Refreshing menu in a town known for its fried seafood. You can actually get vegetables, fruit, & even quinoa! The brisket was probably average or less, not much smoke or seasoning & just a tad tough, but the fish & fresh offerings were excellent. Very fun patio lights & multi level outdoor seating. Greatest novelty has to be the long leaf artificial turf all through the property, indoor & outdoor. Go for the clean eats, maybe not the barbecue.

The place is very cute. Love the theme of white and grass. Very cute and had games available for use. However, the meat was pretty dry. All of the food was very healthy. There are no burgers here. The ribs I had and the brisket my brother and father had was very dry. They did have great sweet potato fries!

Went for lunch and the food was great. You order up front and they give you a number then bring your food out to you. Had a brisket bowl which was very tasty. Paired that with a smoothie and that made a great choice portion for lunch. With the bowl you get a choice of quinoa, brown rice, or sweet potatoes base. I had brisket but the salmon topping was supposed to be even better. Hey if you are near West beach, gulf shores or orange beach you should stop in and give this place a try. You get what you pay for so the price may be higher than some of the other tourist stops but the food was much better than those tourist stops. Clean atmosphere and good service. Menu is a little small, it's either vegan/alternative foods or bbq. My wife had the impossible burger (vegan) and said was great. I had ribs, mac n cheese and potato salad. The food was all good. The ribs were flavor and tender, a little too tender for my liking but I'm critical of bbq since I usually make my own. It was a fun experience overall and I would go back.

So much fun! The atmosphere draws you in but the food keeps ya coming back for more! Love the originality and how many options there are for Celiac's (gluten intolerant). If you order anything that involves brisket-you're doing it right.

Food was okay. I mean it was pretty good but I don't think it was that great. I'm trying to be nice here. What I do like was the carpet! It was super comfortable. I like this eating. The wood furniture was a nice touch. And the best part was the free games for the kids to play. I really should give three stars if I was trying to be hard on the place. The food was lacking for the money. But the atmosphere was Splendid and I would definitely give it another shot. Honestly maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. By far this is meant to be a positive review even if it sounds negative.

So the place is not exactly little kid friendly. They do have fantastic games inside to play. We love love loved the atmosphere. However no one said anything to us about high chairs, they did have them and we noticed them on the way out. My 3 year old ordered jack fruit, none of us knew what that was. It was on the kids menu And either she got the wrong order or they are really overestimating kids tolerance for heat!! And it sure looked/tasted like chicken to me! Spicy chicken! They both ended up eating the Mac and cheese only. The kids didn't even like the sweet potato hash. But I guess my kids are used to sweet potatoes with butter.

I was really impressed with the quality of the dishes here. Most of the places in Orange Beach seemed very generic, corporate or geared for the masses. This place was original & quirky, had a super friendly staff and served perfectly seasoned, light-as-can-be, fried shrimp. The macaroni and cheese was heavenly and the bite of salmon I tried, melted in my mouth. My only regret is that I didn't have room for more.

This was a great place to eat in the first year. With their recent menu changes, they have removed most vegan - plant based menu items. Power bowls changed, no jackfruit dishes, etc. They were unique and we always had good food and great service. Now, it’s just another bbq place with minimal choices. I don’t know if their regular bbq is good or not...but the bbq jackfruit certainly was. The point is...nothing unique about PB now. Turning into just another bbq restaurant (hence the name change to "PB BBQ”. Disappointed that they have changed their focus. No need to go there now.

Would be a six star but they dropped the ball on the food.... literally drove 2 hours to come here and they run out of food since the delivery truck only brought fruit... the beach dog is one of the best options on the menu for vegans and they didn’t have it or the impossible burger. It’s the weekend and you had ONE job... sorry picnic beach but you need to step up and coordinate better. It’s unacceptable.

I put in a to-go order for the bison burger and it was amazing. The atmosphere is cool as well. While I was waiting for my order I was asked by 4 different waitresses if I had already been waited on so the staff are terrific as well. Love this place. You should definitely try it. They have plenty for children as well. The smoothies are the best I've ever had.

