Finally got a chance to stop by and check this place out. Got some good tea and AH-mazing house made fresh donuts. The menu looked really, really good. Don't pass them by without checking it out!

Bill Jamison

Food is great, service (when it’s busy) is not.

Jennifer Hohnstein

Easily the highlight of my trip. The food was absolutely beautiful, the overall feel and atmosphere was welcoming and the staff genuinely just makes you feel good, so obvious that they care about food quality. I really can't find a negative to say about this place.

L Tsy

Make a reservation and expect short wait on orders because they run small operation. Portions and quality is worth the price. Views from the window and deck are priceless!

Jean Mendelsohn

Doughnuts are FANTASTIC and i normally would not eat one

Jane Allred

Adorable, quaint, view of Knik Arm. Food is fabulous! We had breakfast and hands down the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. Great coffee and service!!

Theresa Mueller

Wonderful!

Roberta Stevens

Great food, friendly staff. A little pricey (hence the 4), but unique place in or out of Anchorage.

JJ Cavins

Best donut I’ve ever had. Oh the lunch was good too. Ok bye.

Ellen Sutphin

Such a lovely little place. Incredible food, locally sourced. This is not a place for a "quick bite", because the food is prepared with skill and care from scratch.

Sarah Nash

We went for Sunday brunch, and the food was fabulous. Had the breakfast poutine, the Benedict, and the bacon/eggs. All excellent. The thing that keeps me from rating this place higher is the service. It took us almost 90 minutes to get our food, and there were only two tables ahead of us. The kitchen speed is unbearably slow; perhaps they're having some growing pains? Given this, I would have expected the wait staff to be "on it" with the coffee. Coffee service started out supremely slow, then got better as our wait got longer. The place is also super small, meaning that it got crowded really fast, and people were waiting forever for tables (we didn't have this problem, as we arrived early, but by the time we were done...). Finally, at almost $20 a plate, I wasn't a huge fan of the paper plates and cups. I get it's a small place that may not have room for a dishwasher, but I still would have preferred the real thing. All in all, great food, but I'm going to wait until they have some of the kinks worked out before (hopefully) increasing to 5*.

Randy Law

I had the fresh berry salad and it was amazing. I was also treated to a fresh homemade donut and it just melted in my mouth.

Get the donuts! That’s all you need. I don’t even like donuts but these are fantastic with a delicious glaze. I didn’t really care for the Benedict hollandaise sauce, it was bland. The potatoes are crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth. Beautifully presented with large portions.

T.J. Haas Jr

This is my new favorite place to eat in Alaska the Cesar Salad was even better than marks brothers. The service is a tad slow but it's worth it to eat the amazing food.

Kris Knox

Fantastic fresh food, perfectly charred but not overcooked bacon on my burger. The made to order donuts were great: fluffy with a crisp exterior. Intimate dining setting.

Rebecca Blue

Amazing coffee, food, decor, view, and service. Don't pass up this spot on the Seward highway!!!

This has to be one of the best kept secrets in Anchorage! What an amazing place with the best food! We passed by numerous times never imagining such great cuisine was hidden in this unassuming little place! Definitely on the must visit list from now on!

Came in for lunch and was awestruck by the amazing salad and chowder that had me speechless. Very nice couple, who own and run the business, that even shared what was in the house dressing:

I cannot recommend this hidden gem enough! Farm-to-table approach dining with an Alaskan twist, I’ve enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner there and never been disappointed. Egg white breakfast sandwich with 6 different vegetables and grurye cheese. Kale salad with goat cheese, heirloom tomatoes, and delicious onions. Fresh-baked sourdough toast with homemade blueberry compote. The love is in every bite. Just make sure to save space for their signature sweet biscuit-inspired glazed vanilla donuts.

Jonny Walker

Great Food! cozy place with friendly folks. The biscuits and gravy was some of the best I have had short of my mom's kitchen!

Jeremiah Llewellyn

Many have said it already, and I am adding to the chorus; this place is a diamond in the rough. It is well worth the drive! The breakfast burrito was the best one I have ever had. I can hardly wait to go back for an encore!

Varun Jain

Quaint little place serving gourmet food. Fresh food with unique dishes. Definitely recommend.

Blair Mathews

Every time my husband and I eat here the food exceeds our expectations! We leave satisfied every time; Froth and Forage is definitely in our top 5 favorite restaurants.

