You will see all the feddbacks of people like you who are purchasing the products of Double Musky Inn (Restaurant) in Alaska.
As of day this business has a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 and that score was based on 675 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings that it reaches is virtually the best one, and it is based on a high number of feddbacks, so we can conclude that the evaluation is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they are happy with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to give feddbacks when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Steak house.
One of my favorites!! It's always a pleasure to eat here, whenever I make it out to Girdwood. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. The wait time is totally worth it :)
All I can say is it's well worth the wait. Outstanding food and attentive staff.
The food is 5 star with large portions that make the price more acceptable. There is a wait as it is packed which is a testament to how incredible the food and atmosphere is here. Worth the drive from Anchorage or anywhere for that matter. No dress code.
Love this place!
The long wait was worth it. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, unbelievable appetizers, and a damn fine steak.
It's just not the same anymore. The pepper corn sauce has changed.
A taste of Louisiana in the heart of Alaska. Now that's something right. The moment you step into the Inn, you are transported to New Orleans. The decor is warm, quirky, delectable.. And if the decor was nice, the food trumped it by a mile. Shrimp etouffe I ordered was outstanding. Definitely a big recommendation. Fresh lobsters, salads, drinks.. All the stuff we ordered were SUPERB. Service was equally good. If in Girdwood or going toward Whittier or Seward from Anchorage, I strongly recommend a pit stop here.
Usually I give 5 at DM. tonight the food delivery was awkward. My friend received her food then the 2 tables received partial of their meals. Then a few minutes later those tables received the rest of their food, while my Granddaughter and I were still waiting with no communication as to why. My friend was done with her food by the time we received our food after we had to flag our server over.
Great food and service! Normally I can drink the water faster than servers can bring it - here, I never had a half full glass!! Waitress was great with her suggestions. HUGE portions! Only gave it four stars because would rather have had half the portion for a slightly lower price. Other than that, great!!
The appetizers were delicious. Unfortunately, my crab stuffed halibut failed to meet expectations. The crab was fine, but the halibut looked snow white as if it had been boiled. There was no seasoning nor any sear to be found. The texture was that of overcooked chicken. If it weren't for the halibut, this would have been a five star review. With that being said, my family enjoyed their entrees, and the restaurant is a really neat spot.
Not as Busy as usual. Customer service is not their priority. Some of the servers seem to have short temperament and little patience & you can see if on their face there non enthusiasm. Makes for a not so friendly environment and makes me reconsider why I drive 40 mins and wait 2 hours for such a service. I was a bit disappointed as was my wife. I think we may take it of the normal list of place we visit each year.
On a weekend getaway, we had to visit that Double Musky based on all we had been told about the food. We were not disappointed, but we were also very strategic in our planning. We arrived around 8:45 pm to avoid the dinner crowd and we ordered their claim to fame meal, the pepper steak. And though we played it safe, we felt clearly able to say everything was great, including the hospitality, wait staff, and food. We'll definitely visit the Double Musky again when staying at the Alyeska Ski Resort.
Only open for business for a few hours. You ad better be early if you want to get a table. Service was decently fast, and very friendly. The steak is phenomenal, melt in your mouth delicious.
Incredible restaurant especially for it being so tucked away! Best prime rib I've ever had, I didn't eat it fast enough so it got a little cold but heated up great the next day! A true pilgrimage for those looking for great food!
Gigantic steaks and good cocktails. Cool decor, very Alaskan place.
Tourist trap... The food is overpriced and tasteless. My steak was very over salted, they have replaced, but new one was unappetizing also .
This place is beyond kitchy, in a Mardi Gras sort of way. Get here well before it opens, to get a table - the locals all love it and happily stand in line for a while to get in. I can't eat mushrooms or spicy food, and found myself eating a couple of fried appetizers just to have enough to eat, but the rest of my party really enjoyed their spicy, mushroom-filled dishes.
My husband and I have gone twice since we're here And both times I was pleasantlySurprised by the preparation of my entree
Decor is really cool, as many others have said. It would be great coming back to this inn & restaurant after a long day of winter adventures. There is often a wait to wait to eat here, but they have a "lounge" where you can enjoy drinks and apps as you wait for a table. They serve large portions of food here -- my friend and I shared an entree and left satisfied. For this price point I was hoping that they'd be more caring about the way they serve vegetables. For $40 half of our plate was lightly seasoned, undercooked broccoli and cauliflower. Finally, our appetizer ($28 for 1/2 lb of king crab) came at the end of the meal and we were charged twice for it. We had ordered it in the lounge, but it didn't come until we were finished with our entree. Our waitress had charged us as if we had ordered it both at the lounge and the dinner table - luckily she was very gracious when I mentioned it and it only took a minute to fix.
