This Restaurant belongs to the category of Steak house.
Great views, great drinks, poor food. Have visited multiple times for food and tried many different items on the menu. It has consistently been poor execution of dishes over the last year of trying. For fine dining, it’s quite disappointing. But I do return for the great drinks, friendly and exceptional bartenders, and unbeatable views! Don’t waste my time, money, or hopes in the food though.
Went here on a date with my boyfriend. Views, food and service were all amazing. The entrance has a great patio for cocktails or casual conversation. The front door is 1000 lbs of stone and is beautiful in addition to a crystal art gallery in the interior of the restaurant. Also, there is a bar with seating inside if you want to skip the wait, but it still has a view so it's also worth it!
The restaurant is very nice and the location is just gorgeous! We ordered two Gringo burgers with the sweet potato fries and one with the yucca fries as well as the veggie quesadilla. The food was very good. We have three children and they don't have a kids menu so that made it a little difficult to order. I would not say this is a kid-friendly place. Overall good experience.
Came here with family for lunch. I had ordered the chicken sandwich with coleslaw, it was delicious. I liked the coleslaw but thought it could use an extra something else to add more texture to it. This is a great spot to eat whether it's for lunch or dinner
Overall we had a great experience. Our waiter was wonderful and we had no complaints about our meal. Their portions were huge and we definitely left full. If we hadn't celebrated our wedding there I probably wouldn't go back due to the high prices and I believe my husband grills up a perfect ribeye.
Food was good, service was alright, ambiance was fantastic. Didn't feel like the price point matched the product and service received, but no complaints specifically. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a place that looks amazing, hard core foodies may find it lackluster
By far the most amazing food and view I've ever seen for a restaurant. Worth every penny.
We have been here twice and both times extremely happy with our experience. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the ambiance is amazing.
Fabulous food with one of the greatest views you'll ever experience.
An great meal with an incredible view that will take your breath away. Staff was on top of everything. Don't leave here without trying the Yuca fries.
My husband and I sat at the bar for an appetizer and a glass of wine. Our bartender was very good and our appetizers were delicious! The scenery is breath taking!
Amazing food and drinks. The view is outstanding as well. We had a very large party and our waiter was fantastic. This is one of my new favorite places to go. I plan on returning often!
Tasty well presented food. Staff friendly, a bit pricy for the average tourist. Make sure you make bookings, they do get pretty full
Such a beautiful place with amazing food. It overlooks the Red Rock Mountains. I loved the empanadas here.
Best restaurant I've ever eaten in. Magnificent view, clean contemporary fare. Terrific service and amenities. A don't miss experience without breaking the bank.
Absolutely amazing food. Wonderful service and incredible views. You owe it to yourself not to miss it. Well worth meal price. Beautiful front door and artwork throughout
Food was good, wait staff was not. Very slow, didn't bring us things we wanted and had to get up and get it ourselves, had to request refills of tea... For this price tag we expect good service. Beautiful views and the guitarist was good.
Great food, service, atmosphere and the decor was amazing. We sat in the dining room and enjoyed the wonderful music and fantastic Red Rock views. Absolutely breathtaking!
This was our first time to this location as we are vacationing from New Jersey. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I will definitely return the next time I am in the area.
The view of this restaurant is absolutely beautiful. I can't not express enough how nice and peaceful it is. I will definitely be back just for the view. Food was ok. Definitely Mexican American. Not traditional Mexican food... but good.
Beautiful location with inspiring decor. The server was great. Delicious hamburger. Mac and cheese was okay. Only downside were the tortillas with fish tacos--fish was good but the corn tortillas we bad (dry boring kind found a supermarket).
The hostess ruined my 50th birthday dinner. The server was also forgetful, slow and never brought me my birthday desert. After 30 minutes to get the check, we just left and didn’t even mention the desert we ordered. Awful experience for a lot of $$$. Save your money and go somewhere else. The Hostess was a real piece of work too. Never been so disappointed at a nice restaurant. My whole party was in a terrible mood when we left here.
Amazing experience for our 30th anniversary. The staff is terrific, making sure everything is just perfect for you.
