Great food and cool to learn all the history behind it.
Pretty mediocre hot dog. Onion rings were good though!
Best hot dog and secret chili sauce on the planet!
Excellent food. Friendly atmosphere.
Absolutely stop by if you're in town. The owner Gus is a wealth of knowledge about the town and an absolute joy to speak to. Prices are incredibly reasonable. Chicken veggie soup was delicious, and that chili sauce!! Worth the trip from Alaska.
Awesome!!! They've been around for over 100 years and still just as good as the first time I ate there. Hot dogs, my favorite, all the way.
This places is great!!! Food and service was excellent!!! Also must add my 17 year old son lost his wallet in the booth while we was there and the waiter helped us look for it until it was found!!! Some of the nicest people you will ever meet!!! Thank you!!! When back in Montgomery will definitely stop back in!!!
Its always great
Not what I expected as a tourist but the service was fast, prices are fair, and sides are all tasty.
Can you freeze the sauce??
The best hot dog you will ever have! The staff is always welcoming and friendly! Well worth the drive.
Great authentic burgers, hotdogs, fries, and onion rings. The dipping sauce is amazing. Will definitely stop in again when we come through.
Yummmmmmy as always.
Best hotdogs in the south.
I don’t visit Montgomery without a stop at Chris’. Sometimes I even get relatives to bring me some in a cooler when they visit NC. You just can’t beat the mixture of dogs and burgers grilled on a 100 year old skillet, kraut and the ever so special sauce. And so much history to boot.
It's ok. But for the thin slab of meat and the tiny hotdog it should have been way less than $12.
A great old hotdog
They need to replace the seats at the tables good is great service is fast and efficient and friendly
We came here for lunch to get their hotdogs. Their food is pretty alright. It is roughly the same quality as a Steak and Shake. The flavor was pretty good and worth a try! I don't think I'll make the trip back.
Delicious as ever! They were super busy when we there so service was a little scattered but those ladies are awesome, nonetheless! A true Montgomery fixture!
Not good, to me. The chili was watered down and bland. The prices were too high for the quality of food.
Great place to eat but hot dogs wasn't good
If you have not been there. .and you want the total experience. ...trust me. Drink chocolate milk with your hot dog all the way and crisp fries. It used to come on a glass bottle with a hole punched in the top and a straw....60 years ago. This is good stuff!!!
First time trying a local legend. It most definitely wasn’t what I expected but it was so good. Service was great and so fast. The “Chris’ Sauce” makes for a messy but delicious dinner.
What an awesome, historic gem in downtown Montgomery! Food and service were on point...not something you’ll find every day. Great value too!
Can't beat the atmosphere and HISTORY, plus the food and service is GREAT....MUST VISIT IF YOU'RE GOING TO VISIT MONTGOMERY!
Love the sauce and waitress makes my day she had 5 tables at one time went down the line took orders didnt write the orders down had in her head
Chris's hotdogs, hamburgers and fries are awesome!!! The chili sauce they make themselves is spicy hot but great!!
Love this place. Great hot dogs and hamburgers. The place seems to be full all the time but they are fast and the food came out on less than 15 min. Great service. It may seem a little old looking but the place has been there since 1917. It's very inexpensive. Hot dog and hamburger combos for $8 includes a drink and fries. A must visit place when in Montgomery.
I love Chris Hot Dogs. They have been here for a LONG time. It does not take a long time to get your orders. One thing that is hard to do here, is flagging down a server if you need anything else, like refills of your drink. But, it is because the server is always busy and fast paced taking orders from other tables. You can also order and eat at the front counter, which is better. They also need to have a better A/C here, because it gets really hot sometimes, with all the human bodies.
Middle of the road food and prices, not enough staff
Outstanding food! Friendly service!!
Excellent, highly recommended, can't miss this stop!
