I’m changing my review. I drove 1.5 hrs to meet a friend here. It took 1 hr to get our food.. I ordered the fish tacos, ahi tuna. The waitress asked if medium w some pink in the middle was ok? Yes, I said.. They came raw Sushi! Not at a happy experience at all. The Railyard is slippin folks.

Excellent service! We had a party of 20ish the server was excellent in remembering everyone's different drinks for refills and meal placements. He never asked us to repeat what drink types nor was there any mistakes on our meal placements, that's wonderful attentive service, plus he had a great attitude. Hard to find great service along with a smile anymore.

Fine attention to detail in their decor. Homey tucked away basement vibe almost makes this place feel like a speakeasy. Menu was well sized with many options from inexpensive burgers ($12ish) to full entrees from ($approx 13-30). Can meet your need on any given night depending on what u want. Complimented with a solid selection of tap beers (many local) makes this a win-win establishment. Would say the plating and ingredients classify this as gastropub fare, but my $21 NY strip steak was plenty to fill me up, and I'm a growing boy. Service was good even with a full house. Busy crowd in there; give it a shot.

I ordered "The Delight" hamburger and it was delicious! The only complaint I have is that we had to wait about 30 minutes on our food and our waiter only came by once during this time, which I could've understood if they were busy but they weren't.

Great staff & classy old style in a basement. EXTREMELY loud due to hard surfaces and a completely open room. Food was high quality, but seemed conservatively seasoned & spiced (aka: bland) to my wife and I. I'd revisit if it was a slow time with few voices.

ALWAYS busy and LOUD! Excellent food and new menu items! Not a casual quiet dinner. Expect a wait regardless of day and time, but so worth it! Enjoy a good drink and strike up a conversation with the others waiting a great past time and who knows maybe a new friend! Love, love this place!

Visited during lunch. There were plenty of tables to choose from in any part of the restaurant. It was my husband and I with our young teenage daughters.The appetizer of $9 crab dip = a heaping tablespoonful (I’m being generous)of dip with very little crab, if any at all. Both daughters had Salisbury steak and my husband and I had a burger. About 40 minutes later our food arrives. “Burger with gravy” were my daughters exact words. Both of our burgers were dry even though we ordered “medium” and there were six small pre-shaped potato “wedges”. The food was nowhere near worth a bill over $75! Our server was very attentive and earned a great tip and all three stars. Waste of our time and money!

The food here is solid (especially by Decatur standards), and the prices are pretty good as well. I'd just say that the service can be a little slow, depending on the night. We've visited three times; one time it was over an hour before we received our food. Otherwise, the service has been okay.

Very nice restaurant I happened upon while traveling. It has a nice comfy atmosphere with a friendly attentive wait staff. They have a great choice of craft beers. The menu had so many choices that I wanted to try, but finally settled for the veal and grits. The veal was delicious and the grits were to die for! (Yep, I never thought I would say that about grits either) I highly recommend this little jewel for great eats.

Family reunion party of 10. Wonderful dinner and attentive server. Grouper was good, duck was excellent. Scallops very good. Desserts were ok; the peanut butter cheesecake is super rich so plan to share! We will be back.

Very good food, nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. We we're in the mood for burgers and this place was highly rated so we decided to try it out on our way through town. We shared a pretzel as a starter which was one of the best I've ever had. The cheese sauce was really good too. My wife and son both had burgers, hers was a veggie burger which she didn't like much and his was a regular burger which he loved. I had the Tennessee Pyramid which was meaty and had a nice later of slaw on a pressed roll. I would highly recommend trying this one. Overall I would go say check it out, unless you're a vegetarian. :)

We stopped here on our way to Memphis. My husband and I are on our honeymoon so let's just say we've been eating out and sampling local restaurants a lot! The Railyard was fantastic!!! Great atmosphere. Friendly, pleasant staff. And the food was, as we say in Boston, wicked good!!!! Highly, highly recommend!

