This was a great stop. One of the cheeped places in the town of Talkeetna but the food was great. I recommend coming a little before noon so it is not so busy. The fries are amazing and the caribou burge was very impressive. The porch was a great place to enjoy the sun and relax.

We both had the caribou burger. The meat was moist, seasoned well and grilled to perfection. The crispy french fries were tasty, as well. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. My only disappointment was that they close early. It seemed odd to me for a restaurant with a bar, on a Friday night with plenty of tourists and locals roaming the town on foot.

Man vs. Food brought us here!! I got the junior seward and could only finish half. It was a MONSTER and they make you either salute or bow down to the burger. It was awesome!

West Rib in Talkeetna is a casual, fun, local spot with delicious everyday bar food. My server was very welcoming and helped us with recommendations, she was spot on,the "Panty Peeler" a beer that boasts a powerful 10.5% alcohol, is smooth, somewhat citrusy, easy to drink, perhaps a bit too easy to drink, thus establishing the very reason for it's name. She was quick to serve our drinks and take our orders for dinner, I really enjoyed that panty peeler, it paired exceptionally well with the halibut tacos, the halibut was grilled to juicy perfection and laying on a bed of sweet coleslaw wraped in a blanket of corn tortilla. Then she brought out the hot sauce, O.M.G! Now this taco in not only sweet and juicy, but pleasently hot, my tongue is so happy! If I ever have the oppurtunity to visit Alaska again, I will go back to The West Rib, it is worthy of more than one night!

Went for a road trip to Talkeetna 4/22 and around 4pm decided to have dinner here only because we thought Man vs Food (Adam Richmond) dined here... My family and I walked in. There was no one except a guy at the bar. The waitress looked at us then looked at the guy at the bar and rolled her eyes and kept looking at him as she grabbed menus. No hello or welcome. She told us to sit anywhere (since it was empty). So we sat at the empty dining area inside. The waitress then asked what to drink. We asked for water to start. My Dad was with us and asked what beer they had. She rudely snapped and said, " look at the list (on the menu)" then walked off. We all (party of 7), looked around and saw it was pretty filthy. The menus looked nasty and dirty. There was no smell of food there. Then a cook came out to look at us then went back. At this point we feel unwelcomed and quickly grab our stuff and WALKED OUT. Disgusting place, disgusting employee. We went and spent over $200.00 just down the street and even though we weren't craving pizza- Mountain High Pizza was the best choice. Clean and fresh good food. The owner of West Rib Pub needs to clean house there or do something. Quick!

If you like a small town feel up in the hills visit Talkeetna Alaska and get a glimpse of mount Denali plus taste some Alaskan dishes That's to die for. West rib pub & grill has some delicious food so I recommend you order a plate before you leave Talkeetna. West rib pub & grill I give them a five star.

Service was rude and extremely slow, my table watched the wait staff hang out in the corner while no one was getting taken care of. Never had our drinks checked on (only when our food order was taken could we say something) took over an hour and a half for our food to arrive. In that time 3 other tables that had the same amount or more people were done or almost done before we even got our food. The beer was skunked(not only our tables opinion) but they would not refund the drink even though hardly one drink was taken. Food was soggy and hardly had any flavor. Never going there again!

We had the worst service today. We had one person who didn’t get her meal, a pulled pork sandwich. Everyone else was done eating before she finally got her sandwich but no fries. ‘Fries were on their way”. Well....no fries ever came. We asked for the manager and no one came. We had to go to the bar to complain. No apology and no discount until we went to them. Still no apology but finally an hour later agreed to comp the meal. Customers do not appear to be a priority.

This place is ok. It’s definitely a tourist trap. When we were there (as a final stop for the road trip), there was a cruise ship just docked so the entire town is packed with people from the ship (the entire town is a tourist trap for sure). The wait is insanely long at every shop, we got sat fairly quickly because I don’t need a table, so we sat at the bar. However, we waited a long long time to get our food, about an hour, which is annoying because the waiter should’ve told us the wait. We ordered a Caribou burger and some fish taco. The burger was ok but the taco was awful. The chef rushed through the order so the fish was burned on both sides and it was tasteless and dry. It’s probably one of the worst taco I have ever had in my life. I do not recommend going to any of the shops in this town and/or choosing any cruise that only put people in tourist traps. The experience is just awful.

