Champy’s is the best restaurant in the shoals to go to! My family, my friends, and I have been going there for my birthday for a couple years now and it is the best! We get the family pack and boy is it good! It has 20 piece’s of chicken, all of their sauces, and a ton of fries...we love it! You can pick any sides that you want. We didn’t have to wait that long for our food and it was quick and fresh! The chicken was so tender and tasted so good! It had a really good seasoning and the sauces were amazing! This year, I turned 14 and we told our waitress that it was my birthday. She made a point to wish me happy birthday! The owner also came out and told me happy bday which I thought was super polite and cool. They also let me try crawfish for the first time and it was so good! Our waitress showed me how to eat it. Their employees are amazing and super quick at getting all of the food to the table. I really recommend going to this place with your friends or family. It’s a very cozy and comfortable atmosphere to hang out in.They have a pretty good choice of food on the menu and I really enjoy this place!

Fried jalapenos were amazing... just don't order them if you don't have a group to eat them... wow, it was a big basket. The fried chicken with the spicy was amazing. The mac & cheese was better than most. My wife ordered chicken on a stick from the snack menu, because she wasn't that hungry. Oh my! I expected a chicken tender on a skewer... wrong! It was the length of her forearm and included some tasty surprises. She brought most of it back to the hotel for later. Great food. Great service. Love the atmosphere.

Had a fried chicken salad. Was very good and fresh. Waitress was nice and friendly and attentive to us. There was a live band until after 11 pm that was fun to listen too as well. Nice easy casual evening out tonight. Really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you very much.

I was proud to find out our waitress is a Veteran, since I am a 21 year Veteran and served in the Iraqi War and also a Disabled War Veteran. I told her that I was proud of her for her service. The food was good and she gave us extremely good service. Her name was Ashley. Go by there and try their food and drinks. They are good.

Just got up and walked out at 6:55pm 5-1-2019. We were told sit anywhere we would like, we chose to sit outside. There were about 10-20 other tables among us eating. We sat down and waited 10 minutes before we made the decision to leave. Nobody came to our table, took our drink order, nothing!!! We watched 2 servers pass our table 4 times to wait on a table about two feet away from where we were sitting. Needless to say it will be a good while if ever that I go back. So sad to have such a bad experience in my hometown.

Probably the best fried chicken I've ever had. The mashed potatoes were homemade and really good. The fried pickle spears were AMAZING! Finished it off with the strawberry cake and key lime pie. Yummy!

The food was good....once we finally received it. My co-workers and I went on our lunch break. We waited 25 minutes for our order - which was chicken stew...they should only have to ladle out of a pot. I had to ask about our food and then it came out immediately. The waitress sat the food down and never even said a word. I had to call her back to place a to go order which took another 25 minutes to get ready. We were 15 minutes late for our lunch break - no one apologized and the waitress kept giving bad looks. All around rude - we will not go back here again.

This is a wonderful place to eat, the staff is friendly and professional,the bartender will remember your name and what you like to order. The owner will say hello and ask how things are if he's there. The wings are awesome and made to order. I especially like the fried jalapeno slices. They have great live music and a great atmosphere to boot. I like dining here by myself as well as bringing a group. They have an outdoor covered patio as well as one that is uncovered. The prices are more than reasonable, and if I could give this place 6 Stars, I absolutely would.

This was my first time here which is surprising because I used to live across the street since before Champy's was even there (back when it was a vacant Campbell's restaurant building). They weren't too busy for a weekend but the hostess did let us know up front that they were short staffed so the service was slower than usual. I appreciated the honesty and I'm pretty laid back, rarely in a rush, so I didn't mind waiting. I ordered the chicken tender plate with a side of beans and fries. Everything was delicious and well worth the wait. I will definitely come again.

This is the best food I've had in the Muscle Shoals area. The tamales are the best I've ever had. They are authentic in the husks. The seasoning and sauce are beyond compare. The chicken is also very good and comes with beans and slaw. I substituted mashed potatoes and gravy for the slaw for and upcharge. The beans were boring and the potatoes and gravy were nothing to write home about. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and friendly service.

Visiting brother, I live in Ohio. Firstly not only is every waitress cute, but ours has on 1950s styles glasses. 10/10! As for the food and service, we arrived at peak hours and had INCREDIBLE FOOD and great service. The live band on the patio was also good! Love this place!!

Being from New England we thoroughly enjoyed your Southern cooking! Our family of three dined two nights in a row and had your catfish, fried chicken and grilled chicken with sides. Your desserts (key lime pie, banana pudding, and strawberry cake) are amazing! Generous portions all the way around and served by the sweet and excellent waitress Mary! Consider Champys in NE.

3.5 stars for this visit. The breading was slightly burned on one of the breasts. While the live music was nice, it was too loud even if sitting inside rather than on the patio. The service was great. The server brought waters around while we decided on our beverage choice and then asked if we another round well before the drinks were empty so we wouldn't have been dry before the next round came. If you are looking for a family friendly restaurant with live music and a bar-like atmosphere that serves fried chicken, then give Champy's a try. Side note: the Cole slaw is some of the best I've had.

