Awful awful awful! Ruined my daughters birthday...we had reservations and had to wait 20 minutes to be seated...then once we were seated...no one came to our table ... we watched all the other tables get water and service after 15 minutes of waiting for someone ... we walked out...my poor daughter was so sad bc this was one place she was looking forward to going to...first time and will never return.. Thanks for ruining what could have been an amazing birthday...but Barrio Queen made up for the disappointment and disrespect we received here.
I immensely enjoyed breakfast at the Canal Club. It’s a bit of a hidden gem inside the Scott resort and I don’t think many locals know how incredible this place is. I had the Caribbean Benedict served over crispy plantains instead of traditional English muffin. The dish is inventive and truly a masterpiece of taste, texture, and flavor. We also had the Churro Doughnut Holes with Guava Jam and White Chocolate Anglaise. To die for! So delicious and crisp with the “right” amount of sweetness. I preferred the Guava Jam over the White Chocolate Anglaise though both were delightful. The serve at Canal Club is personable and very polite. I can’t wait to go back to experience more delicious food and great service!
Good place for breakfast, that’s for sure.
This place is soooo good. It's a hidden gem. It's a beautiful setting with great service and the food to match. You are doing a disservice if you don't go here and soon. We sampled all over the menu and it was all great. The cocktails "Letter to a Friend" and "the Santiago" were very very delicious! The Tostones and black beans were off the charts. My wife's salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My pizza was crispy and the cheese and sauce were gooey and tangy. It was just perfect. This a new favorite of mine.
I have been to this hotel many times for dinners, birthdays and business meetings. I have never stayed the night as a guests although my friends that have stayed enjoyed it and the rooms are very nice. I love the Cuban theme of the hotel that is nicely carried out throughout the property. The staff has always been friendly, helpful and courteous. This place is absolutely perfect for entertaining clients that are in town either eating at the Canal Club, drinks at the bar or simply finding a comfy seat in the lobby. The Canal Club has delicious Cuban menu and excellent specialty drinks. I recommend the Cobb Salad, Quinoa Avocado salad, the ceviche and a drink called Letter to a Friend. It is nice for Birthday, anniversary or bachelor/bachelorette parties. I definitely recommend staying here or visiting even as a local. I hope to visit the pool before summer ends!
Great food in a great atmosphere! Loved the whole Cuban theme. Service was great too.
Yikes, I have never experience such tacky behavior from an Applebee's, much less a restaurant of this caliber. We went to The Canal Club on a Saturday evening for a bachelorette party that we put in a reservation for two weeks prior. We were told they "lost" the reservation, and that maybe we could try coming back at 8:30pm instead (two hours later...). As we started calling around to see who else could take a party of 13 starving women on so late notice, the hostess informed us they "were able to make room for us". We walk over to our seats, where they had a put together a mismatch of tables and chairs together on the patio...fine, we were hungry and eager to celebrate the bride, so no problem. We each order beverages that took no less than 25 minutes to arrive to our table. Our food appeared in front of us before our drinks did, and the waitress stated that "the bar was behind" even though there were many many open tables at this point, but again, no problem. Before our drinks and our food get out, the waitress gives each of us our bill as a kind "please leave as soon as possible". So we can't order a second drink? No dessert? Extremely Tacky... Food and drinks finally arrive and we are enjoying ourselves and the bride. Before some of us can even finish our dinner, the same hostess appears with the manager standing at a distance behind to inform us "That people are waiting for your table..." with a fake grin. Never, in all my days, have I been asked to hurry and finish my food so they can seat another party WHEN THEY LOST OUR RESERVATION to begin with! This is a nice restaurant where each person in our party spent upwards of $40 each if not more, yet we were wasting their time?! The worst part of all was that is was very obvious the manager sent the hostess over to us, because they stood and stared us down until we got up to leave. Horrendous behavior and customer service.
Comfortable, nice ambience, friendly staff
Great and knowledgeable service staff
Lively but didn't have Blanton's Bourbon :(
so fun
The restaurant had great service and a nice aesthetic however I wished they had a wider gluten free and dairy free option.
Excellent food and service
Nice hotel bar. Outside seating
Nice atmosphere but extremely over rated
Gorgeous setting with a lot of room for big parties (lots of parties of girls there). Food was less exciting, definitely not traditional/authentic, and not Cuban. There are Mexican dishes (For example oaxacan pizza) and Spanish dishes (paella). The best things I ate that night were the scallops, appetizer of plantains with bean sauce (patacones/tostones and not the sweet plantains you may be thinking of), and the churro donuts. The paella was not good (wrong type of rice, undercooked, too soupy). Tres leches was not very moist, more of a vanilla cake with cream. Drinks were yummy. It's still a good place for a date or a fancy get together, but just be careful what you order, it can be hit or miss. Oh but GET THE DONUTS AND PLANTAINS THOSE WERE BOMB.
Delicious meal with an impressive server too.
Happy hour was awesome food was delicious pool was awesome
Really enjoyed our dinner here. We were invited to a friend's birthday dinner so we didn't stay at the hotel. But the restaurant/bar were beautiful. Price rating = $$$. Service was good and the food was delicious! Definitely coming back and recommending to others.