We had our own private table in the wine room sitting on chairs designed by frank lloyd wright (we love mid century furniture). Service was impeccable and very entertaining. We started of with items from the buffet, locally sourced burrata and breads, tasty sushi rolls and chilled seafood. Then we ordered multiple small plates of hot food from the kitchen, every one perfectly prepared and presented. We ended the brunch with the dessert buffet. Definitely get the unlimited sparkling wine and mimosas!
Great service, our waiter was outstanding! Drink were okay, nothing over the top.. but the food which was the whole reason for going here was Sadly quite the let down. Way overpriced food that was well below par. Two stars just for our waiter.
Best meal I have had in years in a beautiful setting. Pricey but well worth it. Get reservations!
Brittney and Walker were THE best! Excellent conversationalists, amazing suggestions & beautiful views. An absolute must !
Service, food and view were excellent. Company I was with also gets 5 stars.
Do not compare this with most Mexican/Latin restaurants. This is truly unique and high end. Absolutely stunning location, staff, service and amazing food and drinks. Best views for sunset anywhere in Sedona
Great food, their burgers and sweet potatoe fries are amazing! My wife loved their side mac and cheese too! Very nice place to relax and enjoy the view no matter the weather.
Beautiful view...great service...Tapas hit the spot for a light meal
Everything we had was incredible and the ambiance can't be beat!
The Fungi Sublime is THE BEST burger I've ever had in my life. Yuka fries are amazing too.
Cannot imagine a better dining experience. Elegant yet relaxed. Classy yet modern. The strip steak was incredible. You can sit outside for incredible views of the surrounding Coconino National Forest or inside for a more intimate atmosphere.
Latin American food NOT Mexican , very nice upscale restaurant, impressive views to the red rock mountains with the option of dining in their front yard with view to the them. Food is good but a little too pricey portion are regular size so not good idea sharing , huge selection of wine and coctels, costumer service was great cant complaint about it , very recommended for a romantic night dinner with your other half. It seems it gets really busy on weekends so reservations are highly recommended.
I really enjoyed our dinner here! The service was fantastic. Our waitress Erin never rushed us through the courses. Our food came quickly and was delicious! The desserts were amazing as well. Definitely come here if you want a beautiful view of the red rocks!
Great food great service. We called in a reservation of ten people, they accommodated us for lunch. Servers have an attention to detail.
Very nice place. Pricey but good food and service.
Delicious food and beautiful views. Great for formal dinner reservations, or stop by the upscale bar to loosen up some muscles from a day of hiking. Indoor and patio seating are available.
Mariposa has one of the best views in Sedona and maybe all of AZ. We ate on the patio with the misters keeping it quite comfortable. The service is outstanding and the food is very good. Highly recommend visiting whether a local or a visitor.
Amazing view, great ambiance, great food. I visit every time while in Sedona.
Fantastic food, great service but rather pricey. Had our best meal of our vacation. Views of Sedona were spectacular at sunset .
Delicious!! Amazing dining experience. From start to finish, this is a world class experience. My favorite part were the margaritas- both Charles & Raymond are excellent bartenders. Very attentive and great service time. We sat at the bar to eat because we didn’t have reservations and our food came with 5 minutes! Amazing!
Excellent food and amazing staff really enhance the stunning views here. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and attentive without smoothing you. All the food was cooked to perfection.
I love this place what have you have to try it out I'm from Chicago can't wait to go back to Sedona
We were here for my roommate Sandy's birthday, and I would love to go back for my own birthday. Looks like something you would see in Scottsdale. It's much bigger than you would think from passing by on 89A.
The food was just ok, and Waiter we had was well was very good or helpful at all. We felt rushed by other staff and our experience with just a sad one there. Beautiful building thou, and the shops where all nice.
A friend suggested Mariposa. We had lunch on the patio. Staff was friendly and professional. They welcomed our small dog. Fantastic views of red cliffs above Sedona. Try the Yucca fries. Beautiful decor very clean. We are going back for dinner.
Fantastic food, great experience! Wonderful view! Kitchen and Chef did an outstanding job. Service was fabulous!