My review of this place should be titled "How to ruin your mother's birthday". Had reservations confirmed through OpenTable for a party of 6 at 7:45 pm. We got there 5 minutes early, walk through the front door and watched about five different waitresses walk past us without acknowledging that we were even standing there. Might have been helpful if they told us the hostess table was in the alleyway entrance to the restaurant. When the hostess finally showed up she told us they didn't have any tables because "they had a fair number of large parties". I said "but we have reservations" she said "well we'll get you seated as soon as a table opens up". After waiting 20 minutes we left and went to the Mellow Mushroom. we were seated immediately with no reservation, go figure. We will never go back to a place that doesn't honor their reservations.

Nice place in downtown Decatur. Rail house themed aesthetic making use of the character the old building provides. The menu is limited to a short list of complex dishes intriguing the taste buds. The jerk roasted pork was awesome.

My wife had the shrimp and scallops. They came out cold. The server took the plate back. Evidently they tried to rewarm the same shrimp and scallops and cheese grits. It was horrible. We will not be coming back any time soon. Jeffrey was the server and he can confirm the details.

This place is a little miracle. Everything I've had from its menu is outstanding. I offer especially during recommendation of the burger known as "The Delight," the caramelized brussel sprouts, and the toffee crack pie. Go out of your way. Eat here. Enjoy.

Almost afraid to leave such a positive review, because we enjoy this spot so much for the quality of food and the level of service. A small venue, but quality (and portion) of food does not reflect that. Kids always enjoy the diverse food options instead of the normal chicken tender and french-fries. Really cool venue and decoration keep you looking around even though you won't be waiting too long for your food. And then at the end of the meal, if you haven't overindulged, their deserts are awesome and not over-priced either.

Nice decor and nice people. Unfortunately the wait time for food was very long. Also, visits from the waitress was few and far between for refills. I ordered the Valhala cheeseburger and it was barely warm by the time I got it. The menu is a bit esoteric and not for everyone so look at the menu before going. On the good side, my dining companions liked the food so it may have just been a fluke with mine. This would be a great place if they can work out the kinks in timely service for food delivery and table service.

My father and I had a nice experience here. The food was well prepared and of good quality. The service was good and polite. The only issue we had was that my father had to use a flashlight to read the menu due to the Edison Bulb string lighting. I understand the atmosphere they are trying to set, it just fails for people with vision issues.

Absolutely disgusting food. I never return food and I couldn’t even eat the damn plate. So disappointing, because it was recommended by locals too! Even the locals need to get out more or the chef needs to be let go! Crazy ambitious menu and poorly executed. Less is more. RIP

Food was excellent. Table placement is on the cramped side, with acoustics that cause noise to ricochet throughout the venue. We sat within arm’s reach of a team of douchebros that yelled at each other the entire time, with one vaping at the table. The staff seemed either unaware or apathetic about this. Great for beer and food, but don’t expect to have a conversation at a reasonable volume.

First visit for myself and a friend. I had the delicious shrimp and grits. My friend had a really great tasting, juicy hamburger. The bourbon ice cream was good. We did not have to wait for a table but I think we got lucky. Parking was easy. I can't wait to go back.

The Railyard is the hidden gem of restaurants in Decatur. The food is out of the this world and the staff is very friendly accommodating. They have a superb scotch menu (if you like Scotch) Its a very unique unique restaurant with some really great dishes. It won't disappoint. Highly recommend the Railyard. 5 stars and two thumbs up!

I was blown away today by the service and the food. Corson was our server and he did an amazing job! He recommended the shorty sandwich and chips and it was amazing! My wife had the Salisbury Steak and my Son had the Valhalla Burger and fries with a craft beer and I must say everything was perfect! I can't wait to go back. The only thing I regret is that I didn't save room for dessert.

