In town for a few days so I thought I’d try some local eateries. This place is amazing! It is my new favorite spot. I had the chicken and waffles and it just went together perfectly. The chicken was out of this world. Going back today for lunch!

John and Denise are wonderful and they make such awesome food! If you like food with a soul then you need to check out Out of the Box. They make everything from scratch which is reflected in the food. SO many good options I just have to keep going back to try them all. I love the new location (down from their original spot) as you can now dine in or drive up. They are also so great about doing phone in orders so you can take it to go with out the wait (not that you have to wait long).

This place was exceptional!!! Every plate of food on our table was served beautifully, hearty and seasoned to perfection, full of flavor! My new fav!!!! We all wanted to order a second plate if Every thing we got because it was SO GOOD! Its a must eat place, let's keep them in business- Anchorage needs places like this!!! Friendly knowledgeable staff on what and how to order if you have food senstivities to certain things (gluten, dairy, egg), they will happily accommodate the dish to your specification by adding/deleting what you can and can't have :)

Stopped by with my 2 kids since it was by the bus stop on the way home and I was getting a bit hangry. It was DELICIOUS! Just finished eating and I'm full and happy after a long day at the library and on a ton of busses. We are new to the area and so happy there's a great place to stop in within walking distance! We had the blta and grilled cheese with sweet potato fries. The folks there were super nice too. I hope they aren't out of cookies next time!

My wife has celiacs so this was an amazing find. We've eaten here several times in the last week and tried most things on the menu, all were delicious. The buffalo burgers were juicy, the fried rockfish was flavorful but not greasy. Just about everything is scratch made so they do run out of things and the place is small so it can get crowded quickly so it's better to visit on the off hours or get take out.

Decent food, bad service. First, you must order your food at the counter. Not a big deal, but the place is small and the line can build quick. I ate here with a group of coworkers, when I was done I ordered a meal to go for a constituent who couldn’t join. The whole order was forgotten and the cooks made fun of me for wanting more food when I reminded them. They never apologized or acknowledged their mistake it was kinda frustrating. I just won’t go back, go ahead and see for yourself though.

Really enjoyed the burgers we had, they were good quality. The fries too were good. The menu was a little more interesting than your standard burger stop. They don't stay open very late and when we arrived as I've of the last customers before closing they were out of a lot of things. I'd go again for an early dinner.

My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant around 3:00 p.m. today. When we got there, I asked the woman at the front taking the orders how long the chicken fingers would take due to time constraints for work. She said (condescendingly) "If I can get this order in then it will be quick." Despite her attitude, I proceeded to order and my girlfriend ordered as well. About 10 minutes passed and I was just about out of time, so I went to the front and asked if the order was almost ready. The same woman responded and said (again condescendingly) "no, this isn't your order." I decided to leave because I did not want to be late for work (and thanked her for her time). My girlfriend told me later that literally 30 seconds after I left, our order was ready and was delivered by the same woman who had taken the order (and the woman who just moments prior dismissed my request for the status of our order). I write this review not to speak ill of all the employees at this establishment, but to call out bad service when I see it. It only takes a few moments to treat people with respect and dignity. On a different note, my girlfriend did say the food was "really good." So I would like to commend the cook staff for their hard work in preparing our food. I hope (suggest) that the owners of this establishment find a new individual to take peoples orders and notify people when their orders are ready. It might help to get repeat business.

I had the popcorn coconut shrimp, It was awesome and the orange marmalade dipping sauce was a perfect match. The staff was polite and friendly and the place was immaculate, don't be fooled by the outside. If you are looking for Gluten free food this is a great choice for lunch.

Absolutely delicious! Everything I have tried is delicious! Gluten free chocolate chip cookies, best I've ever had!! The only 2 down falls, 1- it is more of a lunch establishment, wish they stayed open until maybe 7pm. 2- I wish some of the staff was a bit friendlier, seems like some or 1, let's the rush affect her customer service skills. Other than that, absolutely amazing!

Amazing! The first thing you notice when you walk in is the heavenly smell of their wood-fired grill. The entire menu is gluten-free and Celiac-friendly, but they do offer traditional buns and breads for gluten-eaters, upon request. I had the chicken parmesan sandwich and my husband had the chicken and waffle. To die for!

I have to give this one 5 stars. (Consistent with Google's inflated scoring system). We were just in town for the day and looking for something close to the airport and found this gem. Looks are deceiving-- it appears to be a bit of a dive in a run-down section of town. The food was fresh and delicious. Our party enjoyed a fried halibut sandwich, grilled halibut tacos, and a delicious hamburger. All were delightfully prepared, fresh, and tasty. Service was great as well.