Went to this quaint establishment on a weekday morning. Tried their donut and breakfast sandwich. The donut's are so far the best I've had in Alaska. They really got the batter right,, making me reminiscent of Duck Donuts on the East coast. I'd say the breakfast sandwich (biscuit) was decent with the house mayo really the catalyst for flavor. Overall a pleasant experience, prices were reasonable, not cheap but on-par with most higher quality breakfast establishments in Alaska. Definitely a place I'd stop at if I were near the Turnagain Arm. EDIT: Dropping from 5 to 4 stars. Been here a few times was pretty fond of the Breakfast Poutine. However, the other day the poutine I had was different. Instead of the normal caribou gravy with the shredded caribou the gravy tasted like regular gravy you would have with biscuits and gravy (sausage pieces instead of shredded caribou). This had a significant impact on the dish which was also increased to $20. Hopefully this was a fluke, will reevaluate next time I return.

allie rodeheaver

Cute and quaint little place. All local food and beyond worth the drive out. Amazing view and I cannot wait to go back. Drove from Wasilla and I cant wait to go back.

OG northernXposed

Dont pass this place up. The wait is typical for home cooked food and worth the price and taste.

Victoria Daves

Boretide burger was great, doughnuts were amazing, views were gorgeous. However, I rated it with four stars because service is slow. I don't mind that for good food, but my water was only refilled once for an hour plus stay.

Aspen Kenleigh

Some of the best food I have ever had, so down to earth, and completely amazing.

Update after the owner replied(1 star): we cancelled donuts right after we ordered so you lied here. I have never seen a business owner like you, even lie about you giving donut to other table. You made me laugh and showing how naive you are. You are not humble and not welling to accept customer feedback. I didn’t mention you guys were actually pretty rude when serving people. Thanks to your comment that confirmed this.. You( the person who commented) won’t make this business go anywhere. Good luck! Original comment: Everything tastes pretty good. Fair price. I would rate 4 star. However, they miscalculated our bill TWICE and charged more so that is the unfortunate and I have to give a 3 star here.

Tyler Watson

Definitely worth the beautiful drive from Anchorage! I'm not exaggerating when I say they have the BEST donuts I've ever had. And Girdwood beer on tap! New favorite brunch place for sure.

Leisha Nolen

Amazing home cooked food. Wonderful location and people. Highly recommend to anyone who likes food!

Great locally sourced food at a great value!! If you have the time to stop in for a bit to eat it’s well worth it!! There’s a great view of the arm on warm sunny days from the balcony dining area.

Valerie T

Zach and Michelle are great and the food is always super delishish! They are great at accommodating allergies and intolerances too! We stop in or order to pick up any chance we get! Thanks!

Excellent meals! Prices are a bit high but all the ingredients are locally purchased, and the preparation is spot on. Highly recommended.

Kimberley Tehonchuk

Drove all the way from Eagle River and saw couple leaving with take out. Tried thr door and it was locked. Ran back to parking lot and asked couple if they were closing early. They said all tables were reserved. No notice on door and welcome sign was out. No one even responded to our knocking. It was a sunday at 1:40pm. Sign said open until 4pm. The three of us had to drive all the way back to Eagle River. We searched website last night and no mention of it being closed. Could not leave less than one star. Do not drive far for this place or you could be disappointed. Not even a sign on the door. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!

SO good. The farmer literally came in with the fresh vegetables that they use to cook with while we were eating our food! The food tasted well, and you could tell that there was a lot of thought out into how it all went together. My latte was delicious!

Sakura Sano

Allison Wheatley

Delicious and unique. But call ahead to make reservations and check if they are open before heading there. It is a small restaurant and they seem to close whenever they have a catering job or other conflicts.

Sierra Mills

Incredible food! The best farm-to-table place in the state. The owner used to be the chef at the Alyeska resort and now we are so lucky to have this gem in our city.

Sean Williams

This is the most poorly run restaurant, no wonder they are going out of business. I called before leaving Anchorage to make sure they were open, the lady that answered the phone confirmed that they were until 4 o’clock. When I arrived there 30 minutes later, they informed me that it was reservations only. Thanks for letting me know that when I called! Funny they can’t seat 2 people when only 2 tables in the whole restaurant are taken. Good food but terrible management.

Jordan lastnameredacted

Very pleasant coffee shop. Drip coffe was wonderful and the atmosphere warm.

We stopped in for breakfast and were astounded by the quality of the food and service. Fresh, local, delicious! Very accommodating of our two year old as well...espresso drinks saved our lives; great operation here, be sure to stop!

