Really Great Food! Will be back soon!
Dirty store that doubles as a kitchen that seems doubly unsanitary
First time here was impressed with the authenticity of the dishes
The smell in the place is very bad. No AC. Looks like it is going to be closed.
I give this restaurant 40 thumbs down!! They have live roaches crawling around on the floor and I have video to prove it. Than they have small fecal droppings on the counter close to where the food is prepared!! If I was y'all I wouldn't eat there!! I am going to report them to the health department!!
Nawaz Indian Cuisine is terrible. All the dishes we ordered had too much salt and the ambiance was very dull. The food is also extremely overpriced. I would heavily recommend anyone to avoid this place at all costs. I'm surprised this restaurant hasn't gone out of business already.
The place looks dirty ,no neatness, I dont how healthy departments approved it
Can I give them a -1 review? I mean the place is dirty and I owner/worker doesn't care. Worst food ever. The Naan bread is a pita and the rice was too moist to the point that I thought I was eating rice balls. The chicken was like chewing gum. I will never go back.
Yummy food @reasonable prices. Although it is kind of a small place but can go for the tasty food
Depressing. Food just okay. The issue is the ambience. Never been to a more depressing place.
I loved it, very pricey but i love me some Chana masala
Pathetic food, service, ambience.
Absolutely delicious. Very excited to have this restaurant in the neighborhood. Thank you!
Worst place ever
I wouldn't even put this place as one star. The place was super hot, and humid, there was no AC on, plus they didn't even give us the right food. The food we ordered were some curries, but they gave us something completely different. It didn't taste anything like what we ordered. The price was not reasonable at all either. Service was not good. When we ordered tandoori naan, he said he didn't have any, and he gave us plain naan (the ones we have at home). The garlic naan didn't taste right. I know what Indian food tastes like, and it is not what this place served. We didn't even go through half of our food, wasted. :( Worst Indian food, never going back.
Worst food , dirty place , bad smelling, bad customer service they should close thier restaurant as soon as possible.
Worst food. They will provide food that has been prepared for weeks. Be aware of this place. If you wanna get sick try their food once and enjoy doctor visit :-)
The “buffet “ was so unappealing, had to use paper plates, the single women attending to the whole place, did not know English. Sorry but that was my first and last visit!
Amazing. Worth a walk in 107°>
Poor ambiance, bad taste, no way close to being authentic.
Great food! Balance of spices was good!
Pathetic food, nothing fresh, worst ambience
This was an amazing experience. First trying Indian food. This family owned and operated little resturant is a must try. Excellent service and food.
Ordered a takeout, good quality food, lacks business approach, professionalism, and the ambiance. For food yes definitely yes I will go back, one star missing on the above otherwise would have 5 stars.
We walked in and we're greeted by the owner and his wife. They have a small grocery section in the front and counter served indian food in the rear half of the restaurant. We ordered the Chana marsala and chicken Tikka marsala and both were amazing. We have eaten indian food all over the world but this is the best place we have tried in the valley. This is a charming hole in the wall that makes great food. We were pleasantly surprised and plan to go back more often
I really wanted to like this place. The food is alright, but the staff was a little pushy and we seemed to be a bother to them rather than customers. The rice and egg that came with our Biryani seemed like it had been sitting in a fridge for a while, the hard-boiled egg had gray around the yoke and the rice seemed clumpy. Don't know if I can recommend this place as I do plan on finding somewhere else to get Indian food.
Homely food
Great place
One word - Avoid !!!!
Excellent food
The food is excellent, but it's run by an Indian man and two Indian women, so the ordering process can be weird.
We ordered two entrees. One was bland. No taste at all. Second one was The lamb curry. It had so much oil you can see the orange oil on top. They mest up my dessert order. And didnt bother to fix it. The naan was dry and the food was cold and at $40 it was awful The lady who delivered the food was very late. When we called to complain that our food will be cold by the time she gets here were told to use the microwave. They legit didnt care. Not even a small discount for her being super late. $40 bucks was not worth it. The sizing for 40 bucks where small NOT MUCH FOOD. BAD CISTUMER SERVICE ALL AROUND.
Not Americanized, so the food had a much stronger spice flavor. Much better than typical watered down Americanized versions. This is the place to go for real East Indian food.
