Cari Meston

Excellent service awesome food. Yummy

Mark Loucks

This is a chain but you cannot beat their breakfast. Buckwheat Pancakes rocked my world. I am going back to try some more of the menu!!! The staff was very friendly and service was great.

gbain a Voker

Great breakfast place. Price not bad

Enah Green Meraz

Love the Dutch pancakes with lemon yum

Wendy Clark

Service was abrupt, they were more focused on turning the table for the next customer making us feel like we needed to eat, pay and leave a tip rather than letting us enjoy a meal.

Ashley Winkel

I was so dissappointed in this place. I really wanted to love it, but the food was JUST okay and the prices are very high considering the overall experience. There are far better breakfast places.

Kevin Joseph

Love this place my favorite breakfast place in The Valley - I'm born and raised here and when you become a regular, even better! The staff are sweet and the food delicious. Do not compare to the other locations in SoCal.

Colin Rasor

I love going here, parking on busy days can be hard. I have been stuck ordering the 49'ers for multiple years. Service is always excellent. Booths and tables all comfortable. They are also excellent at servicing large parties.

Michael Ristagno

Nicole was our server and was very attentive. We shared an apple bake which may take up to 40 minutes and you have to try it at least once, absolutely delicious and for sharing.

Shelley Curtis

Love the Dutch apple pancake

B D

My favorite breakfast in the world... Not to be confused with IHOP, the international, this is the original and best

Immanuel Chavez

Only been here once so far. Pancakes were definitely good, staff was friendly and quick to take care of their customers. I'll have to try an entree to get a good taste for the place lol But I like it so far.

Carlos

Normally I would happily and without reservation give this place a 5⭐for the 49'er flap jacks alone. But today I cannot. The 49ers were different. They were crispy on the edges, thinner than usual, did not absorb the syrup as much, and didn't have the delicious trademark chewiness. The spicy chicken and farmers patties were also dry. I will however be back to see if this is the new norm or just a bad day. I must stress my previous experiences have always been great.

ROSIE ALVAREZ

I have being going to this restaurant for over 15 years. With family or just myself it is always a great experience. Stuff is very nice, the place is always neat and clean. Strawberry french crepes, apple pancake and spicy chicken patties are my favorite. Highly recommended.

Gerri Dames

We've been here several times & LOVED it. They make their own chicken sausage. They have things on their menu that no one else has. All their help greets you with a smile. Nice people & good food.

marie young

What a big pancaké

Angelina Garcia

All we wanted was a good ol' fashioned "home made" breakfast. Rhis place delivered and beyond. The sausage and eggs were cooked to perfection and the pancakes...the pancakes were the Bizzy fo' Shizzy!! Our waitress, Breanna F was absolutely wonderful, professional and very helpful. Super cute young lady. I would highly recommend this little hole in the wall. So satisfying!

Demetrius Wilson

Loved it one of my favorite place to eat

Kwamesha Dee

I have had better food service at The Original Pancake House in Phoenix Arizona. The meal didn't seem to be fully cooked and the eggs were runny. Coffee was old and had no flavor

Tito Figueroa

The place is quaint and clean. We were greeted immediately by a very friendly hostess. The rest of the staff was also friendly and attentive however our server was subpar and lacked the personal touch needed to make the dining experience enjoyable. She rushed us into ordering and was hard of hearing so we had to practically shout our order out loud to her. Fortunately the food was good not great but palatable. She also did not fully answer questions my friend asked regarding certain menu items. Having said that we may return because the food was tasty and did come out in a timely manner.

Cathy Chiang

We loved the pecan pancakes! they were amazing. my husband and I sat at the counter and were quickly greeted with a smile and water. our waitress helped us navigate the menu and narrow down our selections quickly. she said "we have the BEST pancakes" we went with her selection of the pecan cakes and they did not disappoint. we had some eggs and a chicken fried steak....or shall I say my husband had the chicken fried steak...I ate the biscuit and graveyard as well as the potatoes...YUMMY.... if you are looking for a good breakfast I would encourage you to go! nice job original pancake house

Geroncio Copiozo

Good food and fast staff.

Inez Rivera

Wonderful service, Blueberry pancakes were served with a blueberry sauce with maple syrup and whipped cream, Heaven. The place was full.