It was our first time coming to The Railyard and let me just say they exceeded my expectations! My husband and I were the only ones dining in our party and the atmosphere was perfect for a date night. We had the "Cheese Fritters" for an appetizer and they might be the most delicious thing I've ever eaten. My husband had "The Usual" and said it was delicious. I had shrimp and scallops over cheese grits and let me just say they are melt in your mouth good! They have a wide variety of craft beers and wines as well as some mixed drinks. For dessert we had the "Toffee Crack Pie" for dessert and as I expected it was wonderful. Our service was also great! Cori was attentive and sweet. I give The Railyard five stars for spectacular food, service, and atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back!! Our new favorite!

Nice decor and nice people. Unfortunately the wait time for food was very long. Also, visits from the waitress was few and far between for refills. I ordered the Valhala cheeseburger and it was barely warm by the time I got it. The menu is a bit esoteric and not for everyone so look at the menu before going. On the good side, my dining companions liked the food so it may have just been a fluke with mine. This would be a great place if they can work out the kinks in timely service for food delivery and table service.

My father and I had a nice experience here. The food was well prepared and of good quality. The service was good and polite. The only issue we had was that my father had to use a flashlight to read the menu due to the Edison Bulb string lighting. I understand the atmosphere they are trying to set, it just fails for people with vision issues.

We sat within arm’s reach of a team of douchebros that yelled at each other the entire time, with one vaping at the table. The staff seemed either unaware or apathetic about this. Great for beer and food, but don’t expect to have a conversation at a reasonable volume.

It was our first time coming to The Railyard and let me just say they exceeded my expectations! My husband and I were the only ones dining in our party and the atmosphere was perfect for a date night. We had the "Cheese Fritters" for an appetizer and they might be the most delicious thing I've ever eaten. My husband had "The Usual" and said it was delicious. I had shrimp and scallops over cheese grits and let me just say they are melt in your mouth good! They have a wide variety of craft beers and wines as well as some mixed drinks. For dessert we had the "Toffee Crack Pie" for dessert and as I expected it was wonderful. Our service was also great! Cori was attentive and sweet. I give The Railyard five stars for spectacular food, service, and atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back!! Our new favorite!

Fantastic food. Great takes and flavor combination. Get there early, very popular. Be prepared with reservations. I had the Valhalla burger: big beefy burger, handmade onion rings, mushroom confit, brie, mayo on a brioche roll. OMG! House made potato wedges top. Wife had the Hawaiian 5-0: pulled pork, pineapple salsa, pico, and poblano slaw. Hard to imagine but better than the burger. Great combo of sweet, savory and a little heat. Pictures of the menu (changes 3x a year-ish). Great staff, knowledgeable. Took great care of us.

Went for Valentine's dinner and expected nicer place. They had some interesting combinations but for a $20+ entree you would expect cloth napkins. Prime rib looked wonderful but the flavor on my wife's was bland. Mine had bites that had flavor and some that were bland as well. Potatoes were a small portion and nothing special, they were placed under the steak and were completely covered by the steak. They serve sandwiches and maybe they are good but world not have the streaks again.

This place has great potential. I went in expecting a quiet atmosphere. Not so. I think this restaurant is geared more toward groups. We ordered the crab dip as an appetizer. It did not have very much flavor. I ordered the Prime Rib as an entree. It was cooked just right and the flavor was really good. My wife ordered the glazed duck and she enjoyed it. I went in expecting a fine dining atmosphere and got more of a bar and grill feel. The wait staff is dressed very casually. Maybe this is the experience they are trying to convey but it was not what I was expecting. Overall the entrees are good but it seems like a bar and grill trying to be something more.

Keep it simple. They do great things at lunch. Sandwiches, wraps, all great. Dinner is where it falls off. Most of the entrees are overpriced. Last visit nearly every dish was cold to include appetizers and my prime rib. One dessert came way to hot, waaay. It burned our mouths big time, even after sitting for five minutes with steam rolling off. This was a party of eight...the majoy left underwhelmed on the dinner experience. Considering it's twenty minutes away from me, the consistent waiting (if you're lucky to get a table at all for dinner) I won't be making it for dinner but lunch is a must.

