You know that we don't usually bother to place evaluations when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of New American restaurant.
Fine dining, wonderful atmosphere, highly recommend
the ceasar salad class is great!
Phenomenal service, the very best food exquisitely prepared. We will be back again and again.
Amazing salad and perfectly cooked steak
Relaxing dinner, good food and service
Amazing food. Incredible service. Need I say more? - I highly recommend the crab-cakes; possibly the best thing I've ever eaten.
Great for and service
This place is Awesome. The Caesar Salad....scrumptious, the best I've had. Also, just loved their Duck Breast. Simply Delicious. Give it 4 stars!
This is what living is all about. Never have I been to a restaurant that had it all, from great food, a perfect selection of employees, atmosphere, and a killer selection of wines. My date and I were blown away by it all. Cooks picking fresh vegetables from the garden in the back, waiters treating us with respect even with our copious amounts of tattoos, and the perfectly seasoned food made this place our new favorite. We can not wait to come back.
To keep it short and simple: this restaurant is top-notch! The best wine selection and food in Alaska. This is the fanciest restaurant in Anchorage and is a must-go for special occasions.
Fantastic food, personal service, and quiet and quaint setting.
Food is incredible! It is a very small space.
Very expensive, but beautiful location. Ordered their Caesar salad which they were known for and could taste garlic for weeks. Otherwise good food
Always excellent! Best food and service in town!
Awesome caffe!

Fun and historic atmosphere. Best homemade ceasar salad. Love to go for special occasions.
Very disappointed in the customer service of this restaurant. My parents and their two friends where on vacation in alaska celebrating their retirement after 40 years of work, and this alaska trip was their first big vacation in forever. The kids decided to surprise them by calling Marx cafe and arranging champange and deserts to be paid for ahead of time. For a restaurant that bills itself as the "best in the state of alaska" and as having excellent customer service, this should be simple. Not so much. The first time i called, the guy on the phone was very rude. He cut me off multiple times and was generally unhelpful for what i wanted to do. The second time i called, about 3 hours later, i spoke with a very nice lady that wanted to help.... But she didnt know any of the prices so she couldnt charge my card and set anything up. She said she would call me back at a preset time. I waited an hour after when she said she would call me back. Nothing. So i called for the THIRD TIME. She answers and this time puts me on hold to get the prices. Finally i am able to pay for champagne cocktails and desert for the entire table.... So everything is good niw, right??? Sadly, no. My parents texted me the next day to say thanks for the cocktails.... But they never got the deserts i paid for. Unbelievable. So much wasted effort on my part. So much complete ineptitude on marx cafes part. They only get 2 stars bc my parents said the food was good. Otherwise it would be 1.
OMG, excellent dinner and service. Was greeted/seated by a very pleasant young lady and Mr. Van, himself! The appetizer of foie gras is literally 'melt in your mouth' buttery smooth, amazing. We enjoyed fresh baked bread with olive oil, entree of Salmon with an increditable red pepper sauce, entree of scallops, shrimp, housemade spinach noodles with roasted broccoli. All was prepared with perfection.
Marx Bros. Cafe is an excellent restaurant. It is spendy, so we only visit on special occasions, but it is worth it every time. The filet mignon is incredibly tender and the seafood is always well prepared. Highly recommend for a treat to your tastebuds.
Best service in Anchorage.
I had a wonderful time here. The menu was very original for Alaska
While the Marx Bros is admittedly very expensive, it is always worth it. The food is reliably outstanding, presentation is beautiful, and the wine list is ample. Go at sunset for an amazing view to go with the meal. It's a splurge, but I never regret it. We go for our anniversary every year, stuff ourselves with the best food we will ever eat paired with a bottle of wine, and then take a cab home.
Food was good, as expected, service was lousy. The servers need to get over them selves and get down to work. I've dined there several times a year since the 1980s but last night was a new low-the worst neglect from a server I can recall in this country. Also, they are not discrete, serving from the sidelines as they should, but love to be the center of attention. Forget this. I'll give it another year before returning.
Best restaurant in Anchorage for 40 years running
Great service, very friendly. Most all the food is absolutely delicious!
Year after year we come for our Christmas party and we always love it!
Fantastic food, Fantastic people
Believe the reviews from AAA. This restaurant has the best service and food. Make sure you get the salad, and you'll get to meet the owner. He brings a cart to your table and makes the salad, while he chats with you.
We absolutely LOVE this place! The food is delicious and they have an excellent choices of wines to match!

Great Food and service !
This place is incredible, the owner greeted us, the building is small and quaint. You have to try the halibut cheeks and caesar salad (the salad is prepared tableside with fresh ingredients!) Every dish has unique, perfectly matched flavors. I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could!
Good food and Romantic
Loved it!
Best Filet to date!
Fine dining with a relaxed atmosphere. However, downtown parking is an issue
The food was great! Did not care for the crab cakes but the salad and veal tenderloins were outstanding! BUT the service was terrible! We were on a double date and asked for her to split the bill and she got snotty with us When we asked for help she yelled out loud what we owed. My husband asked her to keep her voice down. It was very embarrassing! She figured out Bill wrong three times. When we told her she was unprofessional she never once apologized. We will not be back. Too bad because we loved the food. The owners need to rethink their servers.
If you have a chance to go here, you have to try the eggs benedicts...They have many different kinds and they all were great. The espresso bar has a to go option and its very reasonable and good. The place is small so plan on a wait when you get there, but its totally worth it
Best restaurant in Anchorage!
Solid Yukon Gold
Amazing salad, made with perfection, is a must try!
Great, intimate restaurant with an amazing wine list
Best food in Anchorage!
Beautiful food and atmosphere. We are looking forward to going back next time we are in Anchorage. By far my favorite meal on our Alaska vacation.
Out of all the years we've come, we have always had a spectacular time. The food is always top notch, and the service is always genuine.
This is a amazing place to have a romantic date

The food is fine. The atmosphere is cute and unique. I just can not warrant the price of the food. I have no issue with an expensive meal, however, I do not feel like the cost is worth the meal. When we left we did say that the meal was good, but do not have any interest in going back
Food was so delish I forgot to take pics. Simple menu with creative, local faves. Salmon, scallops halibut and filet were staples. Extensive wine list. Huge dessert menu with dessert wines. Good date place.
My inlaws were ecstatic with this meal. For four people, we shared 6 appetizers, 1 salad, 1 entree, and 2 desserts. It was a lot, but very satisfying. The consensus favorites were halibut cheeks and gnocchi. I also loved the lobster/halibut/salmon spread, and oysters. The only appetizer I would recommend skipping is the eggplant spread. The mango and raspberry sorbets brought about groans of pleasure. Service was very good.
I throw rocks at the restaurants in California now. Marx Brothers has spoiled me. You just cannot get the quality of steak or seafood in Any restaurant where I live. So an annual visit to Marx is required.
Amazing.
Jack can do no wrong with Marx brothers. Far and away the best resteraunt in Alaska.... Muse in the Anchorage Museum run by jack is well worth it too for a cheaper less formal lunch option.
Always a great experience, fantastic atmosphere, and fine dining! Service was outstanding!
Excellent menu. I love their Cesar salads
Great place
This is OUR place for special occasions. If not a special occasion, we ivent one. Their food is bar none. Same with service. Always a real treat. We have been going since the earlt 1990s.
