We stopped in on a recommendation for dinner and our friends were right, you felt right at home. Great atmosphere and good food. Our server was very nice however felt that they were a little pre occupied and it took a bit longer than normal for food and drinks. But overall a thumbs up.

Downtown Scottsdale at night is so whimsical. It’s like do you expect to see bramble bushes or the roadrunner cartoon speeding down the center of the streets. It’s so nice to come across an upscale restaurant with great service, a wonderful food and drink selection, and ambience was amazing! I loved it here. The dishes were fresh and everyone at the table enjoyed every plate. I tried the rainbow trout that was flown in fresh (during the season) from Oregon, I believe. Really incredible. I highly recommend making reservations, especially for larger tables. Try to sit near the windows to enjoy the sights and sounds of the desert town.

I travel to Phoenix four or five times a year, and, while I am still searching for more, this is the only restaurant in the area that I have been to multiple times and will go to again. It's nearly perfect. The menu is interesting and creative, and the food exceeds expectations of the menu. The bar is especially good. Their own cocktails, especially the barrel-aged ones are worth the trip alone. The bar is also knowledgeable in the classics. The wait staff is great and really balances knowledge and attentiveness without being overbearing. As a slight critique I would like to see more table etiquette training, but there are not big misses here. This is also a great place for business dinners though it can be a little loud.

I nice lively place for cocktails and dinner. We just had happy hour had some wonderful cocktails at an adorable price $6 and we also shared an interesting Charcuterie board. The service was fabulous but the place was very loud so lingering was not in the cards for us. 4 stars is only because of how loud it was!

The chopped salad here is a must! If you are from out of town, or a local you have to come here. The menu is small, and the staff make expert recommendations! The best way to experience their menu is to bring friends, order a lot and share. The dessert selection is magnificent as well.

CPH is our go-to spot for when we want an awesome meal at a nice, but not pretentious, spot. It's not that unique of a menu, but they nail everything they do and that's what I look for in most restaurants. Everything is a pretty safe bet across the board. But definitely get the chopped salad because that thing is delicious. And that says a lot because I hate salad. The service is also top notch. It seems like the staff enjoys working there. Or if that's not the case they definitely do a good job of faking it until they make it. Great restaurant and hangout, we look forward to visiting for many more nice occasions.

They put unique flavors together to create dishes that you dream about later. Pictured here is what they call Christmas in a cup with the biggest homemade gingersnap in the world. The filet had a bite of spice from a special sauce. And the duck came perfectly tender with a delicious reduction. They know their drinks, too. Great whiskey and bourbon list as well as wine and specialty cocktails you won’t find anywhere else. Not pictured is the chopped salad with lox-style salmon. It is truly the best salad I’ve ever eaten.

Through work I get to eat out a fair amount at nice restaurants.... this was by far one of the best meals we have had in Phoenix! Server was lively, engaging, and super knowledgable on the menu. After we picked the fondue, he selected the meatloaf for us. Not usually in our wheel house but it was amazing! Full of flavor and not too heavy. Fondue was delicious as well. Scallops were tender and perfectly seasoned! Have previously tried the popcorn app and short rid dinner - also wonderful!

Don’t get me wrong the food was good. However, i do feel slightly overpriced for the quality portion size and lack luster plating. I went for az restaurant week. I might go again to try out happy hour. Pictured mango swirl cheesecake, scallops, snapper, field green salad.

Went for happy hour on a Friday. Had the cheese fondue which came with crostini, slices of pear and smoked sausage. Delicious indeed. We also had the chicken wings which had a tangy dry rub. Perfectly cooked and satisfying. They have a decent selection of craft beer and some wines at happy hour prices. We had this scrumptious chocolate cake with raspberry cream drizzled with chocolate sauce. The cake was not a happy hour deal. But worth it! The bartenders were super busy but very attentive and engaging. I'll definitely be going back.