We came into the West Rib Pub & Grill, NINE OF US - for dinner. We all ordered our drinks, and two of the beers that were ordered did not taste good. One was flat, and the raspberry flavored one was over-poweringly raspberry. No big deal...we said we didn't like it and would like to send it back for two different drinks. The owner refused to take it back, refused to refund the two drinks, and asked us to leave because we were "arguing". He also threatened to call the police. We weren't raising our voices, just stating what a restaurant would typically do - replace the drinks with something else. Our bill would have been well over $200, but this owner instead kicked us out. Many people come to Talkeetna, Alaska for vacation. There are plenty of independent restaurants to choose from when visiting. THIS SHOULD NOT BE ONE OF THEM! I have never experienced bad customer service like this in my life. Appallingly.

We came here after Denali Mountain assent and ordered gamburgers and beer, but barman told as leter on that we hade drinked aleady by two beer insted of one. How would it possible that we didn't remember one or two rink we had drinken. And we really tried to call the police to soled the question. That was something. The barmen MUST BE FIRED.

Ate there on 05/20/17 around late lunch time. Ordered the caribou chilli. It was like warm and not good at all. I got super sick after eating it and threw it up within 30 minutes. Other foods there like the fries were too salty and gross. Avoid this place. I don't think they know how to maintain food and a clean place.

We ordered the king crab legs. The first order they brought us was cold so we sent it back. The second order came to the table frozen. They advertise on the menu that they don't serve frozen fish, but I saw an employee carry a box of frozen halibut through the dinning room. For the first time food and service was very very bad. Burger was burnt. Tacos had no flavor. We had to refill our own water. I had to ask 3 times to get sugar for my tea. We had to ask twice for napkins so we had them with dinner. It took 1 hour after ordering for the food to get to the table. The place was not very busy. I think a lot of the piss poor service was because they knew they would automatically be adding 18%tip to the bill for a party of 6. If I had the choice the tip would of been what they earned about 5%. We are all Alaskans and come here 2 or 3 times a year and this visit may change our picks for lunch.

The worst service ever! We had a party of 5 only 3 got their meals. We waited over an hour after the first of our group was served but they never brought the other two meals. The waiter ignored us and when we asked for the manager she never came. Finally we were told we would have to wait an hour for the missing food !!!! When we left the manager finally showed up and gave us two free drinks. The two hungry people of our party left and found food elsewhere at a fast and friendly place. We will never ever go there again!

The four stars take strong account of the context. There is no other store even remotely like it in Talkeetna. Famous for the "mayor" Stubbs the cat, who is rarely seen nowadays due to old age. You can get milk, chips, candy, Hagen daz ice cream, and the usual great variety you would find at a traditional general store, packed in a small space. It becomes very crowded if a tour bus comes by.

Delighted to give these guys five stars based on dinner last night. We decided to eat outside, and it was great. Wait staff was very attentive, took our order and delivered what we asked for. The burgers were GREAT-- they're obviously very picky about their beef selection, and the cheddar on my burger was really good. The fries were simply superb! Extremely good, and I couldn't finish them (but I sure managed to finish my hamburger, as did my wife hers). Would definitely eat there again.

Don't waste your time. Extremely slow service..walked in at 7 PM and it took awhile for our server to take our orders. An hour later and we still don't have our food. Servers seem to be flustered and unorganized. We asked for a pitcher of water and it didn't come. When my burger did finally come there was a hair in it.

Sunday16th July 2017 we ate here, hats off to the cook, meal was great, rest of the experience was below standard. Server was not nice, we felt like we were a bother to him, sodas were flat, he said working on it, half way through our meal, other guests complaining, yet they kept serving flat soda. Really? Asked hostess if they had can soda, she replied go to Nagley and you can buy soda there and bring it back, really? Server / hostess put a real damper on our visit there. Will not return.

Last week I ordered a burger and beer for the friday menu special and finally got fries crispy the way I like them but as I began to eat the burger I noticed that it was really pink, not sufficiently cooked so I asked for and got another one. This week, the same thing. I specifically asked the waitress for the cheeseburger to be well done and the fries crispy. Same thing, the burger was not cooked throughly and was pink in the middle. It seems that they sear both sides of the burger but the rest of it is not cooked ataall!!t Th are going to make some one seriously ill by undercooking the meat!!

Ordered the Denali burger and it lived up to the name. The burger was flavorful and huge! The burger was cooked at a medium - well, despite my ideal perfectly cooked burger being at medium I reiterate this was a good flavorful burger. Food was enough for 2 or 3 people. Atmosphere here is laid back and typical Alaskan. The beer battered fries were delish! I paired my meal with double shovel cider.
