This Restaurant belongs to the category of American restaurant.
My lady and I had a wonderful evening there. Food and service was great. The muscle were awesome and would recommend. The orange seared salmon was tender and falling apart.
Delicious food, excellent food and great atmosphere!
Always a great experience. Got engaged here, and celebrated our first anniversary. Excellent service.
So-so. Had drinks at the bar. Pricey. Arrived for our dinner reservation with mentioning we were celebrating our anniversary and was seated between 2 tables tightly close and located just off of the kitchen. It was so uncomfortable that we left before ordering anything. Didn't feel attention to detail was not considered when they sat us as other tables were open. Will attempt lunch there instead and sit outside.
Delicious food and wonderful ambiance. House of Tricks is a local gem in the midst of a fast growing downtown.
Very cool venue with ample outside seating and fairly limited inside seating. Hostesses are not very friendly but the rest of the staff make up for it. The service was friendly but the food at least on this trip was not impressive. The arepa was quite uncooked and with lamb barbacoa was noticeably one note and a tad watery, ribs were tasty but the accompanying pickles were just salty. Seeing that these were billed as Korean style ribs, I was expecting at least a slight kick, but that was missed. But tender overall. Not impressed, but can see the possibilities and on the list for a second trip.
Beautiful outdoor area,... tables are so close, hard to have private conversation. Food was good but overpriced. Had to ask for lemons and straws three times. They were out of the " special" maybe next time will be better.
Relaxed and cozy atmosphere. Great food choices. Moderately priced.
Very good restaurant - the ambiance was probably the best part. Most of the seating is outside, under the trees, in the patio area. The mussels and fries were good - but very small portion. The burger was very good - particularly the sauce on top. Location was nice, in that it was 2 blocks off of Mill St. Portions are not large. This was about my twentieth visit to House of Tricks. Wonderful. I had an amazing scallop dish and also an inspiring dessert. Service impeccable as always. You must go! Worth a trip to Tempe just for this restaurant!
Simply fabulous. Love the porch area and the food is divine!!
Honestly, not as good as other times I've been there. We were on a cramped, uneven patio, had to try multiple times to get the table to stop wobbling, the service was spotty and awkward. Took forever to try to get out initial drink and food order. The food was fine, but not as great as I remember. I'll still always recommend House of Tricks because I love most of it, especially the feel of the place. I just wish it wasn't such an underwhelming visit.
Really enjoyed the outdoor food and drinks.
A large group that included many folks in Arizona for spring training baseball. We were seated quickly and the outdoor patio was a treat as the evening was very comfortable. Nice size cocktails and the wine list was full of nice domestic wines as well as French and Italian wines by region. The appetizers and salads which include smoked salmon as well as a Ceaser salad were delicious. Most folks had the pork shank and seemed quite satisfied with the choice. The restaurant also provides a child’s menu that included Mac and Cheese - a kid favorite. Service was slow or the rating would have been five stars. All in all a very enjoyable Dining experience
Fun place to go with a group of people. Definitely recommend sitting outside as the weather and the scenery are beautiful. The menu has a nice selection of high end food and they have a great variety of craft brews and wines. I would definitely go again if near the area.
Excellent food, drinks, staff, atmosphere and location. Can't rate them high enough.
Quaint, great drink selection, pretty great flavor combination with the food and drinks. Great wait staff, and if it's nice out, one of the better places to eat on campus.
Very nice atmosphere! The food was great, it was delicious but not too heavy. The staff was exceptionally friendly and didn't miss a beat. I definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants a relaxing enjoyable meal with family or friends.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was laid back.
Extraordinary food and outstanding service. It was worth every penny and every calorie
One of my favorite restaurants and the inspiration for the setting of a special wedding for two of my characters in my novel, "The Girl in Hemingway's Studio".
Another fabulous dinner on the patio. I would highly recommend a lunch or dinner here.
Sat at the bar, service from clay and the group were amazing. Ordered off of the tasting menu and it was phenomenal. The swordfish was delightful, melt in your mouth with intense flavor. Did not disappoint
Great atmosphere. Awesome food and service. Especially love sitting outside when the weather is good, which is most of the year in Arizona.
Here for the first time had the salmon salad and the GF chocolate date cake. Excellent. Highly recommended
Absolutely love this place! Good Food, Good staff.