Amazing spot. A true gem in the small town of Girdwood. The food is also spectacular.
Was raised in the very close to this restaurant and it's always been my favorite place to eat. the food is absolutely fabulous and the paper steak is the best beef I have ever had. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a high quality meal.
I was there 17 years ago. Not sure if it's still the same? But man I will never forget the meal! Was a great experience.
This was probably the best meal I had while I was here in Alaska. After a long hike to portage glacier and back, we stopped off here due to a recommendation from our friend who was driving us. Be ready to pull some money out of your pockets for this place but it is worth every penny! I got the special which was a 20 oz prime rib with a loaded potato. The fresh mad bread was also amazing and don't forget the homemade desserts! I was blown away, and if I ever make my way back up here again, I definitely will be eating here.
I love this place. Wish the prices are a little lower but the food is amazing.
Excellant meals. Went twice while visiting Alaska.
Great with quick service, and amazing Steaks!
If you are within 300 miles of this place and don't make an effort to go, you are missing out.
Great food, fun atmosphere, really good people
tucked in to this ski/snowboard community, its got the best ambience. the food is really good and the drive from anchorage is full of big mountains, glaciers, rivers, and streams that feed into the bay.
Great food, great service, not cheap
A very special place to try out if you find yourself in the neighborhood.
Pricey for mediocre food, got the peppered steak over cooked was not a fan. Small portions and undercooked veggies and stale bread. Girlfriend thought the place was cute though
Wonderful place to go. Staff was awesome, food was amazing, and facility was cool. So glad we decided to stop for dinner.
Awesome place, food is good, desert is amazing!!
For all the hype on this place we ate there last night. Very disappointed. Dinner was well over $100 for 2 of us, and i had a shrimp plate where the shrimp was overcooked and not de-vained!!!! Gross. Very very disappointed. Never again
Fun, quirky place where you can feel like a local--during the off season.
I am not really a Steak person so I'm not qualified to talk about the merits of their signature pepper crusted steak, but it was GOOD! If you are going, get there early or be prepared to wait. We got there 25-30 minutes before they opened and there was already a line. The Double Musky Pie at the end is a must!!!
Fun place, great bar and and good food. Try the Coconut salmon appetizer. My Musky Mule was good.

Get there early, ideally before it opens. Otherwise, expect a wait. The building doesn't look like much, outside or in, but... Pros: Possibly the best service we have gotten at a restaurant. Ever. Bus-people and wait staff are constantly circulating, ensuring that glasses are filled, food is as expected, empty dishes are removed. They manage to be attentive and unobtrusive, a significant feat in and of itself. The food is freaking amazing. Hubs had the Saturday only Prime Rib special, and said it was in his top five best steaks ever. I ate off the appetizer menu - beer batter halibut (with pecans in the batter) and hot crawfish dip. Amazing. Portions are large - we had leftovers. Dessert was also amazing. Cons: None!
It is a very busy place but the food was average.
Outstanding service, even better food. Always a great pleasure to visit.
Great place for a steak. I love coming to this place when in Anchorage/Kenai. On the last visit, my crab stuffed halibut was a bit dry/overcooked.
It's ok. You should arrive at least a 1/2 hour BEFORE they open and be prepared to stand in line. If you like cajun, spicy, large portions and super crowded you will enjoy. It is eclectic to say the least.
Great Alaskan restaurant, owned by locals. My husband and I share a meal as we like getting two appetizers (amazing!) and a dessert.
Great food! Great atmosphere! Highly recommend a Steak or the Halibut!
Wonderful experience from start to finish. The decor is eclectic and fun. We sat in a corner booth drinking a bottle of wine people watching. The food was a bit pricey but when it came the large portion size didnt disappoint. The scallops as nf shrimp dish was packed with flavor. My date said his pepper corn steak was a beautifully seasoned and a perfect medium rare. We will return! Desert is also a must here!