More people need to know about this restaurant in The Scott resort. The food is absolutely delicious and a lot of it seems to be seasonal. I recently had their duck dumplines and my wife had one of their salads. The server was very attentive food came out quickly. I really really wish more people knew of this place
The food is amazing, our waiter was nice but wasn't very proactive!
This place is freaking amazing
Uninspited... They just did a remodel of this old hotel, but it's still the same bad layout. The lobby bar looks nice at first, but it's still a lobby bar for a mid level hotel. There are SO many other fun places to go nearby...
One of my favorite nite cap spots. Absolutely beautiful venue in The Scott Resort with a relaxed but classy vibe. Lounge seating and a limited bar top, but excellent service wherever you settle. The cocktail list is unique, fun, broad, and of the highest quality. The bartenders are extremely skilled and the drinks are fantastic. Outside lounge seating with old classic films playing as well, adding an extra cozy scene to your evening. Definitely one of my favorite spots to hit after dinner for a high quality drink and fun atmosphere to chat with a date or group of friends.
Good food and atmosphere. Very true to the theme of the place.
Was a very nice, would recommend it
Food, drinks and staff are 5 stars, decor is a little too much.
Loved this place! From the decor to the service down to the food! Some of the best salmon and duck I've had in YEARS. Must try this spot! Inside of the Scott Hotel
Cool, airy ambience, Good drinks and friendly service!
Atmosphere, staff and drinks were good, not a dissapointment. Nothing special that made this place stand out.
My experience is limited to a lunch, but food is mediocre, prices are high, and cleanliness is questionable. It was obvious that they don't expect any non-staying customers.
Fabulous Lobby, warm fireplace, delicious fresh Cobb Salad, attentive service...
Very nice, classy Good food Great ambiance
The bartender at 9:30am on 11/24/18 was great! We held her hostage at our table because we enjoyed the conversation. I hope she didn't get in any trouble! She really made our experience a 5 star one! The food was excellent as well.
Great resort pass experience! Loved relaxing in the pool with my family on a hot day! Bonus to have drinks ordered poolside. Will be back again!!!
Reasonably good, somewhat laid back, hotel attached restaurant, on the quite side, enjoyable atmosphere, friendly, knowledgeable host, not tremendously variegated menu but good quality ingredients, well prepared and good tasting.
Stoppedby for a business lunch, great lunch spot, Havana themed lobby. I had the Duarte burger, which was served with an egg, great burger, then the fries with the amazing sauce (I forgot what is called). Try the ceviche with fried plantains and chips. I am gonna try the steak the next time I am there.
Very cool inside space
Nice atmosphere, sat outside. The brunch items all delectable!
Very nice Restaurant and hotel would recommend .
Nice resort , friendly Bar Manager and Bartenders
The food was good and the staff is friendly. Good service overall.
We can’t say enough about the terrific service and food and drinks! Connor made some great recommendations! Thank you for making our evening so superb!
This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to! They even have a kids menu. The dinner and breakfast meals were both stupendous! The staff is top notch and super friendly! This is good Cuban food. I am from Miami, but I am not Cuban, so it might not be 100% authentic, but it is so very close and so very delicious. Yes, it is expensive, but I believe worth it!
Great place to spend a beautiful spring evening in Scottsdale. The Friday night classic movie on the patio is worth a visit.
DJs is the best in downtown Scottsdale
Just had dessert and a drink. Server was really friendly and donut holes were yummy.
Nice Restaurant inside of a hotel. Quick simple food
Such a great time at The Canal Club! Yummy mixed drinks!!
Beautiful place
Very nice. Quite place to hangout.
Canal Club has been one of the most homelike places as someone born and raised in the Caribbean, not to mention their Cuban sandwich is the only Cuban sandwich I have ever tried in the U.S. that tastes like a genuine Cuban sandwich. 5 star service, 5 star BOH Crew and 5 star FOH Crew.
Very beautiful place inside the resort, has dining area as well as other group seating through out lobby where you can sit and eat.where ever you are you can be served drinks and food inside outside by the pool ect. Staff was excellent very friendly. Food we ordered was very good. Cuban themed with the food and decor around the resort.
Great service and delicious food. I highly recommend the donut hole dessert. Gorgeous setting!
Nice
Solid brunch items in a iconic Arizona hotel. Pro tip: get the churro doughnut holes
Good food, nice atmosphere and great service..
Excellent well prepared food though expensive. Excellent service. Not a lot of selection.
Great Cuban-themed restaurant with interesting cocktails, tasty food, and nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend
We started with some delicious, citrusy and tasty ceviche, nice size prawns, swimming in a fantastic cilantro and lime sauce, paired with unique plantain chips as well as blue corn chips. We also had their Duarte burger, w an egg on top in an English muffin-like bun. Really great flavor, perfect french fries...for the more conservative folks I’d maybe experiment with a different kind of bun, but I certainly loved it as it was!