It is not worth what we pay for. Quality is also very very poor . I would not recommend to anyone to go over there .100% you will get disappointed . All of them forzen food. We were hungry and bought idli for 2 yr old and its was worst and smell was coming from it. we thrased it immediately . Coming to briyani . I dont know when /how the chicken were made and it was very hard . They keep the grilled chicken inside the briyani. In my lifetime i never came across it.. So please beware it. As i mentioned earlier we were hungry we didnt have time to read reviews and went and ordered. Lesson learned never ever going back again.
Not good at all. Not a clean place to eat.
Very tasty food
The food is really good I love the Andhra chicken curry! The people are very nice and friendly definitely a hidden gem.
Great dhabha style indian takeout. The have Dosa.. that is rare
I love Indian food! But the real test is the Tikka Masala. I prefer Chicken. It's the best sauce, but damn close!
5 thumbs down
Wow. Take some pride in your restaurant. The Chana Masala was about 3 stars. I walked in with the intention to sit down, but 3 seconds in I was not met with a welcoming site and I ordered to-go. The guy cooking was carrying his child and walking around in socks while cooking. There is a tire and just random stuff around the restaurant that is not being used for decorative purposes. This could really be a great little place geared towards the Indian Food eaters, but it just needs some additional effort. Like wipe down the menus. Setup a proper Point of Sale location. Store you boxes and tires in a different area. Greet the customer when they walk-in. Hide the kitchen area a little more. Put on shoes (i feel i shouldnt have to mention this). Do it in between customers and you might get more people returning instead of half your reviews being 1 Star.
Don't trust the reviews I had lamb curry with extra spicy That was really great Always try specials don't get struck with birayani Masala dosa is awesome Well packed for ToGo Easy to accesses
Ordered food off here from the UberEats app. The food was very delicious and arrived sooner than quoted. One minor detail was i ordered chicken koorma and received chicken tikka masala instead. Luckily i like masala so the mixup was not a big deal to me.
Very delicious! Highly recommend!
Poor service, expensive food, despite not being very good. Under seasoned.
Menus greasy, loud radio tuned to foreign talk, poor service, bad attitude. We left without ordering. And we love Indian food and culture. Found a wonderful Indian restaurant at Campbell crossing.
Bad
The worst Briyani ever had, kept a tandoori chicken in a rice and called it as Briyani waste of money. stay away from this place.
Worst Indian Food. Waste of money. It was so bad I had to throw it away.
Biryani is good here.
Place is lacking in atmosphere (to say the least) but the food is very good! Probably will get takeout or have it delivered next time--and there will be a next time!
The place is small. Owner is nice and the food is delicious
Good
Nice place nice people
Very rude and stingy with things like napkins.
Too much salty food..
A small and very cozy atmosphere .... the food is in comparison to comfort and very welcoming. Do not trust the reviews until you experience. As much as I wanted to finish my food I had no room left! I did not need to ask for any alterations to the dishes. In more than less words Nawaz is perfect for me . I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala , Spinach Pakora and Dosa with all the veggies ~ Definitely will be sure and come back again!
This is one of the worst Indian restaurants that I have ever been to. I don't know how the city food administration team is licensing this place. All rotten food with smell. I don't suggest anyone to go and spoil their health by eating at this place. The operation of this business should be banned in the first place.
It was delicious. 10/10
Rotten chicken
This is the most disgusting food i have ever purchased. The person working was also rude and refused to give my money back. The naan is store bought pitas coated in garlic, the paneer was gritty, the samosas were soupy and pasty, and they are not even serving basmati rice. Completely inedible. I threw it away.
Worst food
Bad. Ordered (for delivery) tikka masala and Andhra curry chicken, with garlic naan. Received half of the naan, the tikka masala, and some other random curry dish with goat or lamb. Both the tikka masala and the random curry dish tasted almost identical - nothing but overwhelming clove. No balance or complexity or depth. Just not good. The goat or lamb was tough and bony, with hardly any real meat on it. The garlic naan was doughy in the middle and sticky on the outside. This was the worst Indian food we have ever been served. We actually stopped after a few bites and ordered Popeye's Chicken.
This is the worst indian food I ever had in my life. Idly was pathetic, masala dosa below average, daal curry is actually taste like sambhar, Naan and white rice is ok. The food is not even worth for half the price.
Strange place!!
