We offer you all the opinions of people like you who bought the products and services of The Bake Shop (Restaurant) around Alaska area.
At the moment this firm has a rating of 4.6 over 5 and that score was based on 380 reviews.
As you can read, it reaches an feddbacks average is virtually the highest, and it's based on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may say that the valuation is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to value when they are satisfied with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put reviews when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of European restaurant.
A great place for a hearty breakfast and or lunch. If you go for breakfast you NEED to get the sourdough pancakes!!!! Their sweet rolls are fantastic and are also a must. Buy a loaf of bread for the days adventure. Because it's that good.
Nice place, very friendly and great food!
Great bakery and breakfast... No mystery why they been around for almost a half century
Yes! Been going here for 34years.
Good goodies
Coffee is great here
Good bread. Late service
Great cup of clam chowder and a grilled cheese sandwich prepared on their homemade sourdough bread. Great place for lunch.
Was a tad difficult to find, hidden next to an art gallery up a hilly gravel parking area and nestled into a heavily planted area that adds so much charm to the place. Was very busy at 1pm but the line moved quickly and was so worth the wait. The soup and rolls were great and large portions. Grilled Ham and cheese gave a choice for cheese which was nice and came piled high with tons of ham (much better than anticipated). Would definitely eat here again!
Plenty of carbs available, sandwiches are too expensive.
Delicious! Eat here
Best BLTs ever. Cute and cozy restaurant with true Alaska dishes and quick bites too.
Expensive small coffee cafe. Stopped in 2x around 8am. Would have went with 3 stars but the cinnamon bun I purchased was dry and over cooked despite being fresh out of oven tray. Tourist crowd plows in door at 9am before their mt biking begins ...forming line, taking seat availability. For $25 u can buy a coffee mug for unlimited coffee....coffee was actually Good even though out of thermo pump canister like all of alaskan coffee..
Nice lunch specials. Love there soups.
Excellent local bakery. Bottomless coffee, huge cinnamon buns, great breakfasts! The artwork on the wall is spectacular too.
For breakfast The Bake Shop is a stop worth driving past Girdwood. I would even plan a detour. The waiters and waitresses are very kind, cheerful and helpful. You can see strait into the kitchen were nothing is hidden and only fresh products being used. Definitely the sweet roll is a must see and must eat. A nice selection of omelettes or scrambled eggs. Good espresso! The customers are as well tourists as locals. This is a place I will return to during my next trip to Alaska
Consistently good for all things sourdough and breakfast food. Limited menu but at a reasonable cost and nothing will disappoint. For lunch soup is bottomless and also amazing.
Awsome sweet rolls and sour dough bread
Overall a great place. Very good cheese sandwich after downhill skiing for a few hours. Breakfast is great aswell
Limited to sourdough bread. VERY busy and VERY slow service even for take out sandwiches. Other options in Gridwood looked much better to me, for example Jack Sprat and Spoonline.
Warm service. Good food
Really great sandwiches and soup freshly prepared!
Great food
Great place to stop for coffee and something sweet
Great restaurant in Alyeska resort
Super friendly service. Loved the goods.
Great bread and wonderful sandwiches.
Had the 2-2-2, very good!
Loved this place, was busy but was worth the wait.
Great place, just stop in and get some if the local sweets and get in the close by bodega a bottle...
Excellent food. Nice and hot, freshly made!
Wow food was so good. The soup was excellent corn chowder yum. Cinnomon bun had a different taste then others ive had but very good. I also had a grilled cheese on homemade sour dough it was so good. I wanted to take a loaf of bread home. But they didnt have any fresh loafs left. So sad.
Ate breakfast 3 mornings at the Bake Shop. Good coffee, great omelettes, potatoes and friendly local favorite.
My sister took me to The Bake Shop while I was visiting. There was a great selection of breakfast items, it was hard to make a decision! I ended up getting a ham omelette and it came with 2 slices of toast. Fast and friendly service... they brought our meals to us outside. My meal was Huge! I only could eat half of the omelette and 1 slice of toast with some berry jam. It was absolutely delicious though. I would have loved to have taken the rest with me, but we were traveling all day without a cooler to store it. It would be great if they offered a smaller portion. It was So beautiful there. The hanging flowers added a nice touch. I Love to sit outside, so thankful for the benches! When I visit Alaska again, I will make sure to go back!
