We used to love Houston’s and still do but very disappointed lately with food and drink changes. They replaced the best and biggest blue cheese olives with goat cheese. Goat cheese olives do not go with a martini. Then we wanted a wedge salad to find out it still has blue cheese crumbles but paired with thousand island dressing. Gross! These type of pairing changes makes us question their taste.

If you'd have talked to me last week I would have given this place 4 stars. But last visit the waiter recommended the French dip. I was hesitant to order it because a French dip is a French dip right? WRONG this thing was a beast made out of shaved ribeye... The same amazing steaks they serve. This was one of those life changing meals.

Upon entering to meet friends in town from Seattle at about 3pm, we were greeted with quite a cold shoulder. Maybe because I was in jeans or with my kids?! Who knows...Once I spoke to the hostess and mentioned there would be 4 or 5 of us, she balked and said she wouldn't seat me until everyone was there. (I completely understand as I worked in food service for a longtime). There ended up being 6 of us and she scoffed and said she couldn't seat more than that. (Weird) The server was ok but acted curt when I ordered only dessert, which was mediocre to say the least. The brownie was dry and hard. The rest of the group ordered a late lunch. Frankly, I won't go back because of the snotty treatment. There are plenty of other places that are warm and friendly.

Went in there with a family there was 3 toddlers and 2 infants. And the manager came to us and asked us to tell our infants to be quiet. How will you do that???? And they were not noisy at all. Horrible.... please in the future put age limit if you can't handle infants.

I have been a regular at Houston's and I always felt the food was consistently good; it was my favorite place to eat in Scottsdale, but it's been a while since I've eaten there because I've moved. I made a reservation and couldn't wait to go back. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the meal! My hamburger and fries were lukewarm when they arrived at the table so the waiter kindly gave me a freshly-cooked meal. The hamburger was good; no complaints there. But the fries had no flavor at all and became stale after they cooled down. Was it the fault of the chef? I don't know. I will try the Phoenix location next time to see if my meal is any better. If not, I won't be returning.

The ribs were overcooked; they couldn't make a Bloody Mary on a week day, only on weekends; they didn't have artichokes for their appetizer on their menu and the waiter bumped my head with a tray when she passed. It wasn't enjoyable as other visits have been.

We have been coming to Houston’s for 11 years on Thursday nights. Food is good and the service is excellent. What I don’t understand is the shrinking of the menu. Now a very restricted item choice. Selections are removed with no replacements. Very strange. Not sure how much longer we will be coming if the menu continues to dwindle. My suggestion. Add a few of the items that have been removed over the past couple of years back to your menu. All the best.

I've had my issues with the service, food quality and attitude of this location in the past. It's been at least a couple of years since I last visited. I'm pleased to report that my most recent visit was fine. I went twice in three days and had a takeout order sandwiched in between. I had different menu items each time, they were all excellent. Happy to report.

You couldn't order a dish you wouldn't like here! Visited it for lunch and the Famous French Dip was outstanding w the coleslaw! I added a side of dijon to spread on it and voila! Couscous was excellent and even the burgers are delicious.

Houston's, Houston's, Houston's! As Always simply Marvelous Darling! Haven't been to Houston since being on the East Coast (Georgetown,DC). So it was great to see an old favorite right here in Scottsdale. Service was great, our waitress was super cool. An appetizer didnt come during a specific time, she made sure it was removed from the bill. Never asked for it. But that's the kind of Amazing and Quality service you get when you visit this type of establishment. My daughter enjoyed it here for her 14th Bday. She said she wanted a great steak! So Houston's we go! Cant wait to come back!

This was the best food we ever had! Salads were spectacular! Rosemary foccacia...wow! Prime rib and french dip sandwich...awesome! Our waitress Mary was so great, so pleasant, right there with the water or drinks, looked you right in the eye, and gorgeous! Loved every minute of it!!! We ate at Mortons and paid 3 times the price and didn't even equal this meal!

We came at 4 PM on a Monday to celebrate a birthday. Service was very slow, food was average. I had the rib eye, it was ordered medium which was still very tough snd 1/3 of it was fat. My in laws are locals (in their 90's and have been coming for years)and love this place, wish my hubby and I had the same sentiments.

Typical over priced all show Scottsdale food. Ribs taste like they have been boiled, before a short time in a smoker. Mass made for the week, and re-heated in the oven. All sauce no meat flavor. Much better ribs to be had, especially for $30.

By far the whitest place I've ever been to. I have never seen someone unironically wearing a polo shirt with a sweater tied over so it looks like a pointless and flimsy cape (you know what I'm talking about, right?) until now. I think the reason it's so dark in there is so that you can't see all of the absurdly dressed ancient white people. Also, the ribs were not worth $30, not by a long shot. Also also, my party was unable to make reservations because we had more than four people.