We go everytime we visit Anchorage. Stood in line in the rain on a Sunday 1/2 hour before it opened. Wine cellar is large and the prime rib is excellent. Go at least once if you are in Alaska!
Get the double musky pie, you won't regret it.
Food was excellent as always, we had a large party that ate there, 19 in our party so they made good money off us. One waitress was extremely rude to one of our tables plus we were rushed with our meals. Very disappointing for the service
The steak was really good but the crab stuffed halibut was dry and very little crab, also an oily flavor, not to mention super expensive
Great food... great atmosphere....crazy decor!!!
Great food and service!
Everything is good, crab legs are to die for even though cheaper at a market or Costco
This place was recommended by our ATV tour guide, and it was one of the best meals of my life!!! A must try if you're in Alaska! Our waiter Jay was awesome!!
Service is excellent. Food is excellent. Been here many times and never have had a bad experience. I strongly recommend the Jacked Up Shrimp appetizer. It's awesome.
Wow! Holy cow. We’re here to hike Denali in a couple of days. This place has everything. Food is perfect, atmosphere is perfect. When we’re back down I bet we come back here to finish the trip.
Food was great service was ok food portions were just enough bread was good but probably will not go back what you get for what you pay is off its been 2 years and still no desire to go back
Totally overrated and overpriced!! Being the only restaurant in Girdwood it's understandable that this place is busy. But, the food is nothing special. I had fish and chips the other day, fish batter was undercooked and the halibut was overcooked, yikes! Have eaten other food there wasn't impressed either. Not going back!
Loud and annoying, but amazing food and service! Bargain priced appetizers. ( Stuffed mushrooms ) included huge jalapeno cheese biscuits. Generous sized steaks. Kitchen and wait staff was accommodating to special requests. If you are like me . . . A good steak does not need gravy, so might order gravy on the side for pepper steak :)
Great food and drink, awesome atmosphere.. definitely can't miss when in town
Incredible food, great decor. LOVE IT!
Great food. Excellent service Steak is always great. Carrot cake is the best in Alaska.
Amazing! Just go already!
Double Musky is one of the busiest places ive been to in my travels but worry not, this place os worth the wait. Great drinks, great appetizers, great portion sizes. Our group ordered the salmon, the filet, and the jumbalaya for entrees and the scallop stuffed mushroom rockafeller, the cajon popcorn and the idaho nachos and every single thing was amazing
I been in Alaska 18 years and finally I made my way to Double Musky. Had dinner there with my family and we loved it. Food was AWESOME!! My kids loved it and can’t wait to go back.
Amazing food! We’ve been here twice and great food each time. The potions are very generous. Eat here!
Excellent service! Jay was our waiter, he as well as the other staff were very attentive. Drink glasses never empty and made sure we were happy. Highly recommended. Get there early as they fill up quickly.
This place is for sure off the beaten path. A relative of ours that lived in Alaska for years said it is the very best anywhere near that area. The place was packed thus we chose to eat at the bar. The bar tender was great and assisted us with what was best liked. Both of our meals were fantastic and no one leaves not full. I would total recommend this place to anyone.
Food is excellent! Tasty and big portions, even for the people who can eat a lot. Not your typical high end appearance of fine dining But is a great small ski town feel. The 'Pepper Steak' is the best. Heads up on wait times because of the popularity. Got there before they open 45 minute (closed on Monday) and another 35 to 40 minute for food (party of 6).
Big portions of good food. Very crowded though. Definitely try the jambalaya
Expensive but worth the detour
Awesome service and food is unbelievable.
By far the best food we had during our visit. Be prepared to to wait, not a good place for but parties, it makes the experience so much better!
What a cool restaurant! Amazing food, as well. So happy they were able to easily accommodate our large group and were such lovely people to dine with. We'll definitely be back, probably more for a quieter, more romantic meal.
Excellent food and service. Large portions. Great atmosphere!
Great local feel, quaint decor, very good appetizers, friendly service
Very interesting place. Food was amazing and staff was great.
Girdwood's fine dining establishment is still true to its roots. Fine food and tons of character. The stuffed halibut is excellent, but save your carbs for the dinner rolls - they are absolutely worth it.