The food was excellent. The pork shank was good. But the mussels and chorizo in the harissa sauce was out of this world. The bread with it was excellent. Andrew was our server and took good. Are of us. His recommendations were spot on.
Nice, romantic restaurant! Good food, wine list, and ambiance! To bad it's in Tempe...have not been there in 15 years, and will not be back ever due to their parking gestapo third world parking meters and division! No free parking until after 10 pm? Didn't know Tempe was that broke di#$ !!
Nice atmosphere. Nice food . Needed a quiet place to hangout and talk which we got here by sitting inside. Customer service was ok, nothing to complain about. It was a busy Friday evening for them. Pricey i must say but the food is very worth it which I read from previous reviews. I want not disappointed at all. Not very sure about it being kid friendly, it's a very matured environment. I won't go with my little kids, but to hang out with friends, for sure. Will visit again if I have to. Maybe a wow customer service would have earned my five but overall satisfactory.
I ordered the achiote brined pork loin chop, and that's awesome.
Met family here because it was an in between location. Very happy with food, service and ambiance. Salmon preparation was perfect, salads were crisp, sandwiches yummy and I loved how my earl grey tea was served in an antique cup and saucer.
Oustanding food from Soup du jour to the Bison Meatloaf and Duck entrees. The Paradigm was a great value and the berry cobbler with ice cream topped it all off.
Ambiance is very nice. Food was a bit overpriced. Chairs were SUPER uncomfortable.
Favorite restaurant in the valley. Superbly prepared meals from the most interesting menu you'll find. Patio is a must, so make it spring or fall when you visit.
I worked as hard as i could and was promised a raise and never recieved it after being repeatedly lied to. I was forced to choose between working in a dangerous situation or quitting. I wouldn't trust them with my food.
The absolute BEST! Fabulous flat iron steak w/ the best smashed potatoes ever! Martini was perfect. Jen our waitress was the best on timing & replenishing. This restaurant made our day! We will go back. One of the most romantic patios; fountains, live fish, huge shade trees, just a perfect day & meal.
This place actually surprised me. When I looked up the menu before going I honestly didn't think I would like it. The food was excellent. You just have to be a bit brave. The chef is innovative and imaginative with his/her creations, using fresh ingredients from local sources. This, of course, means the menu is always changing. So if you try something and really like it, you might not be able to order it again. Enjoy it while you can. Definitely worth the trip and Bon Appetit!
We really liked our meal here and the service was great. Instead of an entree, I opted for a couple of smaller plates for my meal and I loved them. I highly recommend the lamb barbacoa arepa and the ahi tuna poke. Great portion sizes and delicious fresh flavors. My husband also loved his game hen entree.
Amazing atmosphere. Great wine and terrific service at the bar. Music was awesome if you like the 70s
Delicious! Smoked salmon appetizer was outstanding!! Duck breast was prepared to perfection, not greasy at all. Service is attentive. While the temperature was in the triple digets, we dined alfresco with the aid of a nice breeze and misters. It was like dining in a secret garden in the midst if the city. Delightful.
Great location. Outside dining a real plus!
Don't go here if you want a simple burger and fries. If you like fresh, unique dishes service with class and style then this is the place for you. I took my college sons and they loved the small restaurant feel. They said it reminded them …
Where should I begin? The atmosphere here is great especially when you sit in the outside seating. If you attend with your family and/or friends it can begin to feel like a family dinner at a relative's home. In addition, the service there was exceptional as well. From the receptionist to the multiple waiters who provides our drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic and refilling them when needed or before empty, to the ones whom brought us our dishes. All of them enhanced the experience of just being there and wanting to return just to have that kind of service. As for the food, which I had the tacos, were on a level of a 4-5 star rating but at a cheaper price for them. If any has a chance to go or be in the Phoenix area, go here!
Great food. Asked to sit by the water fountain, they said that section was closed even though there were people eating there. We sat inside, server did forget we were there but made up for it the rest of the meal. Cute ambiance.
Quaint old houses renovated into wonderful restaurant and coffee bar. Great place for business lunch/dinner or intimate dinner, or dining out al fresco! Food is creative, delicious and I can always count on varied menu.