Gene McCabe

I will begin by asserting the food is EXCELLENT! Everything we've eaten there has been superbly cooked, seasoned perfectly and delicious! Alas, we simply cannot tolerate the often exasperating ordeal getting to that joyous moment when food hits the table. The indoor seating is small, very small. In my opinion, groups of more than 4 are a no-go, yet large groups continue to come in to the space. Small space makes for a loud space too. Service is slow. Not just the wait for your cooked to order food, which I can overlook, but just slow in seating (a prominent sign, which is often ignored, says "wait to be seated"... most just took an empty table). We WAITED... about 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us... for our second visit in a row. I wasn't in a big rush, but "crisp" service, it is not. The last time we went we actually had reservations, but by 10am, the place was filling up with lines out the door and folks milling about confused and hungry... those poor folks were at LEAST an hour out from food, if they toughed it out. We had a reservation, arrived a bit early, and still didn't get our check until 55 minutes after we arrived. IMHO, they need another person up in the front, busing, seating, taking orders, etc. I SO wanted to LOVE this place. If I could get my food to go, roll up to the window and have it handed to me, I think I would. But as it is such a small space, and demand is unrelenting, I basically can't put up with it. So, we'll likely not make the nice drive out to Indian to eat there any more.

Rick Benken

Excellent latte and a great breakfast sandwich

Mimi Bourdukofsky

Famber Frost

Looks great, however I'm concerned about the reindeer tacos. Does Santa know about this? I feel someone should inform him. I would hate for kids to stop receiving presents because of his lack of ability to get around. Thank you for your consideration.

Adela Eller

A great place to get your morning coffee on your way to Alyeska

Matthew Cahill

Truly fine food. However, our clothes smelled like fry oil for days.

Zach Schwartz

Best donuts I've ever had. And I eat a lot of donuts. They're working on expanding the kitchen which is good because I saw a lot of people walk away because of the wait. They're missing out. If you can handle the Alaskan weather sit outside, it's worth the views.

Julie Nielsen

Bad service

Mallory Neumann

Showed up 10 minutes before they were supposed to open. Waited until 20 minutes AFTER they were supposed to open, outside in the wind, while employees were inside the entire time. No one came out to say when they would be opening, or offer us shelter inside from the wind. Why?!? We were waiting outside with about 5 other new patrons.

Kevin Cannon

The Food was Outstanding.

Barry Durbrow

Jeremy Landreth

Great local menu and relaxing environment. The food is outstanding and the Boretide burger is so good.

Mama Rora

By far one of the most delicious and delectable places I have ever eaten in Alaska. It's completely worth the drive and the view is breathtaking as well. Never has there been a better combination of talent and location. Also, they bake pears into bread and it is amazing! YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE!

Excellent food. Cozy atmosphere. Definitely need a reservation, but they are also very accommodating. Fresh made doughnuts and coffee are a must have.

G C

Incredible, fresh, mind bendingly good food. Beautiful views of the inlet, kind wait staff. I love this place. Call ahead because they are sometimes busy... But they can also do to go orders of the tables are full. The eggs benedict was what I had last time- bright, lemony and melts in your mouth.

Get the Poutine or the Turkey Leg Confite...

Lizz Stewart

We heard the food was great, decided to stop in without reservations. They had room and we sat. There we continued to sit for 10 minutes before getting a menu, then another 10, for water..1 waitress came by us 3 times with toilet paper, but never acknowledged us or that we hadn't ordered, never said it'll be a moment....after 30 minutes we walked out. In that time, we watched every table asking for their checks, for food that was cleared from their tables before we arrived. Not sure why with 8 tables and 3 different girls there why a simple sorry be with you in a moment, it may take a few moments before I can take your order, anything.... No food is that good. Sorry Frothe & Forage.. I don't usually give poor reviews.

Barry Wynne

Great small place serving well cooked fresh food, definately worth a visit.

Jeremy Nelson

Small dining area, so get here early. Creative and tasty menu items. Focus on locally sourced ingredients when possible. They also have a drive-thru.

cora campbell

I wanted to like this place. The concept is good, but the execution is so flawed. My husband ordered a reindeer sausage breakfast burrito. The waitress brought the burrito with no meat, along with a side of reindeer sausage. She said the cook forgot to include it in the burrito and then couldn't re-wrap it. What? I ordered huevos rancheros. The eggs were so undercooked and the greens were so watery that my plate just turned to inedible, vomitous soup. The waitress just collected my plate as if everything was normal, despite the fact that I hadn't eaten two bites. Pro-tip: if a customer leaves 95% of their entree, maybe ask if everything was okay. Everything is so overpriced that breakfast for two was $50, for one meal where they forgot the meat and one meal that was totally inedible. I won't be back. If I could give zero stars, I would. Totally over hyped.

We stopped in for breakfast and were astounded by the quality of the food and service. Fresh, local, delicious! Very accommodating of our two year old as well...espresso drinks saved our lives; great operation here, be sure to stop!

Excellent latte and a great breakfast sandwich

The Food was Outstanding.

Alex Duerre

Froth & Forage is perfect for an organic and delicious meal. Menu is limited.

Love this place!! The creations of Chef Zach always impress me! Try the artichoke tots!! Simply amazing. Thanks again for a fabulous meal.

Wonderful food and good tea. Great stop on your way back from skiing!