According to our friends this was a must visit place. The food and staff did not disappoint. We waited in line prior to the opening time to make sure we got in without delay. It was worth it. The staff was attentive, accommodating and made us feel like we mattered. We ordered drinks, appetizers and a specialty main course. You can see the food choices in the attached pictures. The Shrimp and Scallop Cardinal was amazing as a main dish. It had the right amount of spice and the ingredients were balanced on the plate so everything was represented well. If you are in the area, this should be a stop on your dining list.
World best steakhouse where I have been !

World best steakhouse where I have been !
Great food! Great Service! Great ambiance!
The most tender chicken and flavorful steak we have ever had. Perfectly cooked without sacrificing any flavor.
Best meal in Alaska! The Marti Gras theme surprised me but the food--amazing! Most entrees are $31 - $45 which is high for my budget, but we would totally do it again and again. It was that good. The portions were Alaska-sized, meaning huge, so you can split a meal and still be full. Word of warning: don't fill up on the delicious jalapeno cheddar rolls before your food comes. The servers are happy to wrap up all the leftovers including rolls to take home. If you don't order their signature Pepper Steak for your entree, get the Pepper Steak Tips appetizer so you can get a taste of the award-winning flavor. Plan ahead to order dessert 'to go' because you don't want to miss the carrot cake or other scrumptious items. One order will feed 4.
This truly is a a one of a kind dinning experience. Cajun cooking and other. Casual dress, upscale dinning. Plenty to look at all types of things on the walls
Fun place to eat. Not too sure if the price matched the quality of food.
They serve very generous portions and the staff was was very attentive. The restaurant has a very Alaskan backcountry feel, and the menu has a lot of Alaskan options.. we had the prime rib, pepper steak and the jambalaya. The prime rib was cooked well, however was missing flavor below the rubbed crust. The pepper steak was also cooked well. The most flavorful dish for us was the jambalaya.
Interesting place with really good food and excellent service. Worth the trip.
Kinda funky place. Some people are crazy for this place. Its good, but I don't get the craze.
really good food!
Was having a wonderful night with my hubby, and then he spilled a glass of red wine all over the table, my food, and ME! The staff didnt skip a beat, took my food away...brought me lots of napkins, brought me a glass of wine, and a new meal! Great food, atmosphere, and service!
Fantastic food!!! Fun times
I loved the atmosphere and the smugness of the place. We saw an episode on a food channel that went to Alaskan venues. So we finally made it there. We are from Ohio and had heard all the rumors and yes, They were right! Great service, staff was very courteous, the food was great! Total satisfaction. We will return!!!
The steaks are great.
Great service and I think everything on the menu looks amazing! Had the pepper steak, very good...
Delicious, pricey
Always fun going there it opens at 5pm but it is wise to get there beforehand. A long line is usually forming by 445pm. Food is very delicious but expensive. Warning they bring out a tray of desserts and if you say yes they just put in on your table (whichever you choose). Very hard to resist
Hated my food. Not many choices for vegetarians. Go somewhere else. Wait staff was excellent though.
It's ok the pie was good, company was good. Steak perfect, seafood over cooked, ran out of Mid rare prime rib, other than that the food was delicious. We're not happy about the disorganization and the food coming out at different times, plus we had to figure out our own separate bills for our party of 10.
Our drinks and appetizers were amazing, especially the scallop mushrooms. And the service was top notch too.
Very natural-feeling atmosphere with lots of wood and low-lighting. Somewhat crowded seating. Loud volume since everyone sits so close. Cluttered decor. Excellent serving staff. Delicious menu items that are fresh. Good dessert and appetizers. Expensive, but high quality experience.
Arrived about 30 minutes before opening and there was already a line. Based on the menu, one might assume this is an upscale restaurant but 99% of the patrons were wearing hiking boots and t-shirts. I would say the pricing in fair based on the quality and portions. Most entrees cost around $30, however the appetizers could also be enjoyed as a main course. The menu is not vegetarian-friendly however it is pescatarian-friendly. The jalapeño cheddar bread starter was a highlight. Also, save room for dessert!
The drinks were phenomenal
Great food and a nice drive
Food and service as good as it's ever been.
Service was fantastic, atmosphere was perfect for a big birthday dinner. All the food (appetizers, meals, and desserts) that all 7 of us got were AMAZING. The only thing better than the food was the drinks. The hot buttered rum was the best I've ever had, and all the other cocktails I tried were delicious and a decent size for the price. Decor was great too!