Arturo Alvarez Solis

To expensive and the pancakes are to small, not good I don't recommend this restaurant, Ihope is better.

Mike D

1st of all, I thought it was kinda hard to find, no large signage, we were told large signage isn't allowed in Scottsdale. Anyways, Inside is nice and clean, the staff is nice, friendly and professional. The food is just average, even the buttermilk pancakes were kust average. Although my wife got the pumpkin pancakes, and she said it was really good. I got a special which had ham steak, eggs, hashbrowns and pancakes. The ham was so salty I sent it back. It seemed to take a while to get anotherone. But had same results. They offered for me something different, but my wife was done eating at this point. So I just asked them to remove the ham from the bill, and they did. I was expecting so much more, and I was very disappointed.

Judith Bowles

I love, love, love the 49ers! Hadn't been to an OPH in many years but they were the same as I remembered. This location looked very vintage 60's (original). Our server, Nicole was great!

Ramona Willis

Went here with some friends. My wife and I thought it was ok. Her sausage patties and eggs were a bit overcooked, but ok. My wife wanted the breakfast burrito but wanted to substitute sausage for ham but the waitress wasn’t sure if they could do that so my wife just ordered sausage and eggs with English muffins. They did give me a cute little fruit bowl of strawberries and bananas with whipped cream and a candle for my birthday. That was nice.

James Perkins

Family has been here countless times over the years. Aqua-and-formica booths and tables, not too large, superb omelettes (fluffier than the usual kind, with more-than-adequate fillings, and good-sized), the best hot chocolate anywhere, wonderful fluffy, large and often imaginative pancakes, like their famous Dutch Baby...this is a true classic old Phoenix breakfast spot. Easy but nice atmosphere. The good-natured owner is an animal lover, and donates to shelters--I appreciate this. Everything always clean, service friendly and efficient. Those who know...no frills, they come here. Limited hours.

Kellie SavageJudie

I asked for bacon and pecan pancakes and they actually made it for me!!! ☺️

Johnathan Kirkland

This is the most perfect place to get breakfast in the Arcadia area. My wife particularly loves the Dutch Baby.

Travis-James Smith

Amazing breakfast place. So good we drive 30km a second time to enjoy. Ask for Sherene. She is simply wonderful. Thank you for taking care of us.

Mike Harmon

It's like stepping back to the 60's or 70's inside but the pancakes are amazing! A hidden jem in Scottsdale just down the road from Scottadale Fashion Square.

Charlie Taylor

Best cheese grits in Scottsdale

Dirk Harris

The pancakes are still good they're just smaller.

Deeann S

Delicious, we'll be back real soon. Good breakfast, friendly staff. Try the specials...yummmm

Desert Rat

A throw back to another era. I've dined at the original Original in Portland, OR. Same menu, same great food, amazing pancakes, you can get ham steak not just pressed ham. There's a good reason they have a wait list for their turquoise and pink tables and booths. I've also spotted local celebrity chef's there for breakfast.

Amanda Civis

Breakfast was nice, small seating area, not recommended for large groups.

PATRICK AUER

Telling customers to pull down the blinds on a window booth at 7:30am when it's gloomy outside and not sunny at all and the windows are all facing south(with the excuse that the workers in the kitchen get blinded by the sunlight) and then arguing with me as a customer saying that the boss just wants it that way, is just plain rude and not smart customer service wise!!! Also the food was mediocre not much better than the omelette I would get at the Motel6 next door. I should have left before even placing an order. Will not come back to this place and cannot recommend it either for that reason.

taco rocko

my favorite breakfast restaurant when I am in Scottsdale, AZ. Recommend the Unique Dutch Baby, strawberry waffles, Potato Pancakes, blueberry pancakes, crepes and great oven-finished veggie omelettes. .. and the list goes on! Don't let the name fool you. A 1950's retro diner that is part of the Original Pancake House chain although Ron the owner has always taken pride in providing exceptional quality food and unique original consistent recipes for over 25 years. Highly recommend. Diners, Drive-Ins and dives should visit this place soon!

