Here you will be able to see all the opinions of real people who have information of the products and services of Chicken Shack (Restaurant) in the state of Alaska.
Now the firm has a rating of 4.0 stars out of 5 and that score was based on 179 reviews.
You may have noticed that it has an average rating is very high, and it's based on a high number of feddbacks, so we can say that the evaluation is very faithful. If many people have bothered to value when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to place opinions when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Chicken restaurant.
I'm sorry, but I had a bad experience. This place does not try very hard - especially at the end of the day. Staff was friendly, prices were reasonable, but the execution was sub-par. I found this place around 7pm after a 10+ hour drive and I was completely let down. Chicken had potential as it tasted good, but was barely warm and soggy. The JoJos (fried potato wedges) were old, cold, and soft. The ravioli was something like you would get out of a can at camp. I kind of want my $10 back.
Friendly staff. Clean facilities, many choices of side dishes, ample parking and great tasting chicken.
Excellent food, had the Shack Burger and it was probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. Tried the "Hot Mess" fries their version of poutine and it was heavenly. Dessert was the bread pudding with bourbon sauce and my son who generally hates bread pudding and pecans ate my entire portion. All in all excellent food and service, will be returning.
Fun and fresh! Love the creative and bright interior. Easy parking behind entrance. Loved the slaw w/ pulled pork too mmmm!
This place was great! The staff was really nice and helpful, the menu is unique and the food was excellent. We'll be back.
Nice place, good portions, most everything deep fried, but do you really go to a chicken shack for healthy food? No, you go there cuz you want good greasy comfort food! It was up for sale earlier this year but you had to move it from the KOA where it was located forever, so if anyone bought it they were buying a lot of blue sky.
So good! Great service! Cool atmosphere! Get the cheese curds.
Great chicken I wish you could dine in but only to go
Its a chicken place. Ok food won't be going back nothing special.
That was the worst chicken I've ever had and the side were bad too. after the new owner took over everything has changed and the price has gone way to high for what you get. Bring back the good food
I've heard about this place through and through, but the food just tastes awful.. I was really disappointed.
Good food service a little slow but nice people
Neat atmosphere, kind staff, and laid back lunch while situating itself perfectly in the fun of Spenard. The Nashville Hot sandwich was just spicy enough, and the waffle chicken sandwich was perfection. Dare say the best chix n waffle take I've had in Anchorage. :)
Great chicken, good baked beans, coslaw of the vinergeret type, not my favorite, good fries and sliced potatoes wedge's.
This first experience was during their opening week. All things considered, it has been a very good opening week meal. Their staff was very welcoming and friendly. Everything was timely and the crew attentive. The interior is modern and, as was shared by the staff, Finnish in design. It creates a clean, well defined atmosphere. The surfaces are fairly hard, so it could get fairly noisy. The menu has a varied selection of offerings that play on the central chicken theme, but there are many non-chicken dishes. This is a new-American take on fried chicken. Southerners may be taken aback to find their chicken is not served on the bone, but this is not a detriment to the bird. The spices and the breading are well balanced and does not mask the quality of the meat. Both the light and dark meat are juicy and tender. One white piece did come out overdone, but the staff was quick to bring a new breast which was fantastic. Their speed and willingness to make the meal a memorable one is noteworthy. Another review in a few weeks might provide a better idea of consistency and service. I am looking to come back for more.
First time dined in and had a good experience and while I felt the prices were a a bit high, the food was pretty good-service was meh. Now the reason for this review is the second experience at the chicken shack: we decided we wanted to order to go and ordered a hamburger with fries and a chicken waffle sandwich with fries. While it was moist and had good texture , my burger was bland and lacked any savory seasoning. Both fry orders were that of “the bottom of the barrel” where it was bits and pieces and not long full cuts of potatoe; something you would see at a McDonald’s but not at a place where you just paid $30 for lunch. Probably won’t go back. There ya go. Take it as you will.
WOW!!! Absolutely D E L I C I O U S !!! Fresh, crisp, perfect ... and the jo-jos were also great!! Nice outdoor patio with umbrellas to eat there if you want. Great surprise!!!
