This is one of Mesa's newest hidden gem. When I say hidden, you'll need a map to find it. You cant see the restaurant or any signs from the main road. It's probably a good half a mile or so inside the "neighborhood." The atmosphere is beautiful. The food was fresh, delicious, and decently priced. Portions are somewhat small, but still filling. The only real downfall was that the acoustics inside were off. You can hear the table across the room speak.

$13 for a salad with no meat. Seriously? It's a bowl of greens for God sake. It was like a honeymoon- "lettuce alone". You pay for atmosphere and attitude here, not food or drinks. Strictly appearance, not substance.

We went for dinner. Be sure to check that you are looking at the right menu before you go. Lunch and Dinner are separate menus. My wife had the Southwest Chop salad which I tasted and it was very good but she much preferred my dish which was the duck. Both of us agreed that it was perfectly done. My wife even liked the mushroom sauce on it and she does not like mushrooms. The duck is cooked rare, so be advised to steer clear if that scares you. The portions for dinner are on the smaller side so be prepared to order an appetizer if you are starving. We came with a large group with a lot of kids and they offered to make grill cheese or sausage in a blanket from the lunch menu for the kids. The staff was very nice and very accommodating.

Just found board and batten off McDowell west of Greenfield what a cool place excellent Bistro for food and great appetizers salads main courses desserts not the usual but sort of new and interesting. We plan to go back for lunch because the lunch menu is slightly different than the dinner menu and it has some interesting things on it too very nice early evening and enjoyed our time and our wonderful waiter Stacey.

The place is quaint and at the end of industrial area so it was easy to pass even with GPS. The outdoor seating is nice and not too large; inside is equally quaint. The menu was surprising as it offered salads, sandwiches and more. Our group had many of the menu items and enjoyed the variety. Seemed very fresh and the severs were attentive. Plan on another trip soon!

We just discovered Board and Batten in Mesa and that was our favorite of restaurants we recently tried. I was in love with the spaghetti squash and my fiancé loved the duck. The Italian wedding cake is a must.

Just what Mesa needed! Great little bistro, with delicious food and wonderful service. Went for lunch and I had the grilled cheese special and the soup of the day, husband had the French dip with house chips. We both enjoyed everything on our plate. We then shared the Italian wedding cake for dessert. Was also delicious! And our server Lauren was friendly and on top of it. Our iced tea never got below a half glass. Decor and atmosphere was also exceptional. We will definitely be back and hopefully for dinner next time!

Very cute place with a unique and varied menu. Friendly service, but a bit pricey. Oddly located between a neighborhood and behind businesses, but convenient to get to. I had the grilled cheese and sweet potato tots, which were both different from any other place I've had such items. The atmosphere is very modern but casual.

Excellent place to go for a night out. Everything on the menu is wonderful. Service is great. Love the outdoor seating. This is a great place to go for a date night or casual dinner with friends. Only tried dinner menu, but every dish is wonderful. Would recommend the duck as the best dish they do for dinner. They have a social hour where all appetizers are reduced prices.

I cannot say enough about this place. On Thursday they have a mystery wine special during Happy Hour. Loved it. The Happy Hour foods were amazing. The Slabbed Bacon appetizer, Briscuit tacos, and Deviled eggs were three we tried. The atmosphere is awesome as well. Great service, Great food, Great atmosphere. We will be back!!

Love the short ribs so far everything we've tried is delicious. The building is gorgeous wish we had more like it in Mesa. Hard to find because it's off the main roads but worth the visit. Fantastic spot for dining.

Great place and headed the right direction but needs to improve the dinner menu. Charcuterie board was excellent, as was the risotto. Fish was bland (like frozen fish sticks) but cooked correctly; fried chicken was dry, white sauce had no flavor and plate was more biscuits than chicken. I've had better fried chicken at a sports bar than a high-end restaurant like this. Servers were good but we watched the bartender sneak two beers while we were there and the manager sitting at an empty table with her laptop while employees worked. This place just needs some tweaks and it can really go places.

My wife and I came here for a date night. You would expect a full staff on Saturday night, and they weren't especially busy, but the service was extremely slow. It felt as though they were working with an inexperienced staff. The hostess didn't even greet us as we walked in before turning her back to go do something else. Another staff member had to redirect her back to seat us. Our server didn't stop by for quite a while, and the drinks took long enough to come out that the manager was concerned nobody had taken our order yet. Overall, I enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but nobody likes to feel forgotten or ignored on date night. There's always the chance that tonight was just a fluke. I wouldn't mind giving them another shot. With better service, I would happily give them 4 or 5 stars.

I came here on a dinner date with my husband. My experience was up and down. Our appetizer was great, we ordered the goat cheese and beets and that made me excited for our meal. It was sooo good. I already had high expectations from the reviews I read and after our appetizer I could hardly wait for our entrees. ... But our main dishes were a little of a disappointment. Here is why I'm giving 4 stars: My husband ordered the ribeye with broccollini and fingerling potatoes. The best thing on the plate was the broccollini. The ribeye was tough I've made better steak at home unfortunately. The fingerling potatoes were boiled and not much else done to them, not even salt either.I was expecting herbs or galric finished in butter but nothing...Was not horrible... Just blah Mine was the chicken cacciatore, which was pretty good. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the skin was crispy which was nice... But everything lacked seasoning. And again the same blah potatoes showed up in my dish. BUT... Thank goodness the dessert was on point. The beignets were light and fluffy and the sauce that came out with them was delicious. Overall I would go back again and try some other entrees. The firepits looked so inviting, I would come back with friends and enjoy some appetizers.

Fantastic place for brunch or dinner. The portion sizes are a great value you definitely get what you pay for if not more our food was prepared as ordered and was quickly out to the table. The food is delicious as well as the mimosas. This is definitely a place I highly recommend and plan on going back to in the future

Can’t believe it took us this long to try the Board and Batten out living as close as we do. Service was awesome and the food delicious. First off we started with the Brie with Bacon Jam and the Roasted Spaghetti Squash appetizers. Well the Brie with Bacon Jam speaks for itself. Drop a little on the small toast triangles and yum. The bigger surprise was the simple roasted spaghetti squash with a red pepper and chimi sauce on it. It was delicious. Something we will definitely be trying to replicate at home. For dinner my wife had the Braised Short Rib and I had the Duck. Both dinners were delicious, with the serving size slightly on the small side. This actually worked out well as we had room left for dessert even after having the before mentioned appetizers. The Pineapple Bread Pudding was delicious, as was the Salted Caramel Bar. Though the Caramel Bar was much sweeter than we are used to eating.

Afternoon Tea @ Board & Batten It's starting to heat up here in Phoenix and the surrounding suburbs. A girlfriend of mine and I decided mosey over to a quaint and quiet little slice of tree'd Paradise in the East Valley, Mesa. Board and Batten sits adjacent to a historic Manor used for weddings and other events. The Stonebridge Manor is closed unless a reservation to see it is made, but the restaurant, Board and Batten is open daily from 10:30 on for lunch and dinner. The fare is always fresh and the ambiance is light and lithe with a dash of garden romance and a modern swank. It's location is more secluded and less likely to be loud and distracting given there are no other surrounding restaurants or venues. We had the generously portioned fruit and cheese board with Jasmine blackberry tea. I'd recommend this restaurant anytime to anyone looking for a great place to recline in a crisp atmosphere that beckons friendly conversation and great food and beverages.
