Our home away from home. Luckily, we live close enough to walk over. We eat here about once a week and the food as always been fresh, hot, and yummy! We love Rojo and consider it our "go to" place when we don't feel like cooking. Great salads and fajitas. Try their chips and fresh salsa.

Really neat place! Eclectic and tasty menu. We ordered paella (Mexican flavored jambalaya) and a big burger with margaritas. Staff were super friendly, necessary since it is a free for all getting a table and ordering food, though it settles down once you are settled.

This is a nice place to eat. The menu consists of burritos, tacos and other similar foods, but also includes things like burgers and other sandwiches. There are some tables inside but they have a bunch of outdoor seating as well. There are lots of trees around the building and lining the streets so it stays pretty cool outside even on a warm day. I stopped there around 11am for lunch with a coworker so it wasn't super busy and the food came out surprisingly quick. Good vibe and good food. It is far enough away from downtown that you dont get all of the vehicle and foot traffic but still close enough for a lunch stop while working downtown. I will definitely be eating here again.

I dined with friends on the shady, pleasant patio. Service was friendly and helpful and I loved the many choices on the menu. One friend needed a custom sandwich due to allergies and the server was glad to help. He went out of his way to be helpful! I love that Rojo supports local charities. ( I am a watershed conservation enthusiast especially.) Food was good. I needed to trade my slaw with my friend because I hate cilantro but her salad with the house dressing was wonderful! (Some of us have a gene that makes cilantro taste like soap and worse. Letting us know cilantro is in a dish is a kindess.)

I was really impressed with Rojo. I had a business get together here and was hoping my out of town vendor would enjoy the food. The atmosphere was lively and the food was excellent and generously portioned. It was also the first time I’d eaten there, so I was putting a lot of trust in the online reputation, and I see it is well-earned. The Southwest quesadilla was delicious and so was the queso. I’ll be back for sure! There were several items on the expansive menu I definitely want to try. If you’re looking for great Latin inspired or American-style cuisine, Rojo won’t disappoint!

The house salad is the best deal, as it is cheap...and HUGE! Add that tofu sausage, and BAM! Prices are ok. Service can be spotty, but they are always BUSY! Counter order, take a number kinda setup. Don't expect your apps to come before your food. They will bring it as it's ready. So, if you order the Totochos, as you should, your burrito or salad, maybe even burger just might come out first or at the same time...which leaves you with no table room. But knowing that, and not being a person that kinda thing bothers...this place is a GEM!

My family went to Rojo on a Sunday. I ordered from the brunch menu and got the egg, potato & peppers burrito. It was just okay. I know it is a cool, hipster kind of place, but honestly it was a one and done for me. Unless you live close by, parking is very minimal. You order at the counter, just like Moe's (which I would prefer) and then try to find a seat. We had to sit in a room next door to the main dining area. My husband and I both thought that the food was very mediocre and not worth trying to find parking spot to get something equal to or less then Moe's.

The time to visit is the early evening when there is a slight bit of dusky light peaking through the trees and the red glow from the neon sign beckons you forward. Everything I have had here has been good but my constant favorite is the black bean burger with a margarita on the rocks ✨ only negative is parking is ALWAYs difficult but if you live in the neighborhood it’s a perfect walkable location.

This is a favorite place of mine. They have a large menu selection, a really neat environment (love the patio), and it's pet friendly. I've never had Mexican food that wasn't seasoned. Didn't think that was possible. Somehow, everything I ordered needed salt/seasoning...Including the queso. How does that happen? I gave it a 2 because the environment is cool and the staff was nice. But I won't go back for food unless I'm there having drinks. By the time I get drunk, it won't matter what the food tastes like.

UPDATED: OK. So sorry. My original review below was mistaken. I got mixed up as I met my wife and son here but didn't order (I got the breakfast from a different place and thought it was here). My wife and son had buffalo wings and chicken fingers. I actually didn't like the buffalo wings but the chicken fingers were decent. Best thing I had was the wonderful drinks from the bar! My original review: Had a wonderful breakfast here. I ordered one of the bowls with scrambled eggs and it was awesome. Portions are plentiful, too!

I'm a very laid back individual, this was the first time I have just walked out of a restaurant. The off duty staff was completely wasted, combative, and would not leave us alone. Politely suggesting they should go home, only stoked the fire. It got worse. Our best option was to get up and leave. So we did. I will never go back to this place again.. Shame...