I ordered the smoked chicken sandwich, 14.00 and change. It was so dry "Dehydrated" came to mind with a subtle fishy aftertaste and a leathery texture. I would have notified the server and ordered something different, but the server never returned. In fact, when I was finished, I ultimately walked to the register to pay because the server was I later found out behind and catching up because she was the only one on duty. Anyway...I ate it, but the meat was so dry that I had to deconstruct the sandwich and cut the chicken meat into tiny less than bite size pieces to chew and swallow. So dry, I was glad I had my water jug available so I drink water to help the meat go down, I drank the water in the glass the server initially provided. The only other meat dryer I can compare it to is jerky. If the chicken is smoked locally, I wonder if the smoking facility also does fish? Brioche bun uneventful. Inner-tubed size onion ring, surprisingly fresh cool tomatoe slices, room temperature iceberg lettuce, and transparent slice of room temperature pickle. The side salad is standard issue bagged mixed greens, also at room temp. I'm not sure I'll be back. I don't have a spare 14.00 and change to return and sample a different item and I'm not sure I would take a chance on a second smoked chicken sandwich. I'm a frequent traveler, so usually dine one time restaurants.
I got hired working for the Chicken shack, not only are they sloppy on cleaning up dishes after customers are done but they also brush the dishwasher and don't give enough time to properly maintain equipment for washing. By the way I was the dishwasher there, and to make matters worse my last paycheck I did not even receive, having problems communicating with the manager there and she is never around for customers or employees.
Still Finger Lickin!! Like the fact you can order just two pieces & Jo's
Great food and excellent service!
Delicious fresh fried chicken. And the owner was very friendly.
Great food, nice catering.
Everything I get here is amazing! They have a great brunch, awesome lunch and dinner service, and a killer staff of super friendly folks. 10/10 every time
First time eating here, probably my last. It's got a cool vibe, but the food was not great and very expensive for what it was. I got a fried chicken biscuit sandwich to go, when I opened the box, there was one sad piece of lettuce one little tomato sitting on one of the most overcooked chicken breasts I've ever eaten, all sandwiched between a tiny biscuit that looked like it came from a pilsbury tube, but half as thick. Maybe I'll try again in a bit if they survive, maybe it was an off night. I should have saved the $15 and gotten something from Popeyes or somewhere. Shame, we need more restaurant options in Anchorage, I wish more places would focus on the food instead of interior decorating.
Very military friend. They were super excited to see us come in. One of the best places I have eaten in anchorage so far.
Salad dressings were unusual but nice. Chicken cooked & seasoned well.
The food here is amazing. If you like fried chicken, this place is for you.
Awesome
Just had a horrible experience here! Sat and waited for our food for 50 min and was told our order was never placed and it would be another 15 min after I went to inquire what was taking so long!!! Drinks never refilled and sever was never seen after our order was placed and our appetizers were brought out to us!!! If appetizer was brought to table how was order not placed?!!! Never will go back!
My family went to the Chicken Shack for the first time on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at around 11:30 AM Brunch. Upon walking into the restaurant, we were apathetically greeted by a man who was wearing a long, dirty apron. He looked like he worked in the kitchen. He asked us if we wanted to sit at a booth or a table. We asked for a booth and he begrudgingly went over to one and cleaned if off. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. There were only 2 occupied tables at the time, none of the tables should have been dirty. After we finally sat down, the same man walked over and, without a word, dropped off a couple of menus. He ended up being our server even though he looked like he had been working in the kitchen. After we had time to look at our menus for a few minutes, he came back over and took our order. The food came out about 20 minutes later. My husband, daughter, and myself all ordered the chicken and waffles. We also ordered 2 sides of breakfast potatoes. The portions were comically small. Each order of chicken and waffles came with 1 thin waffle and 1 chicken strip, which was perfect for my daughter (she's 7) but not for 2 adults. The potatoes also came out in very small portions. The food tasted pretty good. The chicken was hot and crispy but the breading immediately fell off. This should not happen with chicken strips. The waffles were okay. My husband didn't really like his but my daughter devoured hers. You can definitely tell that they are homemade. The potatoes were the star of the meal. They were sliced thin and fried to perfection. The only problem was that they were gone after about 4 bites. The same was true for the chicken. 1 chicken strip is just not enough. My husband ended up ordering more chicken because he was still hungry. All-in-all, it was not the worst food experience I've had. This place has the potential to be pretty great. The service needs a lot of improvement. No one should wonder if the person greeting them at the door is a server or works in the kitchen. The portion sizes also need to be revised. I'm not expecting a huge, gut-busting meal. But I shouldn't be leaving hungry either. Honestly, we probably won't be going back. It just wasn't worth the time or money.
Expensive
Best fried chicken in Butte Montana
Had the chicken and waffle sandwich, loved thed honey touch. Fries were perfection. Can't wait to try the other items on the menu.
Passing through from Yellowstone to Glacier and checked into KOA. As weary travelers we were pleasantly surprised to find there was food available on site. I have traveled all over and this is probably one of the best little chicken joints I've visited. Chicken was fresh, crisp, and juicy. We tried the spaghetti and potato salad for the sides and both were delicious. (I've never seen spaghetti as a side before but now wish it was an option more places) Would highly recommend and plan on stopping back by next time we come through the area.
