Locals are right, this is the best barbeque we've had in Birmingham. Restaurant is retro but very clean and staff is great. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful. Cornbread better than my own. Parking on the road a little tight.

Just one warning the space is really tight like blood pressure cuff tight. Please don't let that stop you from stepping through the doors. They do have tables for dining in if you prefer to eat there. The customer service was great, the waitress/hostess was very polite. Now, the food is something to write home about. I had the pulled pork sandwich with a side of macaroni & cheese, me and my friend ate in silence because the food was so good. Lol. My friend had the bbq baked potato (with your choice of toppings) and greens. Be sure to try the cornbread. We went during the afternoon hours after the lunch rush. I have went back and tried the ribs and I wasn't disappointed, my food was even better the next day. The parking is like curb side and I think some people park on the side. On the same block you have Taco place, Big Spoon Creamery, Ono Poke, Pizza spot, another ice cream place, and an antique shop with a Chevron gas station on the same road if you need to refuel. Down. South. BBQ. This is super popular hole in the wall complete with a door that sticks when you open it. The menu is simple but powerful. They have sandwiches for around $6 ish as well as meals, platters and loaded potatoes that will make you need a nap. The ribs are tasty and just melt off the bone. Oh man. The pork sandwiches are generous and the sides are great. I got the chips for a side and it was not your typical small bag, it was surprisingly large. The soft drinks come with the "good ice". You know what I'm talking about, right? The ice that's like little pebbles that soaks in part of your drink and chews real nice. The atmosphere is cool with random things on the walls including writings and scribbles from random people. The location is in a popular area with other restaurants, bars, ice cream shops, juice shops and a cool looking antique shop. This is a must-visit place. Highly recommended.

Best BBQ in Birmingham in my opinion. Nobody around has ribs like they do. It is the meatiest rib I have ever had. Saw's sauce packs a Tangy sweet with a little bit of spice that is just right. Not craving BBQ? That's ok, pop over to Saw's on the side for a Saw's burger, sweet heat chicken wings or another of the tastey choices they have. You could also grab a local draft brew or they sport a full bar as well. Love this local treasure!!

Had lunch here on a Friday with a former boss. I now live out of BHM and was in town for a few days. The food was fantastic! We both got the rib sandwich and the ribs were the best. During our time, we both noticed that the smokey smell was quite bad in there, but it wasn't until we left and I got into the car that I realized how bad it actually was! My clothes had a super strong smoke smell, like I had just stood next to a campfire! I had one other appointment that afternoon and it was clear the smokey smell on my clothes was bothering others. I immediately had to take a shower once I got to my hotel and the clothes were relegated inside a plastic bag, inside the trunk because the smell was so strong! Please work on your ventilation for the kitchen!

A wonderful quaint small hole in the wall place in delightful downtown Edgewood. All of the food is made there. For sides I had green beans & cabbage --- cooked Southern --- so, you know they were excellent. :) I had the smoked sausage -- throughly enjoyed.

The food was very good, as unusual. Loved the smoked chicken and baked beans. My son loved the ribs and baked beans. The employees were extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. One employee quickly replaced my cup one I showed him the leak. He was performing another task, stop and resolved my situation immediately and with a smile! Wonderful service. Wish there were more indoor sitting tables, otherwise, I had an enjoyable experience.

Really good barbecue. Ordered a rack and a half of the ribs. Ribs were very tasty and we like the barbecue sauce. We thought the ribs may have been a little over cooked only on the outside but we're not sure if that's the way it was supposed to be or not. Inside I found the meat on the ribs to be juicy and tender and very nice. Also tried the pulled pork sandwich. Excellent. I think the pulled pork is probably the best thing on this menu. Love that pulled pork sandwich. also try the potato salad which I thought was great. Tried the coleslaw also which we thought was very good. Overall great food, moderate ambience, fairly easy parking, this place is usually busy.

We arrived before opening and wasted some time at a nearby shop. Fifteen minutes after opening the line was out the door. This place is all about the barbecue and they have gotten it exactly right. Not much in the way of amenities, not many tables but Saw's is the place for barbecue in Bham.

Tried it for the first time. I heard so much about it. I was very disappointed. The mac and cheese tasted like it came from a box. The potato salad had a weird taste and texture and the barbecue sauce for the chicken tasted like sour mayo. I took my mom and daughter. They were also disappointed.

I can see why Saw’s BBQ is one of Alabama’s best BBQ places. The ribs were wonderfully moist and tender. The flavor was overpowered however by the tomato and vinegar based sauce. The pulled pork was flavorful with a light smoke and smooth bite and pull. All meat in this two meat plate was drowning in the aforementioned sauce. The greens were a very sweet and vinegary side that was an unwanted surprise and the Mac and cheese left much to be desired. As stop number two in Alabama on our mini crawl it was a much wanted improvement to there completion south in Montgomery.