Skip the more expensive places and come here. Ample seating, super friendly staff, and far better food. Our family of six ordered widely from the menu and all of it was great. My only complaint - and I'm really nitpicking here - the shrimp batter was just a touch overseasoned for my taste. That didn't stop me from eating ALL of it. Next time we'll come here first!

Love this restaurant! Fantastic healthy choices that taste amazing!!!! I have been coming to the Gulf Shores area for 17 years and now live here. This is the first restaurant that I confidently recommend to residents and vacationers. (Not really a “seafood” place-although shrimp, tuna and salmon are in the menu as healthy choices). Check them out! Great location, atmosphere-fun, clean, close to beach, friendly, I could go on and on! Thank you Picnic Beach. I hope others rise to your standards!

Absolutely love the atmosphere. Very casual, very chill. We loved the pulled pork nachos. The ribs were good, and the Mac and cheese, we just weren't fans of the sweet potato fries. Overall a great experience. If you want to step a little out of the way of the crowds, this is the place to come.

My wife and I ate here while on a beach vacation in Gulf Shores. We ordered the trio with pulled pork, chicken, and beef brisket. We had three sides. The sides were Mac and cheese, beefy baked beans, and french fries. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was so cool with a beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico. I do not recommend eating at The Hangout across the street. The food there is way over priced and plain. Walk across the street to the Beach Picnic you won't regret it!! Reasonably priced and delicious food I promise. ;)

The food and flavors were very tasty. The service was less than stellar. Wrong order brought out, said they were going to fix it, they didn't, had to track someone down to wait another 20 for a hot dog. When it came out they didn't bother bringing the side dish. Finished the meal and the side never made it out. No acknowledgement and no attempt to make it better. But the food we did get tasted great.

My family and I enjoyed eating at the Picnic Beach. I loved that they had a big enough round table inside that we could all sit together. The menu had a good variety. My husband had the Bicen Burger and I had the Pulled Pork and both were tasty. Be sure and try the different sauses they offer. The owner/manager came out and spoke with us and that was a super, nice personal touch. All in all it was a positive experience and we would visit again!

Just go here. You will not be disappointed. The vegan options literally taste better than the "real" thing. The menu has options for everyone and the theme is super unique and memorable. There is long astroturf inside and out! Well worth the trip from Daphne.

Had a good meal. I had the brisket Manwich, which tasted great, but I would’ve been better off getting the brisket plate, which my wife got. I think you get a lot more for the same price. I really enjoyed the raspberry lemonade as well. Several options for BBQ sauce as well. The only issue that I had was that there was only one person taking orders. She was great, and answered any and all questions, provided suggestions, etc, but it took quite a while to order. But that was literally the only thing I could really complain about. It was clean and a nice change from all of the sea food options.

The girl at the register was rude. She didn’t greet anyone or ask if we were ready. She stared until someone finally walked up and she still just stared with an annoyed face. The food took a while to be brought out and it came out at different times. I ordered a pulled chicken sandwich for 16$ and when I got it there was bones in it. The only positive thing about this place is the decorations.

To start out, I do want to say the food was fairly good. I had the brisket sandwich, which was tasty. The beans on the side were good but tasted like chili soup. I had the elote corn (1 cob for $7) which was delish. Now for the reasons for only 3 stars 1. I ordered a pineapple mojito and received watermelon. After taking the first sip, I immediately got up to go to the bar to exchange it. Stood there and was passed by THREE employees and was never acknowledged, for about 5-7 minutes. Just sat down and powered through the watermelon (which I hated, TBH) 2. Food took FOREVER. 35 minutes, I know because I checked the time on the receipt. It’s BBQ. And for those that don’t know, it isn’t smoked to order, lol. So why the wait?? 3. Appetizers served at the same time as the main course. 4. The elote was good, but it was 1 ear of corn and cost $7 5. The coleslaw is terrible Decent food in desperate need of better execution.

The pier was a short walk on the beach from our hotel. It did cost $3.00 per person to walk further down the pier but it was worth it! What a beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico. You can fish from the pier and they also have a gift shop. I highly recommend visiting here!

The BBQ pulled pork was good. The Baked Beans definitely aren't southern style and potatoes salad was strange and didn't taste right. My daughter got the shrimp skewers. Overcooked and cold. She had to return them. 2 of us got sick within 3 hours of eating and still sick this morning. Great service and staff, But the food needs attention. I will stick with DinnerBell BBQ from now on.

