Here you will be able to see all the opinions of people who are consuming the products of Jens\' Restaurant (Restaurant) near to the state of Alaska.
Nowadays the business receives a rating of 4.6 stars out of 5 and the rating has been calculated on 215 reviews.
As you can see its rating is nearly the highest, and it is founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may think that the score is very credible. If many people have bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to put opinions when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant is classified in the category of Fine dining restaurant.
Great atmosphere, service and food.
Family dinner special occasion there was a lot of us yet great service wonderful meals loved the dish I ordered price is right, I rate it a 5
Halibut Portabello
Great food nice enviroment
A small restaurant with 5 star food and service. A fine dining restaurant in Anchorage with a very good selection of seafood and meat choices, as well as salads, soups and desserts. Lots of parking on site and a highly recommended restaurant.
Awesome place to eat...
Simply the best. Great food, atmosphere, people. There's also a small bar with only about 10 seats.
This is a surprise gem that we came across in our hunt for Beef Wellington. It's location may fool you into thinking you picked the wrong place but never assume. Go in and dine and you'll love it. Mariah, our waitress had that special talent of coming to us when we needed her, was very pleasant, and cared that we were celebrating and did some extra we enjoyed. Chef Nancy, the owner was wonderful in her cooking skills and customer interaction showed the pride you'd hope an owner would display. We will be going back soon!
Consistently excellent food for years. The soups are unsurpassed, the seafood is perfectly cooked, the vegan eggplant "parmesan" is beyond expectation.
Delightful. A birthday tradition.
Pepper steak is to die for, and you can order it for lunch or dinner! It's like cutting into butter and just melts in your mouth! When I want seafood I usually order the halibut. Love the mushrooms and the beurre blanc sauce. Have enjoyed many fashions of scallops, rockfish, salmon and cod with different sauces the chef creates. Absolutely the nicest place for New Year's Eve dinner, including champagne, appetizers, duck black-eyed pea soup and choice of delights such as beef tenderloin topped with shallot butter over cabernet-braised wild mushrooms, king crab crepes or ahi tuna. The dessert is spectacular every year, and always different, but is almost always too beautiful a creation to eat! My favorite was the chocolate martini glass!! And with a complimenting wine and beer list, it truly is my favorite special place for dinner!
Food was definitely above average and worth the price. The service was bad enough that we left after eating our appetizers. It took over 10 mins for our server to take our drink and app order. When we were done with the apps and had stacked our plates to make this very clear, we waited 20 mins before coming to a consensus that we should just leave. Our table included 2 children and a pregnant woman. There were only 2 servers for 16 tables in our seating area. The owner was not interested in hearing my complaint or reason for leaving. In defense of Jens I was dressed like a buffoon in my tuxedo/American flag t-shirt. The food we did eat was very good.
Excellent food, wine and wait staff. Great find!
Amazing service and good food
The host took my jacket off and pulled my chair out for me. So professional and courteous. On top of that the food was fantastic! Perfect date night.
Excellent restaurant; great food; great service; nice wine list. It can get busy, but it's still quiet. This is a good date restaurant.
Excellent! Sauces were amazing. Way better than we expected! Only 5 star rated restaurant I'd actually go back to in Anchorage.
Sad it took us so long to enjoy the amazing food and wonderful service. Peppered steak is delicious.
scallops were awesome, service excellent
the food was ok. the price was outrageous. the service was non-existent. (not worth saying more)
The BEST!!
Great, unique restaurant while shopping at a mall. Very unique experience indeed. Loved the staff and the aesthetics. Simply wonderful!
A little tightly packed, however the food and quality atmosphere was definitely on point.
What a great dinning atmosphere! Friendly yet professional, food was out standing and service was top notch! Family had the Kodiak Scallops and I had the Pepper Steak! They are not lying when they say "World Famous" and the Scallops melted in your mouth!!
As always great service and great food...
The blackened rock fish was good and of decent portion, flavored with herbs, but the white rice was bland. The Wagyu beef looked good and inexpensive at $60 for 2 ounces.
Donde yo trabajo good restaurant
Always a treat.
Excellent place to eat. Very high quality. Space is somewhat small, cozy.
“Nice restaurant with awesome views” This place is really nice....beat expensive but worth it..U go up in tram to restaurant. They have nice food menu, bar & nice desserts. Staff is very nice.