Monica Kountz

I love the pancakes from here yet on a carryout order recently we got syrup that was not the same syrup they serve at the restaurant. It definitely does not taste the same nor good .Really disappointing

A Cohoon

Yum! Yum! Yum! Love love love going to this establishment! We love trying something different every time we go in and it's always wonderful! My first time having potato pancakes was our last visit and I was shocked at how good they were and cannot wait to go back and try something else. They're also freaking friendly- it makes you just want to stay and drink coffee and talk all day. But don't do that!

Gary Knutson

Very busy place especially today being Memorial Day. They close daily at 1 PM and I think everyone decided to come at noon today. I had the chicken filled crepe with potato pancakes.... very tasty. Staff is very nice... waitress warned us the kitchen was very busy and would take some time to get food. I did not find the wait long at all and she kept our coffee cups filled. This is not a fancy place but very popular for a great breakfast meal.

Virginia Herd

This has always been a fantastic place to eat!

Gloria M

Great pancakes! Friendly staff.

Danielle Coleman

I LOVE this place! My boyfriend took me here for the first time and the food, drinks and servers were lovely. We even got to talk to the owner Ron who was the nicest while we waited for our food. Definitely coming back again.

William Herbison

The food was really good and the staff was very friendly

Elizabeth Yashar

Excellent food and great service!

Derek Forbes

Very good

Anthony R

OPH are usually an experience...this is one experience I would rather not have again. Other OPHs (in Minnesota) are an experience, usually an hour wait and well worth it. Here the experience is quite the opposite. Here the feel is a diner struggling to stay together (duct tape holding HVAC vents on, for example) and the food was mediocre. Eggs had the fluffiness of the OPH brand but were burnt and oddly lacking any flavor. The bacon options provided were regular or crispy and the regular came out well done (makes me wonder how crispy would have come out). When we explained the substitutions we wanted we were simply told No, Cannot do that. Every single other place will either do the substitutions or offer us the item a la carte on the side. Not offered here as that option until we asked specifically. In other words, they will not use their knowledge of the menu to help you order, you have to know exactly what you want and how it needs to be ordered.

Shane McCray

Decent breakfast. Place has been around for forever and is still there after not being back in AZ over 15 years

Steve Unruh

Fantastic Everything!

Georgia Eastlake

Amazing classic breakfast food. Tons of options and they're all great. I always love their homey feel.

Christopher Farrell

Incredible breakfast. Everything that I've tried is delectable.

karen kloss

No one, absolutely no one does pancakes better. Others may be good, but this place is King.

Jordan Urry

Great food and great service

Rod Werner

Great service food pretty dawg gone good The place is old but homey

Holistic Collaboration: Peeves, Tips, and Tricks

Not a pleasant experience. Took forever to get water. 2 scrambled eggs and a hot chocolatd. The hot chocolate was forgotten, ask for it a 2nd time and then it was delivered to the wrong table, ask for it a 3rd time but when it arrived it was super weak and undrinkable. My ticket was also wrong. They were busy but come on! It was a simple order with no substitutions.

Bear Peters

Dutch Babys, Potato Pancakes, and Swedish Crepes with Lingonberry sauce! All excellently prepared, what more can one ask in a breakfast adventure!

Greg Chambers

Great place. I have been eating there for 50 years. Quality Food, Service every time

Kevin Smith

Very busy place. Food was good and tasty. Staff was friendly and helpful. My only reason for taking a star is I thought the pricing could be better. My wife and I spent 25% more here for breakfast than we have on our whole trip.

Liz Jackson

Great food, fabulous service! No place better for breakfast in Scottsdale.

Dannon Matthews

Doesnt get any better than this...