It is so great to finally have gluten free food available that is fresh, delicious, and loved by adults and kids alike. I also really appreciated the happy and sweet atmosphere. Not only is it gluten free, has great character and atmosphere, they really do have the best sandwiches in town- hands down- gluten free or not- the quality is top notch. Just moved to Alaska so I checked out reviews before I ate at this restaurant. I've eaten here about 4 days in a row...yes, that's how much I enjoyed the food. I recommend the truffle butter burger and sweet potato fries. You can choose either buffalo or Angus beef...I fancy the buffalo. I do not recommend the fish tacos...not flavorful enough for my taste. Overall, it's worth trying this place just for the sweet potato fries! However (and I hope the owner reads this) my last order of sweet potato fries was noticeably lacking in sweetness :/

This place is a quaint lil place. It's fairly new. You will not regret coming here. You have a choice to choose regular or gluten free, Angus or beef, potatoes or sweet potatoes, etc. The veggies were so fresh on my burger. They are not the regular veggies you get on your burger at Red Robin. These are the best kind of veggies. You won't be disappointed.

The fried chicken sandwich was really good! Sweet potato fries were too. It was obvious the ingredients were fresh, and everything meshed together really well. Not much 9f a drink selection but they'll offer water regardless of what else you might pick. The menu was a little difficult to follow initially but we picked up on it fast. Would recommend!

This is a great place to eat if you are or are not Gluten Free. Excellent food and a friendly warm staff in a simple diner atmosphere. I can't rate it highly enough! The chicken strips are hands down the best I've ever had period. Large, tender and full of flavor. The BLTA salad was delicious & I'm now waiting for a pork steak meal that comes with eggs, smashed potatoes with truffle oil. Everything is made fresh to order, the little extra time you wait for this kind of quality is well worth it. Everything is gluten free, but they do have wheat buns available for the grass fed burgers (I've yet to try). You really should check this place out, it's a treasure!

4 Star food, 1 Star service. Both the lady who took our orders and the women who served us were very rude. When ordering, she kept cutting us off when we wanted to continue ordering and then yelled out squirrel. When we received our food there was bacon on the burger when we didn’t expect it. When we asked our server if we received the right burger she was very short and rude. All in all ruined our experience there. Food was quite delicious though!

Best place to eat in Anchorage, it's locally owned/operated and also gluten free! Their fried chicken strips and hand cut french fries are THE BEST. It is absolutely amazing to have a place that is safe for me to eat at with my food allergies. I always end up ordering extra cupcakes to take home because they are so darn tasty. My husband who is not celiac and does not have food allergies still prefers to eat here over anywhere else in Anchorage.

First time. Lots of gluten free options. When asking for a recommendation he could not provide one stating that if it isn't good he would not sell it. No fountain drinks because they are bacteria havens. They do have a good variety of canned and bottled drinks. Pricing is in line with the area. My Chicken Parm sandwich was 13 dollars. They have Buffalo, Angus and Grass Fed options. Much of what they serve they make including the bread.

I love out of the box! I live across the street. The hand made chicken strips are the best in Anchorage imo. Perfect breading & not too much seasoning. Also the Tacos are top notch, tortillas are fried perfectly! (And this is coming from a Hispanic!) I keep ordering the same things every time... But one day I'll try the chicken fried steak or cod sandwich. I love the menu variety too! The only negatives i I have is that the smoke smell is too much for me to stay longer (probably a kitchen vent issue) and long lunch rush wait times, and I just wish the hours of operation were better for my schedule. But I understand it's a small business. I hope they get another location or bigger building.

Foods that usually are gluten free can never replace the original flavor and recipe. But this place did a great job of that! Hoping next time itll have more "salt" (the seasoning was great but abit bland). Inside of the building does look a trainwreck but dont let that fool you. 4 stars if the building wasnt such a eyesore, 5 stars if they add sime salt.

This place is Amazing! I have to eat gluten free and I was so excited to try the food here, which is an all gluten free establishment. (Although you can get regular bread if you want.) I had the spicy chicken burger which included pickled jalepenos. I had to get an order of sweet potato fries and I finished off with a homemade cupcake. Out of The Box is delicious! The spices were just right and my friends enjoyed their food as well. Can't wait to go back!

Great funky little neighborhood lunch spot with a chill, creative vibe and good range of options. Sat at the counter and ordered the pulled pork on brioche with mango BBQ sauce. Service was quick despite prominent disclaimers about varying wait times for certain dishes. I left perfectly satisfied and will be back the next time I’m in the Spenard area.