Service, decor, atmosphere, food taste and quantity, staff and facility are solid 5-star. We've been here a few times and it's been the same every time. Absolutely fabulous. The beverages are all prepared, not just poured. Red sangria, mimosa...fabulous. Fresh squeezed orange as it's made. So good. The smoked meats and the vegan meats are equally yummy. It is easily our favorite hometown restaurant. Whether visiting here or a resident, if you haven't eaten here, you've missed out. Did I say 5-stars?!

We would probably just go back to our fave - Moe's BBQ in Orange Beach next time. This is not a traditional BBQ place and smoothies and vegan entrees seemed out of place.

The pit boss here knows what's up!! Ribs are fall-off-the-bone juicy! I got the last 1/4lb of the brisket for the day and it was still tender, juicy, and flavorful. No sauce even necessary! They didn't have the full pound I ordered so he bought out a sample of ribs and wings with it. Great service! Great food! Will certainly be back!

—Missouri!!— If you haven’t been here you are missing out! I loved the back yard feel to this place! It makes me wish we had this in Missouri! Best bbq I have ever had. The staff was amazing. It was super busy but we didn’t wait long at all. I loved that we could play the game sorry as we waited. I hadn’t played that since I was a kid! I ate the picnic manwich with the brisket. OMG. Melt in your mouth. My son loved the foosball table. We plan to go back another day while on this trip.

Very expensive for such a basic concept. This is a walk up order joint, not serviced. The pulled chicken and chicken wings were WAY over cooked. Basic sides with nothing to make them stand out except the price. Very good pulled pork, but 1/4 of my serving was fat. Save your money and go somewhere that has better BBQ.

We went there last night with our family of 6. (4 month old, 7, 9, and 12 year olds) Atmosphere is very friendly and original. We loved it! Everyone was very friendly and helpful! Food was excellent! It’s so nice to have an option that is not deep fried. While we waited we played board games from their collection. We highly recommend this little treasure.

This is the absolutely most disgusting food I have ever eaten in gulf shores. I ordered the beach bowl with Maui Maui. The rice in the dish was hard as a rock and the rest of the bowl was completely unseasoned and bland! The other food we ordered was the barbecue chicken sandwich which they should be ashamed to call that barbecue! The coleslaw taste like they dumped a cup of vinegar in it. The amount of food we received for $30 was shameful to say the least. If I could give this place a 1/16 of a star I would. They will never have my business again ever!

Great BBQ! The brisket bowl and grilled salmon were excellent. We also tried the super dragon and Bahama Breeze with Rum both were very good. Only problem I had was this place was short staffed or just not prepared for the spring break crowd and really backed up on orders the day we went. We had to wait for our drinks forever and couple people from my group never got theirs. We had to ask couple of times to see if they were even being made. I could tell these guys were really trying to catch up. I know places have their bad day since I was a server for many yrs. This would not stop me for giving them another try.

The wings and drinks were good. The ribs were supposed to be their specialty, but were overcooked so much they were hardened into jerky on the thin edge. The ribs were over-sauced as well. I liked the potato salad which had dill in it, as well as the beans which had leftover BBQ in them. Stick to the healthy dishes here. There are places to get unhealthy food all over Gulf Shores, this is not one of them though.

Best food in Gulf Shores, period. We ate 14 meals at restaurants during our vacation this week and now I know we made 13 mistakes. The menu is so good and the atmosphere is even better. There is fake grass / field turf on the floor! So cool. There's also a parking garage under the building to keep your car out of the sun. Two in our party got ribs and they were amazing. The meat was perfect. Get two sides of mac and cheese with whatever you order because the first one will make you order another anyways. I had a Beach Body Wellness smoothie. I'm so happy that they make real smoothies. Best of all, for vegans and vegetarians and anyone who just likes good tasting food, they have The Impossible Burger and it does not disappoint. Go to this place on your first day of vacation so you have a chance to make more visits during the week. Our only regret is that we waited until our last night to eat here.

