The sausage was very good, and their BBQ sauce were very flavorful. I tried the pulled pork and brisket sandwich thinking I would get more bang for my buck, but the just naked the flavors of the other instead of complimenting. So next time I will try the brisket solo. I will definitely be back.

Service personnel were in need of training. The food was OK but the meat didn't have a lot of flavor on its own. The sauces were a little thin. The beans were very tasty. Easily not the worst BBQ in Tucson but HSB has got a little way to go to catch up to Smoky Mo's.

We tried this place the other day due to high & great reviews. We were all very disappointed. For starters when we were served our food was room temperature & got cold pretty quickly. 1/4 brisket sandwich, coyote & tri-tip there was no flavor even after drowning it with 3 bbq sauce that were on the table, adding salt , pepper pickles & onions could not help any of these meats Macaroni n cheese texture looked pretty good but here again flavor was not there Potatoe salad forget it try fixing it with the mustards salt ,& pepper didn't help was still very bland Smoke bbq beans tasted like they opened a can of some generic brand was not good Disappointed to pay for this dinner & leave it all at the restaurant If there was a way to put a "negative 10" that is how I would rate the food there ☹

Very disappointing visit! It was the evening before Fathers Day and my husband asked specifically to go to this restaurant. We were told they moved to a bigger place so they had more room to cook since they always seemed to run out of food halfway through the day at their smaller place. Well a bigger restaurant didnt solve their problem! They have been open for over a month so they should have been able to figure out supplies by now. At 6 PM on a Saturday, we were told they had no tri tip left. My son asked for sausage, we were told they had no sausage left. He asked for the turkey and were told there was no turkey left. They didnt even have lemonade left. We all decided on the brisket. 15 minutes later the table next us were told they were now running low on ribs and brisket! They only have 5 meats on the menu! Ridiculous! The place wasnt even that busy for the dinner hour! Little Anthony's next door was busier! How do you expect to stay in business? I know we wont be coming back again for sure! If you are planning to go, dont get your heart set on a particular item on the menu! Chances are really good they wont have enough! Management needs to figure out how to keep up with their customers! I can understand running out of an item, but not 4 out of 5 items on a Saturday night! Very disappointing visit!

Just like the first time around, bbq proteins and sides were hands down the number one in the Old Pueblo. Brisket was moist and fatty delicious. Ribs were tender, salty, savory. Sausage had good meaty texture. Pulled pork was delicious, especially good on the included toast. Most importantly, the assortments of bbq sauce was much appreciated. Sides - Mac and cheese, ‘tater salad, bbq meat beans, fries, ‘slaw - also tasty. Small but enough. It was busy by the hostess(Sharon) was able to seat us right away. Service(Bobby) was excellent. Glad we waited even though the lunch crowd was in effect. On the repeat list permanently. -the IBM lunch club PS - the new location is a lot cooler and roomier. Kudos!!!

The smoked meats are good. Sandwiches do not come with a side dish. Side dishes on platters are too small, just 2oz, even with a 1lb platter that costs $21. Service needs improvement, it's slow and inefficient. NO deserts at all. How difficult would it be to have Vanilla ice cream and apple pie? The flatware was cheap and dirty. I killed and flushed a prerty large cockroach that was in the entry hall to the restrooms and alerted the hostess.

We went for a late lunch. Ribs were very tender and had a nice smoky flavor, but they could have been hotter. Four sauces to choose from. I like to combine the spicy and sweet. Sides were very good. We had potato salad, beans, and coleslaw. The potato salad had a hint of dill, which I like. The slaw dressing seemed to be sour cream based instead of mayo, though I could be wrong about that. But whatever it was, it was very good. Sounds like they will be moving to their new location soon. Also, they give a discount to police, fire, and military personnel.

Went to HSB BBQ on their opening night at the new location months ago. They were overwhelmed by the crowd. They needed time to get on their feet. Well....they're on their feet now. Went back today for the first time since opening day. Had sandwiches without sides. We had pulled pork, tri-tip, and lean brisket. All good. I'll go back again and it won't be a months-long wait before I do this time.