Food was very good but extremely pricey.
Spectacular food and service.
Honestly, this place is my favorite. Go in and try real cuisine in Alaska.
The restaurant location is not so charming, but inside the place looks nice. The decor is a bit old-style and not fancy. The service was a bit slow (they had a big table and were a bit confused) and not so personal (except for one of the waiters). Food was very tasty and goes into home-style cooking (something I could also cook myself), but not really fine dining. The wine list is ok. Overall, a nice restaurant to visit for an uncomplicated meal.
Good service, great food
NEVER been disappointed at this Anchorage landmark bistro! Chef Nancy and her entire bar/wait/kitchen staff are dear old friends after all these years : )

Excellent selection of wine and small plates
We brought a friend for lunch here. Had the beef tenderloin hash, a Danish specialty, and the flourless chocolate cake. Both were very good. The service, however, was over the top excellent. Our server answered all our questions about the menu and was continually checking on us to make sure all was well. Overall, a very nice experience.
The creme brulee is AMAZING..everything was excellent
Great food!
Delicious calamari . This place is kinda hidden in a shopping place , but it’s worth discovering it .
Excellent! Food was extremely tasty. Enjoyed calamari with a cream sauce and capers. Lamb shanks pull off the bone tender, Portuguese Rockfish...literally melted in your mouth, finished with a delightful creme brulle. Wine was excellent in choice and setver was very pleasant and efficient.
Super fresh seafood and great sauces. The meatballs are truly addicting and the staff is friendly.
Fantastic food, amazingly prepared and served by a wonderful and engaging staff.
Great American restaurant for dinner! The best service in Anchorage!!
Food wasn't bad, but overall environment was kinda stuffy. Expensive for what you get Definitely an older more traditional fine dining clientele.
Excelent!!!
Great Food Great Service
Nice atmosphere and friendly service. It's feels like the quiet little place tucked away in the corner. The food was delicious too.
We came here for a team dinner early last Wednesday. We were there by 5:15 PM - Service was prompt and our table was ready. We were 7 of us and we all enjoyed a wide variety of food - all the entrees from seafood to meatloaf's were fresh and great. many of us had beers and they have quite..
Great food & atmosphere!
The best. Everytime.
Service was exceptionally slow and this restaurant is not kid friendly at all.
Food is exquisite, servers are attentive and gracious, and the atmosphere is inviting. The sauces are literally divine, a holy experience in the mouth. We go here for all of our special occasions or celebrations.
First of all I arrived 30 minutes before opening time on Saturday (didn't look at a clock, belly said eat) and the folks said not to worry that they would take care of me. Shortly after setting down the place filled up in no time flat with others thinking like me, mealtime. The service was that of what a restaurant should be and then some, my waiter knew about every item on the menu with great detail. I had Oysters Rockefeller for a starter, and lamb for the main dish.... oh what a treat. The only downside is my belly is smaller then the menu of some of my favorite dishes, which will make Jen's a regular stop for me when traveling thru Anchorage for some time now. Being a good cook myself I must say that this Restaurant passes my pickiness when it comes to a great meal. One may think the food is a bit pricey but for a person that dines out often when traveling, I will have to say it is only a few dollars more, making it money well spent.
Nothing fancy, but good food from a family business with made to order dishes."
Locally owned. Dishes with local products like Alaskan seafood and produce.

The most wonderful dining experience in many years. The food was beyond delicious!

We had a wonderful meal with great service
The calamari is to die for. The entrees (deer and egg plant parm) were good, but overpriced. The key lime pie was amazing!
Best dessert in the USA, their flourless chocolate cake is the best I've had and I'm pretty traveled.
Simply amazing. I LOVE the attention and time they take with each item they prepare for you. Nothing here is boring. The menu is to die for, even if you’re not the adventurous type, you will be so happy you tried something new! I haven’t been disappointed with one little thing here. The atmosphere is cozy yet happy. You feel Like they’ve known you forever when you walk thru the door. It’s worth every penny you spend and a date would be impressed with the experience - as it isn’t “just a meal”. Good wine to top it off. I’m getting hungry thinking about it! Yum!