The meat was smoky and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The sauces we're good, and I loved the variety of sides. One small thing, add some meat combo choices. I really wanted some Conecuh sausage as well as pork. I was told I would have to order two combos to do that. I stuck with pork (and it was awesome), will try some other meats next trip down.

The WORST customer service. The girl at the cash register (glasses, braids, nose ring on Sunday) made sure she finished with her text message a good 30 seconds before taking my order. When she finally did look up she said nothing and just stared. She rudely let me know the table number she gave me was “more of an order number than a table number” even though we were brought our food (as was everyone else) by a nice employee. The food was good. Not good enough to deal with the entitled employee though. Won’t be back.

Top notch BBQ from a unique establishment. Some of the best baked beans I've ever had. Would skip the mac and cheese; weird texture to the noodles. If you've ever wanted to try vegetarian BBQ (jackfruit) then this is definitely for you. Also be sure to try the infused waters and smoothies.

The husband got brisket burger and sweet potato fries and they were also amazing! Daughter got mac and cheese and fruit bowl and the fruit was fresh and mac and cheese wasn't Kraft lol it was good!

This place offers the full-tummy experience, combined with a casual Alabama atmosphere. The brisket with potato salad (not a big fan of the coleslaw, but a big fan of the brisket) and Alabama BBQ sauce was a hit with me. Yes, you park underneath the building and it has turf floors, just as was advertised. It's a unique dining experience you'll always associate with Gulf Shores. With plenty of healthy choices on the menu too. #BBQ #family

Food was so delicious. We got the family basket that was $65 to feed 4-6 ppl. It was 4 of us and we were definitely full. The grill master came out to check on us also. It was a great experience with a great view. I'm only giving 4 because the side of the building advertises seafood but there was not a big seafood selection for my step mom.

Our cycling team stopped by an hour before close to grab dinner. We have a whole mix of dietary restrictions, including vegan and gluten free, and there were so many delicious options none of us felt we were compromising. The food was delicious, the chef came out to talk to us and was super friendly! Everything is reasonably priced for the quality. We were back by the next day for lunch!

I really wanted to like this place, as the staff was friendly and the place is nicely decorated. However, $13 for a small Picnic Rib PoBoy, with what seemed like one rib (with part, not all, of the bone still in, which was confusing), was a bit ridiculous. The beans were good. It was a Saturday night, but not so busy, as the place wasn't packed.

As a vegan I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. I ate here twice during my short stay at the beach because it was so satisfying and I had options. The vegan ranch is amazing with the cauliflower wings and the vegan burger was delicious! Sad it won’t be in Tennessee.

Love this place. Incredible barbecue, brisket, smoothies, great location. Have vegetarian options too which is great. The local craft beer on tap (while a bit limited) is also delicious. Oh, they also play good music (Dave Mathews, OAR, Tom Petty, Mumford, etc). Basically, not your typical southern bbq joint or overpriced tourist trap.

Second time here and my husband and I were beyond excited to get the same burger we had the last time (Beyond/Impossible Burger) but mine was unfortunately cold. Not just "not hot", but literally (and sadly) cold. I didn't finish it but also didn't feel comfortable bringing it back since I had already eaten a few bites and didn't want to cause any problems. While my husband didn't mind, I was pretty disappointed during this visit since we had building up our expectations all week (this was our last food destination before leaving). The fries were good, cashier was nice, and the overall atmosphere was great, my meal just didn't satisfy me like I expected it to.

This place was pretty good. One of the best places we have been to. It looks really cool because they have grass on the floor which looked pretty cool. There were also these really good sauces that I had and I loved all of them. There is also a wide variety on the menus and anything you get will be pretty good. I also played a board game while we waited for our food which was awesome. I would totally recommend going here if you are in the area.

Prior to visiting this establishment on 07/06/19, I read a number of reviews. I thought it would be a great place to visit on my vacation. However, I would give this restaurant a poor rating based on a number of factors. Firstly, it took approximately an hour to receive my take-out order. Secondly, after getting to my condo, I realized that the order was incomplete. My husband and I went back to get the rest of our order. When we finally were able to eat the food, the beyond burger was not good, the wings were under cooked, and we received regular fries instead of sweet potato fries. I do not plan on eating there again even though the smoothies were good.