Good service. Great food. A must when in area. Fun atmosphere.
Loved this place! Super local, awesome experience. Food was spot on and the service was impeccable. Expect a wait time even at 5 pm.... Lovely evening with new friends! Enjoy. Oh and for you wine enthusiast, there wine room is fantastic as the wine list. Enjoy!! Great job Double Musky team!!
Large portions and creative Alaskan dinners make this a great place for your plans. Their water comes from glaciers
Great service... Food and drinks... Thanks for my
Not worth it! Overall, I would say this establishment is way overpriced...Especially to not be consistent with the quality of their meals. The appetizer (shrimp) was bland, but okay. Worth $12? No. Drinks were okay. The bread was good! The entrees, however... My husband ordered the prime filet and it was SO GOOD. But I ordered the pepper steak and it was AWFUL. It was weird because it tasted so lukewarm, tough, and bland despite being covered in sauce. I wanted to like it so bad (especially since I had seen reviews raving about the food) but I just couldn't. I considered sending it back to the kitchen and asking for something else, but at that point I didn't want any other meals if they were going to taste anything like the steak. The dessert was good, but nothing to write home about. The service was great. Our server was wonderful and kind. Too bad the food is just not worth the price or the time it took to drive to the place. In summary, I would honestly just recommend going somewhere else. I've had better meals that cost much less, and I've had meals that cost more and were definitely worth it. This restaurant fell flat.
Bread rolls are very dry & lack flavor. Portions are big but feel the food was sort of bland which was disappointing.
Great Cajun spices but if you want to get a table at the first seating you should show up around 4 o'clock and wait on line. Otherwise you can usually get a table around 6 when the first tables start leaving. If you do a later seating the specials are probably going to be gone though.
Best steak in Alaska best desserts in Alaska my favorite place out of the way but worth it
The best smothered steak I have ever had. Great atmosphere, excellent food
Good but too crowded.
Our stay was very enjoyable! We enjoyed our hike on the, Winner Creek Trail and relaxed in the pool sauna and hot tub!
Long wait but worth every minute of it. Food is always on point!
From a home grown Alaskan this has always been a favorite. Cost is high. Wait time is high. Plan your trip accordingly- avoid holiday season if you would like to get seated in under 2 hrs
Get there a half hour before opening for the most equisite dining experience. It is worth the line. Wait. :)
The staff at the Double Musky are phenomenal. The food is vastly over priced and nowhere as good as the staff. It's sad as I used to enjoy going there but my friends, my family and I have all agreed there are better places to eat.
The atmosphere was great, as was the appetizers, the waiter very friendly and helpful. We chose the pepper encrusted steak, from the suggestion of the food critic. It was disgusting. No wonderful steak should have breading and gravy. I can’t even imagine doing this to a steak. A Nebraska cattle owner.
This is a really cool place with great food. The portions (especially the pepper steak) are huge and extremely tasty. My crab stuffed halibut was excellent. Great friendly service and impressive wine list as well.
Awesome food and service

Little pricey but you get a good quantity of good food. Usually a line at opening.

Great service. Unique ambiance. A must try if you're in the area.
We only had appetizers and desserts in the lounge because the dining area was full by 4:45pm (the 430pm dinner crowd appeared to be bigger than the 6pm set). They were good, but nothing that memorable. Love their cookbook, but I expected more based on their reputation.
This was a very interesting experience. I had heard mixed reviews prior to my trip so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was really good! I wish there was a rating for 4.5 stars because that's what I really wanted to give it. Service was fairly slow (likely because it was pretty crowded), but that's the only knock I really have.
I had a great time at the Double Musky with my family. Big servings of delicious food guarantees you’ll have leftovers to enjoy the next day. Their drinks are strong too - If you’re a fan of cocktails, I recommend the Musky Mule. Keep in mind that you’re paying for quality, and the wait time can be long, even in the winter months which are traditionally the off-season for tourists in Alaska. Yeah, it’s that good.
I was very excited about going to Double Musky, everyone that had been to it had nothing but great things to say. But! I'm sad to say i was very disappointed! Normally I'm not over-critical about food but when I pay $30-$50 a plate and the food is terrible, I have to be straight up. All the seafood was overcooked we paid $197 for overcooked food (3 entrees, 3 appetizers, 1/2 lb of crab legs, and some drinks). The avocado in my and my friend's ceviche was brown i cant believe that was served. I suggest you take your money elsewhere. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because the customer service was pretty good and the free bread was good too.