Food wasn’t bad, the place was kind of small and stuffy. The onion rings and fries were hot and fresh. Maybe my expectations were too high coming into it because of all the raving reviews everyone told me about. I’d probably come again if I was invited but I probably wouldn’t choose to come here on my own accord just because I’m not one for greasy food and standard American cheese. Also we did have a big group and I started out worried because the waiter was like “I can only take 3 drink orders at a time” and at one point we ordered 2 waters and he forgot what the order was (2 waters)
Great local spot so much history some much chili dogs in one place and it don't even cost no extra
Hot diggity Dog! This place is so great. We took a detour to go here since my husband used to stop here visiting family in Montgomery. I ate here for the first time. I dont even like kraut but loved the dog. The burgers are my favorite, though. They are tender and practically melt in your mouth. Its SPECTACULAR. Chris's sauce really takes it to a new level. It did not disappoint. I'll go out of my way again just for a bite of this food.
Cannot beat the price! Great food, excellent service and Gus tells some amazing historical stories along with family stories about Hank Williams. A staple to any trip to Montgomery.
The taste has not changed since my youth.
Just moved here from Boston MA and was recommended to me by a friend. It was a great suggestion. Dine in and take out options
Best hot dogs I've ever had. And such an interesting place! Definitely worth a visit.
Hotdogs were really good. A lot of history
Nice little quaint hole in the wall rest. Staff very friendly and accommodating
I can see why it has been around for as long as it has.
Love Chris’s. Affordable. Most the staff is friendly. Time passed it by. Parking can be an issue around lunch.
Our server wouldn't stay still long enough to properly take my order. Brought me wrong food and refilled my drink with wrong drink
Unique place but nothing special
Love it! Will be a customer till the day I die.
These hot dogs are great and I'm addicted to the sauce now. The hamburgers were good as well. I can't wait till I'm biking thru the area again.
Great food and great, friendly service!
I love their hot dogs with their special sauce. I have been buying them for years.
Old school eatery. Great food. Low prices.
I've been going here since I was a child, with my parents. Love the atmosphere and family feeling, friendly service and good food.
Pretty mediocre hot dog. Onion rings were good though!

Bern awhile since I've been here and the food is delicious just how I remember it! Was happy to see some friendly familiar faces again as well. Will be back again!
This place has bee there for years. Really fast and good service and hard to beat the hamburgers and hot dogs!
I may be a little bias, because I grew up eating here, but I have loved their hamburgers since I was a kid. They are very unique and 2 with an order of fries is a great meal for me, that and a couple of glasses of their delicious sweet tea. A true landmark eatery in Montgomery right down the street from the state Capitol.
They've been there for over 100 years so they are doing something right. We loved Chris', the food, ambiance, service, history. Favorite of Hank Williams.
A Montgomery classic. Fast and delicious. I prefer the cheeseburger over the hotdogs.
Food is good...just need a thorough cleaning/remodeling.
Chris' is a place that has been in my memory since I was a toddler. My grandfather owned a car lot a few blocks away even before I was born. My dad was a regular and loved this place and took us as kids, even after we had moved to Florida. My grandmother Leila worked there and used to take my uncle Louis to work with her. One regular customer would always go to her booth in the back to play a little guitar for her. His name was Hank Williams. He had a radio show he would play at the station located in the old Jeff Davis Hotel. He would also play at the theater my mom worked at, the Paramount. To this day we stop in each time we go back to Montgomery to visit family and just to keep the Alabama clay in our blood. No matter how old the place gets, I still love a Chris' Hot Dog. I have turned a few people from Orlando on to it if they ever visit Montgomery.
Good food...great service
Best chili dogs ever. If you haven't been here you are missing out
Food and location have that nostalgia that really takes you back. Best staff and conversation you can have. The menu is simple and straight forward but the best you can get. It's good old American food.
Great food, service, good price and unique atmosphere.
World famous hotdogs!!! So yummy!
Love this place. It's not healthy dining, but the cheeseburger is great!
Food was great although one young man looked all over us as if we didn't exist but the lady that's been there for 45 years made up for it the owner was pleasant spoke with us before we left I will go again
Great place to visit with delicious food and great staff. Not bad for 102 yrs old ( 1917 ).
Great service, tasty food!
Don't go at noon! Even on Saturday, Chaos in a small space. It was our first trip to the historic site, food was okay, service was horrible.
Red hot dogs, small burgers, but friendly staff, excellent service and quaint shop
It's an old historic place. A different twist on hot dogs and burgers.. a little messy, but it was good food. The staff members were polite and my server went above and beyond what I expect from a server even in up scale places. I was please with the experience. No complaints
Loved it. They were so very nice. And the Dusty cricket spice was delicious.