Celebrated my wife's birthday there. Drinks and dinner on the patio with an awesome view. Total experience was wonderful.
As a local been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, so I guess I had high expectations. For a $140 w/tip this was all we got plus one glass of champagne. Had to send our stakes back because they were rare. Still came back a little too rare. Lobster was flavorless & fillet stake was ok... Atmosphere was beautiful, but the outside dining tables were cheap (as if were were eating outside at Smash burger) table was dirty & sticky. For a high end restaurant this is not acceptable. Service was ok, we felt a bit rushed, definitely not the type service you want if you ‘wining and dining’ Most likely we won’t be back. There are many more restaurants in town, even in Old Town Cottonwood, that have much better food & service for the price. This was a sad disappointment :(
Love this restaurant! I have been several times and I have never been disappointed. All their food is great. Service is really good too. You definitely have to go if uou haven't been.
Fabulous! Turned in by accident, decided to try it out. Beautiful inside, great views on the veranda. Food and service were both excellent, and it was surprisingly reasonable in cost. A memorable lunch.
Mariposa is a must see restaurant. The views here are amazing! Besides the views the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had a great time and loved the food. Can't wait until we pass through Sedona again. Definitely going to make it a priority to stop in.
Amazing service and food. Not to mention the unbeatable view - make reservations before
This place has award winning burgers...wish we were staying longer to try them all !! Loved the architecture and amazing views!
Decent spot. Nice views inside and out. Great waiter (Keith). Food was good. Only drawback, our valet guy (J?) tried to turn us away on a Saturday at 7pm. Said they were too full inside and parking. We said we were joining a party, we weren't. Walked up and got seated without a wait. Hmmm.
Fabulous views in daytime, elegant on the evening. Good food. Take all my visitors here
We had two lunches here in March 2019. The biggest liability of this restaurant is the parking. We were able to get a table both times we ate, but parking was tricky. Best to come before noon. The view is hands down the best I have ever seen, with a panoramic view of the red rocks from every table. Waitress Kelly was efficient and enthusiastic. The food is south American inspired, lots of meat. Spicy, but not too hot for a novice, and was delicious. I was constantly surprised by the taste. Lunch for 2, no drinks, with dessert, was $80.
Very annoyed. Booked reservations in advance specifically for patio seating. When arrived they said there was a 45 min wait and that there is no guarantee on seating. I would have expected them to say that when booking. Otherwise looks lovely but would have expected more customer service.
Food is good, but calling to make a reservation is stressful. They couldn’t hear me, I am almost sure I will have to play guessing games with what name the table is under, and she rudely hangs up. If the food wasn’t good I would just noshow
Excellent service, and the food was delicious. The price is comparable to other steak houses I've visited and the views are gorgeous.
Great food, great scenery, and a wonderful serving staff. This place rocks!
Excellent service and awesome setting for a romantic dinner.
Great food, great service but California politics make this establishment a safe zone for criminals.
Best views and great food. Must try if you are in Sedona.
Our waitress was fantastic. Great food. Wonderful view.
The food was fantastic and great service too!
Amazing costumer service, view and the food is always great. Is worth the drive from Flagstaff
Wonderful place to enjoy lunch or diner! It has the most amazing view if you sit outside! The waiter was knowledgeable and the food was delicious. Service was fast & the drinks were also good!
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent views, inside and out. The Funghi Sublime, was indeed sublime.
This review is in regards to the lack of customer service from the Mariposa Restaurant. Recently, we celebrated our fiftieth wedding anniversary at the Enchantment Resort in Sedona. We asked the concierge at Enchantment for a restaurant recommendation. She suggested we talk to Heidi at the Mariposa restaurant. Heidi then referred us to Todd who was responsible for making reservations for a party of ten. My son, wife, and myself sent emails and called Todd hoping to make a reservation. I also called the restaurant and talked to a hostess who was very rude and said Todd would call me in ten minutes. Todd never called me. After five days, Todd sent an email stating the restaurant could not make a reservation for ten. A party of ten was too large for the restaurant to accommodate. How difficult is it to respond to a customer’s inquiry in a timely manner? Also, after we made reservations at another restaurant, my wife sent an email to Todd expressing her concerns regarding this incident and how it affected our anniversary planning. Again, Todd never responded to her email. It was obvious the restaurant was not interested in providing good customer service. Unfortunately, this is typical of restaurants located in tourist areas. Why bother when these customers won’t be back. I would recommend you take your business to a restaurant that provides good customer experience.