How unfortunate that The Canal Club turned out to be such a disappointment. Having stayed there over the Christmas holidays, my wife and I were so excited to return. The hotel is absolutely stunning with so much consideration put into all the décor. The indoor and outdoor space of the resort is fantastic and the same goes for the restaurant itself. It really is beautifully done. That being said, the food at the restaurant didn’t even remotely live up to our expectations. There were four of us dining this evening and three of the meals sad to say were mediocre at best. The biggest issue with the food was that it was served lukewarm and seemed rushed in the presentation. Two of us had the duck, which resembled pulled-pork more than anything else. I’ve had duck numerous times at different establishments and I’ve never seen it done this way. The two portions were cold and disproportioned in size. My wife had the Gaucho steak and found it very disappointing as well. The steak came with two potato pucks, which were dry and unnecessary. Perhaps a flavorful vegetable would be nice. The crispy skin salmon apparently was delicious but having three out of the four meals be such a huge disappointment I can’t give the restaurant more than a two star rating. The service was great (one star), overall décor/ambiance of the space (another star) but that’s about it. I just want to stress that WE LOVE this hotel and will 100% return. But I hate to say that when we return we will definitely be dining elsewhere. Luckily Scottsdale has so many fantastic establishments to choose from. PS – The ceviche was also mediocre.
Had a great time my wife an I enjoyed ower self.
The waitress was really good I can’t say the same for the food. I asked for the kale steak salad finely chopped and it came out as huge pieces of kale with five tiny pieces of chewy disgusting tasteless steak and two tiny croutons. The kitchen was going to be closing soon but I have to say the worst meal I’ve had in a very long time. If your a big foodie I suggest u come only for a couple cocktails never the food. The few apps I had weren’t memorable.
Love the swanky and retro atmosphere, lots of varied seating, and the cocktails are creative.
A delight!
This place is instagram-able from top to bottom, so before I even start to talk about how good the food was, this is a cool first date type of bar...the drinks were good and the ambiance is perfect. The food was not the best food I ever had, but it was on brand it was simplistic and well done. The fried plantains weren’t too salty and with the black bean dip, that made it worth it. The season squash salad was really good especially with the goat cheese, it all blended together very well. Lastly the salmon was a good main for the night, especially if you want to keep it more on the light and healthier side. The server was attentive and the restaurant wasn’t overly populated which I liked. Definitely coming back to test out other drinks and more food on the menu.
Great food. Cuban style appearance, and Cuban themes cocktails, but the food was mostly not Cuban food that I have seen. The food was excellent. The beans and rice were great. I just wish I saw some bistec Criollo on the menu. However, I got a steak that was so good I didn't miss it. I would come back
The service was top notch! We had two of the tapas as well as the scallops and they were delicious. The cocktails were so good that we ordered seconds
Just left this place on 8.24.19 @12:45PM and will never return. We were excited as we live locally and already had a good idea of what we wanted, food-wise. We went to the bar area and there were a total of 7 guests at the bar and one bartender (Tall guy, beard and a man bun). Bartender was busy making other customers drinks so we sat at the bar patiently, two seats at the south end of the bar. The bartender seemed methodical in making the drinks but he was also very slow. We were not acknowledged or greeted at all. Four of the guests were taken care of and left which opened up a few center bar chairs and we moved to two of the chairs front and center at the bar, directly in front of the bartender. We have now been sitting for 10 minutes in front of the bartender and still haven't been greeted. I grabbed two menus. The bartender finally noticed I had grabbed two lunch menus and informed us that's it's brunch and provided us two brunch menus, still never actually greeting us or told that he would be right with us. Two new patrons came to the bar for drinks, which the bartender greeted and assisted and took both of their orders. It's now been 15 minutes and we simply couldn't understand why we were being ignored. Finally, we got up and left. The manager of this place should be ashamed of how we were treated and the bartender needs to be re-trained. We went to Postino down the street and had a wonderful lunch. This place just lost two local foodies that go out daily....very disappointed.
Nice place to try
Great food and relaxing atmosphere.
Food is good, but the menu has very few options.
Wonderful and clean
This is a great place to grab some drinks or a bite to eat! Very cute and well designed Havana theme. We were very impressed with everything from the service, drinks and food. Their burger and fried egg sandwich are delicious!
Food is amazing, drinks as well. Beautiful atmosphere and knowledgeable staff.
Cool atmosphere, cool Cuban vibe, great staff. We were expecting some upbeat cool Cuban music, but it was some weird elevator music. That was kind of disappointing but I still recommend you check this place out.
The food wasn't that spectacular.
Great environment. Quality service
Delightful and delicious! Highly recommend.
Super awesome atmosphere, great cocktail choices. Design wise this place is top notch and beautiful.
Amazing service, drink, ambiance, and food.
We very much enjoyed our time here. Very nice and professional staff.
A lot of the female employees seemed racist. We got the run around multiple times just trying to order food.
Good not great. I wouldn't knock the food, because it's fine, but for a restaurant that purports to be higher-end (and charges as such) I am forced to raise my expectations. The food is good, but you can do better for the price point.
Amazing drinks, reasonably priced, and awesome patio!! Will definitely go back
Cute decor, but not that great.
Simply wonderful dinner and ambiance
Good drinks, service could have been a little quicker