I visited during happy hour just thinking I would grab a couple drinks with a friend, but after taking a look at the menu ended up grabbing some small plates as well. Our server Joshua was absolutely awesome in all regards (recommendations, service, friendliness). The happy hour cocktail menu was expansive and offered drinks that would appear on their normal menu for a much greater price, we ordered the daily special drinks and were more than happy. For snacks / bites we ordered the fondu and roasted nuts and we're impressed with both. I highly recommend this restaurant especially for happy hour!

It's a favorite. I love that there's no television. The atmosphere is like an old Public House offering handcrafted cocktails and unique fare. I love that the waitstaff dresses appropriately and professionally yet the atmosphere remains relaxed and friendly. this was the original the Gladly is on Camelback and 24th and also is worth visiting.

Great spot for dinner in Old Town Scottsdale. Come before 6 for appetizer and drink specials. The Chopped salad and Meatloaf are favorites, but you can't go wrong here.

Had a very nice meal and overall experience at Citizen Public House. Dark-ish inside, with a great bar in the center of the room. It was quite busy when we were there with everything from couples to families, to large groups. Food was delicious, and our server was very good. Will definitely go back.

What can I say it was an amazing experience! Gary, our server made us feel like we were the only guests in a full restaurant on a busy Saturday night. We're from Seattle and have high expectations for seafood and the Scallops over corn grits which he highly recommend and it didn't disappoint.

In my opinion, cocktails are the order of the night here. They have a great selection of good drinks. The beer selection doesn't do it for me, and the wine list is interesting, but not engaging at all price points. There are some stunning options on the higher end (including a relatively reasonably priced offering from Sine Quo Non!!), but the sub-$80 range is pretty flat.

We went here for our anniversary and, holy cow, this was awesome! We made a reservation, and I'm glad we did. We arrived a bit early, but our table was ready. They even put a "Happy anniversary" card on the table, which I thought was sweet. The service was quick, friendly and our server seem very knowledgeable. I took her recommendation and tried something knew. I had the duck breast, which was the tastiest thing I've ever eaten, and my husband had the fillet mignon, which was also delicious. The cocktails were also very good. The world's end is my new favorite drink. We will definitely be back here for happy hour, and again for dinner some day.

Some friends and I went here last night and it was OUT OF CONTROL amazing. I travel the world for work (regularly fly about 200k miles a year) and literally go out of my way to try to find the best local restaurants. I can honestly say this was one of the 10 best restaurants I've ever eaten at. PERIOD. Our server, Gary, was absolutely fantastic. Easily one of the top 5 servers I've ever had. I would go out of my way to request him as a server if you come. He describes all the food in such a meticulous and passionate manner, you can tell he really wants you to experience the food you're about to enjoy. He described the flavors of each dish so well, you could almost taste them before they arrived. Whatever Gary recommends, I would suggest you try. I personally had the duck and it was more flavorful and better prepared than any duck I've ever eaten in Paris. Quality of the duck was top notch. Was cooked perfectly. Get the salad appetizer, it's phenomenal. Overall and outstanding experience. I will suggest this restaurant to all of my colleagues and insist they come here when they visit town. If you're looking for somewhere to go eat in Scottsdale (or the Phoenix area), go here. You WON'T be sorry!!!

I forgot to make reservations before coming on a Friday. But the hostess was super nice and assigned a table for us. The waitress lady was attentive and provided excellent service. We ordered bacon popcorns and flat bread for starters. They were ok. Nothing exciting. I ordered short ribs for entree. The meat was too lean for my taste. Not bad but average. Obviously I saved room for dessert. Bread pudding and lemon pie. Well, that’s the highlight of the evening. I enjoyed the desserts very much. The restaurant setting was nice but the noise level is extremely high. Make sure to raise an octave higher during conversation.