Place was cute, but the food wasn’t that great, and their ranch gave my whole group the runs :(
Best Chicken in Anchorage! And proud military supporters. We do take out thursdays for lunch. New favorite spot.
No longer the best chicken in town. Process have give up but has gone way down. This was the second time the food was soggy and poorly prepared. What happen?
Very good place.
Had my wife call in an order for 12 piece chicken, JoJo's, and a quart of spaghetti. Man-o-Man what a sticker shock I got when I walked in to pick it up and pay for it. $37. You know the old saying, "A fool and his money are soon parted!" I should have just said "No thanks, I'll go somewhere else," but I didn't. I paid the $37 and left, the Chicken wasn't really that good either, but I told my wife as I got into the car that, that was the last time I will ever order anything from the "Chicken Shak", nor step through the doors again. I know there's less expensive places around Butte to get chicken. I'd advise you to check out other places first.
Chicken is killer.
Prices were wrong. Ended up paying almost 3x as much as advertised on website. They messed up the order, even after I questioned it in location. Called in an order for pickup, was told it could be picked up in 20 minutes, showed up 25 minutes later and still had to wait another 10. Pieces of chicken have shrunk in size since my last visit and was definitely not worth what was paid. When I called back on the issue, was told they would fix the messed up order, but not the price. If your going to have an online menu-honor the prices.
I like it. Their smoked chicken sandwich tastes great and comes with the perfect amount of sauce. The white meat tender is great too. I especially enjoy it cause it isn't salty but crispy, which goes great with beer, in my opinion.
Good food and good staff.
Nice ambiance, kind service. But the chicken was horrible. My dark meat was undercooked and the skin was soggy. Told the server and she brought me another piece, and it was not good. The white meat was mostly coating. Honestly, it was the most gentrified fried chicken concept I've ever experienced, and not a well executed one at that. Way way overpriced, too. I'll stick with Lucky Wishbone where the food is consistently on point.
I'm sorry, but half the size and twice the price, NO THANKS! First time back since new owners... was as BAD as everyone said. Maybe it was the tail end of dinner rush, but show some pride! Ordered ahead driving back home, arrived around 7:00 p.m., and was extremely disappointed. Chicken was badly overcooked, dry as a bone and about the size of a pigeon...jo-jos where stale, too, tasted like soggy old 'tater chips. Will not go back
I've been here a couple times now and will definitely keep coming back. The Hot Mess, (fries, gravy and cheese) is just great. Their breakfast potatoes are spot on, just the right amount of onion. I think brunch is only on the weekends. Worth the stop though. Anyone who can produce great over easy eggs gets a second look from me. Their gravy is also very on point. It's a nice, clean and friendly place.
Great Chicken
I love eating here very good chicken.
Always a good idea for a Gift Card for someone, too!
Good chicken and really good cheese curds with ranch. The chicken was cooked perfectly, nice and juicy. Good seasoning the hot sauce on it put it over the top. The downside was the breading fell off a bit to easily. Still tasted good. The bacon smores was good, but could have been great. Bacon was to chewy and not enough chocolate.
The overall experience here was pretty good, obviously going for a hip and trendy atmosphere that you’d find around other places in the PNW. I ordered fried chicken and mashed potatoes. The white meat was relatively dry and the dark meat …
Convenient to the campground.
Delicious food but a bit slow
One out of four isn’t bad. That was the single plate that had just came out of the dishwasher without a small lake on it. Happily delivered with a smile and light hearted apology. On the bright side we had lots of extra napkins to dry them ourselves. The service was awful, our table and an adjoining table where left unattended for an extended period of time before our order was taken . The food was decent but no better than any other midtown restaurant. After all the drama I honestly would have been happier with a well prepared MC Chicken.
Love this place! Grilled chicken sandwich is the best! Great service by T. Tebo today!! Waffle sandwich also at the top of our list. Great prices and atmosphere as well! Highly recommend!
Good food in timely manner...good service
The chicken is amazing and everything tastes fresh.
Good food
The service was terrible. In the hour and 20 minutes we waited for our food, the serving staff ignored us. The side dishes were good, but the main menu item, the fried chicken was sub par.
Waited 45 minutes for our order. White meat chicken - menu should say "chicken finger" . Dark meat was burnt, and coincidentally the flour coating wasn't fully cooked in places. Mashed potatoes came out less than heat lamp cold. Their version of poutine came out heavily salted. The chicken and waffle sandwich was a processed cutlut, a bit out of sorts for a chicken themed restaurant. There was more dissatisfaction, but I think you have been warned successfully.