Delicious food, not really Mexican like some people said but Latin fusion.
The food is excellent. High scale food in a casual atmosphere. Waiters and bartenders showed excellent customer service. The bartenders stand out at this place. Craft cocktails made the way the were ORIGINALLY made. Fresh juices, correct garnishes and knowledgeable bar staff.
We arrived at 4pm for drinks and tapas. We wanted to enjoy the view outside so we were told that we could order at the bar and then take our drinks out front ourselves through the heavy door. The drinks were awesome and the bartenders were fun and informative. I asked the hostess if there were any tables for dinner and she said flatley " check back with me at 5 and we will see" I went back to the table and laughed ..trying to understand the reservation process..we didn't hang around to see if we had "made the cut".
The items here were a little speedy for what was offered. What made this three stars were the staff and feel of the place.
We celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary with you, and our two birthdays, all the way from Florida. We couldn’t be more pleased. From the incredible service to the amazing dishes, to the phenomenal cocktails, everything was top notch. Now, add the views... PERFECTION. Can not wait to return.
Good was amazing as was the service. Food prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity but the drink process are high.
I'm in the restaurant business and usually won't add that little tidbit when reviewing one. However, I want there to be no doubt about my review's integrity... this place hits on all points! The building is beautiful. The view is mesmerizing. The interior is spotless and perfectly sized and decorated. The food for our party of 9 was perfect and the service was attentive and prompt... very friendly staff. A must if you are ANYWHERE near Sedona. Def call ahead and arrive early enough to enjoy a cocktail while absorbing the picturesque view or at their beautiful bar.
Fantastic food, first class service, incredible views.
We were so impressed at lunch with the food, the service and the incredible views we bought a $200.00 gift card for friends as a wedding gift!!! This place rocks and every detail is stunning. Can’t wait to return.
Absolutely phenomenal experience! The Views are out of this world. The Food was Delicious. The Service was awesome and the Ambiance was perfect. Went there for lunch and we’ll be back for sure!
The food was remarkably good and the presentation was phenomenal too. We ordered the goat cheese quesadilla, yuca fries (taste like steak fries) and a side of mac and cheese. Not sure which one I liked the most because they were all delicious. We sat outside and had stunning panoramic views.
Fantastic, best restaurant in Arizona . Bin there 6 times can't say enough about how good they are.
Food was great but service was.. strange. My friend has severe allergies that we informed our server about... Got the sides that had said allergies and she was kind of rude about it. It was very much "well do you want it or not"... We kept them and were charged for them and my friend ordered something else, which is fine, but we all were really put off by how our server handled it. We also were ready to order several times she came by but she'd quick say hi and keep walking... Just, again, strange. View and food was great... Maybe she was just having an off night.
This place has that 'wow' factor. Great views, gorgeous establishment, exceptional food. I got the seafood trio and loved it, the scallops stole the show. Charred cauliflower was delicious also. Its pricey but worth it.
Delicious gourmet food, great service. Patio seating gives a spectacular view in 3 directions. Awesome.
Food was amazing! Beautiful place! Staff was super friendly! Made our anniversary perfect! We will be back!
I like coming here for a tasty flatbread, craft beer and beautiful views after a long hike.
Food was decent. However our flatbread kept sitting on the kitchen counter for 15-20 minutes and obviously arrived cold. We were served by 3 different servers and none of them bothered to take care of us. I can see the last one of them …
Had a girls weekend and selected this restaurant for dinner on our last night. I ordered the seafood trio and did my other girlfriend. Both dishes were cold, not lukewarm but cold. Macaroni and cheese was also cold. Food taste was ok. Probably save this place for a spot to go have drinks but not necessarily food.
Great views! Decent food! Location is great.