Diner style landmark eatery in Montgomery. Very old establishment, food is priced well. Service is quick. Plenty of seating. Sauce is great! Order line gets cramped.
Great Hotdogs. The sauce is really good
Been going since I was a kid and am 71 now. The dogs, the burgers, the chicken salad, the chicken strips, the homemade chicken vegetable soup, the fries, the onion rings, I could go on and on but I suggest you try them you can't go wrong.
Love Chris’ Famous Hotdogs!
If you’re in downtown Montgomery, this is the place to stop. Best hot dogs ever! The chili sauce is amazing. Service there was also quick and efficient. The place is very run-down, but the food makes up for it. Highly recommended!
I don't care for their sauce but the food is pretty good.
The food was good for a great price. Service was excellent, the waitress made sure we has refills even well after we had our bill.
Nice cozy little spot to visit and get a burger!
First time there yesterday. Everyone was so nice the food was fast. It tasted awesome. Awesome customer service! Bringing back the rest of my family soon! Loved it
Everyone liked the hot dogs well enough. Nothing eye-popping or wildly delicious, but just a good, solid dog. They remind me very much of the red dogs popular in the Carolinas. No casing, disconcerting bright pink color...yum. My parents thought Chris's sauce was unique, sweeter than they were expecting, but enjoyable.
As always, great food and great customer service! Thanks y'all!
I had never been here before. It's a bit different. Very nice place staff is nice friendly and eager to serve. Food comes to the table hot. It stayed during our visit. If you like hamburger and hotdogs this is your place.

This place is historic, and for good reason. They have the best hotdogs and hamburgers. Lots to read and look at on the walls. All the surroundings are the same from the 1950's. (That's a guess on my part, but NOTHING has been updated except the television and the juke box. Do not miss Chris' if you are in town!
It's okay if you're an fan of bama only employee brags before the big game and jinxed bama. But the food is really great though.
Place needed a good cleaning, but before then, hotdogs amd hamburgers were the best ever!
Pretty good. Always had coworkers talk about it, some positive some negative, but from my experience it was pretty good. Cheap prices, pretty good food, lots of history. The amount of onion rings they give is crazy! Just wish the hot dogs were a little bigger. You'll definitely need to at least get one side if you only get a hot dog or else you might still be hungry. I wouldn't hesitate to go back if some friends were going.
They food not all that he serve pink hot dogs lol what a rip off for that
Great Hot dogs and chicken tenders. Great service.
One-of-a-kind unique atmosphere, total friendliness, and superb service AND delicious hot dogs!
Great service, food exceptional and hot, eyes are always bigger than the stomach. Absolutely a must go when passing through Montgomery with easy access from I65.
The food is great. It is obvious why the restaurant has been around for so long.
Was told by a friend to try it and I would recommend it if you are in Montgomery
Outstanding food from a place that has served everyone from hank Williams to sitting presidents. The chili sauce is a bit sweet but balances perfectly with the salty dog and sour kraut. Do yourself a favor and ignore the cleanliness and enjoy some good food.
It's a local favorite. It has good food. The burger and dogs have a home cooked taste to them that beats your McD's there. It's a good stop for a quick bit without the fanfare.
Love the food and service needs a little cleaning
I love this place. The best hamburgers, hot dogs, and home made chili. They people who work there are the friendliest and caring.
Chris's hotdogs has been in business for over a hundred years! The quality of the food and service is exactly what you would from expect a centennial business from down in Alabama. Great food and great prices and rich in history as it sits in the middle of downtown Montgomery. This is the epitome of southern quality food. 10/10 would recommend.
There is a reason they have been around for 102 years and Presidents have visited here! Prices are amazing and it's definitely a local's favorite!
A nice whole in the wall place. Our order came quickly and the hot dog was good.
No casing, disconcerting bright pink color...yum. My parents thought Chris's sauce was unique, sweeter than they were expecting, but enjoyable. It is small and you need to get there before noon for seating and parking. We did notice some unappealing bugs but I guess you're gonna get that in such an old building. I would advise maybe one trip for the history experience.