Outstanding Hot Tennessee chicken sandwich. It's not an immediate spice but has a very respectable slow burn. I've seen a couple negative comments on here about the service but I've always found it to be above average. The review below where that person waited for chicken for 1hr20mins..that's on them. Picture is of the Hot Tenessee Chicken Sandwich
Havent been here since new owners.
Try the halibut it's awesome!!!!!
Awesome Place! I love it! Great food n great place.
Best chicken n baked beans in town, halibut is a lil pricey but well worth the cost! 4 piece leaves leftover from us two nice chunks of fish and oh those JoJos ate great . Take out is great if you call ahead no wait !
Great food
Wow. The food was delicious especially the House Slaw. The chicken pieces were massive but fantastic. Service was very good and food was ready very quickly. Must go home and take nap now.
Kale salad with grilled chicken is so delicious! Large portion, enough for lunch the next day. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean and comfortable.
The chicken was great. Came on a recent visit. Soooo good.
Brunch Saturday and Sunday from 11-2. Creative omelettes and Benedicts as well as traditional brunch fare (Coffee, Oatmeal, Mimosas and Shandys.) Great waffles for fruit lovers (Bananas Foster, Cherry Jubilee and Blueberry.) Hot Mess Morning (breakfast potatoes, baked cheese curds, country gravy and poached eggs.) Try Chicken Fried Steak. I love eating at the Chicken Shack in Anchorage, Alaska. The business owner is Chef. Chef works very hard cooking the food everyone's appetite desires. When I eat a meal @ #AKchickenShack I feel fulfilled and satisfied with the flavor and the portions. I enjoy many of the sides multiple days every week. I recommend the Hot Mess and the House Slaw along with cheese curds and a Full Shack FRIED CHICKEN (4 pieces, 2 dark + 2 white) The fried chicken is juicy, a little crispy, and very tender. Deboned thighs, drumsticks and chicken breast strips 3 pieces and a side for $15.75 #Anchorage #Alaska #Spenard #AnchorageFood #AlaskaFood #Anchorage2019 #Alaska2019
Good food
Tasty . I'd go back again.
Service is great, and the sandwhiches are tasty, but the chicken combos are absurd. $34 for an 8 piece and two sides is ridiculous. It's fried chicken guys, not Peking duck.
I don't like to do negative reviews but... Wow. When I called the girl was so rude that when I came in I didn't even tip them. They hid behind the sectional there for some time ignoring before finally asking "what do you want?" Finally got my order and signed my reciept and added no too because the service. Got home and the chicken totally reeked and tasted like fish. I dont mind fish but its not what I want my chicken to taste like. The jo jos even though I called in the order and expected them to be fresh..were not they were chewy and found a hair in the box. The only good things were the pre prepared rolls. I had to go back in 3 times to get my money back after telling me it didn't charge I went online to find out not only did it charge me the girl decided to give herself a 20% tip. So after 5 miles round trip 3 times, the rudeness , the quality and the random tipping of themselves finally got my money back very angry annoyed and still hungry. Don't even bother. This was my first and last visit to the place. (Which is sad because I was in a good mood and going to tip $20 on my 19.50 bill to be nice) all in all. Avoid this establishment .
Don't waste your time. Service was great but food not so good.
Very good
My wife and I had the small mess fries, the chicken and waffle and smoked chicken sandwich. Service was excellent, food was delicious, prices were great. I hope prices remain as they are because my wife and I love this place.
We tried the hot mess (poutine) and crispy chicken sandwiches. It was all delicious! Clean, modern location. Pleasant and helpful service. Great place - we will be back!
Delicious. I'm glad there open early. Love there food. Thank you
Looks like someone figured out the colonels secret recipe. My favorite fried chicken in town.
Excellent
I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich to go. It was terrible. They get two stars because the hot mess (poutine) was ok. The sandwich had a dry gritty paste like rub of spices on it that was almost bitter. And on top of that the meat was pretty dry. Unlikely I'll be back. I can find a dozen sandwiches in Anchorage I'd rather pay $13 for.
My second time here. First was during lunch and no issues. Second time was a complete disaster. In short, our waitress completely forgot about us, we tried to wave her down, eventually she came around made a lame excuse that our meals were more complex and take more time. I ordered a salad and my fiance a sandwich. We waited for about an hour for our food, she never re-filled our drinks, including water. The food was tasty, but we could tell that it was very quickly put together. Both of our "crispy" chicken was soggy. The manager comped our drinks. We appreciated that and thought we'd give this new place another try, that was until both of shortly after getting home got horribly sick. We really wanted to make this place a part of one our usuals, but the stomach problems turned us away.