I feel like I'm missing something about this place... I ordered a $9.00+ grilled ham and cheese sandwich thinking it would be something special (because it's $9.00), but it was literally just a ham and cheese sandwich. My husband ordered a pastrami and cheese (also just plain pastrami and cheese). No sides, fancy sauces or condiments. The sticky buns looked delicious, but after spending $20 on a couple basic sandwiches we didn't even want to bother.
Oh my goodness, go for the cinnamon rolls! Soooooo good. We came on a recommendation and are glad we did. We had breakfast here several days during our stay. The staff was friendly, the restaurant clean, and local artwork wad available for purchase decorated the walls. Outside was a riot of color with all the blooms.
Great little shop with a bunch of different flowers in their large garden. Great place to have breakfast or lunch with friends or family. Welcoming atmosphere with a large variety of food. Don't let the fact that it's out of the way or small fool you. The food is worth the trip and the decor will amaze anyone who enjoys flowers.
Coffee and Breakfast sandwich was great Fresh bread on breakfast sandwich perfectThey were busy but service was good
Great food! Great service! Busy place but they keep up :)
This place had good food. Not what I was expecting, but worth going. Fast service
Great food, freshly prepared.
Awesome place to go while skiing at Alyeska! The food can't be beat. I love having the Summer of 76 special. The sourdough pancakes are always delicous
This is a good local, feel at home place. With bottomless soups and amazing bread. You can definitely put on a few pounds here.

Delicious
Nice stop at Alyeska ski area in July. BUT... no hamburgers!!! They've got a vegan 'burger, but I'm a carnivore! :-{D
Definitely suffering from trying to hit quantity over quality. Malts weren't mixed entirely, food was alright. Service was great though and i love the dishes

The food was decent but way overpriced. I don’t know how this place passes the health department or building codes. It smells like a lake full of fish with no ventilation. The water pitchers and glasses were not clean. The tables are so close the waitress can’t even walk around the table she has to pass the food down. The building is at a slant so our drinks easily spilled and rolled off the other side of the table 3 times. They automatically add 18% tip for service I wouldn’t give 10%. I’m 50 yrs old and they wouldn’t serve me 1 beer because my ID was in the car. I was literally looking out the window at a shack like building next to us where they cook the food that had a fan dripping with grease off it blowing the smoke out of it straight at our window. I don’t usually write bad reviews but I would not recommend this place to anyone. I totally just waisted 140. On food. Your better off going to subway, at least it’s clean, friendly and a portion of the cost.
The bake shop is essential eating if you're soaked, tired, and ready to grab some grub after a good morning of skiing. The food is delightful, and the service has never failed to put a smile on my face. That said, the wait times can be a bit long and the restaurant is often packed full (surprise!).
Cinnamon rolls are amazing
Not much here. Expensive
Great sweet rolls and breakfast items
Crowded, but delicious.
Nice place for breakfast and coffee. Nice simple menu. Good atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Everything is so fresh. Don't leave without getting a loaf of their fresh bread and a sweet roll!
Not only do they have great thick bacon but they have delicious sourdough pancakes! When you visit you must order the Summer of 76 Breakfast! Don't forget to bring cash! They don't accept credit cards here. If the Sitz is open (the restaurant next door) you can sneak over there and use their ATM.
Great place to eat in Girdwood .Great bread!
Five stars for the food. Comfort food. Yummy sandwiches. Homemade soup, which you can sample before you buy. Excellent cinnamon rolls. Lukewarm friendly staff. Nice endpoint for the drive down Turnagain Arm looking for Belugas & Dall sheep. They have indoor seating & picnic tables outside where you can see the mountains & their beautiful flower baskets.
Good option for breakfast
An Excellent Breakfast stop in Girdwood Alaska. At the base of Alyeska. Gotta try their cinnamon rolls!
Perfect place for a hot chocolate, cappuccino or sandwich after a hard or cold day on the slopes.
Awesome food! You will not be disappointed.
If you want good authentic Filipino dessert, then this is your place.
Everything is made in house. Awesome pancakes and omelettes.