Wonderful dinner! Try the Shrimp Ettouffe!
The Double Musky is a place everyone tells you that you need to go in Girdwood. It definitely is and the sooner we had was a lot of fun. The problems are huge, especially the pepper steak the size of which could feed a small family. While the food was good it wasn't amazing but the wine and atmosphere made up for the "only pretty good" good. Would definitely come here again and order smaller plates.
This place rocks for steak !! Get it for real. Had a great time what a busy place, service was good, but be prepared to wait a bit. Yummy
Expensive, truck stop quality at best and the place is filthy and dark. We asked to be moved to the "sun room" so we could see to eat! All sorts of dirty 20+ year old "history" hung up that has no real rhyme or reason and hasn't been cleaned in years. It cost over $150 for 3 and we left still hungry, and ultimately very disappointed. No idea why anyone would rave about this place!
FIRST OF ALL, MS. MANAGER, how on earth have you held your job for ANY length of time? 1st rule in customer service: The customer is ALWAYS RIGHT. So what if they have "negative" vibes, and they tell you they will never return. No matter how rude they themselves are, smile and reply positively, that you hope their evening/day gets better. Or just thank them for stopping in. DON'T TELL THEM SOMETHING SNARLY LIKE " THAT'S ALL RIGHT BUY ME, OR THAT WOULD BE FOR THE BEST! You don't know everything that happened prior to this very public display. Do you realize the whole place heard how rude you were? Second, one of our party can not digest meat proteins. Not everyone is a vegetarian by choice. There isn't anything on your menu for her. She asked if she could order a dish without meat. Well yes Dan said, but it would still be $32. He suggested a salad. REALLY? A SALAD? Next, I was invited to your establishment by friends, not knowing of your spicy cuisine. I asked Dan the waiter if I were to order a dish, could the cook go very light on the cayenne pepper. He said they could but that I would enjoy the spicy dish. I DID NOT!!! AND THEY DID NOT REDUCE THE SPICE. I told a young waitress I could not eat it, and to return it to the kitchen. Then you, miss MANAGER came to the table to see what my issue was. Then what did you tell me??? Well we are a cajun restaurant!? What the heck! Yes I discovered that after looking through the menu, and thought I made myself clear to Dan I didn't like spicy food. Yes, you did offer to have it remade without the cayenne. But I would have had to take it to go because the rest of our group was leaving. Then, and I'm sure you'll remember this part. My daughter-in-law jumped you for BREAKING DOWN the bathroom door on her when she had taken my granddaughter to the bathroom. Unbelievable! Breaking the locked door? Because another guest had to potty??? AND YOU TOLD HER YOU HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE TO OTHER PATRONS? Why do you still have a job??? Wouldn't it have been easier on your door and the other guest, to have her use the men's bathroom while you stood guard outside that door? Now, you tell us the restaurant has been in business for over 40 years. Well honey, you didn't build that reputation on your own, and at this rate with your managing skills it shouldn't last many more years. Listen up Mr. Owner. We were a party of 14, if each of us told 10 people of your smug wait staff, horrid manager, and doors that shouldn't have locks because of fire codes, how long will it take before you don't have ANY customers. You can bet your liquor license we'll be telling way more that 10 folks to stay away from your business. Very disgusted from North Dakota
Although my tender $45 pepper steak could have fed three people, it was really was nothing to write home about.
Service is outstanding, and food is delicious! Will go back every time we visit!
Very busy and a long wait in the lounge. SO worth the wait! The prime filet was one of the best steaks I've ever had!
Cozy little restaurant in Girdwood. Service was good as well as the food. We had the king crab legs and crab stuffed hallibut.
It was awesome foods so good amazing service
It's a very attractive place, and informal. Food is good but expensive, as is all of the State. The meat was cooked unevenly-med at one end, med-rare at the other. Also the sauce had begun to set up, not hot, only warm. But a good experience.
Long wait to be seated, crowded, noisy, uncomfortable chairs, overpriced, food is not bad but is overrated. Service is good. Few vegetarian options.
The food was phenomenal! I would highly recommend ANY of it! We were a large company party which allowed me to taste the crab stuffed halibut (delicious) and I had the pepper steak (also delicious and TENDER) You can't go wrong with the food and you definitely won't leave hungry!