D. K. Anderson

First I’d like to be clear in that I came to order and deliver food for Postmates. I was told they don’t do Postmates at all and when I asked it was explained that it’s because the customer that’s ordering the food doesn’t tip and the “girls” do all their own work. I waited tables for a good many years when I was younger so I got that. Well that’s kinda understandable so I left it at that. I was hungry so I ordered food to go for myself. The food was great but I started to think about the policy as I watched the waitress at the counter stop a conversation with a customer about her husband and children to take my order. She seemed put out and bothered and that wasn’t expected due to the fact they weren’t at all busy. My food was cooked and placed into Togo containers and all my server did was place hem in a bag and roll her eyes when I asked for Tabasco. I mentioned I didn’t need a lot but just a shake or two and she placed a Togo container with enough to drink in front of me not seeing to care about my request. As soon as she “did all the work” of bagging the food and draining a bottle of Tabasco and handing it to me she immediately dismissed me and continued her conversation as if I wasn’t standing there. This is inexcusable otherwise but the logic behind refusing Postmates and other door to door delivery services doesn’t make any sense at all. It’s almost as if they don’t want the money. I watched myself and didn’t see any effort beyond taping the POS screen to place the order and then bagging the packaged food(done by the cook). I will not recommend this restaurant on two things. The service and the policy that not hurts the bottom line but limits the customers desire to eat the great food in he comfort and privacy of their own home or place of work. The food is great but so is the food in places that act like they want the business and tray customers with respect.

Chris Ockenfels

They wouldn't let me sit at a booth because I was a party of 1, so they made me sit at a tiny table and stare at all the empty booths. When I asked to move to a more private tiny table, the hostess gave me a dirty look. I paid $4.00 for my coffee and left. Will not be going back.

David Norell

This local version of the national franchise of The Original Pancake House is a treasure of breakfast heaven. It is the only one for the State of Arizona. Located right next to a Motel 6, it is very easy to find. Their 49'ers Pancakes are delicious and addictive. My favorite to eat with them is the 'House Syrup'. My Sister eats it with Lingonberry Jam. They are open from 7am to 1pm Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday's hours are 7am to 2pm. Expect a wait to get a booth or seat before 12noon. The restaurant is very clean, well kept and the service is excellent! The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. New Edit! Now this great Breakfast restaurant has its own brand of coffee, my Sister and Brother-In-Law both loved the coffee there now too! The restaurant also sells a special brand of Real Maple Syrup available on request for $2.50 per mini bottle.

Joanne Dustan

Great great, b berry cakes...

Carlos Carlos

People are nice but the food just needed more flavor and the burrito was way to big they should make it a bit smaller and less potatoes.

Lissette Ontiveros

The Hawaiian pancakes are the best, the syrup that accompanies them is just simply superb. The staff was friendly. Always expect a wait, but it's worth it.

Phillip Marlowe

Great food, great staff. They have been great with my little one who's generally a little cranky by the time we get there Sunday morning. All the rest of my kids before they were her age were eager to order off an adult menu, the baby of the family wants to stay the baby of the family as long as possible. Though charming that resulted in her insisting on going to Denny's. Her stated reason is they have placemats and coloring crayons. This place is good enough that I'm seriously considering having an artist commissioned to make some placemats.

C Cuz

Had good breakfast an was very nice an best waitress so nice would come bac soon

Angela Ferrara

Everytime we come to Scottsdale we stop here for breakfast. The food is always fresh. The service is friendly and family like. Coffee is delicious!

John Runyan

Best breakfast in Scottsdale!

Nicholas Teodori

Old school and super delicious. The apple pancake is a must-try

Jeremy Steingraber

Best omlete I ever had was eaten here. Perfectly cooked!

E Dubs

Always good. Also good to know that the people in the pool can't look thru the window to watch you eat.

Andrew Drapkin

Awesome food and great service was immediately sat down and food was brought to me quickly I always get the pigs in a blanket its my staple breakfast

George Wolchko

I wanted bacon eggs and French toast but they don’t have eggs with the French toast and the bacon and eggs comes with pancakes. Any other establishment this wouldn’t be an issue. I asked to substitute and even said I would pay more. The waitress told me that wasn’t possible so instead I had to order everything separately. Add in that they have only Pepsi or Diet Coke cans at $2.25 each was enough to make me leave. If I wasn’t starving and busy today I would have found a different restaurant to eat at. I won’t be coming back here and I wouldn’t recommend. Lots of better choices around who will treat you like you are welcome. Hopefully the food doesn’t suck.

First Last

Great service and awesome food. The coffee is the best I've had in a long time.