We tried this place back when it was a food truck several years ago and were not impressed. However, their food is amazing at the restaurant. We ate 4 of their meats - pulled pork, brisket, tri tip and sausage. The meats were all super tender and juicy. Slaw was fresh - cabbage has a nice crunch. Tater salad was perfect. Mac and cheese was bland but adding the mustard BBQ sauce perked it right up. Wish they had a legit vinegar based eastern Carolina sauce but their sauces are pretty good.

Growing up in Texas I've always been disappointed by Arizona barbeque. This place is the exception. They have wet and dry brisket and crosscut. I get the crosscut, and it is on point. They have several sauces and THEY COME ON THE SIDE. That means the focus is on the meat, and the sauce is just extra. But the meat is always great with or without sauce. I was thrilled to find this place, and I even like the beans and potato salad.

Nice sauces, good meats, friendly staff. The environment is casual and has an open setting. A one meat plate will satisfy most people and still have leftovers. Ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender with a nice smoky flavor. Sausage is a little spicy, but works with any sauce on the table.

Wow! What an absolutely amazing place! We placed 7 orders to go and all of the food was fantastic and came out in a timely manner. The brisket was so juicy and flavorful and the pulled pork was one of my favorites by far. Their large portion of fries can feed two or more people so keep that in mind when getting them. I got my brioche bun toasted and topped it with the pulled pork and spicy sauce and it was pure heaven. We will dine in next time so we can check out their margaritas

Best Texas style barbecue in Tucson. Super smoky juicy tender meat. We had brisket and ribs. Ask for fatty brisket which was not obviously fatty but extra juicy and tender. Ribs are juicy and fall off the bone. Four great sauses: sweet, spicy (a little), extra spicy (a lot), and mustard based. Sides are just average but that is not why you go for BBQ.

This place is NOT Gluten Free. My daughter & her mother have Celiac's & both of them reacted to eating the brisket. If you need Gluten Free options, go to BrushFire BBQ. I appreciate what example this establishment has brought forth. A food truck opening a full scale restaraunt in Tucson is what makes this place a World City of Food. The Mac & cheese is wonderful. The pulled bork is delicious. The brisket is succulent & juicy. My friend enjoys buying a whole rack of ribs when the cart is at the Fourth Avenue Street Fair. I enjoy the food, but my family can't eat here, even though I would.

It’s sad to drive from 10 miles away only to find on Saturday at 6:30pm that they only have brisket! We tried to calling 8 different times for a hour before we drove over and only got their voice mail hell and no one answered. I knew we should check before driving especially after reading their reviews! Sad when you only have 1 item to serve your customers.. the new location is nice but we left and went to eat Mexican.. which had their full menu! Will try again maybe?

The food was so good, I almost cried. Everything I had was a trip back to my childhood in Texas. The brisket was juicy and smokey, the ribs were super savory and juicy. But for me, that night, my favorite was the sausage, an andouille (my mouth is watering as I type) was top notch...everything was as good as I've ever had. We Southerners take our BBQ seriously...as long as I live in Tucson...this will be MY BBQ joint. PS...there are more sausage varieties in the works :)

Good BBQ, but not great. Not as good as I'd expect from a place that only does BBQ. I got a 3/4 lb plate with a 1/4 lb of brisket, sausage, and pulled pork each. The brisket was a sizable amount. About 7 inches long and 4 inches across. No doubt it was 1/4 lb. Unfortunately it also had a vein of fat at least an inch wide down the entirety of the slab. I only got 1 sausage link (think large hot dog). No way it was 1/4 lb. The pork was very good. I also got 1 rib to try it (I judge BBQ places by pulled pork and ribs). It was very tasty. It was also $2.50. Maybe I'm crazy, but that seems really high for a rib. They had a full rack for $25, which I know is high for everywhere else around. In a pinch, Holy Smokin' Butts will do, but if I have a choice, next time I'll head to Brushfire BBQ, which is only a mile farther down Kolb.