Second visit. Food is great. We got the same booth as the first visit, which was nice. Different server. Service for us was great. No issues. Drinks and food were both quick. Atmosphere is nice, a little muted, but appropriate for the clientele. Likely to change as they do. I really like the no frills decor, it feels homey yet contemporary without being too simple. Selection of food is really good. The fried chicken meals are really good, cooked perfectly. The smoked chicken was good, a little dry, but incredibly flavorful. Salads are fresh and delicious. Sides have all been rather tasty as well. If you have not visited, its worth a visit.
Awesome ribs. True comfort food. Going home full.
Just moved to Alaska wanted some good fried chicken figured we would give the chicken shack a try disregarding their unusually high prices for fried chicken ordered carry out as we have a couple dogs in a rental when we walked in the place looked nice smelled good but there was not a soul in there that was a little concerning then the host could not figure out how to work the computer took a good ten min just to place an order anyway our order came out in a timely manner walked back to the apartment started to dig in and it was kinda comical how small the portions were considering the high prices the mashed potatoes were unique that’s for sure and the chicken was not cooked evenly we had pieces that were cooked fine and pieces that were almost black lol their grass feed burger is very small the bun is a nice size but the patty was comicaly small the fries would have been good if they weren’t from the pile of fries that they already had cooked when we walked in fries don’t take that long to cook make them to order your not McDonald’s cheese curds were ok anyway if you want fried chicken go to Fred Meyer way better price and quality I don’t think the chicken shack will make its two year anniversary lol
Delicious. Fried cheese curds - need I say more? The chicken is good! Waffles and biscuits are good. All around enjoyable. The ONLY thing missing off the menu was a homemade lemonade.
Excellent food! Excellent service!
Food was awesome, however, they are very under staffed which made it a not so pleasant experience. Jimmy was our server and our meals came with eggs. We asked him several times for them and then he finally brought them at the very end of the meal which was pointless and then proceeded to charge us extra for them. Very confusing. Their stuff probably just needs more training.
Mostly batter.did not finish.
The food is nowhere near what it use to be. The prices are too high for what you get.
Anchorage has 3 truly great restaurants. This is one of them. Everything here is amazing, but you cannot leave without having the ice cream.
Has 4 piece meal I’m not much of a dark meat kind of guy to me was flavorless I hope You can offer 2 piece white chicken meals in future
Comfort food at its finest!! Some of the best chicken I have ever had. Great service, great ambiance. Will eat there again on my next trip.
dude the service was like, 3 minute wait and I got my food. Like waaaaaaaaaaa
Had a mini meal to go, it smelled so good had to eat it in the car! Fried cheese curds are SO GOOD and they look real cute too. Fried chicken breast was tender, the coating was delicate and delicious, and it wasnt overly greasy. Almost immediately went back in for a full meal, but I'll hold off till next week and I'm bringing my own bucket to fill!
Great! While in Anchorage you must stop by the chicken shack. From the house IPA to the chicken, to the burger=heaven!
The staff was polite, was the wait time and quality of the food, on top of being told after near half an hour of waiting “there will be a 10 minute delay cause the chicken was burnt”. And then the food that was actually served and expected to be eaten and paid for, the initial receiving of our order that I refused to accept stating “Im not sure I can eat that it looks pretty burnt” it was taken back into the kitchen by the waiter and brought back saying the oil was “overused and, just done”. And places this portion of food back in front of me as if I would eat it. Keeping in mind all 3 half shacks we ordered were burnt, It would have been much more polite to say we have to change the oil we apologize for the inconvienience, My family and decided not to eat the burnt food and we left, we wasted an hour and got some free sodas and an apology...
Well I guess I get to be the second review, because I just dont agree that this place should get only 4 stars. This place is amazing. The food is amazing. The service was attentive but not overbearing. As a overly critical bartender myself, I think the service was amazing. So excited to see it thrive.
Excellent customer service, good food, and cool atmosphere!
Great food
Good food, friendly staff. The salads are really good and the waffles are great.
Absolutely love this place!!
My reason behind giving one star the food decent. But not how this person runs a resturant this person has taught me a lot in a kitchen what I am greatful for. This person decide to text people saying that if you are not on the schedule you have been let go. Which is beyond annoying. So I am not sorry they have lost my business. Even when I work so hard to get where I am. I don't appreciate how it went down. Learn how to let people go the right way instead of text.