There are quite a bit of poor reviews about wait times and service but this place is very popular. Prime time, 6:15pm Wednesday night on a whim and sure enough, a 45 minute wait. Plenty of indoor seating was available as was a table for two at the open seating bar area but we chose to wait. Once seated at our table, I tasted perfection with the SEARED PINK PEPPERCORN CRUSTED AHI TUNA (w/coconut sauce) and my wife wished she ordered it too. She had the GRILLED TANDOORI SPICED SALMON but the Salmon was a little over done and was lacking in the sauce or spice dept. The Artisan Cheese plate has A LOT of cheese but only 3 slices of bread... it definitely needed 1-3 more slices to match up with the amount of cheese. We shared the Caesar salad which was big enough for two and washed it all down with a nice glass of wine. I wish I could click 4.5 stars as HOT is better than a 4 but at the price point, a little lacking in the 5 star area. No restaurant is perfect and this place is definitely worth the wait for a garden patio table in AZ in November. Our waiter was admittedly new but provided great service and attention. Lastly, pricing here is absolutely not unreasonable... this is a fine dining establishment, not a chain restaurant. If you're concerned about paying for extra time at the parking meter, there are many cheaper and faster places around the corner on Mill Ave.
Great place for a romantic date! A bit crammed though. Need to put a little more space between tables.
Great outdoor place at historic Tempe homes turned restaurant.
Great menu and well executed. Weather permitting take advantage of the patio. Great atmosphere!
Everything's me I'm in Phoenix area, I make the it a point to visit house of tricks. Excellent.
Gorgeous setting, especially on the patio. Food was amazing. Cornish hens=delish! Jerk ahi tuna also good. Had a margarita that was decent. Not sour which was a huge plus...waiting on dessert now! Berry Cobbler for the win!! My boyfriend mostly ate it all not leaving me much haha. Perfect portion for two! We will be back!
Volcano Pork Shank was awesome. Old fashioned was just ok.
My son Wil Plaza and Wife Denise Rayas, came from CA and surprised me, took me to celebrate my birthday with my daughter Lourie, Pamela, Lauren and my husband Hymie Dahya (Pollo). I always plan to go but it was close or not the right time. Finally I experienced this amazing restaurant. The food, cocktail, Patio the ambiance was an amazingly unforgettable. Thank you to my son Will and Denise ♡♡♡
Great setting and a very interesting menu! Good spot.
Its a really nice atmospheric restaurant with a changing menu depending on season and availability. It's a beautiful place
Hard to find but so worth it! There were four of us and everyone said their lunch was delicious! Fun atmosphere. We were outside near a big fire pit. I’m guessing it would be great out there at night with the fire pit going.
One of my favorites!
Atmosphere, service (Andrew), and food, all fabulous!
Fantastic restaurant! The setting is intimate and quaint. But you'll hardly notice your surrounding once you taste that food! A very nice array of choices, made with local ingredients as available. The service is impeccable. I've been passing this place for years but had never tried. I dare to say it's the best dining experience in downtown Tempe . I noticed a French fusion on the menu. Any chance you'll put a tarte flambee on the menu? Nobody in the valley makes them.
The food was amazing (the muscles and pork shank are so good and our waitress was fantastic) and totally worth all the tidbits I'm going to share below: There are a couple things to know before you go... being that it is located in the heart of ASU in Tempe parking is an issue. There is a free small parking lot if you go around the back to the alley behind. We couldn't find it so we had to pay for parking from an outside vendor. (Not a big deal, but good to know). Also, the restuarant is popular for their patio seating so if you want to eat in the AC, make a reservation for the inside dining. The patio is beautiful and would be wonderful in the evening in the fall or spring or if you don't mind the heat.
Nice place, great food, nice outdoor space, pricey
This was our second visit today and I just want to say our server Chance was the absolute best! Thank you Chance for your time and attention!
I went here with a couple of buddies and really had a great time. It's tucked away right off the street and the foliage really gives it some character. The food was good, service was excellent, first time here and it won't be the last!
This has been one of the best restaurants in the valley for many years!
Great place. Lively location and easy access to a parking garage around the corner. Innovative menus for both food and drink, although they were out of the "purple" in the Purple Rain I tried to order. Slightly slower service the night I was there, but it was busy, so that could explain it. My dining companions were charmed by "Shrimp," the resident cat.