If anyone notices your drink getting low they will refill it for you even if it's not your server. The food was really good and the lemon blueberry bunt cake was amazing. My husband took me for Valentine's Dinner the weekend after Valentine's day. We had never been before. My husband loves prime rib so he thought because of the ratings and prices it would be an upscale establishment. The only thing upscale about the place were the prices. People were dressed beneath casual so we were definitely overdressed. We both ordered prime rib because the waitress said that is why they are known. Bummer. My prime rib was huge but more than half of it was fat. It was so tasteless. The texture and 'medium' presentation were perfect but completely lacking in flavor. It could easily have passed for an $11 steak at a roadside truck stop. My husband agreed. The 2 stems of broccolini was not properly cooked. I had to wrestle with the steak knife to cut through the broccolini stem. The 4, 2in sized halves of roasted potatoes were also without bland. Neither of us finished past a few bites of the sides. We were very disappointed. Our table for 2 was literally within 'elbow room' distance to the table for 2 next to us. So if you are looking for a romantic or intimate setting, even for Valentine's weekend.... This isn't it. The waitress was very attentive. But she obviously has never had a top rate prime rib. The restaurant/bar was clean, as were the bathrooms. I rate it a 2. Definitely not worth the price. Would have been better off at the local Longhorns Steakhouse for price and flavor.

Excellent meal there last night with great friends! I had the Mixed Grill which included Maple Sausage (very tasty), duck leg & a venison steak. The venison was the best I've ever had, grilled to perfection (I ordered MR). The duck was super tender & juicy, but almost overcooked. I think they're was an herb flavoring on it, but I much prefer a fruit based sauce/marinade on duck. Served with fingerlings, it was a very hearty meal! The Apple Cider Margarita was interesting--not really sweet or tart, but somewhere in-between.

Could have used more of the sides, the fingerling potatoes and broccolini, they were good, just wanted more. Little small so get there early or make reservations but worth it.

Fantastic food. Great takes and flavor combination. Get there early, very popular. Be prepared with reservations. I had the Valhalla burger: big beefy burger, handmade onion rings, mushroom confit, brie, mayo on a brioche roll. OMG! House made potato wedges top. Wife had the Hawaiian 5-0: pulled pork, pineapple salsa, pico, and poblano slaw. Hard to imagine but better than the burger. Great combo of sweet, savory and a little heat. Pictures of the menu (changes 3x a year-ish). Great staff, knowledgeable. Took great care of us.

Went for Valentine's dinner and expected nicer place. They had some interesting combinations but for a $20+ entree you would expect cloth napkins. Prime rib looked wonderful but the flavor on my wife's was bland. Mine had bites that had flavor and some that were bland as well. Potatoes were a small portion and nothing special, they were placed under the steak and were completely covered by the steak. They serve sandwiches and maybe they are good but world not have the streaks again.

Fabulous sandwiches perfectly paired with microbrews and the warm welcoming happy staff make this eatery a repeat favorite again and again. You'll thank me later just go! This place has great potential. I went in expecting a quiet atmosphere. Not so. I think this restaurant is geared more toward groups. We ordered the crab dip as an appetizer. It did not have very much flavor. I ordered the Prime Rib as an entree. It was cooked just right and the flavor was really good. My wife ordered the glazed duck and she enjoyed it. I went in expecting a fine dining atmosphere and got more of a bar and grill feel. The wait staff is dressed very casually. Maybe this is the experience they are trying to convey but it was not what I was expecting. Overall the entrees are good but it seems like a bar and grill trying to be something more.