Savory food in a fun, quirky setting!
The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is only because it’s pretty hard to get in sometimes. They don’t take reservations and the line is out the door most nights. But this Cajun cuisine is the best I’ve ever had anywhere. And the eclectic atmosphere is comfortable and fun. You’ll never be disappointed here, unless you’re impatient. Lol
Not impressed. Sorry but my food was too salty and the service was not hospitable. I felt like I was just another ticket. The three stars is because I saw locals there that I know and they seemed to enjoy the place.
Plan on a crowd, for a reason, excellent food though a bit noisy
This place was a very nice stop. Steak was pretty good! Although when they packed it to-go they didn’t add any of the pepper sauce that was left, bummer. The seafood Cardinal was good however aside from being perfectly cooked shrimp and scallops they lacked any flavor. A sear on the scallops would have been nice too. I did not care for the crushed tomatoes that tasted like they just added them straight from a can. Bread was always wonderful!
Loved the jalapeño bread, big and soft. First time there and ordered the peppered steak, it was HUGE I could only eat 1/3 of it. Ate another 1/3 the next day and my son finally helped finish it. Staff was very friendly. I love these kinds of eclectic places. The owner of the place went to visit tables and at a group of 6 near us I listened to his story and he's a good story teller and he gave all 6 a free book about his story. We'll be back for sure, want to try the lamb.
Tasty goodness...... get it into you!
One of the best restaurants around but they don't take reservations so get there early or plan on waiting an hour or two. Get the Shrimp and Scallop Cardinal, you won't be disappointed.
One of the best meals I've had in Alaska! The pepper steak was done to perfection and cooked so perfect! The Alaska king crab was killer and as a bonus being pre-split it was so easy to enjoy! The stuffed halibut is so flaky and flavorful it's well worth the market price! We started with the Cajun popcorn and it was well worth it! We didn't end up getting our salads but that was all right because the meal in the service was stellar! Also be sure to enjoy the homemade rolls and butter!
I really wanted to like this place. The decor and environment are great. Unfortunately the servers are very rude and the food was overpriced and mediocre at best. This might suffice as a watering hole for locals but you don't want to eat here. P.S. Don't order the gumbo appetizer. I'm not sure how you screw up gumbo - but they found a way.
Good food. Nice atmosphere
Pepper steak is the best that i have ever eaten. I am going to go eat there again next tuesday.
Out of this world seafood. One of the best steaks in the country!
Come for the decor and stay for the food! Fair warning, this place does NOT take reservations and does NOT split checks. So first come first serve and better keep your parties small if you enjoy having money in your wallet. This is a hole in the wall restaurants that every Alaskan knows about and will most likely make a pilgrimage to at least once in their life. If you're a first time visitor, you'll probably notice the line going out the door, and for good reason. The food and service here is fantastic. People say you can never go wrong with a prime rib, but I say why have something you can get at any steak house when you can get what they are famous for. The peppered steak! Now just because I recommend the steak, don't let it detour you from trying anything else on the menu. It's All good. Don't forget to try dessert while you're there. The Cajun Delight is out of this world. Though with that being said be prepared for a hefty price tag for your meal. For 2 adults, expect to see a $100 or more on the bill. So if you find yourself in Girdwood around dinner, then I highly suggest to swing by and treat yourself to some great food.
Great food, great prices, limited seating mitigated by pre- seating. Often times restaurants neglect their waiting customers, but waiting here is a social meet-up and appetizer experience where you eventually move to scenic tables and delicious food prices moderately compared to its portions. Staff is busy but attentive and polite. Food 5/5, overall experience 4/5 because im impatient. Wouldn't recommend in a hurry, but perfect for a weekend evening meal or special occasion.
It was OK. Great service!
Insanely efficient and talented staff that works like a well oiled machine. Also, the food is incredible and the atmosphere wonderfully quirky. Love this joint.
Intimate but not intimidating. Service and food was top notch. Will be "popping" in more often.
Great service. Unique ambiance. A must try if you're in the area.

The best place i have eaten while in anchorage!! OMG, the appetizers filled me to the point where i saved my main entree for lunch the following day. To add some perspective, i am 6'3 230lbs so i dont eat like a bird...more like a bull!!