The food is always fabulous. Once you are seated at a table, the service is always first rate. The young people that greet customers and seat people need more training .
Lovely meal with my husband for our New Year's Eve wedding anniversary. It was chilly and rainy outside, but we were snug in the Red Room. Foie gras starter was just right to share. Hubby had prime rib and garlic mashed potatoes, while I enjoyed the spiced duck breast with roasted fingerling potatoes and pickled beets relish. He managed to polish off a rich chocolate date wedge and I forced myself to devour a salted caramel-apple bread pudding. Service was friendly, professional and efficient.
Ok place. A bit over priced for the average good quality.
Not up to par with other restaurants. But very nice atmosphere.
Great menu. Lamb shank was delicious, and want to try the Volcano Pork Shank next time. Wife had the Buffalo Meatloaf, and her sister had the salmon; both were very happy with their choice. The mussels appetizer was outstanding shared between the 3 of us and would be plenty for a light meal by itself. Definitely coming back even though it takes us over an hour to get there.
Food was amazing. Service was even better.
Great energy and absolutely delicious food. Had the swordfish entree and it was to die for. Great place and love the outside dining area, so beautiful. Great date night place.
Was taken here for a work luncheon by my boss. It's an upscale restaurant with a pricey menu, but the food is to DIE for, seriously. I haven't stopped thinking about the smoked salmon since I had it. This would be a beautiful place to take someone for a special occasion, and the service was great too!
Went here for our anniversary. Dinner was a little pricey, but you definitely get your money's worth. The ambiance is great outdoors, the staff are pleasant, and the food is actually really good, unlike some restaurants that only appear fancy. I included a picture of the bread pudding (with some extra gelato), which was the only thing I managed to get a picture of, but the rest of the food was great as well, and so was the cocktail I ordered. Thanks for helping make our anniversary even more special!
Great food, great service, love the atmosphere. The outside seating is beautiful.
My choice for the best restaurant in Tempe. The food and service are impeccable.
Great food and service in an intimate, historical location.
Been going there since they opened their doors in 1987. Love the atmosphere. The food and wine are good, too. Love sitting outside this time of year. The weather is wonderful.
The volcano pork shank was out of this world. Intimate setting on the patio outdoors of the weather permits. Bring a light jacket.
Our waitress, Sarah, was awful. After searching online for a great place to take my parents for their anniversary, I chose House of Tricks based on great reviews from different sites. I called days in advance to make reservations and mentioned multiple times we were celebrating their anniversary. At first I thought perhaps she was new as she was slow and stared off into space as she tried to remember what the specials were for the day and finally gave up to look at her notes. Then when we said we wanted to share appetizers (the four of us) and asked about the scallops--she brought 2, I would think she would tell us the $20 scallops only came with 2 when she saw 4 people in front of her, luckily we got the mussels too. We asked for bread and she said she'd come right back, 10 minutes later we asked again then our entrees came before we even finished the appetizers (we were waiting for the bread to eat the saucey mussels)or got our bread. The next time we saw her was when she dropped off the check (our beverages sitting empty) and did nothing for their anniversary. So disappointing! This placed was overpriced for the poor service we received and we enjoy dining out at higher end restaurants several times a month but will NOT return here or recommend it to others. In all fairness the other staff was nice and I did hear the other server for the table near us advise her 4 top against the scallops b/c it only came with 2 pieces and the lamb was a better option to share. It wasnt until I heard her that I decided to write a review about Sarah's bad service--obviously the rest of the staff knew how to do their jobs well.
Perfect...as always!
I was recommended this restaurant by a friend and decided to check it out for my anniversary dinner. Wow! Couldn't have been a better choice. The food was to die for, from the starter to dessert. Everything on the menu sounded amazing and the cocktails we're just as exceptional! If you're in the East valley of Arizona, don't pass up on this little gem tucked away behind the ASU Campus!
What a great place! They even have several friendly neighborhood cats that might come visit you if you are dining outside. Unlikely, but possible. It's a homey feel, the service was great, and it's also a romantic place to take a date. They …
The Spiced Duck Breast was perfect! Its the end of summer so I was concerned about eating outside in the heat but the sun went down and they kept us cool with well placed misters. I will definitley eat here again!
Got married here. Surprise wedding. It was amazing!!!! Been back every year for our anniversary. Four so far hoping to make it 64.
