was on a restaurant TV show that wanted to see how angry it could make its customers. The service staff seemed so unsupported by its management that I'd be surprised if any of them come back to work tomorrow. A mandatory $35 minimum for each person in our 14 person party. Why you ask? Well, the manager wouldn't show his/her face to explain it to us, even though we asked for him/her more than once. The food was not good. Fries were cold, fish tacos were bland, burger was rare when ordered medium The brownie sundae, which was good, took 30-45 minutes and came with some freezer burnt ice cream. Just a comically poor effort all around. The poor server had the whole patio to herself with little to no help at all. And she had to handle our frustration and questions when that is clearly the manager's job.
Awesome atmosphere & impeccable service!
Went to The Montauk on a Saturday for dinner. We had a group of six, but we made a reservation and were seated right away. The bar was pretty crowded, so it was a bit loud. I shared the cauliflower rice with my sister, which was perfect and light (just what we needed)!
Amazing breakfast place! Live music and great atmosphere.
Awesome place ! Great appetizers & drinks !! Thank you !
Took 50 min to get our food, drinks took 30 min, food was cold and not worth the wait. Horrible/rude staff, would not ever recommend
What Ambience. .reminds me of the Cape...
Had a very nice experience. The staff and Manager David Gonzales were beyond excellent. I really recommend The Montauk.
Really wonderful food and great drinks I met an old high school friend who lives here and he recommended it - perfect place to catch up on the years gone by
Great atmosphere outstanding food & service is fantastic!
Delicious food. Friendly staff a bit overpriced. I assume it is because of location.
Lots of tables empty.... but really a 25 minute wait! If you only want the very young hip group you are not going to make it..... why on an off time with plenty of empty seats inside and out would you turn away two people. You obviously need to train your staff to make the most of the days you have clients at your door!! I’ve been there in the heat of the summer when there is not a person in the place.... now you won’t even get my business !! Sorry ... went down the street and was seated immediately!
Great food. Had the prime rib sandwich with fries and it was amazing! The meat was tender, juicy and not fatty. The fries were basic but still good. I will definitely come back
We came in on a slow Monday and asked to be seated outside, they only had one section open, which was fine. We said we would wait at the bar until a table opened up. Despite checking in multiple times with the host and several servers, tables outside were given to newcomers THREE TIMES ahead of us. We waited at the bar for 40 minutes and eventually just closed our tab and left. Really ruined our last day In Scottsdale; this was going to be our last stop in the sun before heading back the airport to a cold winter. I hope hosts are more diligent about writing down names for tables. We felt so disrespected.
After visiting the Soleri Bridge we stopped in for drinks and snacks. Mitchell helped us select tasty potato chips and veggies with hummus. That led to more wine and more visiting with Mitchell. We enjoyed everything about the Montauk, the food, drinks, service, and location.
Too busy. Didnt get food on time. Took too long
We come here because of the overall atmosphere but service is really, really bad even sitting at the bar. There was 5 of us and every time we needed something we had to flag down our bartender and this was on a Saturday during the day. We were there for several hours thinking it was just busy but nope, even when the main crowd left it was just as bad. I started with a froze then moved to a margarita. The margarita was so bad I could not drink it. The bartender was no where to be found to even ask how things were. We ended up leaving and walking next door to Diego Pops even though it's owned by the same company they make way better margaritas.
Love this place all of a sudden. I newly rediscovered this on a lunch meeting a couple of weeks ago. There is a great east coast feel, all day happy hour on Mondays, and I cant get enough of their Ahi Poke bowl. Seriously. Sorry I can't comment on the other food other than to say the honey jalapeno sauce on their chicken sandwich is too honey and not enough jalapeno! I've only been for lunch recently, but it's a good lunch stop.
Absolutely delicious breakfast. Great service and amazing patio. Can't wait to go again!
We had to use the bathroom so it was a last second decision. We got couple of chairs at the bar, and our bartender Rachel was amazing! Very nice place! Hip and happening! We need more Rachels in this business! Big smiles and all.... Thank you Rachel! Anna and Shannon Margarita and mimosa ladies!
Love this place!! Go all the time!! Great vibe and great staff!!
Okay place and decent breakfast. The ambiance is good but be prepared to wait. This is truly where white girls go to have brunch. I had my white girl with me when we had brunch so I can say that
Not basic enough to be an Instagram spot. Not hipster enough to actually be good.
