I was told about Saturday special of Chicken Fried Steak breakfast, so decided to give it a try. Portion size was very good and quality/taste was excellent. Restaurant was clean and service fast with food being hot. Just so everyone knows the chicken fried steak is not chicken but beef. Different than like at Cracker Barrel where you get chicken breast.

Plenty of food for the price. Service is great and friendly. Food times are pretty quick for breakfast, unless you want multiple waffles. They only have one waffle iron.

Overall I give this restaurant an average rating. The food was pretty good but not to die for I've had better at numerous places in fairbanks. My biggest set back which will keep me from ever going to back to this establishment was the service and the quality. Our server passed by our table numerous times before she even noticed we had just sat down and hadn't been greeted yet. When she finally did approach our table we were given 2 menus when we had 3 people, and were never asked if or what we wanted to drink. I then had to ask someone to come to the table to wipe it off because if was covered in something sticky, normally I would have moved to another table but due to the high volume of customers at the time of our visit it was the only open table. When we finally did get our beverages about 15 minutes later they were extremely watered down and I was brought Sprite when I had asked for Mountain Dew. My girlfriend had asked for sweet tea and ended up having to add many packets of sugar because it wasn't sweet tea at all. Not once during our visit did we have someone come to our table and ask if we needed anything else or how our food was. I had initially thought maybe she was new on the job and gave her the benefit of the doubt but after sitting there realized that she had been there for awhile and knew a lot of the regulars. I'm not sure if this was an isolated event or not but regardless of the volume of the people the service should not decline.

So I came to Hometown because I normally hear good things about. It also happened to be my birthday as well. My friend ordered the western skillet with bacon and I ordered the hot link stuffed hash browns. When the food came out, my friend was missing her bacon and the eggs were soggy. She asked the waitress about it. She said that’s how it normally is. She said she would speak to the manager because my friend didn’t want to pay for that but something else. The waitress came back and she said she didn’t have to pay. All the while I was looking for hot links. She told me I didn’t order hot links. Wait I only eat hot links when I get breakfast!!! We asked to speak to the manager. She came back out and said she was the manager on duty.

Quite a great place for breakfast. Excellent food, large portions, friendly staff... Quite surprising honestly, based on the only criticism of having really outdated appearance which is greatly outweighed by the great things I listed above.

This place is so much nicer than I had expected! The service was top notch here with such a happy and welcoming staff and the chicken fried steak was probably the best i have had in Fairbanks. Not a bad choice for a morning bite or a lunch option if you are in the area!

Food here is great, try the reindeer sausage and you won’t be disappointed. Same goes for the cinnamon pancakes, it’s pretty much my go to. Service, service, service!!! Service is amazing, even if the food wasn’t amazing the service would make up for it. Highly recommend.

The food is simple but the flavors are amazing. Flaky crust and quality ingredients. Go for the sides and you won’t be disappointed. It’s surprisingly filling. The owners are very friendly and engage all of their customers. Great service every time. I love that you can also take food for later. We’ll be back again!

Took my mother here to eat ordered an omelet to share my mom was asked if she wanted ketchup twice and said yes to two people she never got the ketchup. As were eating we noticed that the peppers and onions were uncooked and huge sizes and than I seen 2 small black pieces of hair in the food. Went to pay was asked how my meal was told lady about hair and that she could go look at plate and see she found 5 more pieces in the food with out even looking told the manager and the manage egg s response was not their problem didn't come out any apologies didn't come talk to me at all. I personally will never be going back and hope that no one else has this problem.

Truthfully, They use the best oil to cook with!! I have never tasted the "greasy spoon" sicko type hash browns etc at HOMETOWN!!! I chated with owner years ago...why other restaurants have burnt oil taste on their food. She said it has been our motto to spend extra money and continue to replace oil instead of using the same old oil for extended amounts of time! So there you have it. Food is constantly awesome ...breakfast is our favorite morning or afternoon: Chicken fried steak extra over easy eggs or Denver Omelet or Raindeer sausage omelet too....Besr biscuits and gravy. Hawaiian burger and Ruben are best sandwiches in my husband and my opinion. The BEST COFFEE TOO! We eat there once or twice a week. Awesome servers too. Owners are the best cooks too!

Good service and food was as described. I took a friend there because it is her favorite restaurant. Unfortunately for me, not many vegetarian options. It was $50 for 3 people, but portions are very large! So much I couldn't finish mine... I probably won't go again unless I'm taking her because there aren't many things for a vegetarian, and the prices are a bit high for me. I'd say it's a great place for meat lovers who want big portions!

We enjoy our visits to Hometown Staff is friendly and you always get large portions. Best omelettes in town. My one complaint is they are not only closed on Sunday but close early on Mondays and recently even other days.