This place is amazing. My Rueben was the best I have ever had. Every bite was so delicious. The owner found out it was my birthday and made me fresh donuts with a candle. As well as lovely experimental soda creation that once again was delicious. This place is amazing the chef is skilled. His saying was “I just cook food that I would like to eat”. And “I don’t do it for the money, I wanna make people happy”. He succeeded with us. Great place best local restaurant right now. Go here.

Probably the best breakfast I've ever eaten. The food is amazing. You can tell the people who work there are truly passionate about what they do.

I used to give 3 stars, I changed it to 1 star because they post very rude response to our review. The food is good, taco is recommended. But their service is so unfriendly and unprofessional, we waited for 10 mins until some staff talked to us, they claimed they are busy but there were 3 empty tables. I ordered donut at first but cancelled minutes after, they are okay to cancel at that time(but the donut shows on the bill and then they say it’s because they’ve already started to make it, then why other food served 15+min later?)

Sallie Rediske

Everything was great! Excellent coffee, breakfast sandwich looked, smelled and tasted great, fresh-made doughnuts were awesome. Service efficient and friendly. Prices very reasonable for quality of items.

Amber Bethe

We had the poutine and it was excellent! Great quality ingredients, good service and will definitely return. My only complaint was the exceedingly poor quality tea and getting charged $6 for it.

My wife and I had driven past this place so many times, but only finally stopped in recently. Froth & Forage has an interesting New American menu, which takes something familiar and makes it fresh. It's a small restaurant, so seating is tight. However, we've never had a problem getting a table, or with other guests. Even in such a small space, there are two unisex bathrooms, which are awesome if you're traveling in a group, especially with multiple little ones with small bladders. The breakfast/brunch prices are much less costly, and provide a really great amount of food. Everything we ordered was delicious and full of complex flavors! The dinner menu is much more expensive, so I'd recommend coming in before then.

You have to make a reservation if you want to eat here on the weekend. The lady there (she was great, very polite) explained that because of the limited seating they require reservations for a table. Which makes no sense to me. I'm not going to wait 45 min to sit at a roadside diner counter or make a reservation for a table there. This feels a little...exclusive for my taste. There were 2 other parties that left when we did; so I think this could be hurting more than helping. I don't see my self ever attempting to eat here again. We actually passed up the drive through to get coffee elsewhere.

Carolyn Layne

I went in to the first time and the entire staff was so rude and unhelpful. multiple just ignored me, once I finally asked for help, the lady was short with me and referred me to an even ruder lady. I ordered the seafood chowder which was good at first but I regretted it for the rest of the day and the next morning. I will never be back, I have no idea how they expect to survive.

Wonderful food, would go every other week if they were closer to Anchorage. But it's a beautiful drive to get there. Food is very very very did I say very....good!!

Derek Ruckel

Food was pretty good, but the service was not. Owner made it right in the end. Make sure you make a reservation and you’ll enjoy your experience.

William Riley

We ate the boretide burger and the forager Benedict, with the donuts to go. By far, the best burger and Benedict we have had to date. The donuts are to die for.

Cat Larrea

We hosted a catered dinner at Froth & Forage for 23 people and had an awesome time! The food was excellent and the venue was perfect for this bunch of Alaskans. We had horsdevores on the deck, dinner inside, and lots of stories and laughs around the firepit afterwards. Thank you Zach!

Rachel B

The food here is really awesome. However, the service was very lacking. It’s sad because the food is so good and yet it’s really hard to get past how poor the service was. It’s not even that the service was slow, it’s that you constantly go unacknowledged for so long you wonder if they completely forgot about you. The inside seating is very small also, I would recommend going in as small of groups as possible. Largest table inside seats 4 and it’ll be hard to find extras to push next to it because it’s so packed with people. It took us over 2 hours to get in and out and we knew what we wanted about two minutes after we sat down. Only go here if you have time to spare and patience to give! But the food itself will not disappoint.

Really good food! Love the little area the kids can roam. There's a little waterfall out back that the kids played near and had fun with. The little donuts we're super good and I liked my breakfast platter a lot. Had these seasoned heirloom colorful potatoes that were very good and the bacon was probably the best I've ever had. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Daniel Wier

Good food and great coffee. Make sure you place a reservation.

Falcon Darkstar

We stopped in here for a quick coffee after a hike and were not disappointed! They have a beautiful view over Turnagain Arm, which you can see in the windows at the bar. The coffee does not disappoint us Seattleites, and besides this they have coconut milk. Incredible art, too!

Sorry it is just not the sort of place for me and my family. Food took 44 minutes. It was not as ordered. We ordered to go and I did not want to drive back to wait another 44 min. I know that many people do like this place, it requires more suffisticaion than I have.
