It definitely has a family diner atmosphere. The menu, which is printed like a newspaper, is focused on breakfast items, sandwiches, and dinners. Not much for salads. I just had the onion rings and it was a enormous portion and they were very fresh and tasty. The service was great.

What a gem of a restaurant I decided to try out! I had seen good reviews previously but just haven't had the opportunity to check it out for myself. I had a lovely breakfast of eggs and biscuits and gravy. Gravy was delicious, and the eggs were not over cooked. Can't wait to try their open-faced turkey sandwich.

Always enjoy the food, not the best service. Today, an Expo very obviously had chewing tobacco in his mouth. I’m fairly certain that it’s against food code to be chewing while HANDLING FOOD. He was constantly readjusting the chew in his mouth, even when he was handling food. Even if this is not against food code, I definitely do NOT want chew particles in my food. Our waitress took almost 20 minutes to notice that we were trying to pay for our meal. It wasn’t that it was ridiculously busy, she just failed to pay attention to us. I am a fan of the food, but after today, I doubt I will return to the resturant. Good customer service beats awesome food anyday.

Never eat there when no manager is on duty. The vegi skillet is supposed to have sautéed vegetables. Well the “sautéed” tomatoes were cold, not room temp cold but refrigerator cold. That is not my issue, my issue is the young man who waited on us. He tried to apologize by spinning a tale of how hard cooking tomatoes are. I call BS, because I was a cook in the Marines. At a bear minimum don’t lie to an old man because he has heard it before. On weekends avoid this place the owners do!!!!!!

The Andy's Awesome Burger is the best burger in Anchorage. Anybody who says otherwise has not tried this delicious burger. It is a hand pressed patty piled high with rafted onion strings, jalapeno cheese, bacon, and BBQ sauce. I cannot speak to the other dishes in the restaurant as I have not tried them, so really my 5-star rating is for the Andy's Awesome Burger. Service was a little slower than normal, but that was due to the fact every table in the restaurant was filled when we sat down and the kitchen was slammed. After a worthwhile wait, my friend and I were able to enjoy the best burger in Anchorage. (Sorry Long Branch, you don't have jalapeno cheese and use too much mayo).

Honestly love breakfast. Their menu is like an old fashioned newspaper and once you narrow down what you actually want to eat you'll be blown away by their portion sizes. I told my son that the pancakes are the size of my head. He didn't believe me til I held one up next to my face. Food is delicious, and the service is friendly. I will be going back again and again

I don't think I can express enough words to describe how amazing the homemade gravy is. The service was good, the food I had ordered (their chicken fried steak, which is great) and the portions feel appropriate or better than the prices. The gravy is what sold me though, it was savory and it went well with EVERYTHING on my plate not just the steak. Do yourself a favor and eat here

Kriner's new owners have a long history of providing great Alaskan diner fare -- those familiar with the original Sourdough Sal's in Soldotna will find the atmosphere and menu very familiar. Classic American Diner food, cooked to perfection to order. The Chicken Fried Steak is not to be missed! Fries are delicious! Not to mention the killer homemade pies and the massive cinnamon rolls that Sal's was known for. Great prices, friendly staff, and free parking!

Our group of people had our choice to dine anywhere in Anchorage. We had done upscale for the previous two nights, and the suggestion was "comfort" food. We pulled up Yelp for suggestions. My son said " I've heard good things about Kriners", so we went. The parking lot looked a little unloved. Inside, however, we were met with warmth and a friendliness that is rare anywhere. The food was brilliant. The meatloaf was not a slice; by most standards it was the entire meatloaf. The burger was so fantastic that I'm not sure what magic was performed, but I want the spell. The service was brilliant. Heather was honestly engaging and made us feel like the most important customers in the world. Super professional, too! She knew each item by number and verified the components back to each person-- impressive! There should be a big sign on the outside which says: Where Locals Eat I'm hypothesizing, but I'd recon that most everyone who eats here has wonderful thoughts of Kriners.

You’ll find typical American cuisine at this diner and few dishes with an Alaskan twist (additions of reindeer sausage or seafood). A family owned business, it comes through in the manual which has lovely side stories about the names of the meals. Huge portion sizes (too big for me) and the coffee does not stop flowing

Usually this place has ok food but our last visit the pancakes were rubbery...so were the scrambled eggs. When asked if a box was needed for the food that has one bite taken out of it and I said no, didnt like it. He didnt ask what was wrong or if he could do anything to fix it. He just took it away and still charged us. Dissapointing! Dont think well be going back there for a while.

We noticed Kriners as we drove out of the city centre and it grabbed my attention as it looked nice. We were thinking of going to a certain well known silver diner nearby but had heard that it was not as good as it used to be. What a delight Kriners turned out to be, a very proudly run family diner that we enjoyed so much. Waiters were interested and chatty, the food was very well cooked indeed, portions just right, generous but not huge. This was a bonus as I had been eyeing up the dessert cabinet. I finally broke my apple pie drought on our trip. So pleased that I did, mind you the chocolate fudge cake looked particularly sinful! Really unique menu format which was appreciated by us both, so much so we returned for a second visit. Really pleased that we did, we will be back should we return to Anchorage
