Fantasic barbecue where the focus is on the meat and spices rather than drowning it in sauce. The sauce is awesome too if you want to dunk your ribs in it but it is great without it. Family and budget friendly and even the pies are homemade. A new family favorite for us. Thank you!

Beef, and chicken brisket was good. Corn bread was dry. Ordered extra sauce for both sandwiches, but received only the standard amount. For the price, I expect my order to be correct. Overall the meal was decent, but they need to pay attention special request.

SOUL FOOD with A Taste of Honey (Herb Albert). For my meal I had Southern Fried Catfish (catfish make my nature rise; The Four Tops) with two side orders; Grandma Green Beans and BBQ beans. I've been looking for a place that sells fried catfish it has been unsuccessful until now. Ken's will be a regular stop for me. I noticed a couple of things on their menu that I must try; Sweet Potato Fries and Fried Mac and Cheese

I am no expert on the different types of barbeque, but whatever this is, it is my favourite type. The sauce is very Smoky with a ton of flavor and all of the sides are fantastic and hold their own. I have loved everything on the menu so far but I still have a few items left to order. I recommend the ribs or brisket with the sweet potato fries and the Mac and cheese. Even the cornbread is on a higher level and is always fresh, moist and warm.

I ordered the pulled pork dinner with the two sides of cole slaw and Ken's baked beans. It came with a slice of cornbread. The dinner was 12.99 plus tax which I thought was a bargain for the amount of food I got. I enjoyed my dinner very much. The pulled pork with their house made barbecue sauce was delicious. I also enjoyed the slaw and cornbread. The baked beans were flavorful but too sweet for me. It is just a matter of taste. I would definitely go back.

A pretty sincere take on classic BBQ. Got the sampler plate with my girlfriend and it was perfect for the two of us. The sauces have a very "homemade" feel and the meats are all served naked so you can dress them yourself. Very satisfied

My friend took me there for lunch the other day for lunch and I had the pulled pork sandwich n tater salad, let me tell you the sandwich was perfection. Tater salad was on point. I also tried a bite of the hot link and it also was Amazing. My wife and I have been to Brush fire and it wasn't as good as Kens. This is my first time in Ken's I had heard some pretty good things about it so I had to go try. I ended up with the beef brisket with two sides, mac and cheese and the barbecue beans. The brisket past the pool test but was a little lacking on bark and smoke. I wish I would have got to try some other cuts. AZ for the mac and cheese on a scale from 1 to 10 it was probably a 12 nice and stodgy not your creamy kind tasted multiple Cheese's in there was some sort of seasoning that was out of this world. The barbecue beans we're almost as good scale from 1 to 10 probably at 9 if you like them on the sweet side. I'll end up going back and trying a different kind of meat

Ok food. I tried them today and they were ok. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and pulled pork loaded fries. The sandwich was small and it didn’t include the coleslaw shown in the picture, it wasn’t really worth the $7. The fries were a good portion size and pretty tasty. I probably won’t go back, but it wasn’t terrible either.

Had the ribs, baked beans, potato salad, and green beans. This place is the real deal BBQ. Please do not come here expecting fast food. They actually cook here. It will be worth the wait. The family who owns it are courteous and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and quaint. If they had house made southern sweet tea, they would get that fifth star for sure.

Your family recipe is a Gem!! Ken delivered and set up everything I did not have to do anything except invite the guests. Good BBQ. The brisket had a good taste but the rub on the ribs was outstanding. You did not need any sauce because the rub was that good. The portion sizes were great. I ordered the ribs with 2 sides and feel I got a good filling meal at a great price. Staff was very good. They were quick in taking my order and getting it to me fast.

From the outside you can't really tell much about the place. But inside it's got a nice warehouse feel to it. Food was fas and absolutely yummy. I had the pork ribs and they were ok. Not bad but nothing to write home about. My wife had me try the sweet potato fries with nacho cheese and pulled pork. Holy cow. I had never had a taste sensation like that before. You have to try it. They also have a food truck that you may see out and about once and a while.

Ken's has a chill, comfortable ambience. The staff is friendly. And the food does not disappoint! Best catfish I've had in forever. I've also had the brisket, pork, green beans and mac 'n' cheese. All are really good and the green beans have real flavor vs. being an obligatory vegetable added to round out a meal. Have been here twice so far and will include Ken's in my restaurant rotation.