Excellent meats served WITHOUT being smothered in sauce. You actually get to taste the meat, which is awesome. The potato salad, coleslaw and fries were very good. There is a variety of sauces at the table, all of which complement the smoky meats in various ways. The service is outstanding and the prices are VERY reasonable. They were out of ribs and tri-tip and that is the only only reason I gave them 4, instead of 5 stars. In their defense, however, we did walk in 40 minutes before closing. I will definitely return to sample the other meats and side options.

Some of the very best BBQ meat in Tucson. If you know of any better, let us all know. Consistently excellent. They were sold out of some of their meats when we got there at 1:45 pm. Service was quick. Both of us had the beef brisket. Sauces at the table include a mustard, a sweet, a spicy and extra spicy (with an abundance of cayenne). Coleslaw was fair, needed something, sweetness or vinegar or spice. Baked beans were a delicious surprise. Originally a food truck. Opening a much bigger restaurant at Kolb/Broadway soon. Highly recommend!

Found this lil gem at 22nd and Wilmot in an old hole in the wall Lucky Wishbone and requested this place to try for my Birthday supper last year. We have watched them as loyal eaters grow into their huge new location behind the GasLight Theater. Needless to say, was my Birthday supper choice again this year. The first experience at the new building, which was just a few days after they opened, was disappointing. This second visit, a few weeks later, and everything is again right with the bbq world! Ribs, brisket, pulled pork and sausage are excellent. The sausage seems different than it used to be; not sure if that's an actual change or just misremembered. All of the proteins have such great smokey flavor. The biggest "problem" here is knowing that nothing you order needs the addition of bbq sauce, but that you want to use sauce because they're also so good. As a happy aside, they now serve alcohol, too. Beer, margaritas; good pairings with your giant tray of barbecue.

Not a big fan of Holy Smokin Butts BBQ. On a non-busy night we were carted around the restaurant to a table that wasn't ready, after waiting 10 minutes. Several other empty tables, but we weren't allowed to sit in those. After being taken back to the front, we waited another 5 minutes before a clean table to open up so we could be seated. So, I got the sampler plate that included 1/4 lb of brisket, 1/4 lb of tri tip and a double order of ribs (4). Even though the brisket looked seasoned it virtually had no taste was was dry. The brisket did not have any smoke flavor to it, it just tasted like meat. The ribs were dry rubbed with a heavy hand of pepper. Very little smoke flavor since there was so much peppered dry rub. The Tri-Tip was outstanding. Lightly seasoned and a great smokey flavor. My 2 sides for this were the BBQ beans and potato salad. The beans which looked like black and pinto beans had no BBQ flavor and just tasted like beans. The potato salad was rather plain. My daughter had the Pulled Pork Sandwich. She noted that it just tasted like pork, with no other flavor. We went through there sauces to try and find one that we would like, my daughter like the spicy, and this helped her enjoy her pulled pork. I found all the sauces to have too much vinegar. I am not a big vinegar based BBQ kind of guy so my experience here what not what I hoped it would be. If you like vinegar based BBQ then this might be the place for you. Also, if you like your BBQ to be flavorless and like to add sauce to get your flavor this might be the place for you. For me it is a no go. Overall, since the place is fairly new, the place was clean including the restrooms. Service was a bit slow and inattentive. Food is served on cafeteria style trays, which had me wondering if I was in a cafeteria or a restaurant.

If you love BBQ, this is a must visit place. BBQ is some of the best I've had in a while. Can understand that their stuff runs out by mid to late day. Their BBQ sauce is on point too and goes great with everything. Staff is extremely friendly and service is quick and delightful.

This place was suggested by a member of my Men's group (@pantano.church) for us to try. I was a little skeptical, having lived in the South, about BBQ in Tucson but boy was I wrong! I had a little bit of everything (except Tri-tip since they were out by the time we got there) and it was all Outstanding!! Great atmosphere and superb Staff. We're definitely going back next month and I'll be back before that for more (& Tri-tip).