Disappointing experience for our anniversary. Food was pretentious. Forgettable for fine food. At least the Pollo Rustico and Skirt Steak which we had. Ridiculously overpriced. Service was better than average. You pay for the view but if you're looking for views they all around you in Sedona.
Besides it's impeccable design like the large entrance door being made of beautiful crystals and minerals, it is in an absolutely stunning location surrounded on all sides by majestic views of the rich red mountains and plateaus of Sedona against sparkling blue skies. The inside was also very tastefully designed with large glass windows that let in lots of daylight and the ability to still see the gorgeous views from inside. I loved the touch of many of the decorations of natural crystals inside the restaurant and the tranquil water features outside. The ambiance inside and out was very relaxing. We received excellent service from a very attentive, patient and kind server named Lawson. The food was pretty good and very fresh and well seasoned. This was overall a very pleasant experience in a lovely location.
This is a fantastic restaurant. Some of the best food we’ve had, along with the most gorgeous view. The ambiance is lovely inside, but we like to come early enough to see the sun on the mountains. It is a must-visit. We live in Scottsdale, but we don’t mind the drive back after this dinner.
It was busy, so we ate at the bar. Josh, the bartender, took his time giving us his full attention even though he was busy. After hearing the fish special was halibut, I had to order it, and then show Josh our halibut fishing excursion pictures. We swapped a few fish stories and Alaska stories while we waited for our food. We could see the cooks from our seat, they work hard! Our food came pretty fast and was delish! We just got main courses and one side, and that was more than enough food. The couple next to us shared an appetizer, salad and main course... They had a lot of food!! I don't think I could have eaten more than the big bowl of mussels they ordered as their appetizer. Anyway, they food was great, but what made the night outstanding was chatting with Josh. And all the staff was a lot of fun... Even the valet attendants having a foot race to come get our ticket!
Breathtaking views, lovely service and great food. Reservations a must.
Stunning setting and fabulous food. Everything we ate ( party of 6 ) was excellent. The guacamole was some of the best I’ve ever had. Drinks were also strong and delicious.
Amazing place food and service...treat yourself
Absolutely amazing! Cesar was awesome and took GREAT care of us! The food was great and came out perfectly. The location is easy to get to and awesome to view. We will 100 percent be back.
The view is only upstaged by the menu.....its a rare opportunity to have a spectacular view and a spectacular meal in the same venue...if you have an hour t ok sit and enjoy I highly recommend spending it here.. .
Amazing view and ambiance. Good service. Good cocktails and great eine selection. Dawn was a great server. Party of 6 with 4 and 2 year old. Everyone was patient. Interesting and unusual menu. Very good food. Steaks, seafood, vegan. Amazing churros and other desserts.
Food and service was really great. We sat on the patio and they had heaters and a big fire pit which made it really comfortable. Really romantic lighting and ambiance. We had the catch of the day which was Halibut and it was prepared perfectly. It had a slight kick to the dish but it was perfect. So good I forgot to take pics!
Great dining experience. Gorgeous restaurant with one of the best views in Sedona. Highly recommend for a special occasion. Definitely want to return
The service was terrific, the food exceptional and the views amazing. We had the octopus, mushroom flatbread, and the fried avocado...then the macerated berries with lemon gelato. Want to go back to try more of the menu. EVERYTHING looked so good!
We just sat at bar for drinks and appetizers. Great service. Nice selection of whiskeys.
My husband says the muscles at Mariposa were the best he's ever tasted. I thought all the food we had was fabulous. Service was terrific. We will be back.
Food was good but disappointed to the fact I came for my daughters birthday... Hostesses said happy birthday... but that was it.,... but as we watched the table across from us got sang to for their birthday..-server never went out of her way for my daughter to make her feel special on her special day
Good wasn't very good, waiter was amazing so was the view
Food and service were very good but have a valid complaint. My daughter, who was wearing new white pants she purchased with her own money, sat in a wicker chair at the table that was loaded with salsa and/or sauce. She discovered it when …
This was such a great dinner!! We went at sunset on a Sunday, we got to watch the color change on all the mountains, it was insanely gorgeous; they couldn't have gotten a better location in all of Sedona. Lisa's menu is to die for! We did a special pre-fixe menu that had prawn shrimp, amazing salad (with a chipotle ranch that was drool-worthy), and a 34 Oz. Tomahawk Steak. They even went over and beyond for our anniversary giving us a little extra something for our dessert. Oh and don't miss out on the paloma cocktail, it was so good! Go here, save if you have to, its worth every bite!