I had the stuffed baked potato with chicken, vegetables and barbecue sauce and it amazed my dinner guests!!! My brother exclaimed: that’s not a potato, that’s a football! It was easily the biggest and the best stuffed potato of my life.

We were in the Birmingham area for an event today and wanted to get something local to eat. My husband was in charge of this and picked Saw's BBQ and I am so glad that he did. This was some of the best BBQ we have ever had!! We all got the pulled pork, I got the stuffed potato, my husband got the plate and my daughter got the sandwich. The BBQ sauce was perfect, the pork was tender, and the sweet tea was just right. It was a little pricey, but well worth it! Next time I am down that way I will be making another stop at Saw's!

Very good BBQ. We would have liked some of the traditional fare like French fries or onion rings. Service was good and quick. There are not many seats inside so sometimes it may be to crowded to find a seat inside, especially if there are more than 4 in your party.

I was waiting to visit this establishment, and I FINALLY made it! This is a small "hole-in-the-wall", AND it has character! The food is unique and amazingly deliciious! The bbq sauce is vinegar-based. It is definitely one of the best bbq places I have been to. The employees are friendly! And, lastly, I was impressed with the restroom. It has a contemporary, CLEAN, cute out-house vibe to it. This is a bucket-list restaurant for anyone who visits Bham. 5-stars, especially for the service AND the food!

Pulled pork was good. Sausage was good as well. They only have one BBQ sauce and it had a very strong vinegar flavor. Sauce is put on the meat so you taste it.

This is legitimately the best barbecue in Birmingham. I don't care what anyone else says. Make sure to get the barbecue chicken with the white sauce (mayonnaise based). It is the specialty of Northern Alabama and also of this place. The chicken is so full of smokey flavor and so tender, even the white meat. And the sweet and tangy white sauce is a great complement. The ribs were also good. They were fall off the bone tender (so I think they were braised first).

Absolutely. The. Best. Barbecue. If I had a “last meal” I would not think twice about ordering Saw’s bbq and side. The veggies will make you think you’ve had desert. I’m not a Mac-n-cheese fan. But, they’ve taken it to another level. Arrive early. The demand is high and seating limited. And expect to smell delicious the rest of the day. The smoke that makes it so awesome will stay with you if you dine in. But...It’s. Worth. It. Do not try to capture the melt in your mouth greatness on your phone. Pic’s fail. Words fall way too short. Saw’s is a must.

This is a small busy shop that sells barbecue. I got the smoked chicken with white barbeque sauce, which I did not like. The bbq sauce tasted and had the same consistentcy as ranch. Their bread was literal slices of white bread. Their dessert is banana pudding, but you could see the "Great Value" pudding boxes they used. Others I went with enjoyed the brisket and had okay remarks regarding the ribs, but I would not recommend.

The food is great, yes you're kinda rushed just a little bit, but considering the amount of people that are in and out, plus the small size, I think they do a fantastic job of taking care of business. The menu doesn't show everything, as they write specials up on the boards. I recommend the sampler if you've never eaten here before. Love it when my job takes me through homewood!!!

A few years ago we were a hangry couple on our way to visit a friend in northern Alabama from Florida and needed food. Yelp reviews pointed us to Saws but my wife didn't want bbq. She was leery about the white bbq sauce too. Now we stop here every chance we get and usually buy a cooler to bring food home in. My wife and I always orders extra white sauce now too. Love this place! The loaded bakers are insane.

Saw's is my favorite local BBQ since moving to Birmingham. The space is tight and seating is first come first serve. Ordering is simple at the counter and they bring it to your table. The white sauce on the chicken is a must try. The sweet tea is southern approved.

Wonderful, friendly staff. Loved the white BBQ sauce. Between everyone in our group we were able to try chicken, ribs, and pulled pork. Large pieces of meat in the chicken sandwich and pulled pork sandwich, definitely no skimping going on here. Excellent flavor to the meat. The only disappointment was the side dishes. The deviled eggs, mac and cheese, and baked beans were a little bland. Still worth it and we'll probably stop in again the next time we pass through

We used Saws Catering for our sons Wedding Rehearsal dinner. Holly from the Homewood Saws Catering service was so awesome. She made a stressful night perfect. She took care of everything so we could enjoy the night with our guests. I highly recommend anyone having an event to use them and her. Awesome food and service.

Whack. Bland and lacked seasoning. Macaroni and cheese is horrible. Baked beans had zero ingredients or flavor. The best thing on the menu was the soda. And that's because it was already done when it was delivered.

I legitimately say best ever in a number of reviews, but in the case of Saw's ribs I have never had a rib this tender and flavorful. I strongly you suggest ordering with no sauce, or sauce on the side, because they really don't need anything in them