My wife and I have enjoyed their soup and sandwiches for years.
Nice staff and good food.
Rad food, excellent sourdough toast. Get there early, or stand in line and watch the early birds eating :)
I was there on a rainy late afternoon. Glad they were still open. Wonderful bread and soup was ok. I will order a different kind next time. The folks working were polite and friendly. They were cleaning to close but didn't feel hurried. I wanted a sweet roll but waited too long to order. There will be a next time.
A fun little stop for a sandwich with bread made on site and a cup of coffee. Good dessert was available, too!
Amazing food and giant cinnamon rolls!

Don't let the fact that it's out of the way or small fool you. The food is worth the trip and the decor will amaze anyone who enjoys flowers.
I love the cinnamon rolls and the daily soups after skiing.
Fantastic food and cinnamon rolls
Small establishment. Great customer service. Food was great.
Great little out of the way place. Very good.
Absolutely the best sandwiches ever!! Homemade breads
As far as we are concerned, it is the only place to go in Alaska for good sourdough pancakes. the sandwiches are awesome and the breakfasts are incredible. we make the 35 mile drive regularly just for breakfast.
Been going there since the 70's. Menu has never changed. Still the best food in the state.
Impossible burger special was wonderful
There cinnamon roll is SO GOOD! The spices in the bread were such a pleasant surprise! I had the summer of 76' breakfast, because I love sourdough pancakes. It was so yummy with a nice balance of protein and pancake. The bacon was delicious - thick and chewy. Eggs were runny and hot. The pancakes bubbly and sour- sweet perfection topped with real maple syrup.
Great staff serving yummy soups and sandwiches. You can get an endless bowl of soup with a large buttered sourdough bun for 10 bucks. Hard to beat. The clam chowder was especially good.
Breakfast omelet is delicious! Famous sourdough pancakes were good and fluffy, but a little too sour for me personally. Regardless, still a great experience!
They're grilled cheese sandwiches are decent. Meat and cheese nothing too extraordinary, however they really excel with their bread. Crisped to perfection and a wide assortment of fresh bread available. Soup is usually decent as well, definitely a lunch favorite in Girdwood.

Heart, delicious food. Can't wait to go back.
A must any time I visit Girdwood! My family and I have been going here for over 20 years at least once a year. We love their chicken salad sandwich and their soups! The nice thing about getting a bowl of soup is you get free refills! It has a nice homey atmosphere, and the staff is friendly. The flowers out front make it very inviting and are a great photo opportunity!
Best soup love the friendly staff always 5 star service and food
Homestyle made from scratch bottomless soup and fresh baked bread. Giant cinnamon rolls. Love this place!
Enjoyed sweet rolls and a wonderful breakfast
Made from scratch everything, attention to details, excellent customer service. Expect to be tempted by huge trays of fresh baked sweet rolls constantly coming out of the oven. Give in to the temptation. Try the soup. Any flavor, or all of them. Sourdough pancakes might not appeal to everyone, but try them anyway. They are uniquely delicious. Be advised, at first prices may seem a bit steep, but if you're on a budget, portions are large enough to split.
Packed place, comfort fast food, good coffee
The best grilled sandwich I have ever had.
Mushroom and spinach scramble was perfect. It isn't always easy to find a place that gets eggs right.
The sourdough toast and pancakes were everything we were told. Delicious breakfast!
Cool vibe. Great food.
Soup is always a good choice.
I am quite sure, this was the best omelette I have ever had! Very fluffy with amazing sour dough toast. Took to cinnamon roll to go.
Best soup I've had in ages. The art work from the local artists was neat to look at as well.
Great , we loved it !
You must get the sweet roll hot and fresh, and always take home a sourdough loaf! The sourdough loaf is the best I’ve ever had!
So many lunches eaten here and always wonderful! Hot and wholesome beef vegetable soup, light and buttery house made rolls and breads, Rubin sandwiches, and amazing breakfasts. So much better than daylodge food.