We've been eating from Holy Smokin Butts since they were serving in the truck. Tonight was the first time we decided to eat at their new restaurant. We were hesitant at first but figured we'd give it a try. Boy were we glad we did!! The restaurant was absolutely beautiful and clean. Our server, Dustin was one of the friendliest, funniest, out going waiters we've had in a long time!! Food was to die for! I had the brisket and my hubby had the tri-tip. We shared our plates and it was all delicious!! The amount of food we got for the price was insane!! We will be back!!

This was the first time we've been here at this location, we had gone to the old location when they were still there. The service and food is good. We love the brisket and pulled pork, sauces a good as well... But I feel I can only give 4 stars right now, because why on earth are there absolutely no changing tables, or a place other than the floor, for people with tiny tots in either bathroom? It wont stop us from coming back, but if our child needs a diaper change, it kind of sucks to have to go do it out in the car like we did today.

Fantastic restaurant! My family and I really enjoyed it. We ordered the "Family Feast" and a few other items, and everything tasted delicious. If I made one suggestion, it would be to add a vegetable to the menu - green beans, corn, etc...something typically served at a BBQ. The only vegetable type of item is cole slaw. Otherwise, we will visit this restaurant again in the future. And, they are military friendly, i.e. they offer military discounts. But, even if they didn't, it would be worth the evening visit! Definitely recommended!

Not very impressed. Don't think I will return. Got there at 6 and they were out of ribs, Turkey and tri tip. And even Lemons for your tea. So I ordered the brisket with Mac and cheese and French fries for the sides. The brisket was very fatty, The Mac and cheese taste like it come out of A box, Good thing the portion was very small . Only eat 2 bites of it. The hubby ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Which had big fats of chunks throughout it.

I miss the old location. The new location has very slow service and the food is not nearly as good. I had gone to old location at least 5-6 times and it was always spot on. A customer at the new location was allowed to carry her dog (not a service dog) inside and hover right over the food warming area. Too bad, sometimes if it is not broke don't fix it. Don't think I will go back.

It was clean and fresh in the restaurant not greasy. It is a new location for them. Trying to pick your choice is made easy with the build your own. Picking your meats is easier and then can control a servings. I am told the pulled pork sandwich is huge. All of us that visited ordered pick and choose. Yum

Just had half a coyote sandwich and it was delicious. I could've eaten more but had had popcorn at the movies beforehand. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. We were greeted warmly and directed to the take out corner. From the hostess, cashier, and bartender, each person was friendly and helpful. Definitely going back!

Food is good. Although, I went in to pick up a to-go order and had a water bottle (a personal see-through flask, not a desani etc) since I just went to the gym and want to stay hydrated. This lady called me from across the room to tell me I cant have outside food or drinks with me, with a side of attitude. Ok I get it, you can argue that its in the name of safety regulations etc in case I choke on my own water and you dont want to be responsible, yet I dont get the urgency and attitude but ok, good job enforcing that rule! Are you also going to ban bottles that moms use to feed their babies?

Just opened their new restaurant a week ago, went for dinner. Waiter was friendly and informative. Food was fast coming out. I chose pulled pork with potato salad and baked beens. Meat was tender, smoky but not too smoky. Beans were slightly sweet with big chunks of ham. Potato salad had a dill creamy sauce, both were excellent. Tasted my friends brisket, melt in your mouth. They run out of some meats if don't get there for lunch. Love supporting local places. Will be back and recommend to friends.

Food was ok. I had the tri tip sandwich. Meat portion was ALOT. Didnt finish it . Potato salad way too salty. Service from waiter , was lousy. Ordered extra lemon for iced tea... he didnt bring it . Second time requesting , he did. No ice in iced tea, asked twice for a glass of ice . Finally got it . Wait time for meal was about 18 minutes . Meh.. I dont have to go back .

Yeah they moved to there new location and my meal barely had meat in it when i went to there original location they took care of you they switched up there menu and don't even tell you things are lil different i called and that's what they told me on the phone but i to ask yeah im not really happy i felt taken advantage of when i normal an always happy with my meal there. Yeah for what they gave it was a joke now i don't even want to go back there and I'm telling all my friends not to go there now.