Great patio and its dog friendly :) lobster roll was really good!
Nice place but valets need to learn to drive manual transmissions.
It has a nice layout and a good happy hour with some creative dishes. The staff was nice and the place was clean.
From New England so expectations were a little high. Service took longer than expected for how busy the place was at the time but the food came out quick. I ordered the fish tacos, which I know NE isn’t famous for, and they tasted like nothing, bland. For the price of one of their “specialty cocktails” you could easily buy a 6 pack and have change. I haven’t tried many of the OT restaurants, this was my first one, but I already know there must be better places out there to hit up. I probably won’t eat here again unless my restaurant exploration comes up very poorly. And again, I know fish tacos aren’t a NE specialty but you should have pride and confidence in every single item on your menu. The place looks like a gutted out Vineyard Vines, that’s on NE brand at least
lots of MMs here at The Montauk. MM = mediocre men They’re everywhere. Like walk to the bathroom and men in chinos and button ups are SWARMING. But anyways I really like the crunchy shrimp and tbh I’m not much of a Mac and cheese lady but you should definitely order it. Also kale salad because it’s the only glimmer of health you’ll see all night.
The food was VERY VERY GOOD!!!! Our service was VERY VERY POOR! I don't typically get rude about things such as a terrible server... I almost did. I had to walk out and leave my husband to deal with it. It was SO incredibly frustrating.
Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Very trendy spot to stop by. Start your tour here.
Great food, bar, service. Loved it!
Nice place food above average, good drinks but service slow and unorganized.
Delicious brunch. I ordered the shaved prime rib bfast sandwich with a over easy egg and bacon. Awesome! They have great drink options and a guy who makes pancakes out of the picture you show him, plus love music!
Food was great and service on point. Lots of unique dishes here. I had avocado pink grapefruit salad. Sounds weird but blew my mind. So good. Cool vibe inside too. Feels like a posh seaside country club.
Chloe was an amazing server. Such a sweet girl and will definitely be asking for her again when I come back. Great spot to just lounge around
Great venue for brunch, live music good brunch cuisine and really friendly staff!
My new favorite spot for drinks and dinner. I love their grapefruit/avocado salad and deviled eggs. My favorite drink if your into coffee is the spark plug.
Pretty great burger!!
Energetic crowd. Nice menu. Excellent for breakfast.
Great night spot and day drinkery
The vibe, crowd, and style is good. Had well cocktails which were ok. Prob would have been better if I specified use of better alcohol. Want to go back to try the food.
Good food. A little loud inside but the 20s, 30s crowd seemed to love it. Outdoor seating was available.
Fun place to eat and drink. Really good food.
Our server, Chloe was amazing! We spent the better half of the day (from open until the end of happy hour) recovering from the day before. We were beyond happy with the bartender, between the food and the drinks, everything was on point. To top the day off, Chloe took over as our server and completely made our day.
Visited The Montauk on our short trip to Scottsdale. Food was great! Well seasoned and portions were decent. We're from Canada so we're not use to massive portions. We ordered the miso rib eye bowl and the avocado grapefruit salad with chicken. Both items done extremely well, the bowl was a bit too over seasoned for my liking but still great! We also ordered a watermelon mule. To be honest wasn't anything special for 12 bucks. Didn't really have a ton of watermelon flavour either. Overall service was great, food was great, and value is definitely there. Would return for a nice lunch in the future.
Great food, great service, great beverages
Best happy hour in all of Scottsdale plus an adorable atmosphere and friendly staff. I'll definitely be back again!
Love it here. Great food, drinks, and service! It's such a pretty location as well!
French dip and decor is worth coming back!
Service, food and atmospheric was awesome.
DELICIOUS great service live entertainment is always amazing
Good service, good food. It seems like they're more of a place to get drinks but overall, good atmosphere!
Truly ordinary food quality, lack luster in all respects but decent. The crowd is primarily on the younger side and the music is loud most times. The breakfast pancakes are awful, think and bready. The drinks were good and generous. The help sweet and fast. Be picky...they will re-do if you ask ... a plus for the area!
Loved the patio and our server, positive vibe, Arnold Palmer...the best, shrimp and rib eye slices are amazing. Cant wait to go back!
Best spot to start on Sundays
So amazing!!