Donell Allen

Great place to dine for breakfast, really good atmosphere with friendly staff, also the food is really good very consistent experience each time, also this place has integrity as well, I recently had an experience where on my final bill there was a mistake made to where I was charged an extra 5 dollars on my bill, I called them and within a day the situation was totally resolved, I'll definitely be going again they've definitely earned my business.

David Alfred

My brother has been going to this place for ever to get his "49er" fix. I go for the eggs and meat, which I always find satisfying while taking a trip back in time.

Sherri Monroe

Food is delicious

Nichole Coster

Hands down, best pancakes I have ever had. I will be back here when I'm back in town.

Michelle Detras

I normally only write reviews if I love something but that is far from the case with this place. I would give them zero stars if I could figure out how to. My nephew was starving and needed a good breakfast without having to wait too long. This place was not too busy and we found it had decent reviews. The portions were so rediculously small and the prices excessively high. Absolutely nothing special about the food. And the service was the worst I've had in years. Seriously. I have no idea why anyone gives this place good reviews or even ever walks into this place.

Kyle Vahjen

Cute little pancake shop. The food was great, the servers friendly, and the vibe is just what you want for a pancake house. The hostess was a riot, cracking jokes as she brought us to our table. Only downside was that it's a little pricey. I could see myself going back to try some of their more unique pancakes though.

Craig Hochreiter

Get the 49er pancakes.

Julie Kitchens

Just ok. Food was really bland... Including the pancakes that just tasred like nothing, pretty bad ...considering the name of the place, you'd expect the pancakes to be in point No gluten free options. Food and service were just mediocre.

Alicea Cragwell

This place is awesome. You can tell everything is made fresh and from the heart. One Saturday, my friend and I arrived 5 mins before closing time; unbeknowst to us it closed at 2pm. We asked if they would still serve us and they were more than happy to. Even though they had to rush to prepare our meals, the quality of the food was not compromised. Of course, we left a huge tip. Thanks, ladies!!!

Trinity Richason

Great staff! The location was a bit pricey but remember you are eating in Scottsdale. Very simple and enjoyable foods. Creative menu, but appears broad and scattered. Increadibly small location with limited seating so get there early. Overall pretty decent place for a breakfast with friends.

Elizabeth Norris

Ron- The owner is personable and has lots of people wanting to say Hello. The breakfast is one of the best around! German Pancake puffed pancake. Delicious!

Jon Macy

Clean and very good food.

Sean Bowling

Kind of a hole in the wall from the outside. But inside, the most delicious pancakes await. What's so special about pancakes? Once here you will find out! Delicious!

William Owens

I got a southwest omelette that was huge and came with a stack of three pancakes that were delicious. I would defiantly go back to this place. They had some special pancakes that take 40 minutes to cook so I didnt order them but I saw someone get some ant they looked amazing.

Mac Foucher

Great food

Robert Cantu

Awesome!

Cindy Forquer

Excellent restaurant for breakfast. Food and service was great

Christian Koons

Greg Bizzozero

Service was great. Perfect pancakes

Mark Ellington

The BEST pancakes anywhere but we need MORE RESTURANTS in Arizona!!

Chelley Lackey

I was a bit reserved about how good it would be. I used to love it back in the 90's. Yep it was still super yum. Just like i remembered.

Nedra Crouse

Large portions/Diner style/open/until200pm/credit now accepted/excellent service/lots of specialties.

Gabrielle Chung

Big menu. Nostalgic home cooking

Cedric Breland

Great food! However, being that I eat here probably 2-3 times a week, the Owner has never said a word to me! Not that this isna white/ black thing, I will say that my black money is just as good as the white people that eat there too! It would just be nice to recognize that people of color eat there too and he doesn't have to just be nice to the white's that eat there! And he is black as well, is the crazy part!

Jessica Heesen

Best breakfast ever!

cory fabiano

Decent breakfast place

Carrie Frazer

Very good breakfast!

Bill Taylor

Good food and friendly service, but pretty pricey. Paid $18 for a stack of buttermilk pancakes (which were delicious), coffee and two sausage patties.

Kelly Dougherty

The Apple pancakes are Amazing! Bickford's Restaurants make them back East, MA, NH, but this is the only Restaurant out West where we have found that makes them. It's worth the wait!

