Fun and friendly. I got to watch and cheer for "my" team with friendly banter from other patrons. The food was good and the service was top notch. I didn't have a drink but my date did. He had a complaint about his drink and they made it right and did so with a smile.

We ordered ahead by phone but they messed up the order. When we were taken to a table to await the correct pizza, they then told us that ordering ahead means we're not entitled to a table -- those are reserved for people who order from wait staff... We gave up our table only to be informed we would need to stand and wait for the new pizza and, by the way they expected us to pay for both! We paid for and walked out with a pizza we didn't order. Really weird way to run a restaurant. The pizza was alright, but I wouldn't go back.

During the day is seat yourself. Tried 3 tables before we found one that didn’t have food on the table and/or seats. The one we settled on had onions and French fries under the table. Took two tries to get ice for my water. Order to go.. the food isn’t bad, but the place is disgusting.

Party of 3 including a 2 year old. Waited a few minutes for service staff to notice us to be seated. Barely anyone in the restaurant, yet still got seated in the bar area rather than the quiet dining area. Waitress, Kat, was snarky/condescending (until tip time). Our food was delivered to the table next to us, though the tables in the bar area are packed so tightly it was an honest mistake. Only thing saving Chair 5 from a 1 star here is the food. Being from NY, I'm used to restaurants in AK being "Alaska good" (if the restaurant was in NY, you'd eat McD's instead). I recommend anything Halibut Chair 5 offers. Though Google's got it wrong. Its listed as a '$$' for price, but it's more a '$$$-$$$$', so be prepared. In summary, if you're not able to drive the 45 minutes into Anchorage and you don't want to eat at the Alyeska Resort, the foods great, so long as you dont value price, customer service or atmosphere.

Excellent food!! Service was friendly, but a bit lax, had to wait a while for a soda refill. Overall great experience. I had the deep fried halibut, it was delicious and the tarter sauce was quite good. I've also had the deep dish pizza in the past, it was yummy!!

Ordered the fiddlers plunger burger which was tasty. It was massive so I was not able to finish it. The food was good and ambiance was cozy. The only reason I am giving four stars is that the server seemed very rushed to get the table turned over which I noticed. We got the checks without asking and before plates were cleared. The restaurant was not even at capacity. Other than that, I would recommend this place.

I came to this restaurant with a group of friends today. We got sat in Heather section but I didn't know her name until I got the bill. She never introduced herself and she was obviously rude and didn't want to serve us. The food was okay but the customer service was awful. I will not come back to this restaurant. Me and all of my friends got her vibe that she didn't want to serve us

First time visit we went on a Monday evening. First cleanliness gets less than 1 . Server was friendly and polite and knew the menu. Appetizers were ok nothing special. Steaks were tender but lacked flavor. There were 3 in our party of 4 that ordered steaks. We ordered 3 different steaks. They were big and tender. Just lacked flavor. They use styrofoam to go boxes.

9 of us showed up for lunch in July and had no problem getting a table. The waitress was nice and attentive and our food come out quickly. We had a variety of dishes and no one complained, all was tasty. I think if you go for dinner you should make reservations.

Good food as always. Don't let yourself get placed near the pool table though. The guys playing pool had to practically back up to my table to make shots. Very distracting talking to my father, while trying not to get hit by the stick. Very nice place otherwise.

Chair 5 is one of my favorite places to eat! Their burgers and pizzas are equally outstanding, and they have a huge choice of beers and wines! Every time we're in Girdwood, we stop by and they have never disappointed. The only downside is that they are sometimes understaffed, so waiting for your meal or check can take a little longer than usual. But, the wait is always worth it!

Nice place and very clean. Close to the resort. Definitely friendly staff. It was four of us and we all ordered different things. Everyone was happy with their order. Yet, the Pizza was definitely the best out of all local places. The price for lunch was $15-20 per person. Absolutely no complaints...

Always a fun drive to Girdwood and love the rustic atmosphere. Their pizza is wonderful (deep dish) but be prepared to wait, it takes extra time to bake. Good fish and chips and burgers too.

This place has a lively bar atmosphere and an incredible view of the mountains in the background. Burgers and pizzas make up most of their menu, but they have a page of good seafood options as well. From my experience, the food is well-made and pretty good; you get what you get without anything special. Servings are extremely large so bring an appetite. In my opinion, the seafood dishes aren't worth the price, but Chair 5 is a pretty good place to enjoy some beers and pizza.