Great server and service. We enjoyed the food starting with the bread and butter. The soup of the day was delicious as was the salmon and steak. The creme brulee was perfect. The atmosphere is very nice and a good place to chat. Will certainly return.
Jens is awesome and one of the best places to eat in Anchorage!
Great gem of Anchorage! World famous pepper steak, not almost anymore!
One of my top three fine dining establishments in Alaska. A must experience.
Have had dinner here several times. Their eatery has a great philosophy of farm to table and it shows in their selections. The elk was awesome. Highly recommended if it's on the special menu.
“Lunch, Was Okay....” From the Hype, I expected more... I checked the web page online and saw that their pricing was comparable to other restaurants in the area, However, the prices on their in store menu were a lot different than advertised on web. (May be time to update their online menu.) We were early for the lunch crowd, 11:15ish.
Had the pepper steak medium well and it was awesome! Potatoes were absolutely delicious too, and so was the gravy. A little pricey at 47$ but so worth it. The ambience was nice too, and our table for 2 was well decorated and still spacious enough. Courteous staff. They even helped my friend find a place outside to chain her bike to.
Delightful food and a great wine selection. Comfortable vibe in the bar, with relaxing music and a quaint but clean aesthetic. I will be returning.
Was an amazing experience. The food was perfect and we will go back!
Absolutely gorgeous restaurant with excellent service and food!
Everyone in my party had a delicious meal and yes the pepper steak is to die for.
Absolute amazing! I love to come to Jens restaurant, then i was on exchange in Alaska it was the place i felt mostly at home! Thanks to Jens and he's wife for being so kind! :-)
Wonderful restaurant and staff
Great service, love the appetizers!
One of the few fine-dining restaurants where I don't feel as though I've overpaid. The food and wine were excellent, and the servers highly attentive without being invasive. Great place for birthdays or anniversaries, or to impress high-end clientele.
Fine dining but casual is okay attire.
Exceptional food,servive
This is a great place to stay, and conveniently located in Downtown. Close to lots of restaurants, shops (i.e. Walmart, Target, Costco, souvenir shops in downtown), and activities (i.e. museum, zoo, national park public lands, visitor center). It's also a good place to do short (30-40 minutes drive) excursions (i.e. Girdwood, for skiing; Portage Valley Glacier; Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center)....
An elegant worm place with a touch of European influence! The food is unique, fresh and tasty, challenging all your taste buds! Jens'Restaurant is the best place to eat in Anchorage and a must try out place with no excuses!
My husband and I used to go to Jens on special occasions. He died and i didn't go back But then I took a friend there on his 60th birthday. I was glad to have gone while Jens was still around, although he was not there. My friend was astonished at the food, he had never had anything so good. I know I had some kind of duck, so good my mind just shut down. My friend had a scallop dish, his brains fell out. We had a couple of oyster appetizers and I think that calamari that Jens does so well, so tender. My friend is an inveterate gabber - he was almost silenced. And very sad that he had lived here for 30 years and never even heard of Jens....
I've eaten here since it opened the best restaurant in Anchorage!!!!!
Yum yum yum....pleasant atmosphere, good food and wine! Even tho im solo....ill come back again.
Exquisit!
The food was very delicious...
The atmosphere is wonderful, upscale but casual. The food it delicious and authentic. However, the service is incredibly slow. It took an entire 1 1/2 hours for my party to receive our meals during lunch service in a busy but far from capacity dining room. We then waited a full 20 minutes for checks and a further 15 for the checks to be picked up and returned. Dinner...maybe, lunch, not a chance.

Fabulously delicious!
The food was spectacular a d thr waitress was so great and it was overall one of the best experiences here in Anchorage!! Would highly recommend
Love love love the chicken fried steak
Best food in Anchorage
Strip mall fine dining with a Danish twist. Food and service were both good. We came for lunch and most entrees will run you $20-30. Good for a nice birthday lunch.
Mediocre food for an expensive price.
Good food and great service. Try the peppered steak it's to die for.
One of the finest dining restaurants in Anchorage. Jens' Restaurant can be difficult to find, but I think that makes it more desirable. If you're going to dine here for the first time then call and make reservations for dinner. The dinner service is the best first impression of Jens' Restaurant. Lunch at Jens' Restaurant is slow, but I think this is due to the lack of servers. I think there were two servers for the entire restaurant. The food is delicious, so you shouldn't worry about the quality. I would just make sure you have plenty of time for lunch. For dessert you have plenty to choose from, but don't forget the tawny ports. You may not afford a bottle, but you can afford a sip of these very old ports.
