I've only been here once so far and my husband and I both ordered burgers, though they do offer Hawaiian dishes and seafood as well. We both really enjoyed our burgers, they were filling and delicious. I really liked my fries as well which were battered and fried to a golden crisp. The service was friendly as well. I would go back for another burger, or I might try some of that delicious looking/smelling teriyaki.

Not a flashy place, but the burgers are tasty and quite large. Special bonus: this is an uncommon place in Anchorage because they actually serve fried okra! They have a pretty diverse menu... check them out when you are ready for good food in a low key atmosphere.

One word to describe the experience known as Max's. "Lit". From the burgers to the egg rolls Max's fires on all cylinders. I usually get the burger with egg, and for the price it's way lit, fam. Wayyyyyy better than anything straight out of philly has to offer.

Great quality food, and nice simple place to eat out. One problem that I've encountered each time I stop by is the overwhelming heat in the restaurant. Great for those who want to stay warm, not so great for those who prefer to be in the cold. Aside from the blasting heat, restroom can use some TLC. Great food, but a very hot restaurant to eat in.

My food came in about 10 minutes when I ordered for delivery. I am pretty much right around the corner, but still, pretty amazing time. The food was super hot and Delicious. I usually order the Super Burger and Steak fries. I got chicken nuggets for my kid and they are way better than McD's imo. They never disappoint when I'm in the mood for a burger. Update: 3 years from original review. I still get the super burger and fries regularly. Usually order pickup though. It was ready in 5minutes tonight! The super burger is just awesome. Hands down my favorite burger in town. And the counter girl working tonight was much nicer and friendlier than one from a few months ago - i think i saw another review about her. For a whilethey had a grumpy girlup front. Just looked like she hated her job and didn't care that it showed. Wasn't friendly at all. Girl tonight was super cool though.

Not so good. Fries were dried out. Cheese burger less than average. Fried fish burger thin and not tasty at all. Had 5 or 6 types of food. Maybe should stick to one or two and make them special. And clean and tidy up the kitchen. Yuck.

We have been going to Max's for years but had noticed in last few years that the food was not as good and the people working there were far from friendly. However, today we decided to give them another try and was pleasantly surprised. We got a Max's Burger and a Hawaiian Chicken and both were very good. The fries were really crispy and great. The banana shake was the best shake in a very long time. It is made with real bananas. The lady working the phone and counter was very nice and friendly. We will be going there again for sure.

AMAZING!!!! Their bbq sauce comes from Hawaii, they are extremely friendly and great customer service. French fries were crisp, hot and perfectly salted. Fried mushrooms were perfect, pretzel was soft but not mushy, burgers were bomb!!!! I had bbq chicken and husband had hungry man triple cheeseburger. We found our new favorite place to eat!!!

I don't know what happened before but this restaurant is great under new management. They have great customer service and their foods are delicious! Especially their chicken wings are to die for - it is very crispy and tastes just right. Wait time was pretty short as well. I will definitely be back sometime soon.

I did not have a burger here, so I can't judge on that. The chicken sandwich I had was horrible. They use the frozen patties. Inside the "restaurant" was cold and unwelcoming. They would need to put some work into it to get a five stars. My husband was very unhappy with the fried chicken meal he got.

Great food, smaller dining area older look and feel, but the food was fantastic. Had the King Max burger, Club sandwich and fries. Fries were crispy without the grease, but still soft inside. Beautiful dark golden brown. The burger was massive and full of different flavors that all mixed well. The sandwich was on thick white bread and was of considerable size with all the toppings. Great place. Will be visiting again.

The Hunger Burger is a dinner in itself. Bacon, ham, fried egg, avocado, cheese, and two beef patties. Remove the bun and it's a good low- carb meal.

Extensively poor. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and it came out mostly onions, green peppers and beef boullion. It's obvious that the cooks haven't the slightest idea what a steak sandwich is. The French fries were Ore-Ida crinkle cuts. You can get a better deal from Safeway.