A model of consistency. Their food is the same(and just as good) as it was 30 years ago for me and 60 years ago for my parents. A meal like no other
Very good hotdogs but very weird place. It has a great story behind it and several past presidents have ate there. Now it is kindof run down. The waitress told us she doesn't have all day for us to look at the menu and was kindof hateful. The guy who got us drinks only took two orders at a time because if he took more he would forget. At one time we ordered 2 waters and he brought a milk and a pepsi. Overall good food and it came very quick.
I live out of the country now and every time I’m back in Montgomery, I visit Chris’. My spouse and I came every chance we could between our travels. It was so special to chat with the owners and staff and hear stories from my Grandad about how he would take his lunch breaks at Chris’ back in the day. The people here became our friends - Gabe and I can’t wait to come back!
Aw man... I've had burgers from dives before. I have plenty, if you've seen me you'd know I'm a man that knows my way around a greezy burger. The chili burger was off the chain, sloppy, greezy, exactly what you would expect. The atmosphere is still that old diner feel, with the bar stools and no real instructions when you walk in. The bar is packed and so is the rest of the place. The service was spot on, she handle the order and told us what was good, she made it feel as if she had been there since 1917. Overall, great food, service, atmosphere, and experience!
This place is great! Great hot dogs, great milkshakes and its great priced! So glad i decided to eat there tonight!
Authentic, orginal great tasting food! Would definitely recommend!
Nice experience for a classic combo of fries and hot dog. Place looks like is stopped in time what makes it really cool for a visit specially if you are walking to Dexter Church.
The history is interesting and the ambiance is too. The hot dog mediocre. Hamburger not that good. Fries were unseasoned. Onion rings were very good. They do seem to work hard in there and prices weren't bad 10 of us ate for about 60 bucks. It is small and you need to get there before noon for seating and parking. We did notice some unappealing bugs but I guess you're gonna get that in such an old building. I would advise maybe one trip for the history experience.

Nice experience for a classic combo of fries and hot dog. Place looks like is stopped in time what makes it really cool for a visit specially if you are walking to Dexter Church.
the owner and the staff here are amazing, stepped in for a dog, ended up spending over an hour. the stories and history we learned where worth the stop alone, but then the food and prices are amazing. if you are in Montgomery you gotta check this place out, you will feel like you have known everyone your whole life, very welcoming
Chili on the hot dogs were little bit spicier than I remember but the food was good service was good
I absolutely love the food and staff at Chris's, you guys are great.
You have to go check these guys out! Food is delicious! We had the hotdog and hamburger with fries. Try this combo. Sounds like a lot of food, but it is just right. If you don't do onions or maybe just don't want them for lunch, be sure to ask to Hold them. Both have chili sauce on them and dog has sourkraut on it. Fries were hot and dang good. Servers are very personal and move fast.
Awesome, authentic old school hot dog experience! Love the standard mustard, onion, sauce.
Food was good, but service was awful. The service started out well, but then the waitress could not remember what we ordered, did not write it down, and repeated it back incorrectly. After she delivered our food with the order not 100% correct, we were basically ignored by her. We asked for a check, drink refills, and to-go boxes 2 to 3 times. She said she'd be right back and continued to walk past our table and do nothing. We finally stopped another waitress and asked her to help us. Our waitress finally decided to help us and still could not remember exactly what we ordered to get the check correct, which had to be calculated twice. We think it was correct the second time. It seemed that other tables who had different wait staff did much better than we did. I would tell you to go for the food and the face that they have been there 100 years, cool, but I would think twice about gong back again myself due to the poor service in the end and it taking 15 or more minutes to get out check so we could leave.
Get a bite of history in this place. This is the quick service restaurant of your grandparents generation. Don't let the age fool you, it's clean. If you are in Montgomery don't miss this. Get at least one hot dog all the way and a burger. If you have fries ask for extra chili sauce for dipping.
Old school diner vibe. Decent burgers and dogs.
Awesome as always. Really busy today, but we found seats at the end of the counter. Quickly served. Great place.
Very popular hot dog place with some very interesting history. Several U.S. Presidents have been here.
The hotdogs were amazing!! My server was awesome also! I told him it was my first time there and made some great suggestions on what I should order. I had the chili hotdogs with fries and I can’t wait to head back down to Montgomery to get them again!