Biryani was decent, although they didn't remove green cardamom pods from final product, which was very unpleasant to discover. Lamb vindaloo was among the worst I've had. It way over spiced and had far too much salt, very bitter, and not spicy. Family owned and wasn't too bothered by poor customer service as I wasn't in a hurry but talked on the phone with my order ready on the counter for a good 5 minutes. Gave me time to look at the grocery items for sale at least. Pretty sure I won't return, which is disappointing because it's one of the few close south Indian options and I really wanted to like it.
Bad food.
Worst Chiken Masala Ever. Dry with no taste. Never going back.
Great hole in the wall Indian food! Friendly service!
Food is very horrible, beware and stay away. Silverware on all tables had dried food residue. The naan was store bought and they heated it added butter.
Food was very delicious, owner very friendly and delightful. Large portions at a great price.
This place is horrendous. I'm from the subcontinent and I can say emphatically that this is the worst food I have EVER eaten. The food was sooo over spiced. The taste of clove and cardomom was so overpowering that my girlfriend threw up and im still sick just thinking about it. I mostly cook Pakistani and Indian cuisine and since going there I have not been able to cook any of it. Please don't go there. They have no idea what they are doing.
The restaurant looks pretty rough but the food is very good. I eat here every time I'm in the area.
This convenience store doubles up as a restaurant. Humble seating, nothing fancy. Food is great. From authentic Indian dishes that are straight-up vegetarian to meat-centered entrees grouped in the menu by type of meat. It's all in the spices. It smells absolutely explosive. Delicious and divine.
One of the worst restaurant. Neither food good nor environment and top of this rude behaviour of owner/waiter.
This place is always welcoming and super relaxed. The food is top notch, best Indian food I have ever had!
easily my favorite Indian restaurant in Arizona the food is so good!
The Dum biryani is amazing! We eat here at least a couple of times a month.
Bad customer service. When I walked in, i was not acknowledged. Then when I went up to ask about a menu item, the man had a salty attitude and didn't explain much. He acted as if i were a pest. I wanted to try this place because I love Indian food and i live close by. But I'd rather go further and spend a few dollars more in a place that will actually be worth it. They also have a very small menu. Maybe ten different curries to choose from in total. Flavors of India on 16th Street puts this place to shame. Go there instead, FAR MORE worth it ; they have many more menu items to choose from, AMAZING food & amazing customer service!
I have never been so disgusted and angry in my life then when I had to choke on this poor representation of what was supposed to be Indian food. A store that sells food and acts as a restaurant trying to justify high prices for substance I wouldn't even feed a dog. I love Indian food and would have happily paid a little more for great quality service from Tandoori Times. I was a little concerned by the ghetto nature of the store but am willing to try anything once having eaten much better quality of food in villages north of Baghdad Iraq. I wished that I would have trusted my gut instinct when they did not have all of the materials to make what we had pre-ordered 30 minutes prior to us arriving for our "Indian food" take out. They told us to sit and wait as they tried to quickly cook a substitution from the menu. I was a little concerned when we had purchased 2 teas that combined were less than 16 oz. having paid $4. When I opened up our to go container of rice and realized that it was white sticky rice no different from what you would receive from a Chinese restaurant, my frustration rose. It went down hill from there because the goat masala and lamb koorma tasted exactly the same retaining bones in both meats. My blood boiled when I bit into the thick pita bread that was pan fried and sprinkled with garlic salt or onion flakes; the value of their garlic naan and onion naan. When the server/cook had asked if we had ever had Indian food or had been there before, I had almost wondered if they were trying to see what they could get away with from the non suspecting Caucasians. I do know quality Indian food prepared by some close friends originally from the outskirts of New Delhi. There are several Indian restaurants that are more authentic possessing a much higher quality of service in Phoenix, on Bell especially. I would not even rate this restaurant with a star because of the upset stomach I received from only eating half of the order that was not worth the time, effort or $36 dollar fee. STAY AWAY! Fry's foods has better quality of service and selection.
Yummy
Rude customer service. Ordered chicken yellow curry and got red curry. Tryed to take it back to get yellow curry. The person that took my order insisted that it was yellow with chillies powder even though I ordered it with no spice. Chicken was dry even though it was coated in curry. It made me sick after 20 mins of eating. I wouldn't recommend this place.
Food had no flavor and there where Crickets and roaches on the floor .I tried it once and will never return.