This was my first time eating ay Chair 5, and I was not impressed. My friend and I ordered the fish and chips, which we were told were ALWAYS good. However, while the fries were good, the fish was horrible. I have never had hard and chewy fried fish until this visit. My friend said her's was the same. We could not even finish it. I had heard a lot about Chair 5 over the years, so we were very disappointed to have food so bad.

I agree with another reviewer, the service is better than the food, as unfortunate as it is to say. We had ordered a deep dish pizza, I was thinking a classic and filling item. What we got was challenging to say the least. The crust had been cooked to where it was a hard mass, needing to be gnawed through to consume. I was not impressed. Might be worth returning to see if other items on the menu are better, there were a few things that had caught my eye. Otherwise, it was a nice establishment, nothing shady or offputting. Some great art on the walls and information for tourist or learning types.

I've struggled with the service in a big way but the food is beyond incredible. Everything I have had so far has been magnificent: the daily specials, especially those that are Mexican cuisine, are spectacular. Everything taste so fresh and vibrant and perfectly seasoned. I mean the salt is just on everytime. I frickin dig this place because of the kitchen, they are doing something special. I don't do reviews ever but people need to know that the food is obviously taken seriously and very well executed, consistently.

I always love Chair 5, it's my go to place when I want to get out of Anchorage. Best time to go is early afternoon around 2-3pm. They tend to get busy later afternoon towards dinner time. Good burgers, sandwiches, pizza, mainly American diner food. Great ambience and history with this local joint.

Hot Take! Best Pizza in Alaska. We love going here during a ski weekend or on the way home from fishing and camping during the summer. The Chair 5 pizza is amazing! I also highly recommend the Greek salad.

Pizza was good and plenty. Beer selection was excellent for local and imported brews. Seating areas are a little cramped. There's a pool table where you can play (I think you have to pay with quarters) Parking was a challenge, but there's street parking nearby.

Great food (halibut sandwich with ff, halibut with ff, Turkey sandwich with ff and one 12" pizza) NOTE: Took over 1 hour to get our food with restuarant at half capacity. Almost all tables had pizza, so not sure why it took so long with fresh fish and FF. 3. Subpar Server - Seemed that the server forgot about our table. (4 guest) He took care of the others, yet we had to keep getting his attention to enquire on food and drinks. (I never did get our ketchup after 2 times asking :( We finally asked the table next to us if we could use theirs. ) 4. Clean facility and clean bathrooms. I do not mind waiting for great fresh food, but at least keep our drinks filled while we wait for over an hour for our order. I have worked as a server myself for years, so I understand long hours and busy days, but I always made sure that each table felt like my very first table of the day and made sure to keep them up to date of the status of their order.

Great food, and good service. Only one small complaint. They charge 2.50 to do a half and half pizza. No one charges extra to split a pizza as it is nothing to do and doesn't cost them anything. Wanted one side pepperoni for the kids that wanted pepperoni and one side cheese for the ones who wanted cheese. If anything it saved them money since they had to add less pepperoni. They make enough and get enough business to be nickel and diming over stupid stuff like that. I get if wanted to add ingredients to one side since extra ingredients would cost more. But sheesh really kinda chafed me after spending so much to have a stupid fee like that

Four of us stumbled upon this restaurant- quite impressed with the food-. All of us were very satisfied- and we would consider ourselves a little on the food snobbish side. I had the cheese steak- it was delicious rib steak smothered with peppers, mushrooms and cheese- all very fresh- fries were tasty, and blue cheese was home-made. All of us went away happy- .. atmosphere is casual but very comfortable- would definitely go back again of we were in the area!

We ate lunch here, the food was good and the service was friendly and fast. The crab cakes were the best we’ve ever had. We had the pizza and it was delicious! The Philly Cheesesteak was ok, but nothing real special. Also, the soda was flat so we told our wait staff and switched to another flavor... which was also flat. Overall, we really enjoyed the place and would gladly go back and order a larger pizza!

Delicious Food! Excellent service. Great locals place. I ordered the halibut bites from the appetizer menu and a Ceaser salad. The salad was HUGE, enough for two people and the halibut was fresh and delicious... Wonderful first experience. I gave it a four star rating only because the prices are a bit high. Be prepared for that. I also saw a deep dish pizza being delivered to the next table that looked and smelled divine. I will try that next time. Live music starting at 10. Great place overall. The Cadillac deep dish pizza. It takes a good 45 minutes after you order it but it is well worth the wait. I would recommend add extra pineapple as I like it on every bite. Also it is a very nice environment so the time will pass by super fast and then the pizza will come in no time :) the server who helped us was really nice and professional, kept enough distance but always making sure we were fully satisfied!

