I've been eating here at least 3-4 times a month for the last 2-3 years when I moved into the area..I've never had a problem with the food in fact it is one of the most delicious food I've tasted. 2 days ago I went and my rice was in clumps and hard you could tell it was old which I threw 3/4 of it away and only ate what was edible but the worst part of it is I found not 1 but 2 hairs embedded in my food..it grossed me out to the point where I was gagging and I had to throw out my food. I was really disappointed and now I'm a little scared to eat there again

I'm hesitant to give five stars - not that they don't deserve it; I'd give ten if possible, but because they can only seat so many people and if you try it, you're sure to become a regular. When you order, the server will bring a bowl of Frybread chips and three bottles of salsa, telling you the red bottle is mild, the green medium and the yellow hot. The red has a nice flavor and a bit more heat than I expected; the green is awesome, a little goes a long way. I plan on trying the yellow next time, but I'm hooked on the green! The biggest problem you're going to have here is deciding what to get as there are quite a few choices, but don't worry, whatever you decide on will be good. The food is freshly made and very good - best restaurant Mexican food I've had in a very long time, but is far outshone by the service. I can't say enough about the how good - and friendly - the service is. One word of warning - if, like me, you habitually don't carry cash, bring a few dollars - there's no place on the receipt to add a tip, and you'll want to. There is drive-thru service as well, and two covered picnic tables outside. Highly recommend.

Oh my!!! The food was excellent! Fresh and purely delicious. Totally recommend getting the sopapilla with the red and green Chile. You won't regret it. The service was fantastic and the staff were so nice. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Warning...the portions are huge.

All I can say is wow. Visiting my brother and we decided to check this place out while we were here. The staff was very friendly and our food was ready in no time. And the food (frankly, we didn't know what kind of fry bread tacos to order, we more/less told the cashier to get us whatever she'd order for herself) was absolutely incredible. I cannot stress how good this place is, I joked with my brother that the next time I fly out to Phoenix from Chicago it'll primarily be to eat here, and visit him as an aside. Seriously, you will not be disappointed.

This place doesn't look like much, looks small, but man is it packing a punch. It's delicious food. Good luck deciding what you're going to eat! Sitting is somewhat limited, however there food is well worth any wait, which I've never experienced before.

One down side is that it’s kind of a small space, so it’s kind of cramp inside. Luckily, they have patio seating! Definitely check them out!

Great little place! I wasn't planning on eating dinner. But I happened to drive by this place and decided to stop in. they have the a lot of different items with fried bread which is a Navajo type bread. what I had was like a taco on top of this fried bread with half of it with a beef and a tomatillo green sauce and the other side and a red sauce with beef with some lettuce cheese tomatoes on top. It was very good and reminded me a lot of Navajo taco with a Mexican twist.

The place itself is small and hard to see from the street but the atmosphere is incredible and I’d love to come back again sometime soon. Definitely worth the visit if you’re just visiting or you’re a local.

Very polite and attentive staff. Our food came out hot and quick. We were also served chips to share, and given three kinds of sauces. The fry bread itself was a mixture of fluffy and crisp. Very delicious. The carne asada was a little bland, but the sauces made up for that. Some important things to note: there is a small fee for drink refills (a large is ALOT of soda though) and the lobby closes a little before the drive thru. I would definitely try this place again. Music was nice and interior was clean.

I was having a fry bread craving so I went to Maria's today. I've been going for some time. It never disappoints. It's tucked away on the south side of Thomas, and on the west corner of the plaza. There's outside seating and plenty of seating inside. I ordered the Open face red chili fry bread. The meat has a good consistency and flavor. Just the right amount of beans and toppings. Plenty of cheese. The star of the show is, of course, the fry bread. Piping hot, lightly crisped, slightly chewy, yum! It was ready in minutes. The service is always friendly. America thrives on small businesses that put the customer 1st and this is one of them. NOTE: Try a little of each of the sauces available to make sure they aren't too spicy for you. Next time I think I'll try the Chimi. I'm already looking forward to it!

Always amazing. Been coming for a couple years, and I always get great food and friendly service. Food comes out quickly, but not what-day-did-you-cook-this fast. The food is seasoned properly- I feel like I shouldn't have to specify that, but here we are- and you get house made chips & salsa with your order. The salsas are flavorful and distinct from each other, something I really appreciate. I can't describe how disappointed it makes me to get colored water in squirt bottles, coupled with unsalted chips from some other places. Full disclosure, I haven't gotten anything but the fry bread plates here. I always intend to try something different, but then I see the fry bread and my lizard brain tells me I have to have it. This place is a Phoenix establishment, and you owe it to yourself to stop in and try it out. They even have a drive-thru.

Wife and I usually order Menudo from Los Picos Parilla when we lived in Tempe but now we reside in Paradise Valley near the mall. We decided after some review reading and searching to try Maria's Frybread & Mexican Food. We called in order chancing it will be at least edible. To our surprise, the Menudo was definitely tasty. We ordered 2 orders of red and 2 orders of white. Eat one and save one for later. The food Menudo was excellent. The only problem I noticed...more Hominy than Tripe. Los Picos Parilla always had lots of tripe to hominy. I'll eat here again but will make sure I ask to ensure a bit more tripe.

Where to begin? This place is PHENOMENAL!! I stumbled across it after googling lunch spots near me after working a new store for my company. The reviews raved about the fry bread. I've only ever had it sweet so I gave it a shot. Did not disappoint! It was so big I split it and saved some for hubby at home. He was a huge fan as well. We will def make the 45 mins drive again to come eat again. Super quick service and absolutely delish!!

Was expecting a bit more, the frybread was actually really good, but the burrito was underwhelming. Not worth it for the price. Down towards central Phoenix the prices are lower and the quality is just as good if not better. I'd go there for the frybread but besides that probably not. Service was great and fast which is why I gave it 4 stars as opposed to 3.

Great locally owned restaurant. It's not something I can get where I live. I visited in between lunch and dinner and it was not as busy. The decor is spartan but feels homey. I felt very welcome and appreciated by the staff, especially the gentleman taking my order. He was very helpful and happy to answer any questions. I ended up choosing the open frybread with half red and half green chile. The frybread was fried nicely and the chiles had a good heat, but not so much it was distracting from the dish. If I'm in the area again, I would definitely return.

My father is a menudo fanatic. He said it was the best he ever had! We also enjoyed the fry bread & the people were super nice. Only thing that I didn't care for is getting charged for a refill on iced tea & paying for a tablespoon of sour cream for my frybread. We would go back again!

First let me say, WOW! The food was so good. The gentleman that helped us today was very nice and helpful. We had an Indian taco, a Sopapillas with 1/2 and 1/2 red and green chicken chilli fried bread, a chicken chimichangas, and tacos with rice and beans. The lettice and tomatoes were fresh. The lemonade was sooooo tasty and refreshing! To top it off we had fried bread with honey, cinnamon, and powdered sugar. I felt so spoiled. Very delicious and so satisfying. We recommend to any locals and tourist. If you want authentic traditional native food visit Maria's fried bread & Mexican food. You'll be very happy you did.