Keep it simple. They do great things at lunch. Sandwiches, wraps, all great. Dinner is where it falls off. Most of the entrees are overpriced. Last visit nearly every dish was cold to include appetizers and my prime rib. One dessert came way to hot, waaay. It burned our mouths big time, even after sitting for five minutes with steam rolling off. This was a party of eight...the majoy left underwhelmed on the dinner experience. Considering it's twenty minutes away from me, the consistent waiting (if you're lucky to get a table at all for dinner) I won't be making it for dinner but lunch is a must.

Excellent food in a very unique location. From the main street it is down a flight of stairs. It appears that there is a ground level entrance in the back. Not a fan of the background music or the temperature of the room. The food was worth the discomfort. It is the kind of place I would have expected jazz.

Possibly the best service of any restaurant I've ever been too. These people work as a team. You not only have 1server buy many. If anyone notices your drink getting low they will refill it for you even if it's not your server. The food was really good and the lemon blueberry bunt cake was amazing. We will definitely be going back in the very near future. Grilled prime rib medium rare.

Service was really great here and the overall feel was very nice and welcoming. The food was okay though. I went with a large group and I got the Baja burger with a black bean patty. I was pretty disappointed in it, the avocado was extremely hard and the slaw was dry and overpowering. The other food in the party looked good and they enjoyed it so I feel like I just ordered something bad. I would probably go again to try something else.

I honestly have no idea how the food is, first of all. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and waited for 25 minutes pass it. Than waited over 10 minutes for our server to appear and take our drink order. She looked out of that we wanted an appetizer. Than as she was leaving the table told us, as an after thought, they were out of basically beef. We got up and left. It’s loud and has a basement feel. By the way our reservation was at 7. How are you out of half your dinner menu at 7? Piss poor planning that’s how.

The food at this place is always excellent. You can tell how fresh the food is by the flavor. The beer selection is top notch and features beers from craft breweries from all over the country (10 at a time as they have 10 taps). I've eaten here many times and it's a winner.

My husband took me for Valentine's Dinner the weekend after Valentine's day. We had never been before. My husband loves prime rib so he thought because of the ratings and prices it would be an upscale establishment. The only thing upscale about the place were the prices. People were dressed beneath casual so we were definitely overdressed. We both ordered prime rib because the waitress said that is why they are known. Bummer. My prime rib was huge but more than half of it was fat. It was so tasteless. The texture and 'medium' presentation were perfect but completely lacking in flavor. It could easily have passed for an $11 steak at a roadside truck stop. My husband agreed. The 2 stems of broccolini was not properly cooked. I had to wrestle with the steak knife to cut through the broccolini stem. The 4, 2in sized halves of roasted potatoes were also without bland. Neither of us finished past a few bites of the sides. We were very disappointed. Our table for 2 was literally within 'elbow room' distance to the table for 2 next to us. So if you are looking for a romantic or intimate setting, even for Valentine's weekend.... This isn't it. The waitress was very attentive. But she obviously has never had a top rate prime rib. The restaurant/bar was clean, as were the bathrooms. I rate it a 2. Definitely not worth the price. Would have been better off at the local Longhorns Steakhouse for price and flavor.

Excellent meal there last night with great friends! I had the Mixed Grill which included Maple Sausage (very tasty), duck leg & a venison steak. The venison was the best I've ever had, grilled to perfection (I ordered MR). The duck was super tender & juicy, but almost overcooked. I think they're was an herb flavoring on it, but I much prefer a fruit based sauce/marinade on duck. Served with fingerlings, it was a very hearty meal! The Apple Cider Margarita was interesting--not really sweet or tart, but somewhere in-between.

Tge meal was great and so was the servise. Tea tasted pretty old, I use to eat here years ago and its noticibly different. We ordered dessert, my gf had strawberry shortcake, I had tge toffee pie. Her shortcake was incredibly tough. My pie was microwaved to hell and back. Everything besides that it was great.

Had a dish that was called the Hunter's lodge. Definitely the most interesting dish I've ever had. The vegitable pairings with the deer, duck and sausage were fantastic and the experience of having 3 small plates at once was just like a choose your own adventure book.