Typical bar restaurant, crowded but it's the wife's fav, so you know, whatever she likes, keeping her happy. Had the burger, fell apart so had to knife and fork it about half way thru. Would say go here if you can't think of anywhere else

Great food if they let you eat it. Left my party of 4 to answer a phone call. Came back to find my plate taken away with half my lunch left. Sad they dont ask the person prior to removing their plate. Never filled up my water glass, stayed empty. They bring the bill early to gently push you out so they can turn the table. White Chocolate Grill doesn't play these games. UPDATE: submitted my phone number and a copy of this review via email per their request, and weeks later, no call. Their comment below is obviously for show.

I was here for a date and was looking forward to it as I had never been here before. After settling and looking at the menu I went for the half-chicken with couscous. The atmosphere was nice, not too noisy but energetic. My food was brought out and it smelled quite good. The one thing I wasn't aware of was the couscous was served cold so not a fan of that. The chicken was tender and quite good. It was a good meal and I might come back however overall it was good but not great.

My parents live in Scottsdale and go to Houstons 4 times a week or so. The staff are amazing, treat people like they are family and amazingly attentive. The food is fresh and delicious. They use local vendors and the consistency of their food is the best I have seen. HILLSTONE restaurants are amazing but this is the best.

Went for lunch. Long wait. I had fish sandwich and it was pretty good. My friend had their famous hickory burger. Menu describes burger saying it comes with hickory sauce. Well the burger came with a heavy amount of mayo with the hickory on the side. Mayo not listed on menu, or they would have told them to hold it. When the staff was asked they said we don't put everything on the menu. Acting like it was our fault for not asking for an ingredient list when ordering. If the burger is described as a burger with hickory sauce, you would not expect it have mayo.

This restaurant is one of my and my sweetie's favorites. Everything we have had there is outstanding except we were more impressed with the roasted artichokes at Bandera's. The smoked salmon appetizer is just incredible as is the salmon entree. The "fall off the bone" ribs are just that. The meat literally falls off the bone and it is tender, juicy and flavorful. We have gone there a number of times and will go there quite a few more.

We decided to visit Houston's for our 46th anniversary and indulge in the Fantastic ribs. Too are surprise, they did not have baked potatoes until 5:00. We paid our bar bill and left. What a bummer on our anniversary. Houston's was my favorite restaurant in Dallas for many years. Won't be visiting the Phoenix location again.

While on vacation, went to the AZ location. As a mother of very well behaved 14 month old son I would HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND. This location has ZERO accommodation for a baby/toddler. Our family made online reservations AND talked to them 3 times. NO mention they have ZERO HIGHCHAIRS. I'm not asking for an entirely kid friendly venue when we dine out and bring all food & entertainment accommodations with us. They only have two tables they use for families of 4 adults + 1 child. Was told 3 times to make the online reservation for 4 then first come first serve for 1 of 2 tables for kids. These tables also do not accommodate travel nylon/cloth w/ straps highchairs as the tables are too high. If you allow children in your restaurant, why not have even 1 highchair for the "kid" tables?? For out-of-town travelers, this was beyond frustrating. I mean for goodness sake, the Starbucks nearby has highchairs (which they kindly were willing to let us borrow if they were not closing). Was completely disrespected by management staff and extremely disappointed as we've eaten without event before in different cities. In the very least, communicate with your patrons when they call for reservations with children.

NO MENTION THEY HAVE NO HIGH CHAIRS. only two tables for 4 w kid, n=5. Was told 3 times to make a res for 4 and first come first served for 1 of 2 tables for kids. Was totally disrespected by this place where I have eaten before in different cities. Bring your own high chair or booster seat and WAIT! GRANDPARENTS BEWARE!!.

Wonderful food, great selection. A little uppity though for my tastes. I wasn't allowed to keep my hat on even though there were patrons at the bar wearing shorts and flip-flops and t-shirts. Luckily, a friend was buying or I would have went somewhere else. Even though the food was good, they are way over priced. You can get a better salad at Pei Wei for half the price and keep your hat on.

Houston's..... It's great which is why it is always busy. Be sure to make a reservation so you don't have to wait! The food is great. I love the filtered water. Soup of the day is always great. Fried chicken is amazing as are the ribs and virtually everything else.

They were making the best burgers and fries before all the trendy burger and fries restaurants flooded the Valley. That's why this place has tons of regulars including older (wealthy) folks because they've been coming here for decades. Expect to pay more but you won't be disappointed. Only downfall is there is virtually no waiting area.

On May 10,my son and I decided to take an early Mother’s Day brunch. Both of ordered the ribs which were ok. We had asked our server to bring us a straw so we could drink our sodas..no straw as we finished our first coke,,had to ask another server for it. Common sense would tell you that if a customer orders ribs , hot towels should be given without asking..had to ask another server for hot towels. Once our food came a tall blonde haired served slammed our food down on the table not making sure if it were ours.Our bill was just about $100 + we left a tip which I should have kept because our server was terrible. We usually go to Bandera’s but wanted to try Houston’s because I have never been there before and have no plans on returning. We will continue to go to Bandera’s where the food and staff are excellent!!