Amazing soup and cinnamon buns. Get the bread to go with the soup it's amazing
$10 for a turkey and Swiss sandwich and they will not give me lettuce or tomato without paying extra. Lame. Not worth it. Reply: No, I ordered a hot sandwich. Which was not $8.50...it was $9 plus tax = $10. I asked 2 different people for lettuce and tomato. The first guy just said I had to order it that way, so I went back to my seat. I took a bite, and it was super dry and missing all the ingredients of a sandwich. So, since I paid so much for it, I then walked back up to the deli side, and politely asked the young lady making coffee if it was possible to get some lettuce and tomato for my sandwich. She said I could order and pay for it as a side. Horrible horrible way to treat customers paying so much for such a poor excuse for a sandwich. Will not be back and will not recommend.
A nice lunch spot!
Wonderful, Fresh Sit outside and enjoy the view. These guys have it dialed in. Enjoy!
The best breakfast for a great price
Great staff serving yummy soups and sandwiches. You can get an endless bowl of soup with a large buttered sourdough bun for 10 bucks. Hard to beat. The clam chowder was especially good.
Had good coffee and a tasty omelette. Nice local art on the walls. Friendly staff. Cozy environment. Recommended.
Great coffee free-for-life with the purchase of a ceramic mug. My only regret is that it's a long way to go from Florida.
There cinnamon rolls were cooked too much, there is barely any softness to the roll. Very hard and flavor was not my favorite.
Very good food and pretty fast
The Bake shop really is a bakery that serves breakfast and lunch so open from 7am everyday. They specialise in sourdough so try some of the sourdough pancakes. Also the sweet bun large enough to feed a family of 4! They also have all the traditional breakfast offerings. Make sure you’re hungry when you visit.
It is our first time in Alaska and we stopped into your place for a wonderful lunch
Best soup on the planet!
Top-notch food - especially the soups and sandwich specials. Make sure to take (or eat there) an order of the cinnamon rolls as they are a classic. We've loved the recent sourdough baguettes that have been showing up more often and really appreciate the (somewhat) recent change to enable purchases by credit cards. This is a don't-miss stop in Girdwood and a reason to make the drive in itself.
Great fresh cooked food!
It's AMAZING food, I've gone there only for the food sometime.
Great food. Same great cinnamon rolls for the last 30 years!
A favorite spot with locals & tourists alike. Soups and the sourdough bread are legendary and guaranteed to warm you on a chilly day. If you're there in the summer, the amazing flowers out front are a sure sign that you're in the right place.
Great food and nice atmosphere
Buy the bun for $5, truly amazing. The sugar rush still has me shaking. Thereafter, the highlight and I kid you not, was the toast! I've never been impressed with toast before. Maybe it's because the omlette was dry and undesirable. The pancakes were uninspiring. There you have it, sugar rush buns bigger than a mountain, and toast. I wanted to go back, but my doctor said if I went back just one more time that I'd immediately get diabetes and die!
It was delicious; and just a pastrami sandwich at that. I love the tucked in diner feel, cozy against a mountain ski resort. Even with slightly broken English, the discussion they had with a customer wanting to bring 30 kids in was amazing and extremely helpful. Also, the endless soup bowls are perfect for a chilly but sunny day in the outdoor seating area.
Happy to say I still have free coffee for life and an amazing mug to add to the collection. At the base of Alyeska, it's the perfect spot to eat breakfast surrounded by stunning local art and photography and then ski the rest of the day. Some of the best breakfast I've had and definitely the best in Gridwood. Wouldn't miss!
Beautiful area to stop for a quick bite.
You might consider sharing because the cinnamon rolls are huge!!
Nice place. :) Friendly staff
Great local exemplar.... people are great and the food is wonderful!!
Great food nice place
Really great food, great friendly people. They were kind, accommodating and welcoming to our group of 8 adults and 10 kids. Sourdough rolls were amazing! Cookies were excellent too.
Another staple of Girdwood that is a must visit. I have extremely fond memories of visiting this place as a child with my father. The cinnamon rolls are unmatched in taste and decadence in my opinion. Always a busy shop, but well worth the wait.
Fresh great tasting homemade food and friendly staff.
Not good service. Ordered 2 sandwiches, the first one came quick but after waiting several minutes for the 2nd one we were told it wouldn’t be ready for another 20 min. If you take that long to make a sandwich you should at least let folks know. And who wants to watch their friends eat a sandwich when yours won’t be there for another 20 minutes.