I just ate here for the first time with a business client. We were both blown away by the food and the service. We ordered the chopped salad and it was over the top. We you see it it looks so simple but it is not. I could have eaten two of them. In fact I recommended other business clients to go and all of them told me they were blown away. The dinners were fantastic and they have a very good selection of bourbon.

Great service and great food! They have a good cocktail/wine list and many great food items. Two of the highly recommended items were the meatloaf and the short ribs. I went with the short ribs which were cooked perfectly and came with a really great sauce. The side items that came on the plate were also really tasty.

What I had was only so so (Green Chile burger), and the recommended ale was unsatisfying. BUT the appetizers were tasty - especially the bacon jam, and I will say that the dishes that other people had in my party looked quite good. I would be willing to give it another try.

Came to Scottsdale on a quick getaway with my bae and Citizens has the most stars and best reviews. Once here, we realized that we should have probably looked at the menu earlier because there weren't a ton of vegetarian options- but we made do. Their chopped salad was delicious but came with smoked salmon. Their cauliflower dish was also good but it was the only veg entree. :/ My hubs liked his pork belly option but I'm reviewing so, I still give -1 since I didn't have a lot to chose from. Service was great and atmosphere was fancy. Still a good choice and would go back- but I would probably prepare myself or eat ahead of time.

Recently visited this restaurant during a business trip, following a recommendation from a family member. Hands down the best restaurant I've visited in the Phoenix area. They have a very nice private room on the 2nd floor where you can host a bar. No windows but is a very good space. Food is excellent and dining area has a intimate vibe during dinner. It's pricey but delicious and excellent service.

Scottsdale is full of fine restaurants; we’re doing our best to try them all, and so far our best dinner has been here, simply for the quality of the food. In the lively 5th Avenue shopping district, Looks unassuming enough on the outside, and is comfortable but unremarkable inside, but the staff is cordial and the food is first-rate. Menu is American comfort food, but the place doesn’t need glitz or the exotic to be memorable. It seemed unlikely when the waiter said their chopped salad was renowned, but that was no overstatement. The atmosphere isn’t remarkable, but the food definitely is!

We have vacationed in Scottsdale many times and we used to frequent a restaurant called Cowboy Ciao specifically for the Stetson Salad. So we were saddened to learn that the restaurant had closed. But sad no more - because this most amazing salad is being served at the Citizen Public House. The atmosphere of this place is great - although it is a little on the noisy side. Our waiter Josh was great. The drinks were delicious. Unfortunately we didn’t have room for dessert because the chocolate cake sounded sumptuous. This will be a must visit in our next trip.

The food and the service were amazing. Our waiter greeted us immediately and began showing us the menu and asking if we had any questions or wanted to know more about anything. With this being restaurant week they had a special menu of items and the choices were amazing. We had a choice of 3 salads, 6 entrees and one desert. My wife ordered the meatloaf, my son had their chicken breast and I had the scallops. Everything was on point and presented perfectly. The bread pudding was fabulous. Definitely will be back and definitely recommend this place!

Have always been fond of CPH as it is the sister restuarant to our old neighborhood jaunt, The Gladly. Cocktails are crafty and creative. Menu is upscale American with a twist. Starters are large and shareable. Service is always on point and we especially love sitting at the bar. Happy hour here is one of my favorites! Everyday (including weekends!) with great discounts on wine, beer and even their barrel aged cocktails are half price. Many snacks on special as well. Entrees are seasonal and there is often a special. Many of the starters are menu staples and worth checking out including the Chopped Salad and Bernie's Mac and cheese!

For food I would recommend the chopped salad and scallops, and even their meatloaf as I tasted that and it was still tasty. Everyone here was friendly and we got seated fast, I would probably say my favorite gastropub in Scottsdale.

Happy hour 7 days a week with half price draft (including Wren House Wrenovation), half price barrel cocktails, food, etc. The chopped salad is great. We order it every time. Plenty of great food options. Low key atmosphere with nice patio in a relatively quiet area of Old Town.
