A Southside landmark. Open since like 1931, not much changed. Great food, friendly folks, nice atmosphere. Staff goes over and beyond to make sure guests have all they need. Banana pudding is a must!. Right off i65 so. Just off the 4th ave so. Exit on the left. Green and white building with ample parking.

This is a cafeteria style restuarant with many meat and veggie choices. I had the fried porkchop which was a bit overcooked for my taste, but was still good. The veggies were outstanding along with the service. We will definitely go back.

Always good. Stick with what you know seems to be Ted's motto. As quick to eat lunch here as standing in line for a regrettable fast food decision. Easy to eat healthy too. Low salt low fat veggies and fish/chicken options.

No stars from me, two young men who were standing in line in front of me, were allowed to go behind the steam table and prepare their own meal. The two men walked in off street like I did, owner and the workers working the steaming must know them. To me you should at least wash your before you pickup serving utensils!. This should have never happened!

I can't give 5 stars at this time because Ive only uad breakfast and they serve lunch as well. The breakfast was good but not spectacular. They have a small breakfast menu and more choices might have made me give 4 stars. Worth a try but I dont think I will be going back for breakfast. I did get a lunch menu and it seems promising. Hope this review helps a foodie like myself.

My fiance and I were passing through Birmingham on our way to Gulf Shores and wanted to stop and eat someplace local right off the interstate. Ted's pooped up and had great reviews so we decided to try it out. The food was great and the service was top notch! We spoke to the owner as he left and when he heard we were traveling he gave us two cookies for the road. If you are looking for southern style food with southern hospitality, Ted's is the way to go!

Everyone was so friendly and accommodating to our family. We have to come to Birmingham every 3 months or so for routine checkups with my son’s neurologist and we will most definitely be eating here from now on when we visit.

Ted's is a Birmingham institution. And the best meat n' three I've EVER been to, here or anywhere else. Serving up Greek favorites as well as classic Southern comfort food, only dieters will be displeased with their experience! Though, more seriously, they do have salads and some lighter choices. On top of the food being stupendous, the wait staff is outstanding. I've been going there for 15 years, and the wait staff is always pleasant and accommodating.

OMG, the steamed squash, the fried green tomatoes, the yams...I could not stop eating...as usual they were absolutely delicious...the proteins were great as well. Get there early for a seat & avoid the line even though they do move the lines fast... Always a hit, you will not be disappointed... simply great food.

I originally ranked Teds as 4 stars but I am changing it to 2 for the following reason: Today, I am choosing to no longer go to Ted's for breakfast. I have been coming here off and on for a little over 6 months and recommending the breakfast to co-workers since we work in walking distance. The food is great but what is frustrating is that every time I order a Sausage Egg and Cheese sandwich, the price has been different ranging any price between $2.50 and $5.50. What was the "last straw" today is that I was charged almost $7 for a breakfast sandwich! No side or drink, just a sandwich. I confirmed, and asked "Are you sure that this is the price for a sandwich?!". I was told that the prices have changed and she claimed that it was because I had two eggs and a meat. I didn't ask for two eggs. I wasn't even aware that there was a price difference for the number of eggs that you get. What is even more frustrating is that when I got back to my desk and looked on the website(as of 5/15/2019), the price for SANDWICHES ON TOAST OR BISCUIT specifically Egg and Bacon OR Sausage is $3.90. Please explain to me how a breakfast sandwich can go from what should have been $4.29, if you add tax, to almost $7.00. I am extremely disappointed and feel like I have been taken advantage of and that the prices depend on whoever is at the cash register and their mood for the day. Because of these inconsistencies, I will no longer recommend Teds to others for breakfast because you never know what you are going to get.