Always good. Service, food and wine. One of my few Alaska favorites
I ALWAYS read reviews, so I thought it would only be right to leave one to help others out. Today is my husbands birthday, and this place was NOTHING SHORT of making it special. I am BEYOND picky... but EVERYTHING we had was good. They close the kitchen at 10, we arrived at 9:52, and they STILL allowed us to dine there. That was the first plus( & not once were they snooty or rushing us because of the time) the waiter was super friendly and very attentive. Our food was cooked quickly... another plus, and it wasn't half done. It was still cooked to our liking. I'm usually hard on my reviews, but I give this place 5+ stars. They were pretty pricey, but I didnt expect anything less because, of course, I read the other reviews, lol and I expected it anyway(because I figure it was a "classy" type of place). But I didnt mind because it was for my husband. And I thought the portions were worth the price, it was enough to fill us up. So I was happy about it, over all. We will more than likely return here before we leave alaska and I would recommend it to others as well... Oh yea... and we were there at 11:04(after closing) and the waiter didnt even mind taking our pictures. They made tonight perfect for my husband and I'm happy about it.
Fantastic every time!
Food and service are excellent. Selections are interesting, unique and wonderfully rendered. Anchorage has many wonderful restaurants, but few meet and none exceed Jen's standards of quality and appeal.
Want to spend on pricey food, this is the spot!! The food here definitely has great taste, but it definitley is spendy. Staff is amazingly professional.
Step out into the extraordinary! This place has wonderful sauces, unusual flavor combinations that excite your taste buds and encourage you to step outside you comfort zone. Go ahead... order the Squid. You'll love it!
I used to call Jens the best restaurant in town, however the food and service have gone downhill recently. Tonight the service was incredibly slow, the food was served cold, and the ravioli appetizer was lacking flavor. My husband consistently orders the king salmon, it was served undercooked, when we told the server she responded that it is always served medium rare (this was more rare than that), of the 12 times he has eaten that dish it has never been so undercooked. We were embarrassed about the entire experience since we raved about Jens to our friends and it came up very short. Unfortunately we will not be returning.
Good restaurant
The menu changes frequently, and there is something for everyone. I applaud their daily vegetarian offerings. Our server was professional, understated, didn't ask any inane questions about our day--perfect. The quality of food is uncompromising, but expect to pay for it. The bar area is pleasant, but the dining room is stodgy and decorated in a disturbing great-grandmother pink. The plastic flowers on the table add to the creepiness of the dining room.
The place to eat if you want to excellent food in Anchorage. Their food is truly handcrafted. I love their wild Alaska caught salmon, and it's cooked to perfection each time. Chef Nancy buys the whole fish and may make gravlax or fillets. That's an example Chef Nancy's approach to cuisine. Great wine list. Attentive service.
We have the privilege of eating here every year with a large group, and it is always excellent. The service is great, and the food choices are some of the best in Anchorage. Be sure to get the "smash" appetizer, and the unpronounceable Norwegian dessert. The Key Lime is sublime!
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, excellent service. A great place for a special occasion!
“Nice restaurant with awesome views” This place is really nice....beat expensive but worth it..U go up in tram to restaurant. They have nice food menu, bar & nice desserts. Staff is very nice.
Always fantastic dishes, great atmosphere, and superb service.
Excellent dinner choices, all wild Alaska fish, perfectly prepared. Our waitress Mariah took great care of us for our anniversary celebration. Bellissima!
I ordered the Aussie salad and it was quite good! Highly recommend! Great service with good sized portions.
Great french food
Variety of breads to start. Pork loins were juicy and seasoned perfectly.
I had not been to back to Jen's in a few years and wanted to give it a try. I was visiting Anchorage for my Mother's birthday and wanted to take her out for a special meal, I have been fairly disappointed with the newer, trendy restaurants that get high praise from this website so I thought "How about Jen's." My instinct was correct and what a wonderful experience. The food, wine and service are top notch. They had Wagyu beef on special that evening. It was fantastic.