Place looks great, service was fast friendly. Food seems very hand crafted like they took there time great tasty food. Tennessee chicken was amazing
Just a month open now...this new addition to the Anchorage scene is rocking some great food. While still fine tuning their flow, they are already fabulous!
Good
I can't wait to go back! Adorably rustic-chic interior, incredibly friendly front-of-house staff, talented back-of-house staff, quality ingredients, tasty meals, culminating to a most enjoyable dining experience.
First time checking it out. Fun environment, good, filling comfort food.
We've been here three times since it opened two months ago. Chicken Shack knows its chicken and it has the best fried chicken in town. Some people have told me they make it better than Lucky Wishbone and I agree! The chicken is fried to a golden crisp but the meat is still so tender and juicy. Perfectly seasoned, too. Others have reviewed the chicken as bland. Not at all! You won’t even need ketchup or gravy. It pairs well with the slaw or the side salad with coconut cardamom dressing (my favorite!). The sandwiches, salads and sides are also worth a try. Spicy Tennessee is my husband's favorite sandwich. The Chicken and a Waffle sandwich is great, too. Of the sides, the fried curds, mashed potato and slaw are the best! Haven't tried the desserts but they got me at Fair-style Mini Dougnuts!!! Highly recommended!
The service was great
Great place, only issue was dry chicken sandwich.
The popcorn chicken is good
This was my first visit. Brought my wife and kids. Service was fast. They brought activities for my kids. The food? Epic. Very creative. Fresh ingredients. Excellent flavor combinations on classics. I had the waffles and chicken. Good stuff. I liked the design motif of the restaurant. Very original. Good beer selection. I will return. #HeartofSpenard
Amazing! Had the fried chicken, hot wings, and biscuit. All tasty and will be back. If you havent tried this place, you definitely need to. Service was timely and responsive.
Best tasting okra around albeit small pieces. Chicken is unique.
I was not impressed with this place at all. The breading on the chicken was so thick it didn't stick to the chicken at all. The chicken was also the huge, on roids kind. There wasn't even really seasoning going on with it either. I'm not sure if I'm missing something or what. Best thing I had there was the ceasar salad. The cheese curds were okay. Wouldn't order again. Since this place is semi new maybe they need some time to perfect their recipes.
Best tasting chicken we have ever had!! No other restaurant comes close to chicken perfection as the chicken shack does!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's always hot and tasty :)
We always have loved this place, and during summer time would buy large amounts for our family get togethers. Decided we wanted it for dinner tonight and was told $40 for 16 piece and order of jojos. No other sides. Due to the EXTREME price increase, we will not be returning. I was afraid to ask how much the halibut is now. UPDATE: 20 pc with Jojos and 2 orders of hot wings from Freeway for only $34. Great deal and so good.
The food is delicious! Chicken is crispy, moist, tender and not greasy. Atmosphere is pleasant! Service is excellent! The pecan pie bread pudding is amazing!! Love it!
Had the chicken shack tonight for the first time in a long time... last time I posted review, I said food was cold.... tonight, everything was perfect!!!!!
One of my most favorite restaurants! Led by one of Alaska's best chefs. She knows chicken, and has inventive ways to bring it forward. Friendly and knowledgeable servers. A local gem!
Better than KFC, you gotta try this place, you'll understand
Really enjoyed our visit went the FOOD! So good and everyone was very nice. Great service, seats are a little uncomfortable even in a booth but, it's CLEAN! Great prices and I really recommend the Chicken and Waffles sandwich. The chicken bacon and honey plus crunchy waffle made my day!
Great food. Want more!
I’m just really confused about this whole situation to be honest. My wife stopped by to pick up dinner on her way home from work. After an hour after getting off the with her because she was walking in I call because we live maybe 10 minutes away. She tells me they had to remake her salad 4 times so she’ll be home whenever they figure it out (new restaurant I get it but a spinach salad takes 4 tries??). She gets home and the salad is missing the bleu cheese which is a key component. The chicken biscuit sandwich also made me laugh because it looked as though someone punched the sandwich in frustration after I picked it up. The front staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful from what my wife said. The manager also gave her the salad free which was nice. I’m really excited to try the place again when maybe they get new kitchen staff or find an expediter with eyes because the biscuit and the chicken were actually pretty good. If the owner sees this I plan to take this review down or edit it when I try the place again in a month or two. Otherwise, very confusing experience.
It took 40 minutes for a pork chop.
Awesome food and service. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious.
Good, needes more time to prepare. Tasted a little like the grill. Metal after taste. Marinate better
Excellent chicken. Tasty coating. Moist and perfectly cooked. Pie was excellent also. I recommend it.
I have driven across town for their fries and curds twice now....SO good!