Beautiful ambiance. Deliciously flavored meals. My sister found a live worm in her dessert. "Sorry about that." I've had better customer service at Olive Garden. Mariposa appears upscale and is priced on the high-end, but it's all superficial.
As far as views go, Mariposa has the best views in Sedona when it comes to restaurants. This is very upscale restaurant, and the food is delicious--but, expect to drop a lot of money to get what you want. I suggest sitting on the outdoor patio to watch the sunset. I will always love this place, but can't afford it more than a few times a year.
The scenery is incredible-indoor & outdoor seating. The food was delicious. I would recommend the green goddess salad & scallops. Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake- rich & so yummy. We had some other dishes but those were the best.
Supporting fellow female chef Lisa Dahl as she takes over Sedonas culinary scene. Her inventive and well executed menu will deliver all you hope for. The views are breathtaking!
The ambiance is wonderful, excellent acoustics make for pleasant conversation, and the dining areas are comfortable visually and in the seats. Having said all that ... the food is interesting and well prepared while being wildly overpriced for very meager portions. We will not return.
Fabulous views as you enjoy very taste and yumming food.... very unique pairings of meals... You will want to return often... ĘNJÖY this special place and Chef
Mariposa is elegant, refined and unique all in such a low key stylish way. I ordered a quesadilla, this is street food, but the way Mariposa imagined it, it elevated it to a beautiful meal.
Fantastic chef great menu definitely a special event place to visit. Mariposa has the most amazing views and watching the sunset against the mountains is life changing. The wait staff in the restaurant are really first class they take great care to make sure all is perfect. The bartenders not so much no happy hour but the cocktails are very good.
We had a magnificent lunch here. Lisa was our server and she did a phenomenal job. Chef Dahl is amazing and attends to every detail. From the cocktails, salads and mains to the the casaba fries and desserts - so full of flavor. Lunch might be the best time to go since you don’t necessarily need a reservation. We loved our extended experience today.
Strange service. We had reservations for four people for a 60th birthday dinner. We sat down and the waiter was friendly and helpful. We ordered our food. A basket of bread was delivered with two rolls. Within five minutes of ordering our food was out, even before our wine and drinks. Didn't get our rolls until after the meal. Drinks didn't arrive for 15 minutes. I understand restaurants want to turn tables but this was rediculous. Definitely a poor experience.
People are clearly delusional about this place. The scenery, ambiance, and service is amazing, food is such a disappointment! “Ceviche” is over cooked shrimp in ketchup sauce. Empanadas were cold and bland. Aguacate Frito (yes, I know what it means), was over fried and the complimentary bread was hard enough to chip a tooth. This place is a joke, save your money. Definitely will not be coming back!
Our second visit didn't disappoint. Delicious food and perfect ambiance.
Had the most amazing experience here on vacation. Perfect atmosphere sitting on the patio with the red rocks backdrop. Delicious gourmet food. And honestly, the best service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. I will 100% visit again my next time in Sedona.
Steak was cooked perfectly. When I first arrived they were a little slow. Then another person assisted me and was excellent. Food was quick, very good service and I will go back.
Our 1st time here, it's now one of our favorite places! 4 of us had a fantastic lunch here. Our waiter, Michael was great, he explained the menu and made some suggestion which were right on target. Super clean place, including the restrooms. Atmosphere is also very nice. We sat inside but outside tables looked very comfortable. We plan on going back very soon. Oh, and the views just don't get any better, exactly what you expect in Sedona.
Very nice ambience, excellent views. Fish tacos very good and gluten free as well.
Truly inspired cocktails in a stunning setting. The view from the patio is the reason many come to Sedona. The food was excellent, cooked to order and varied. The cocktails and wine were excellent.