Basically this place is an expensive McDonalds. I ordered the English burger, which is a bacon cheese burger. The only thing fresh about it was the poorly sliced onion and hydroponic tomato. The patty was definitely frozen, even though they “grind their own beef,” and then cooked because the waitress did not ask how I wanted the patty cooked. When I got it it was that brown/grey color you get from fast food restaurants. The bun was a king Hawaiian roll, but it was not toasted. The fries were the pressed formed potato steak fries you see at fast food places. My husband got the halibut, which again was a formed pressed square breaded and frozen, so while it’s the “local” fish it was the same processed fish you can get in the lower 48. If you’re looking for fresh and local, this is not the place to go. It’s basic small town USA bar food.

Nice dining area, has pool table, seating for over 50 people. Fries were great, halibut was a little thin but I liked the dipping sauce. Pizza was pretty good and I liked the bones. Friendly service. Sure seemed pricey, expect to spend at least $50 for two people

Service was better than the food by far. Our waitress was attentive and personable and honest about her opinion when we needed some guidance with the menu. Was sort of bummed to get there and discover the entire "Dinner Specials" page of the menu was not currently being served. Although paying $33+ for fish tacos sounded less than appealing given the quality of the other food. Appetizer of wings are said to contain 10-12, mine came with 9, and only two of which were drums. The halibut chunks somehow gave me the idea they were grilled bits of fresh fish, although it came as three thin filets heavily breaded and fried. burger was pretty tasteless, but not overcooked which was nice. Fries are quite good. Wouldn't go back, but it was one of the only places in town that had an extensive salad menu.

Great pizza, awesome nachos, burgers etc are excellent. Order food for pick up is very convenient here. Local atmosphere at the bar every day of the week and especially weekends. Shuttle goes here, so make sure to use glacier valley transit instead of driving if you're going to drink!

I feel like I have had a different experience from the other people that have been here. The food has always been fantastic(I’ve been there 4 times) but I feel I’ve never had great service. I remember once I got an especially spicy burger that had fresh jalapeños that had quite a kick and I had already finished my beer. The server did not loop around and see that I had an empty cup and ask if I wanted another beer, which I really could have used. I ended up getting a box for that burger so I could eat the rest later. I’d also like to add that I was lucky that I was sat next to the server station because I was given very few napkins that I ran out of quickly. I ended up getting my own napkins because no one checked up on me to see if we needed anything. The only other interaction past getting my food was getting the check and asking for a box. It seems like many other people have experience great service here so I will not ding Chair 5 for that, giving them the benefit of the doubt that I was just there on off days. (2 of the 4 times I went here there was live music so I feel it’s hard for a server to be attentive in that situation) All in all, a great place to eat! I will visit again and it is certainly worth stopping into if you’re in town.

Three of us had Pizza there today. We ordered two different Pizzas and shared. We all three agreed that both Pizzas we're the best two Pizzas we have ever eaten! I felt the price was a little high, but when you consider it was the best Pizza we have ever had, price meant very little. If you find yourself near Chair 5 Restaurant, do yourself a favor and order a Pizza. I don't think you will be disappointed!

We frequent here often and it seems they have a challenging time with big groups (6). Granted we came labor day but the place wasn't crowded but it took over a hour and a half to get our food when tables seated after us got their food and left before we got ours. It was interesting since 3 of us ordered the Turkey croissant and none came out as we asked, ie no mayo. The only cooked order was the fish tacos. It saddens us that it seems like the service getting slower and slower each time we visit, and we really enjoy this place. Definitely the chat around our table was how this is no longer the place to visit. And to top it off, menu says gratuity of tables of 8 added, it was added for our party of 6, regardless we wouldve left 20% like they charged but they didnt go by their own policy.

Consistently very good. Their pizzas are made with great talent. The 40 minute wait for the Detroit Style square pizza was worth it. We enjoyed beer and hard cider as the time flew by. This is an excellent after-hike vibrant yet relaxing experience.

It's great for bar scene, pizza, and drinks. If not that, the restaurant is rather expensive for dinner dishes and selections. A surf and turf, steak, or fish is gonna be $35. But tacos also $35. Fish and chips also $35. What, the whole dinner menu is $35 everything? Desserts are boxed pre-bought desserts. I think this really is just a pizza joint, period. Expect nothing else to be impressive. Desserts run you $10 a slice of something. Encountered helpful energetic staff, but not entirely friendly. Maybe an off day?

Randomly picked out off of Google maps and it was a great stop. Had food for everyone and everyone enjoyed their meals. Seating was a slight problem. (Group of 5 of us) but they put us in the back of the sun room and added a chair so it worked out In that reguard Would recommend if you're in the area.