Wow, 30 years a customer and now they say no more center cuts on iconic jelly cinnamon rolls. Should tell the bakers to tone down the bake temps. if there's that kind of demands for center cuts. Edge rolls are a bit crispy for most return customers I'd say.
Good food, reasonable prices. Inside and outside seating. We happened to get there while a bus-full of people were ordering, so the wait in THAT line was bad - a second cashier would have been nice. But food came out pretty quick after ordering. Also would have preferred an un-sliced loaf of bread to go - that wasn't available. One more thing - it's a little hard to find. The road loops right there - park, then walk up thru the parking lot, slightly right of center. Look for hanging flower baskets. Update a few weeks later: the first time, we got sandwiches on their terrific buns. The second time, a different order-taker said "all our sandwiches come on toast. Buns are not available." I explained we had gotten buns before - she said "must have been a special that day." The point is: the buns are the best thing there - Bend the rules!
Excellent sourdough pancakes!!! Great flowers out front. Try it you will like it.
Great sandwiches
Excellent. Great soups and sandwiches
Definitely lives up to its name. The sweet rolls are basically a meal in themselves, and the other things we order for breakfast were also great. Coffee was disappointing, though.
Amazing sourdough bread and coffee!!
We came for breakfast which they serve till 1. Thank you! But, um...this is not a place to eat if you have social anxiety. Community seating caught me completely off gaurd, and I didn't realize it until after I ordered. So, I can't say I enjoyed my self. However, the food and coffee are really good and the people are really nice. I mean, I'm still giving the place 5 stars even though I might never return. I would order to go. Oh, and I think if you guys put your logo on some of those glass mugs they would sell like hotcakes! I know I would have bought 2.
Great adventure! Eat indoor or out, sourdough bread so good, service pretty quick considering the crowd there at the brunch hour.
Wonderful food, great atmosphere. The sweet rolls are amazing!
The sweet rolls! The sourdough! The breakfast! Outstanding! Very positive staff, great location by mt. Alyeska
We stayed in Girdwood for a few days, this place had good reviews so we tried it. It met all expectations. I tried the sourdough pancakes, delicious! My family had a few different options for breakfast and they were all yummy. I would definitely eat here again if I am ever lucky enough to find myself in the Girdwood area.
I have been coming here for over 40 years. Always a bright spot when the weather shining or not. Wonderful fresh baked breads and best sweet rolls in North America.
Delicious and reasonably priced. Small and sometimes a little crowded but very friendly.
Amazing place to eat. Worth the drive in from Anchorage just for brunch. Must visit when in town.
Turkey bacon avacado sandwich was awesome
The grilled sandwiches are really good. The ones on a roll are dry.
Really great food, great friendly people. They were kind, accommodating and welcoming to our group of 8 adults and 10 kids. Sourdough rolls were amazing! Cookies were excellent too.
Great clam chowder, gorgeous location.
Get the bottomless soup and a cinnamon roll!!
Best goulash soup, bread, and cinnamon roll EVERRRRR!!!!
Great lunch at the Bake shop. Had a giant cinnamon swirl with some coffee. The coffee was as standard as it gets, but the food was a great welcome to the area.
Another staple of Girdwood that is a must visit. I have extremely fond memories of visiting this place as a child with my father. The cinnamon rolls are unmatched in taste and decadence in my opinion. Always a busy shop, but well worth the wait.
A great place to take friends and family after hiking up Alyeska. The staff is friendly and the food is great. I recommend trying the cheese and veggie sandwich if you don't eat meat.
Great food and a beautiful view
If you don't go here, you're missing out. I visit every time. Food has always been so yummy! I've been a lifetime customer and will remain one.
Had a great breakfast on our way out of town driving up the Seward highway. Sour dough pancakes? You decide.
Food is excellent and the staff is great. A little on the pricey side for my wallet.
This place never changes....I haven't been here in 30 years. The soups, sweet rolls and sourdough pancakes are just as delicious as they were in my childhood!
Great stop, good soup and sandwich, good and quick service, great surprise find.
We stayed in Girdwood for ten days and I believe we ate at The Bake Shop at least seven of those day. We loved it! Staff and customers were all friendly and welcoming. Food was great and loved their coffee!
A little pricey but delicious and good atmosphere.