I called and placed an order, then went to go pick it up and as soon as I opened the door, one of the guys who prepares the food(Im guessing the cook) was sitting behind the register w/ the cashier lady...WITH HIS FINGER WAY UP IN HIS NOSE! Then after removing his finger out of his nose, he went directly to touching my bag, which had my food in it and handed it to me. It was one of the most disgusting thing I ever saw! I've eaten there previously a few times and I love their burgers and fries. That was my only complaint, so people who are interested in this place, BEWARE! And if you guys who work there are reading this, please tell him something. They keep that banner in the way so we can't see what they're doing back there

The menu is outrageous! Max's is more than a 'best hamburger in town' burger joint. Not only do they have fantastic burgers...but you can eat Asian food; Mexican; Hawaiian; Seafood; Chicken dishes and choose from a list of sandwiches from Philly & New York cheese and beef steaks to Deli style--great place to go if you're not sure what you want and enjoy variety of well prepared, delicious foods. But one of the best kept secrets of Max's Beefy Burgers is their French Fries! The Ab-so-lute BEST in Alaska!!! The owner (John) and his workers are all quick with a smile and eager to please to make eating there a great experience. But don't take my word for it--go there and see for yourself. Treat yourself to one of the Ab-so-lute BEST Anchorage has to offer and don't forget to try those FRIES!!!

Locates in a strip mall with medium size parking lot. Locally owned with varieties on the menu. Hawaiian BBQ plates, hotdogs, burgers, salads, etc. The Max burger i had was good, and fries were nice and hot. Price is relatively cheap compared to other places. Friendly and accommodating staff will take your order at the counter and they will call you when your order is ready. No table service here but they have everything you will need whether it's napkins, ketchup, mustard, or plastic utensils at the counter.

I ordered from them. By the time I got my food it was cold. I called just wanting to get food that wasn't cold. The lady argued with me about it being cold.(Obviously if I'm calling it is cold!) This is the second time I've ordered from them and the food was cold. I live around the corner from them. I would have just ate there but the place is nasty. Lack of customer service and bad food.

Changed management a few years back, and it was for the better. Not the fastest or the slowest service. Friendly staff, decent prices (overpriced drinks though), decent plate sizes. Bathroom needs to be cleaned more. Good option for a quick bite to eat if you want to avoid fast food. Large , varied menu.

AMAZING FOOD!!! There's something for everyone on this menu! Prices are just a little bit high but the food is so beyond worth it! The owners and employees are very kind and made me feel like family! I had the Hawaiian barbeque plate with short ribs, beef and chicken... It came with mac salad and 2 scoops of rice.... ordered a small Dr Pepper to go with.... The total amount of the bill was $17.95....I was so full and happy when I left! I'll be back for sure!!!

If I had an option to give this place no stars that's what it would be. Service is terrible, and food is questionable. Just seen the comment from a fellow who said this place was "Lit" and "better than straight outta philly" that's a joke if I ever read one. Save your money go to MikeDonalds (McDonalds).

Changing my review from prior owners/transition period, everything is made really well. It is a greasy spoon, so you're not seeing the kitchen. In most diners you'd expect multi-cuisine and multi-item menus to be miserably mediocre. This is not the case. Burgers are cheaper and way more loaded than any McDonald's you'll ever order, the galbi is to die for, even the cold macaroni salad is good and butter-y. I love this place.

So pleasantly surprised by this little spot! We’ve driven by daily for years but never stopped in. That’s a shame, because we found out tonight they are awesome! Clean restaurant with a cute little toy area for kids. The young lady at the counter (Sheena) is an absolute customer service gem. My husband and I both had bacon cheeseburgers (mine with a fried egg - yum!!!), fries and wings. All super fresh, hot, and delicious. If you’ve eaten here in the past and been underwhelmed, try again because they are under new ownership. I’ve eaten at many more expensive fancier places and been far less impressed. It’s a super casual, quick, no brainer - try it!!!

This is going to be an odd review. My first time ordering from here due to a recommendation by a friend. I order for delivery and clearly state my address multiple times. I'm told it's going to take an hour which is completely normal. An hour passes and I'm called again and told that my order is ready but my place is too far away to deliver to. They ask me if I want to come pick it up...A waste of food and an hour of time starving. Great first impression.