History, cheap and delicious hot dogs, what more could one want?!
Disappointed, i have always heard how good this place was. The hot dogs were nothing special at all, very disappointed
They have the best hotdogs in town
The food was great the people were nice and the owner was nice to let us hear the history of the building
I got the chicken finger plate which comes with fries. I think that is the best value. I also got a Chris' hot dog which was not something I would order again. Overall, a fun, historic venue, and a good place for lunch.
I'm so sorry but I hate to tell yall the place that as been I business since 1917 has fall off today or in less people enjoy eating nasty food. I will say the hot dog itself and the burger meat was really good, but the sauerkraut they put on my dog was so old and water down taste to it. It had no flavor or crisp to it at all. The famous chili was not so famous with me either, matter of fact is was down right horrible. The burger was the size of a crystal burger patty on a regular sized buns, which was hard by the way(the buns, both burger and hotdogs). Where they prepared the burgers and hotdogs was so nasty. Chili was all over the walls, hot dog was just everywhere. They was even touching the meat with there bare hands, no gloves at all, then going to casher register ringer up customers then back to cooking. I was so disgusted I throw my food out the window on the way home. Health services really need to go and review this place. I will never go there again
Amazing hot dogs. Burgers are ok.
Best service I've ever seen in fast food. Period.
Maybe the hype made me think I was going to get the best hotdogs ever, but they're pretty average. The sauce is pretty good though! And I did enjoy eating a such a historic location.
Had I not known this place had a hundred years of history, I would give it two stars. Very ordinary pork hotdogs, with an okay chili-like sauce, a tiny bit of sauerkraut, and store-bought tasting buns. French fries okay, nothing special. Onion rings looked yummy, so maybe I chose wrong. Place had a somewhat greasy, old establishment feel to it.
The hotdogs and onion rings are the best ever. The lemon pie is light and refresh8ng. The pecan pie is very sweet but good. The service was fast and friendly.
Had an amazing experience here! My boyfriend and I stopped by and was greeted by the most energetic and outgoing server. He made us feel very welcome, made great suggestions, and kept up a very entertaining conversation. The food was delicious as well! The chili sauce is amazing and the seasoning that was on the table made our fries even better! Definitely a great stop in Montgomery! Also, whoever our server was, thank you for a great time and thank you for working hard and doing an awesome job!
Best hotdogs and onion rings in town
Chris's Hot Dogs was an awesome and authentic hot dog spot, it has been around since 1912. This place has a lot of history with amazing food and staff to boot!!!
Small, locally owned. Oldest restaurant in Montgomery. Delish hotdogs!
Best dog & burger around
Burgers are great with the famous sauce. But I killed a cockroach that was crawling on the floor as I waited on my order.
Great chili dogs. The ambience is the best. Hank William's favorite restaurant.
Don't think I have actually eaten here in like 35-40 years before today. It is such a neat place with amazing history. Every so often most offices' in this area have someone bring a bag of Chris's hotdogs in and they are always tasty, but it is nothing like dining in here. I was and am very surprised how good it all is, wow is all I can say. Go there and get ya some!
Love there dogs and burgers. Iconic place to visit.
Always has the best hotdogs and burgers
A Montgomery staple. Great hamburgers. Can be quite crowded at lunch.
It was ok. Very disorganized front counter, food was ok not great. Staff was nice.
Good service, good hotdogs, good prices need I say more.
Great hot dogs and service
Very good, great service and fast. Pretty cheap as well. You will need change for the meter if you park on the street!
I've been eating here for 47 years and my Momma much longer than that! We love Chris' Hot Dogs! The food is always awesome, every now & then there might b a lil wait, but it's worth it! Wonderful, always friendly staff! A MUST to go eat place!
Awesome food and excellent service.
Great food and awesome waitress
A bit of really friendly service with history at historic prices.
It was good but wasn't what it was built up to be
the owner and the staff here are amazing, stepped in for a dog, ended up spending over an hour. the stories and history we learned where worth the stop alone, but then the food and prices are amazing. if you are in Montgomery you gotta check this place out, you will feel like you have known everyone your whole life, very welcoming
Fantastic. One of my favorite places to eat in the Gump. The staff couldn't be friendlier.