Great brunch spot. The portions were perfect and prices were reasonable. I sat at the bar and didn't have the best service, but I would definitely return.
I really really enjoyed this little spot in old town Scottsdale. Happy hour specials are great and I found it very warm and welcoming (or was that the wine?). Prices were good and the clientele were not the rowdy types that you find elsewhere in Scottsdale. Highly recommend!
Food is amazing for this corner joint in Old Town. Grilled chix, bacon and brussel sprouts...perfect. Could use an uograde on the beer selection but the mixed drinks were good. Great staff and service.
Great customer service and great food. Get there early as it get's busy!
Love this spot! Morgan, Sara, and John are the the absolute best! Try the Bacon Balsamic Chicken Bowl and the Burrata!
Cute place and great drinks, but the music was incredibly loud couldn’t enjoy conversations with the people at the table and had to leave.
Good food, bad service and hard to hear with the music.
Great deviled eggs! Recommend the seafood dishes. Stay away from any steak/beef dish--not their forte'.
Relaxing with great energy! Food was excellent
Definitely higher class livingroom
The service was less than okay. Tried to get the bartender's attention to get a drink. My husband was ignored. Never have we ever been treated like we didn't belong. Today was the first.
Food was great. Got a rice bowl with shrimp, asparagus, avocado and red onion. On wine Wednesday, bottles of wine are half-off with an entree or bowl and Monday is all day happy hour.
Great atmosphere, can't speak for the food as we just went for drinks. Drinks were okay, but the bartenders were really slow and were stocking unnecessary items instead of helping people waiting.
Great happy hour and bacon and truffle oil deviled eggs were amazing!
Cute and trendy! Plenty of place to sit outside or inside. Not a huge variety of food options. Def a fun place to go with a group of friends.
Great atmosphere, average food
One of best brunches. Wish they offered on weekdays.
Food was outstanding. Service impeccable! (Thanks to DCon). Will be returning for brunch often. Great experience all around!
Some friends was hanging out one night and decided to stop at the Montauk all is good.
Decor does its job making you feel like you are really in Montauk. Food was ok. Good music.
Excellent food. Good size. Perfect flavor.
Trendy, but not over the top. Great, healthy food.
Any place with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice for greyhounds is on my list of favorites. The food is good, staff cool and friendly, and they often have live music.
Great food! Great patio! Great Happy Hour!
Great place for an afternoon beverage.
Place clean best service ever. Food delicious.
I really enjoyed my experience here. I love the open environment and I will definitely be back. I love the lobster roll
Very nice! Saturday and we were able to get an area for 9 girls with no reservation.
Great little spot! Had the crepes and they were delicious along with a mimosa. I love the vibe and atmosphere. Everyone was super friendly.
The experience i had here was pretty good, The service was fine, they have lobster which i heard was pretty good. i got the chicken jalapeno burger, kind of disappointing as the flavor was not quite what i was expecting, to sweet and not spicy enough
I had the orange teriyaki salmon bowl. It was cooked perfectly and deliscious. The portions aren't overly generous. Service was very quick despite two big parties there. I would go again.
We recently had breakfast here. The restaurant has a very cozy feel with a parlor/study decor. The breakfast was delicious! Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich which comes with avocado. We did get some cocktails as well. Pretty pricey for the cocktails but with this restaurant being in the middle of downtown Scottsdale, it's within the price range for the area. Service was good. The bartender was a little overworked as she was waiting for her bar back to show up for his shift but she made up for it with her friendly attitude. Will definitely come back !
Great hanging out place
Great place in s cottsdale for monday happy hour.
The food, drinks and atmosphere were great. But the best part of our visit was Cardi! She posted us up in a great spot and welcomed us to stay while we had a long break between checking out of our Airbnb and our flight home. We were worried about finding a way to kill the afternoon with our luggage and Cardi made the day fly by and was so understanding. We highly recommend the fried chicken sliders and table mimosas.
My first time eating at The Montauk, but I will definitely return. The Burrata appetizer was amazing and the Kale salad was something I will dream about. Perfectly balanced and assembled. Also had a few bites of my friend’s burger, and it was solid. Can’t wait to go back!
Come on Montauk! We all love the atmosphere, music, but the service is typically so slow & poor! There's a reason daily dose, breakfast club, & morning squeeze all had long waits & you don't!