The House of Tricks is an amazing restaurant that is a Tempe landmark. I've been frequenting this restaurant for nearly 18 years and I've never been disappointed.
Great patio with shade trees. Nice menu with good variety. Good customer service. All good was tasty. There is a small customer parking lot in the back off an alley.
Great environment, great food, and great wait staff! For appetizers you can’t go wrong with the scallops or the clams.. both are incredible. Before the main I took a detour over to a creamy lemon artichoke and goat cheese soup which was surprisingly delicious. That said, the pork shank was the most extraordinary, definitely one of the better dishes I’ve had in awhile. Round it out with the bread pudding and you’ll be drinking up that caramel sauce asking for seconds.
Great place we visit for special occasions. Always good vegetarian options.
I have lived near Phoenix for 17 years. I had never visited nor enjoyed The House of Tricks. What a marvelous restaurant! Food, staff, everything you want in a great restaurant was at your fingertips. I cannot say enough about that wonderful out-of-the-way restaurant! Mary Lu Shaner
The food was good! We had friendly service! Almost everyone in our party had something different and all of the dishes were good! The BLT came on a corn bread bun and looked quite tasty! I had the quiche and it was very good! The portions were generous and satisfying. I would recommend this place!
Solid lunch selection with good variety. Loved the iced tea with fresh raspberry (would love to see other places do that kindof thing). Food was good and server was friendly.
Fifteen years ago, we had had a wonderful meal at House of Tricks . We went back this August and, to our great disappointment, had a terrible meal. Foie Gras ($19) was tasteless and the duck ($29) was, likewise, tasteless. The bison meatloaf ($28) was mushy. We make a much more interesting meatloaf at home. The Caesar Salad that one gets at the Olive Garden was far better than what we were served - at $9 per salad. The caramel apple desert ($12) was doughy and not at all sweet. The lemon pound cake ($10) could fit inside a 1/2 cup measuring cup. The berry cobbler ($9) had an unbaked crust. The berries appeared to be like a boiled down puree and very tart. It did come with a small scoop of ice cream. When we asked for a second small scoop of ice cream to balance out the remaining puree, we were charged an and extra $2. For $275 for a party of four, we were thoroughly unimpressed. On our way out, we had to apologize to our guests. One star is generous.
Great food and amazing selections of tea and cozy atmosphere. I took my daughter here for high tea and the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. I can't wait to come back.
This is by far the worst dining experience I have during my stay in Tempe! My party and I were seated to the very back of restaurant where the lighting was very bad! I ordered the tenderloin and there were supposed to be potatoes and Brussel sprouts! The potato tastes as if it days old and got it from the trash, there was on brussel sprout leaf throughout the meal! Every time I even think of the food I get sick to my stomach I am still having nightmares about this dinner! Gordon Ramsey should pay them s visit soon
This is in the heart of college town, but feels like you are in an isolated place away from it all. We came here with family for a wine tasting / dinner and it was a great experience. Met some great people and the wine buyer spent some time explaining the events and how things work. I will be back.
Great atmosphere and food. Pricey but worth it
One of the best restaurants around
The atmosphere is enough to dine here. But the food and drink is, if not more than, enough to dine here. From the attentive buster to the perfectly cooked pork volcano shank, they go above and beyond.
Great food. Servers very attentive. Great experience
I was there for a business dinner and it just could not have been better. Great service, great bar, excellent menu, and the food was (over used - but applicable) Awesome!
Great food great atmosphere. The outdoor seating area was beautiful.
House of Tricks is amazing! It's a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. We ate outside. The food was amazing and the service superb. If you're in Tempe, this place is a must!
The food was amazing. I had the beef sirloin and it was cooked perfectly. My only complaint is that it took forever!

Came here for a business meeting and was happy with the choice. The entrees were delicious, and I was so glad to pair it with one of the great Draft beers they offer. Mine was from a local brewery and soon after, 3 friends were drinking it as well. After dinner, the whole party couldn't help but to be thankful for the choice. The tables outside are just so pleasant and relaxing, lovely. Also, first time I ever eat bison meat.
Food was great. Atmosphere was romantic/elegant. Food was fantastic. Wine was good. Cocktails were not really worth it. Dessert was good.

