You will be able to see the reviews of real people who are buying the services and products of Mexico In Alaska Restaurant (Restaurant) in Alaska.
Right now the business gets a rating of 4.1 stars over 5 and the rating has been based on 143 reviews.
As you can read, the average of ratings is really high, and it is founded on a very high number of opinions, so we may think that the score is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to value when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to place opinions when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Mexican restaurant.
I had a delicious Gordita. The corn flour was perfect. I think they should add a little more cheese for the topping.
Kind of a quiet hole in the wall place where the food was tasty but particularly pricier than other Mexican joints in town. Not sure if the trade-off is worth that but overall it was a good experience and seems like a decent place to take a date.
Very good food, friendly and informative waitress, who turned out to be the woman who started the restaurant 47 years ago!
Authentic real Mexican food. Not Tex-Mex. Everything homemade. They've been doing it well for about 40 years.
Delicious! I'm a regular for their lunch buffet.
My husband and I ate here and we both got sick. We will never be going back. The chips are already on the tables meaning they are very stale. Our friends arrived and I went toward the door to greet them and the hostess cut me off and was demanding to know why I was leaving. I had to ask two different people before I was able to get the booster seats for our friends kids. The food is expensive especially when the plate comes out and you see your tiny portions. The beans and rice are on a different plate than your food. So you have all these plates on a small table. We asked for hot sauce and they kept bringing us more salsa. They also do not have margaritas. They did not say the plates are hot either when they brought out the food. What kind of Mexican place is this? A terrible one...
My favorite Traditional Mexican resteraunt. They even havecooking classes.
Very good authentic Mexican food. A little pricier than average, but the food and atmosphere is excellent.
Subpar tex-mex. Stale, old chips. Salsa ok. No draft beers, only bottles. Asked twice if the carne de puerco was the same as carnitas as it was described as fried pork. Turned out to be stewed pork and not very good.
Food is great. Have a fantastic chocolate mole sauce. Awesome tamales as well
great price and good food
Exactly what I was craving. The jalapeño cream sauce is the bees knees. Cute atmosphere and friendly staff.
Its was pretty good.
Did not like the food!
Love this place. Best Mexican food in Anchorage
I'm definitely not impressed with this place, first off, they didn't have tamales & I always have a tamale at a Mexican restaurant the first time I go there. I got the crispy dog & it taste good. They leave their chips/salsa/water out on the tables which I feel is unsanitary. The single taco/rice/beans my friend ordered was very small portions, but taste ok. The service was prompt & friendly & the food came quickly, but overall not somewhere I'll be going again.
bought some veggie burritos from Carrs in eagle river, inside the package was spicy beef flavor burritos. Only happened once but still not cool.
We just ate at this place today. My girlfriend and I had the queso fundito (or something like that)... we have just stopped throwing up and still feeling really sick. Food was nasty and their chicken I think was old and gone bad. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

A great place for lunch
Favorite Mexican restaurant in Anchorage
Great family place for fun birthday gathering. Love them!!
Best nachos in town. I have been coming here since I was 5? 22 years later and I still love it.
Great food, great service!! Plus they have chicken molé!
Sub-par food, spotty service. I can much rather enjoy taco night at home than need to go someplace like here. Looks enticing from the outside, but just take a picture and drive on.
I wish I could put a Zero review instead of one cuz this is probably the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. There's absolutely nothing authentic about this place.
Restrauant has gone downhill lately. Stale chips are always served. Food is dried & tastes awful, but the service was decent and the owner is so nice...please get a new cook in your restaurant
Service was slow, but the food was pretty good. The sangriarita was delicious and comes highly recommended. The portions on my taco plate were very large, I couldn't finish my meal! I also enjoyed the guacamole, but it is a fairly standard guac and not necessarily a reason in itself to go here. The staff was very friendly though and the atmosphere was nice.
Service was great, friendly staff, comfortable environment, fair prices.
Excellent mole Chichen Enchiladas mmmmm mm yummy and the Guayaba Drink ahhhh!!!!
Excellent customer service and great food
Just love this place. Great Mexican food in Alaska.