Excellent stop for smoked wings. We got an order of 50 and a couple sides then ate family style. They have a nice selection of sauces. Try the Alabama white bbq sauce. It is excellent. Very reasonable prices too.

We had to wait 30 minutes for a seat which was fine and service was great but the food was not seasoned properly and I felt like it was missing something. I ordered the seafood pasta and the sauce was too runny, brocolli and onions were uncooked. It felt like everything was just thrown on top of the pasta. I’m surprised by my experience compared to all these raving reviews but wow we’re we disappointed. First, we were directed to sit down until we were ready to order with no one in line behind us. Ok. While we order the girl behind the counter got increasingly rude and I’m not sure why.. one family’s member wanted an adult size of a kids meal which seemed to be a big issue but then wasn’t because some of the children sides aren’t listed as adult sides but they’re still sides? They were out of the bison burger which is whatever but was informed by the girl that I should have known that. I didn’t order drinks at the time of the order to keep them off the payers bill. I went to the “bar” to order a drink stood awkwardly by a another girl employee who ignored me for 5 mins then someone took my order. Mad a huge hassle about IDing me. I guess I look very young but also made me get my girlfriends ID too because I got 2 drinks. Can’t order 2 drinks at a “bar” on vacation I guess. Food comes out. It’s wrong the guy bringing the food out says “unless it was put in wrong in the computer that’s what you ordered” but he’s going to check. No fallow up but if we ordered wrong ok but we’re 100% knowing we ordered correctly. The beef brisket bowl is pathetically small and the Mac and cheese is bone dry. Music is loud enough that you can’t hear the person across from you at a table. The drinks aren’t sweet at all which is part of the healthy vegan gluten free ect environment they have.. which is whatever but still gross and $20 I’ll never get back. Food was good when it’s right. It was funny watching the guy bring food out and ignore our table. He looked very uncomfortable all over baked beans. Wish it was still reds and I can’t believe I wrote this long review but wanted to help ya if possible.

This place is a gem! It’s a much needed change to a beach town with almost the same type of food and atmosphere everywhere else. They are reasonably priced, perfectly portioned and have something for everyone. It’s all wholesome, fresh and delicious. If you don’t know about an item on the menu or how it might taste, be sure to ask! The staff is very friendly. We ordered the margarita, bison burger, sweet potato fries, and the chopped salad with jackfruit and grilled shrimp.

Picnic Beach has the best pulled pork, I have ever tasted. I was in Orange Beach for 3 days and we ended up going twice. It was just that good. The sauces are awesome too. I luv it!!!!

Picnic beach is such a refreshing oasis in a desert of deep fried fish fillets. They have great healthy options of real food. They provide a great atmosphere. The grass floor is u like anything I’ve ever seen. I love it. As far as the food, good portions and presented well.

Finding a restaurant that serves more than one vegan option can be tricky, so I was blown away when we found picnic beach! I was on cloud 9! The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. The staff was curteous, and the food was phenomenal! I do wish they would have had more vegan friendly options for kids, but I ended up ordering adult meals for them. We will absolutely be back next year—Highly recommend!

Just not happy with our meal. We both had the picnic dogs. They cost as much as most burgers on the island. It tasted good, but it wasn't worth $12. At $12, the meat should outsize the bun. The mac and cheese was mostly mac and very little cheese. We were sorely disappointed.

$12 vegan burger, yay, extra for avacado, not yay, w/yum potato salad, (but small burger compared to mammoth ones elsewhere @ spendy beach). $12 side + vegan hot dog (barely warm) had delicious fried onions atop, but skimpy amount for price. Served in paper trays. Excellent mustard bbq sauce. Sweet potato mash was grossly stringy. (There are hacks for that!) Replaced happily w/sweet potato fries thankfully. Had to ask for receipt and even then, didn't include the itemized one. Counter person not very welcoming, bordered on being bothered. Order delivery person was helpful and cheerful. With their fake green grass carpet and picnic tables and lots of table games n blankets, vibe is casual, like you're eating in your backyard. block off beach, can see water! (until someone builds in front of them.) Great to think you could be on the beach and have your picnic delivered. Great covered parking under the place. (converted beach house?)