The ambience was awesome, outside seating under the trees with lights in the evening was romantic. The only disturbing thing was flies coming and sitting in my food so for the whole time i had to use one hand to keep them away. Except that it is a great place to go.
This is located in the heart of Tempe. You will likely pay for metered street parking. It is worth the cost. The restaurant staff makes you feel welcome. The menu is the right size; there are enough choices to make it challenging to decide, yet not so many to be overwhelming. I return often because of the consistent innovative, high-quality fare. Treat yourself to House of Tricks!
Great place, good food, great service
Tasty food. Good drinks. Great bread pudding. Attentive service. Cute indoor/outdoor location.
I haven't been here recently but when I worked in downtown Tempe, I ate lunch here weekly. Also a great place for dinner before a show at Gammage. A quaint little house turned into a restaurant that has been here for years and always busy. Food is very good. When the weather is nice, sitting outside is a pleasure. Iced tea with beautiful raspberries...a favorite drink for me. Quiche was savory. Fresh salads. Street parking is available.
Really great food here. Also fantastic when we took our 3 month old. The staff helped us get an appropriate table to accommodate us and was pleasant the whole time.
Omg! I can say this place is one of the best places I have eaten. The mussels were unbelievable! But seriously we had several appetizers and the bison meatloaf and it was all amazing
I have never had a bad meal here. Menu rotates with the season and the food is delicious, along with the wonderful shaded patio seating. I'm a regular customer and fan!
Great food, cool digs
Came here for my Anniversary, my husband and I sat outside it was beautiful and the music selection was perfect. We enjoyed our meal and the ambience was great
Service from the beginning was not the best, hostess greeted us very informal and unwelcoming. Then we asked for a bar top tables and was sat in the back almost behind the bar when there were better bar top seats available. Once we moved to a better table, we waited for our waiter to come just for another waiter to come tell us he was caught up with another table. After a wait, we eventually left. Ruined the last night of my girlfriends visit here, the read like it was going to be great, but could not get pass the subpar service.
I absolutely loved this place. Nice little building and vibe with wonderful service. My lady and I split a bunch of appetizers and wine, and could not have had a better experience. We loved every single thing about this place, and we will go back next time we are in the area.
The food is delicious. Be prepared for small portions. They have a very nice outdoor space with misters. Because it's well over a hundred degrees outside, we chose to sit inside. Inside is also comfortable and cozy. Would be a great place …
Good food (with vegan options) and knowledgeable servers.
Great food, great outdoor seating
Street parking has a nice view of the the restaurant though it is metered. Waitstaff has an interesting uniform. Didn't dine, just parked adjacent.
Great food! The room was noisy as it was full and everyone kept raising they voices so they could be heard over the noise. Would have preferred to sit outside. Had the volcano pork shoulder and it was divine. The appetizer plates are big and could even be a dish of their own. Tried the beet tostada and it too was delicious.
Super busy, but the service at the bar was excellent, drinks were great, and the food was fresh and delicious. We'll definitely be coming back again.
Always a favorite. Excellent food and ambiance.
Great food, cool scene. Traffic isn't great in that area, but it's definitely worth a visit.
Trout was delicious! Their raspberry iced tea with fresh raspberries a yummy too. We will be back! Great atmosphere too.
Pretty good! We got the soup of the day (potato cheddar, kind of bland and thick), salad and tofu bowl. Everything tasted so fresh, and prices are decent. Wine specials were tasty & refreshing. The atmosphere is so comfortable and inviting. We were pleasantly surprised (the name is kind of silly!).
The patio is where you want to sit! I had the bison meatloaf and the limoncello based drink. It was my birthday so we got the salted caramel bread pudding and the mixed berry cobbler. Everyone loved their food!
For years, friends have raved about the food and ambience. I’m sorry it took me so long, everyone. YOU WERE RIGHT. Chevon(sp?) was a pro, the food was perfection and the atmosphere was romantic and relaxed. Can’t wait to come back! p.s. I had no idea I liked Grouper before tonight!
Whenever we see a show at ASU Gammage we always have dinner here before hand. You can always count on delicious food, wonderful staff and creative cocktails. Highly recommend this restaurant. When the weather permits the outdoor seating is the best!
Although prices are high, food is amazing and service is the best. Table cloth atmosphere and definitely a great romantic location for dates or getting together with friends.