Excellent food and quick service. Owner obviously cares a lot about his business.
all the other reviews suck, but i ordered delivery at 1AM so that was super convenient. also some of the best chana masala and simosas soo
So, the Chana Masala is the best in the Phoenix area. And that is the reason for the good review. However, the restaurant needs a really good clean. The staff need to learn customer service. And they need to get air conditioning.
Omg, Chicken Tikka Masala & Chili Chicken!
After waiting for five minutes for someone to come out from behind close doors, I called out hello down the hallway from where I heard a sound. The man came out and yelled at me and my wife for being "impatient fools" and continued to berate us. We left, but both of us were shooken up.
The man who works here is very rude. No greeting when I walked in and ordered to have a seat and wait til the pick up order was ready. He just wasn’t nice. OH and he didn’t have gloves when he was touching the food that he was preparing and you could obviously tell his hands weren’t clean.
Food was ok. Environment was very awkward.
Very dark and uncomfortable eating area. I got a Togo order and the ladies working didn't greet me in any way when I arrived. I did I was for a Togo order and she pointed to a chair and said "sit 10 minutes". I waited then when order was ready she said "to go" and placed on counter and walked away. No "thank you", no "have a good day"... Nothing! I won't be going back
Got really slow on the order making, no customers in here either, waste of my time honestly. Lack of professionalism and courteousness.
Solid 4 stars I had the chicken tikka masala to go With naan and samosa on the side -1 star because i think the naan was store bought and the interior was a little funky. The tikka masala was really good string flavor cooked fresh and full of chicken. The samosa was especially good for just having potatoes and vegetables inside , must have been the spice.
Literally go here all the time!! I would recommend this restaurant/take out to any new comers to phoenix wanting to try amazing food :) Along with great food, I feel very welcomed and immediately acknowledged. Wonderful customer service. The place is always clean, it's easy to locate the building within the plaza.
Bad food ever had... customer service is also so unwelcome
Hot but good
Great food
I Asked For The Price Of The Food And After I Ate The Food Was More Than Priced Way More Than Expected
Vegetable biryani it has no vegetables not even a carrot, it’s like a Masala rice I eat in lot of places It’s insane. Please make sure vegetable biryani in this place is like a masala rice no vegetables period that’s what I have told when I spoke to restaurant. I never recommend any one to order vegetable biryani in this place. What is vegetable biryani? For me mixture of vegetables with some spices and rice. I am sure not a masala rice. It’s unprofessional, unethical.
Food was really good. Nice spicy taste. Will come again. :-)
I enjoy this place and have been here a doze or so times. The staff is nice, but they are very quiet. The atmosphere is not going to impress anyone
Home cooked meal the lamb biryani was so good and the owner was very kind.
Worst food ever. I went with my wife today during lunch,& ordered chicken biriyani, garlic naan & chicken masala. All food were frozen, & the lady started preparing them right in front by taking each one out from the freeze. 1. Chicken biriyani: An amalgamation of pre cooked pulao, tandoori chicken (from the buffet) & a cold egg. Rating (.5 out of 5). b) Naan: A frozen naan was baked/pan fried. I really don't want to rate this . c) Chicken masala: The entire dish was previously frozen. Some sort of mother liquor was mixed ,the stuff was heated & server. Chicken was super hard (as those were refrigerated, never brought to room temperature before cooking).Rating(.5 out of 5). Final thoughts: The lady at the counter asked me about my experience & I curtly complained about the hard chicken. She tried to explain me that the pieces were from chicken breast meat which should have been tender. I stopped my conversation right there. Please don't go at this place .
Poor quality food
Excellent lassi pakoras samosas open 10 am to 9:30 pm 7 days a week
I go here regularly. The food is awesome. Atmosphere is very casual, has that authentic feel, rather than that pricey restaurant feel.
Terrible food, worst Indian food I ever had. It’s dirty there. Poor service. I am surprised how they stay in business like this. Not recommended at all. I wish if I had eaten at subway close by.
Great restraunt, real authentic food, absolutely the best, dishes well priced, I definitely will be coming back!!
Worth a visit. Good food, well priced.
Absolutely filthy place. Walked out after 1 minute!
A bit too pricy..
For the atmosphere and the frozen naans they give the price is too high. I would expect the price to be much lesser for the type of low class restaurent it is.
The naan was good enough to eat by itself. This is the only place I know I can find Thumbs-up cola and gulab jamun.