We have had the luck to have had some excellent BBQ when we lived in Kentucky. Since moving out here to AZ we have wanted to find a really good BBQ place. Sadly we have not found one until today. We had some business on 22nd street and looked for a place to eat lunch. We saw Ken's on the map and read some of the good reviews so we decided to try it. WOW! This is the real deal. WE had the pulled pork sandwich and the sloppy joe and the meat is tender and flavorful. Cooked to perfection. The sauce is devine, smoky with some sweet and fits the meat perfectly. Sweet potato fries are heavenly and real homemade potato salad. Nothing more to be said. This is real BBQ. Can't wait to try the other offerings and the amazing sounding desserts. We live a ways away but will be eating there when we go to Tucson. Don't miss it.

Was under the impression that this was Texas style bbq. Bought 1 lb of brisket and 1 lb of pulled pork. Both had the same color, flavor and texture but we're obviously different meats. Also not used to getting chopped brisket by the lb, it's usually sliced. 3 stars generous.

Be still my heart! The food here is amazing! The family recipes and love they use to cook their food says it all. Lord, this food is just so tasty and flavorful. We met the owner Ken, he is so nice and welcoming. We enjoyed the pulled pork and ribs.They are cook with so much care that as flavorful as they are, you actually won't need the BBQ sauce. Even though there are 3 of them to choose from. Let me also just say, the collard greens are perfect and the mac n cheese will put a smile on your face. We highly recommend Ken's Hardwood Barbeque!!

While the Ambience was nice. The food left something to be desired. We were under the impression this was a smokehouse bbq restaurant with smoked meats. Upon receiving our brisket that we ordered as a sandwich we found the meat was boiled. The barbecue sauce lacked luster and is more along the lines of watered down ketchup. We travel all over the state and visit MANY BBQ places. We suggest that pass on the Brisket and try the fride okra. The okra had a light seasoning and fride to perfection. Keep pushing Ken's one day you will be a Real Smoked BBQ house.

Tried this place out yesterday. Called in an order of ribs and smoked chicken. Was ready when we arrived, which is always nice. Staff was very helpful and polite. Went home and ate while watching the U of A game. The ribs were moist and perfect. The sauce they provided was perfect as well - not to sweet or vinegar tasting. The pulled smoke chicken was a real surprise. Moist with the right amount of flavor. Would definitely recommend and would like to try some of their other cuts of meat.

What a joke Friday September 21st 6:15 P M. Just left Kens bb slop. I live three minutes away from this so called bbq joint. Ordered a pound of hot links, they said it came with rolls. Got home to hot dog buns? Is that a roll? I did not think so, anyway the so called buns were refrigerator temp as was the bbq sauce and the hot link's. This is after waiting 10 minutes, I guess this is what you get at Ken's while the kid at the counter that is supposed to be helping is more interested in what is on his head phones. What a disappointment. You put your name on this? I would be ashamed, not only for my food but also my employees. Sad very sad I will never return to this so called bbq joint.

When the 'Big Red' fountain drink is the highlight of the meal there may be a problem. The brisket was dry and like rubber, and the fries came out of the freezer. If I pay $18 for brisket, or $10 for fries it has to be at least decent. I ate here 4 years ago and the food was a disappointment and it still is. I wouldn't recommend it.

I went there tonight around 6:30. I ordered loaded sweet potato fries. They were short staffed so the wait was a bit. However, i think it was the owner came out and apologized to me for the wait. Well let me tell ya'll IT WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!! great smoky flavor on the pulled chicken. The mac n cheese was awesome. I would totally recommend these guys to everyone. The meat was decent but not great. I ordered 1/2 pound of chicken seems more like a quarter pound. They don’t even serve cornbread on the side!!!!! I looked over the menu and didn’t see it on there. The staff was friendly but not very informative of there menu. They had very limited drinks and they don’t make there own ice teas. The restaurant is very small and has 2 small TVs, which is okay for me. Overall, it was kind of pricey and I left out here hungry..... I’m not coming back here again. I prefer Brushfire tho :)