There’s a reason this is one of the “must try” restaurants in Tempe. The menu is well-balanced, with someone to perfectly satiate anyone’s palate. Personally, I had the green curry tofu bowl and the flourless chocolate cake for dessert. In …
I absolutely Love this place! The chef is amazing and she really knows flavors so I recommend just trusting her judgment when it chives to sauces! Everything I have tried is amazing. I had the pork shank today and I was blown away by how tender it was and how well the unexpected flavors complimented each Other! The bread pudding stole the show though! All I can say is Wow!
The food is excellent, but I do not recommend this place if you are in a hurry. Staff can be pretty slow when taking and preparing your order. But if you have the time though, the place is worth trying. Food are reasonably priced and delicious. If only they can speed up, they would have been an excellent place overall.
I came during off-peak hours so my experience may not be the norm, but I had excellent service and my food was delivered fast. Bar tender was talkitive but not too chatty and let me enjoy my food uninterrupted. I enjoyed the music they we're playing and I felt really content after leaving. A full tummy and two drinks in I felt like I got a good feel for the place. Would recommend!
Perfect place for a night out with my husband. We love the low lit garden atmosphere, the menu is phenomenal. I had the steak, so juicy and grilled to perfection. The desserts though, are the best part. We've been several times in the evenings just for dessert and a cocktail. I recommend the sangria and any dessert!
Amazing and eclectic restaurant in the middle of ASU campus area. The menu changes but offers a nice variety of options. I had gnocchi with roasted root vegetables and an onion cream sauce. The flavors we're fabulous. I also had the spring salad which is much larger than a standard side salad. The charcuterie board offered local AZ goat cheese and meats with a spin such as green chili salami. So delicious!
A lovely outdoor dining area that created a unique dining experience feeling both open, yet intimate at the same time.
Ok. So, the chorizo muscles were out of this world amazing! Especially with the noble bread add on! I wish we would have stoppped there. The hen was so so, the Caesar salad was tasteless with soggy croutons, limp and flavorless, the oyster …
Great patio and food! Friendly service and good location. I Had the smoked salmon Caesar salad, which was fantastic. Don’t forget the anchovies!! There is free parking in the rear of the building.
This place is AMAZING!! Food is awesome, atmosphere is great and in the fall they have an outdoor patio. There were 5 of us and our choices were, sea bass, bison meat loaf and pork sirloin. (2 of us ordered the same thing) Everything was EXCELLENT. We couldn't make up our minds on desert so we ordered them all to share. Love the flavors in all our choices. Sarah was our waitress and she was a delight and service is awesome! You cant go wrong with this restaurant with visiting family or friends. I give this establishment a BIG 5 stars and will be back very soon!!
It is the right time of year to sit at the wonderful outdoor bar at House of Tricks and enjoy a glass or two of wine.
Fantastic lunch options with outdoor shaded seating, everything I've tried on the menu was great
Wonderful atmosphere and an incredible menu! The fish was perfect, the cocktails were fantastic, and the staff was attentive, responsive and fun. Will definitely take guests from out of town!
Great lunch spot. Good food, great service and reasonable prices.
The Ruben on their lunch menu is the best Ruben I’ve ever had! Completely recommend, and will be coming again.
Food needs improvements. Service was great. Ambiance was good.
I've been to House of Tricks multiple times for work lunches and now I recommend it to everyone in the area! Their service is timely, the food is delicious, and there's always something new to try on the menu. You really can't go wrong! The gorgeous patio and the character of the indoor space also make for a unique experience and environment.
Upscale dining .., a refreshing change from all the bar food places on mill
They serve foie gras :(
Amazing menu, favorite place to eat in the valley for a night out with my wife. Service is always friendly and tops. This is how any restaurant should aspire to be.
Happy to find vegan options!
Definitely worth visiting! They have a lovely patio outside, and the food is delicious too. I go whenever I get the chance.
Amazing meal wonderful atmosphere, and perfect service. Bison meatloaf was life altering
Rock solid. Been coming for 25 years. Always good.
This is one of my favorite spots in Tempe. It is a perfect date night spot but in my case, I went for a friends birthday with a pretty big group and we had a blast. We sat outside and it was beautiful! Food is excellent and the wine selection was very good. I will be back often!