Very friendly and nice staff, best Chicken Jojo patatoes and potatoe salad i have had in Montana hands down! Abd the rolls were exveptional to! Recomend this place for chicken!
I got the chicken and waffles and it was amazing! Excellent staff! Ask for their spicy Tennessee sauce with some ketchup, it’s killer!
Excellent chicken
This place is great. Good service and great food. Try it!
Great chicken
Best chicken in town
Delicious delicious!! I had the pulled pork and it was scrumptious. My sister and brother-in-law had the Chicken and waffles sandwiches, they said they were fantastic!! Don't miss this gem, Anchorage!!
Love the options, and their half shack is super good value, in my opinion. The popcorn chicken with Korean Sauce, fried Okra, and fried cheese curds are phenomenal. Delicious!
Disappointed. Not really any flavor and no sauce for the ribs.
Love this place! Food is always delicious, staff is nice. Especially love the arugula salad and cole slaw!
Priced way to high. No flavor in the chicken. Great attitudes, very kind folks, but if flavor is what you’re going for you won’t find it there.
The food was really good but it was also a little on the pricey side the young lady that greeted us took great care of us
I ordered the poutine, what they call the Hot Mess, and chicken strips. Everything was amazing. It was the best fried chicken I've ever had.
Chicken tasted like it been cooked in fish oil
Place is very cute & modern. Food is excellent.
Because of JD
What can I say. I love there chicken and baked beans.
It's a nice restaurant and the staff is really friendly. I bought the waffle chicken sandwich and the first couple bites were ok. Beyond that the batter on the chicken was soggy and had no texture. It definitely wasn't worth the high price they are charging. Also, I ordered out and asked for ranch dressing to dip my fries in, opened the box and that wasn't there. I know new restaurants go through growing pains and I hope this is just that. It'll probably be a while before I return.
Lets start with the positive. The staff were friendly, understanding, and the service was quick (too quick). Atmosphere is definitely clean and has that hipster vibe (doesnt fancy my boat, but its better than standing up and eating on the …
Chicken, raviolis & spaghetti at the Chicken Shack is worth driving 100 miles to get. Set in a picturesque campground, the Chicken Shack is the best picnic sans the ants!
Such a wonderful experience, my waitresses name was Rachel and what a great experience I tell you. Always checking up to make sure we didn't need anything while also being so kind and charismatic will definitely go again just because of her.
First time, togo order, good food and services forgot my sauce for peppers but still great food
I was very disappointed by my meal. I had a waffle chicken sandwich. We were one of two couples there, and the waitress let us know that the waffles aren't cooked fresh, they're re-heated. If this place's staples are chicken and waffles, why can't the waffles be cooked fresh? They were cold and soggy, and so was my chicken.
Place is beautiful inside with friendly staff. The hot mess poutine fries were phenomenal. Gonna be heading back soon.
This is the best restaurant in town! I highly recommend this place.
Great service they delivered right to my car.
Fish and chips time.....
Well, it was the first time there. So this review is incomplete. I thought the half shack order had an onion or garlic taste that didn't please my palate. The wife thought her half shack was good. So one for and one against. My father had the ribs and he thought they were okay. The portions were good and no one left hungry. We paid about $55 for our meal which I thought was a little steep for ribs, chicken, and fries. They seemed to have quite a bit of variety for their menu and all I need to do is find something that I like and place a few more stars up top. Wait time for 7pm was a little slow so make sure you give yourself some time to enjoy your meal.
Chicken was over cooked .we thru it out.
This place is still new and close to my work, so I am going to try it again, but the first time it was not special. We got the hot mess which was probably my favorite part. Then the four piece chicken with waffles and okra as sides. The chicken was decent but I wasn't really expecting chicken strips when it said fried chicken. Everything was decently salted except the okra, it was totally bland. Also the only hot sauce they had was tobasco. What is up with this town's prejudice against hot sauce? I'm going to learn from Beyoncé and have hot sauce in my bag. The waffles were good, I think cinnamon flavored is unnecessary though. Real maple syrup which was a pleasant surprise. Now just work on the rest of the condiments! We'll see how it is on the second try, but it's not high on my list of musts.
This place has excellent potential. The style of the building and the menu choices were modern and fun. We had a negative experience our first visit, The host was high strung and stressed everybody out, we were seated but no one was assigned to our table until we requested it, which took over 20 minutes, the honey butter was completely rotten, and the wilted greens had a questionable sour smell also. When we got my sandwich to go, it was toppled over and stuffed in the box sideways. A couple of other little things, but for the most part they were trying to make it right with us. I would highly recommend the fried cheese curds and the spicy chicken waffle sandwich was also delicious. I will be returning!