Pedro Romeiro

Very nice Pancake house, part of Scottsdale history

nash oliver

Best pancakes I've ever had! You can tell they're made from scratch.

Bill Armagost

Good food.

Paul E

Best pancakes in the USA!! Hands down.

Chad Valentine

We really enjoy coming here. Been there for over 40 years and serves homestyle breakfast. Nice diner environment.

Shay H

Great food, A+ customer service, very attentive and friendly staff.

Luchana Nelson

I was excited to try this place after reading all the awesome reviews. It was nice and not crowed, perfect time to go was today. No waiting for a free table! The wait staff is Awesome! The food not so great. I had pancakes with bacon in them. The pancakes didn't taste like they were fully cooked. I thought maybe because of bacon grease but when I asked the waitress she was said they are always mushy. I ended up eating only half of the short stack. I had a ham, bacon, tomato and cheese omelet. It was very bland, nothing extraordinary about the food for the price.

Mark Vladuchick

The original pancake house is a tiny little mom-and-pop feeling greasy spoon in the vibrant and often glitzy heart of Scottsdale. The atmosphere is quaint. The food, no matter what you get, is practically amazing! The crepes are thin and flavorful, the pancakes melt in your mouth. The giant breakfast burrito is jam packed full of ham and potato and pepper. Sure, there are other breakfast places. But they all feel like a restraunt. This place feels like you're stepping into someone's kitchen, and the quality shows.

Jonathan Puntel

Customer service was just bad. Flies buzzing around during breakfast. Wouldn't take any special requests for food. Food was mediocre. First and last time going there. Recommend Daily Dose, Scamble, anywhere else.

carrot man

Great place got food fast and waitress was very friendly and helpful

Dylon Mirti

Apple pancake!!! Well worth the wait! Service was great and the food was quick and tasty.

David Martin

I’ve eaten at a few of these places around the country and they consistently serve the best breakfast no matter where you go. I almost always get the apple pancake, It’s amazing!

Peter Tynan

Decent, diner style breakfast place. Clean and efficient at getting your order out. Food was decent, but nothing to write home about.

MarcellousHH Hazzard

The one in Chicago & Minneapolis is wayyyyyyy better. This location gives you smaller portions and the food isn’t all that.

Monty Meston

Great place, really great service and enjoyable atmosphere.

hells garden

Food good. Prices too high.

Jan Martin

Delicious food and great customer service. Try the specials on the blackniard. They are awesome.

Ruth Wolfe

Service was great

Janice Christensen

Always great food and service.

Sarah Anderson

Best French crepes. REAL whipped cream. Strawberry sauce to die for.

Sean Coons

I have been a loyal customer of OPH since the early 90's and it never disappoints. Homemade quality food and great no-nonsense service. Ron is a great guy and he hasn't changed this place since it opened. The food speaks for itself. Remember to bring cash because they don't take cards.

Jesus Liscano

This was my The first time there. And MY Last time . I will not give this place a recommendation.Jack in the box has better customer service! But the old waitress are mean!!!There customer service is horrible!!! There wait times up to 45 minutes or longer to get your food !!! Spend your MONEY ELSE WHERE!!!

Aaron Kruger

Awesome buttermilk pancakes! Great coffee!

Shawne McKnight

Loved the staff and the PANCAKE is the best in the valley. The home fries could use some seasoning, but overall good food.

zsazsa bonboomie

I’ve been a patron since 1994. The 49er pancakes are legendary. Good stuff. I just ate there this morning. I always wait to be seated in a booth.

Matt Ward

Great croissant breakfast sandwiches. Friendly atmosphere.

Greg

Great little breakfast spot! Not to be confused with IHOP, these pancakes are way better! If you've got time, try the Dutch boy, or apple pancakes....unlike anything else!

Jas Landa

I had a bad experience for being my first time. This place has very poor customer service. They took a long time to bring our food. Rushed us to eat and when bringing our check the server brought us another check that wasn't ours stated oh I'm sorry wrong table...when paying the bill the hostess was so RUDE!!!! I had asked her why she was writing my drivers license number, name and date of birth?!? If the payment wemt through?? She very rudely said it's OK ma'am I've been doing this for four months without explaining!!! Never going there again!!!

Jacob Schultz

The food there was very good!