I am SO settled on this restaurant. I love it. Time after time they achieve excellence while most other restaurants in Anchorage are like going to a food lottery, a service lottery and a stupid-excuse-from-the-manager lottery where I have to sit through the latest cockamamie story from their managers explaining that the fish IS "fresh" you know... it was fresh when it was frozen, or, yes, she has worked in an indoor restaurant before, or mussels aren't supposed to be open, or they're not really drunk, it's just their personalities, or "try them SAVanons, 'cause they're good but they're CHEAP, etc.. The other places are good one time, horrible the next, etc. Our little dining group is slowly working our way through the menu at Jen's and we haven't been disappointed yet by any of our selections. This week I celebrated my birthday at Jen's specifically because of their consistency out of hundreds of restaurants to choose from and again, it was absolutely perfect. The "house" salad is a silly name however when it shows up with numerous types of greens, assorted nuts, cheese, sliced strawberries and a dozen other ingredients. I think "spectacular" salad would be a better name. We had lamb... perfect, Black Cod... perfect, Charcuterie ... perfect, and I have forgotten what the fourth meal was because by the time my dinner arrived I was so excited that I didn't notice anything else until dessert arrived. And again... perfect. I don't know why I put up with some of the other restaurants in town for so many years. I guess that I just really wanted them to be good but they kept letting me down. Jen's is absolutely a treasure and I like every single thing about the restaurant, and not the least of these is that I can actually hear the conversations of the people that I'm dining with. If I could change anything about this restaurant I would move it to a really cute house on a lake, maybe, but then it would probably take me months to get a reservation, so I don't think that I would change even this detail. Life's too short to eat bad food or to be served by an idiot, I'm done abusing myself. In the future I'm going to Jen's or Marx Bros and that's it.
Great food and great service! Each of the staff members treated us as if they were the owners of the restaurant, first class. A must eat place.
Definitely by far the best place to eat in Anchorage and it's not stuffy at all
Over priced mediocre food.
Don't let the strip mall intimidate you. This place serves from-scratch food that is of high quality, beaming with flavor and very creative. You must give Jens' a try. We just moved to Anchorage and are exploring the restaurant scene and boy are we glad we found Jens'. I had the seafood crepe made with high quality melt-in-your mouth seafood and a rich cream sauce with just the right amount of rosemary and sherry. My husband ordered the Cajun style cod served with a house made Cajun dipping sauce that was outstanding. We both started with an excellent creamy mushroom soup and ended our lunch with their from-scratch red berry pudding with cream, very refreshing. You will find the restaurant classy yet casual, white linens, high quality tableware and fresh flowers at each table. Our GPS brought us around the back side of the building so be aware. We can't wait to go back for dinner for their pepper steak and a glass of wine.
Disapointed with lunch. Bowl of soup described as French onion wss borshe the meat was blessed far from fresh. I thought they were a better establishment than that.
Went and had a glass of wine. As per usual, it was super delicious. Love this place. Their food is the best, too.
“Nice for lunch” I visited with a coworker and a customer for a business lunch in December 2016. This is a modest place, but very clean and with a great menu. I greatly enjoyed the curry and my compatriots enjoyed.
Very nice all the way around
Amazing. Truly above first class.
Excelent classic fine dining. Easily one of the best in town.
This restaurant atmosphere is comfortable formal. Be relaxed and have a great meal with wonderful service. What a great, and large wine list. Is it biggest in Anchorage? A full desert menu will finish you off.
I took my girlfriend here for Valentines Day this year and we both loved it!! Everything was spot on. I've never had a steak so good in my life. Nor so well presented. In short, this left a lasting impression on us and we will most certainly come back in the future! Thanks.
This is one of my favorite special places to go for a celebration. The service is amazing and the Filet Mignon is the best I have honestly ever had. And if you are in for a nice night at a wine bar, with music playing at 10 pm, this is a great local spot to enjoy a fun night.
Got mine Togo after taking 2 bites. 2 blocks down I gave it to a homeless man who smelled then threw it in the trash. You can get better food from Long John Silvers. Payed $40 for some fish with squirt sauce on top. Service was good! Went to burger stop down the road. Delicious!!
Great food. Awesome service
Amazing service and food. The first fine dining restaurant to make me feel safe and comfortable. They are kind and warm without pretention.