The staff at the chicken shack were wonderful, courteous and friendly and made sure we never ran out of drinks. Nice clean environment and the food came in fresh and tasty on a 80 degree day and cooked in a timely manner. Great service!
Place has best chicken in town. If your from the south you'll know this place beats the wish place hands down. The cheese curds with the amazing ranch is out of this world. Service was great, timely and not overbearing like most places in town. So many nice things about this place. Just go and try for yourself.
The Chicken Shack has some of the best fried chicken and Jo's in Butte. The other sides- potato salad, macaroni salad, etc.- are mediocre at best. They offer a variety of easy-to-order options to meet any order size, and they seem prepared to meet bulk requests. There's some seating available on benches outside, but we always plan on getting Chicken Shack to go. Great place to grab some chicken, Jo's, and a six-pack before or after a day on the river!
A delicious experience. Chicken Shack has a wonderful, modern interior. Everyone was very friendly. Service was fast. We had the half shack with mashed potatoes and the "hot mess" (which is essentially poutine). Definitely coming back! Protip: See if you can figure out their connection to Slavic folklore!
The new owners are back to the original recipes and the way of doing fried chicken as when the Steelers owned Chicken Shack years ago!! Fresh chicken and fried just right
Service was great, food was even better. Very pleased with this place. Atmosphere and interior were excellent. They even have beer! Will be back for sure.
Amazing chicken & waffles dish. Best chicken I've had in Alaska!
More like fast food than restaurant quality. Chicken breading on chicken fingers does not enhance chicken. The mashed potatoes taste like from a mix.
eh, service was alright. the food was alright. I did not get the fried chicken and I think that may have been my problem. Tennessee chicken is whack. buffalo chicken was good. I'll go back to get the right thing.
Update: Changed review to 5 Stars. Came back the very next day for a second try. This time around I got some waffles and chicken fried steak. The friend steak was considerably smaller than what other restaurants might serve you, but that's not a bad thing. It was still delicious and the country gravy was amazing. The waffles were very tasty too and can pretty much compliment everything savory on the menu. Service was definitely more attentive and I had no complaints on the end. Overall a great experience and will be returning. Note: As I type this, I have some brunch dishes being delivered via doordash. Another update will be coming later. TL;DR Great food, clean facilities, slightly slow service Was with a party of three and we all ordered the special. The shack burger was a "100% grass fed patty," lettuce, onions, cheese, a cucumber slice, bacon, and a chicken tender covered in Korean gochujang (a red chili sauce that is sweet, spicy, and savory) sauce. Hands amazing and should be moved to the main menu. As a side, I have friend cheese curds. Those we're good, but I was still distracted by the amazing flavors from the burger. The facility has both booths and table seating. Everything was aesthetically pleasing and modern my interior design standards. The bathrooms are shared among other tenants in the building, but they were still clean and stocked. The only complaint I had was the slowish service. What I presume was the owner, was the only person waiting on and seating customers. Each table had a glass bottle of water that everyone could fill their cups with, but it was hard to wave the man down to get a new one. I would recommend asking for two bottles if you drink lots of water.
Food Not very good..over priced for the KOA
Service is always good and the fried chicken is fantastic.
Great chicken great menu great variety Will return!!!!
This is the best tasting chicken I have had in a long time! The restaurant is very well designed with a modern feel with light wood accents, it is a great place to grab lunch or dinner.
Venue is modern and sleek. Staff attentive and friendly. It was nice seeing who I assume is the owner or manager walk around and interact with guest. Menu has a variety of chick options. Their chicken is cooked perfectly. I ordered the biscuit sandwich, poutine and the chicken blt. All items ordered were fresh, flavorful, delicious, and wonderfully plated. Ate here twice during opening week. Definitely needed so chicken variety in Alaska.
I have been here many times now and every time the food is excellent! If you can eat dairy try the cheese curds, they are without a doubt the best in town. Between me, my husband and the multitude of people we've brought with us we've tried just about every item on the menu and everything it delicious. I just learned the owner/head chef (same person) is a woman which makes me love it even more. I'll be moving out of Alaska soon and I know I will be missing this place for years to come.
Lot of people order from there then it's pretty good and you always get spaghetti and of course it's a side if you wish but yeah I don't know it's a good place kind of spendy but if you're feeding a lot of people it's always a good thing
This place is new, therefore there will be some bumps. However, I ordered the smoked chicken sandwich, which was brought to the table, hot fresh and delicious. Would recommend it here, as everything is made on house. From the chicken to the dressings! Thank you guys!