Decently priced food, attentive and helpful staff in the heart of South Side. Side bar with live music, sports events and trivia are great crowd plus patio for good weather. A little cramped in the space, but the food is good. Plentiful selection of adult beverages and soft drinks make it a great place to go any night of the week. Fast service gets your food to you and it's as you ordered it the greatest part of the time.

I saw Rojo featured in Birmingham Magazine and had to give it a shot. I love tacos and living in Texas for most of my life I am a taco aficionado, if there is such a thing. Rojo did not disappoint. They have a lot of options on the menu that it's hard to choose. No matter what you decide on, it's going to be good. Ordering is done via walkup counter and then finding a seat. The tables were close together but in a quaint, we're all friends here kind of way. There is a lovely patio and unique works of art adorn the walls. Food is quick, staff is friendly, I really enjoyed my visit to Rojo and it comes recommended.

The food was fresh and flavorful without being overwhelming, and the guacamole was so good it might be my new favorite. I had the sangria which was really good, but my friend had the mimosa and I definitely recommend that more. Best I've ever had.

I've never had Mexican food that wasn't seasoned. Didn't think that was possible. Somehow, everything I ordered needed salt/seasoning...Including the queso. How does that happen? I gave it a 2 because the environment is cool and the staff was nice. But I won't go back for food unless I'm there having drinks. By the time I get drunk, it won't matter what the food tastes like.

UPDATED: OK. So sorry. My original review below was mistaken. I got mixed up as I met my wife and son here but didn't order (I got the breakfast from a different place and thought it was here). My wife and son had buffalo wings and chicken fingers. I actually didn't like the buffalo wings but the chicken fingers were decent. Best thing I had was the wonderful drinks from the bar! My original review: Had a wonderful breakfast here. I ordered one of the bowls with scrambled eggs and it was awesome. Portions are plentiful, too!

Always tasty! Good atmosphere and a great staff. They offer an extensive menu with American and Latin cuisine and I don't think I've ever had anything bad there. They have a decent amount of vegetarian options and good fully stocked bar.

Excellent food. Awful service. The order taker forgot to turn in half the tickets from our large group of 12. People that arrived last we served in just a few minutes while early arrivals waited over 30 minutes. No apology offered for the mistake. Would have stayed around and ordered drinks. Thursday nights at Rojo’s is always great! My friends and I meet up for margarita night at least once or twice a month. I tried the Philly for the first time this past Thursday and it was soooooo good!! The food and drinks are at a reasonable price and really good. The Only thing is parking sucks. You can always find a parking spot on the other side of the park if you don’t feel like circling around the block waiting for someone to leave. It’s definitely worth the short walk!

I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, until the non-customers that had a tambourine showed up and decided to camp out on the sidewalk next to the restaurant. It was hard to have any sort of conversation with the people I was there with and the security guard that was working the Friday night we were there, encouraged the tambourine playing. Put a damper on the evening. Food was good and the evening was really nice on the patio until then.

They have paper straws which is a amazing, the food is very good. We also had chips and salsa as a starter and the salsa is amazing. You order the food at the counter so no need to wait for a person to get your order, and the food was ready very fast. The paella is huge and delicious!

The food was good once you figure out the overly complicated menu and ordering process. Parking is always an issue so wear comfortable shoes you'll have to do a bit of walking to get there but it will be well worth it. Enjoy..I did.

They have an outside area for dog owners, a covered heated patio, some indoor seating, and bar seating. They also have weekend brunch with drink specials. The menu has Latin and American options. Overall you won't be disappointed. Just remember it's self serve!

Whoa, why this place get's 4.5 stars, from almost a thousand reviews is beyond me! Now, how much, I wonder would it cost them to spring for an actual taco bowl for the so called taco salad? I gave two stars, because the ingredients on that salad my wife ordered and on the Mediterranean Quesadilla that I ordered were good. On the latter item, though, the only cheese used was feta, which doesn't really melt well. So, the entire composition just fell apart, while I was trying to eat it. If there'd been a mixture of feta and, say, Monterey jack, this would have been much, much better

I got the steak fajitas. It was alright some of the steak was burned and the meat is pretty much shredded. The serving size is decent but they only give you four little wraps with it. I piled on all of them and not even half of my plate went on there. Its extra for more raps though so I just ate my stuff off the plate as is. Next time I'll probably just get a burrito or quesadilla.