Chips are stale. Salsa is cold and has no kick. Absence of guacamole. Chips are not bottomless either. Pricey, small portions. Rice was cooked the night before, Canned refried beans. lettuce seems like a filler lights are low. My company felt like we were in a tanning bed . Lol Enchiladas are skinny and swimming in mole. Menus plastered on the table. I did not leave the restaurant with a Mexican music ear-worm, nor with stuffed belly.
Always good
Wonderful food and people! The combo meals come with tortillas so you can make a bean and rice taco as a bonus. Don't forget you can grab a dozen homemade frozen burritos for those late night cravings.
Good food and nice staff. The restaurant could use some renovation.
They have the best mole(sauce) I have found in Alaska.
The restaurant looks a little shady, but the food is the best Mexican I have had since I went to California. The Service was okay, but the food has guaranteed my presence there again. Mexico in Alaska compared to Gallo's is like comparing McDonalds to Club Paris.
My favorite Mexican restaurant in Alaska!
This is the only restaurant in Alaska that serves good Mexican food. Service was a bit lacking.
Carnitas with jalapeño crema sauce!
I'm El Paso Texas born and raised, this place reminds me of home! Definetly my home away from home here!
average Mexican food, good service
Perhaps it was a one off night for them. I was expecting more from the number of positive reviews on here. It was not horrible but below average. Chips were not fresh and service was the real disappointment. Never had ice tea refilled and salsa was only filled once. Food itself not up to par of several trips in Mexico as well as authentic cuisine from CA,Tx,Az, and Nm. Hoping for a better experience next time.
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Anchorage area. It is family owned since the 70s and has unique dishes you won't find at franchise restaurants.

I have been coming here for 25 years and absolutely love it. The staff is always friendly and the mole sauce is fantastic. Family place
Very good Mexican food for Alaska. This one is the closest to good Mexican food that you can find, and the salsa is very good.
The best food and service
We have been coming her for 30 years. They have the best service and food. Treat you like family.
Nice family resturant
Awesome lunch buffet of authentic Mexico food. Best Mexican food in Anchorage!
Great Food. We'll good again.
Food was good. We were there for a catered birthday party so not sure how the actual service is for eating in the main restaurant, but was good for the party.
Lunch Buffet-Tuesdays thru Friday
Great restaurant, authentic mexican food. Menu is good, buffet is better. Buffet is available everyday for lunch, and sunday all day. Make sure you try the mole, if you don't then you should probably regret all of your decisions that you've made in the last decade that led up to that choice.
September set menu was divine from start to finish
I had the Chile Rellenos and it was really runny and didn't taste good. Service wasn't very good either. I most likely will not be returning to this restaurant.
Lunch buffet is a great way to get full! Steak fajitas on the buffet! Yessir! Best Mexican food in anchorage... Hands down!
Claims to be authentic Mexican food. It's good, but it's not like the food that I've gotten in Mexico. Could be a different region. They've been here a long time. They make many dishes that are really good. I like the lunch buffet. And their chicken.
If you want TRADITIONAL HOMEMADE Mexican food, Mexico in Alaska is where it's at!!! It is not americanized it is real Mexican South of the Boarder and very south in Mexico!! If you want American Mexican this is not your place to go this place is the real deal. Their lunch buffet is fantastic and a great deal for all you can eat. I have tasted most all their food and is the best in town! My fav is Tacos El Pastor with Pollo try it! You won't be disappointed.
The absolute BEST Mexican food in Alaska. The mole sauce was delicious and unique, and the owner, Maria-Elena, was very friendly and sweet. She made sure we had a great experience. The jalapeño cream sauce was amazing. Everyone was extremely satisfied and I will definitely go back!
In 20 years of going to Mexico in Alaska, our last three times have been less than optimal. Saturday was the last straw. I ordered Tacos al pastor with lengua (tongue). It was one of my favorites. That day the tongue was freezer-burnt and the tortillas were also burnt. We asked if they could replace the dish and they did; only to bring us more of the same burnt food. We pointed that out to the waitress and her reply was it is normal to serve burnt tortillas. Also, we requested jalapeño sauce, and she brought a pink sauce. So, we asked about the color and taste of the sauce and the waitress said that they changed the recipe...
Coming here is like being invited into a warmly hospitable home for real, down to earth, the-way-grandma-made-it food. Hint: have the Mexican tea; best herbal iced tea anywhere.
Superb service and absolutely delicious food
Great restaurant that has been around for decades.
Delicious food, very good lunch buffet.
The mole sauce is the best I've ever had, and I grew up in Texas. The Chile Relleno is the most spectacular of it's kind I've ever enjoyed, and the flan is one of my favorite deserts.
Real Mexican food, not TexMex. A locally-owned multi-generational family business that we have enjoyed for Decades! Wonderful owners with a talent for hiring great staff. Always clean. Always easy to park in their large free parking lot. Always exceptional food, fresh and plentiful. If you leave here hungry then you left lots of food on your plate
Ok service, appeared clean but the shredded beef was almost flavorless and the chips didn't taste fresh.
Great service and food. Homemade tortillas and tamales are available for sale.
most authentic mexican in this state. anyone who says different has never lived in the southwest.

I love this place
Small not stuff.i liked
Gross! Went once and will never go back.
Great food good service couldn't ask for more
I really like the food and coffee here
Lunch Buffet very disappointing. Less than a dozen things to choose from (that includes Spanish Rice and Refried Beans as two of the available choices), 3 pans were empty and everything that was left was dried out, and old. Every table in the place had the chips and salsa already served. Only about 5 tables had customers. The chips tasted stale, made me ask myself if they were set out today or earlier this week? On the menu, the lunch buffet is $13.50. There was two of us in my party, we both got the buffet and instead of our ticket being $27.00, it was $33.00. They changed it at the register but I'm glad my son noticed. As an overweight man, I usually make 3 or more trips to a buffet, I didn't even finish a single plate.
Absolutely the best authentic Mexican food in all of Alaska. Every time I visit, the staff is friendly, prompt and the food is fantastic. It's a bit expensive and the portions aren't huge, but it's a healthy portion. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.
This place is the best! Great authentic Mexican food, excellent service.
I had some really yummy lamb tacos. Like all Mexican restaurants in Anchorage it suffers from a certain lack in authenticity, but it was still good. I'd eat here again.
Worst Mexican food in Anchorage. Had a burrito, and I kid you not, they unwrapped a frozen burrito, slapped it on a plate and nuked it. It was still cold in the center when I got it too.
Best mexican food I have had since leaving las vegas, food is traditional, flavorful and excellent. Prices for Anchorage are very cheap for the quality of the food.
Lovely family style restaurant
I love Mexico in Alaska! It's hard to tell people what is or isn't authentic, Mexico is a big country just like the USA with lots of regional variation in food, but their food is what I enjoyed in Mexico. I love their pollo frito and their molé. Better get some salsa to go! You'll want it at home.
Probably my favorite Mexican food in town. Extremely friendly staff, brought over extra chips and salsa before our order came, and our order was cooked up quickly. The food was delicious and very nicely prepared/presented. 10/10 experience the times I've gone.
Mole was yummy. Great and friendly service. Thanks! We'll be back.
Points for authenticity! Native Texan in Alaska, salsa-enthusiast. Great menu, decent prices, outstanding chips and salsa. Cool atmosphere to boot. Update: Food was fire. Absolutely awesome. One of the best meals I've had in a while. One of the kitchen folks (and/or management) asked how it was and we told her!!
Best homemade tortillas I’ve found in Anchorage.
I always have Chili Rellenos when eating Mexican out and These are simply the best, and fresh homemade flour tortillas too! We love going for lunch or dinner. My friend likes the enchiladas, and the cactus with eggs and veggies is great also. There's nothing too fancy about this place but the food is always good, and we've had no visits that include kids out off control, etc. When the owners kid's are there, they are always in the background, quiet, and courteous. The only problem with going here is I always eat too much...
Salsa and chips- both excellent Carne asada- great Jalapeño salsa- amazing
LOVE this restaurant ❤️
Food is amazing although service can be a little hit or miss. Endless chips and salsa is a great add on too!
It's hard to get 5 stars from me... however their restaurant is clean, service was hospitable, attentive, and patient with a variety of picky and indecisive eaters. The flavor of the food was balanced and fresh. I ordered a gordita haven't seen that on a menu. It's AMAZING! Huge! It's like a Mexican pot pie almost without the top. It was delicious. This place broke my 3 year ban on Mexican restaurants in Alaska.