One star because your serving food thats not cooked right. Youtube has videos one proper process for cooking anything you want to know how to cook. Dont know what went on but you feed alot of folks dirty crawfish. Didnt want to put it out there like that but you wanted an explanation. You have to purge crawfish before you cook them and make sure you get all the mud off of them. Looked like you got them straight out the mud and into the pot. Coming from a cajun girl that knows what they suppose to look like after they are cooked. Hope this is explanation enough.

Great food, excellent service, and local craft beers. I highly recommend stopping in for some bird and beer! I had Clarissa as my waitress and she was great! She was knowledgeable about the menu options and made delicious recommendations. After a plate of wings and a fried chicken snack, I almost skipped dessert. Thanks to her recommendation and description I went ahead with the banana pudding and am very happy I did. I couldn't finish it, but it was delicious ... an old family recipe that was simply decadent and complete with 'nilla wafers. The fried chicken surpassed the hype! It was crispy and flavorful outside and tender and juicy inside. It fell right off the bone. The smoked wings were meaty and full of flavor and the southern slaw is a perfect compliment. All of the waitstaff were welcoming and hospitable. Overall a thoroughly satisfying experience. I will be back!

Worth every calorie. The fried chicken is up there with Gus's in Memphis and Babe's in DFW. But the hot wings... they Might be the best hot wings I've had in my life. Craft beers were great as well. Highly recommended if you're passing through and can only stop at one place.

Champys is literally where you go & order a 4 piece chicken finger basket with all the intentions of eating every single piece and maybe get through 2 & some fries before you go into what I call a food coma from the food being so good & filling! -so my actual review, the staff is wonderful. Servers always have a smile on their face and you never have to go without anything. That is unless you go on a SUPER busy night and they are swamped & you may have to wait like a extra 30 seconds for your refill, but patience is the key ;) but they will do whatever they can for you to make sure your experience is top notch! -the atmosphere is spacious & cozy at the same time, want a little privacy grab a booth, want to feel a cool breeze ask for patio sitting. & They almost always have live music on the weekends. -Wade is a very good at his job, you will almost always see him at least once on your visit. Talking to customers, helping with refills, asking if tables need anything, how their meals are. Socializing & making sure his crew & guests are taken care of at all times. Good management means alot these days. -FRIED FOOD & COLD BEER !! end of discussion. -->Don't think twice about going, just go!

Best fried chicken in the area! They also do southern fried chicken livers better than any restaurant I've ever had! I will say that you will wait a little longer than other places though, because they cook EACH ticket to order. I'm more than happy to oblige that because it ALWAYS comes out fresh, unlike some other chicken chains that I shall not name. Champy's also has a great beer list, domestic and imported. They also have live music on the back patio from time to time. If you want the king of southern comfort food, PLEASE give this place a try.

We were in the area for a weekend trip. We order the 16 piece family and meal. It was really good and way more than enough to fee our group of 4 including 3 adult men. Our waitress, Chloe, was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. She even helped us find other places to visit and eat while we were there.

Five people was in our party. All five of our drinks were empty for over 20 minutes. The chicken had no seasoning. I added salt and pepper and that added some taste to the chicken. The chicken tasted like it was cooked in old grease or grease that was burnt. Let's talk about the sides that come with the chicken. It is mandated that you get Coleslaw and baked beans. If you want a different side you have to pay extra. The taste of the 2 sides were below average. There was a white male with glasses and chubby wearing a Auburn shirt. He was sitting at the bar and would get-up-and-go behind the bar and get himself a Coors Light. This person did that 2 times. That was very unprofessional and if it was an employee that was off duty they should act like a customer. The customer service was so bad the bartender put the Alabama and Auburn game on the television then turned it and after asking to put the game back on, it took over 10 minutes to put it back on the television. What type of establishment would not have the biggest game on? Reply back to the owner/manager. Here are the facts as they happened. (1) The party I was with had 5 people. All 5 people's drinks were empty at the same time. If you think that is good customer service then you should be fired and your business deserves to go out of business because you obviously do not understand what good customer service is. (2) The 2 sides that is mandated that you have tasted below average. (3) Your world famous chicken tasted burnt and had no taste of seasoning. The only taste that the chicken had was of grease that was old or grease that got too hot. (4) The customer that got up twice to go behind the bar to geta Coors Light x2 is breaking Alabama law. Maybe you should read the ABC rules and regulations. And if you do not realize it, that looks unprofessional. (5) What type of establishment does not put on the biggest game in the state of Alabama? Let me teach you about customer service. This is how you should responded. Dear sir, I'm sorry that you had a bad experience at our establishment. We strive to serve the very best food and have the best customer service in the Shoals area. We gladly take our customers feedback and use the information to improve our products, service, and our processes. We ask that you return to our establishment one more time and we ensure that you will receive great customer service and great food. We look forward serving you again. Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to serving you in the future. If you would have done that, I would have gave it a try again and maybe change my review based on the outcome. My review should have been a learning opportunity. Once again, let me clearly state that you do need to change for the following reasons (1) the chicken tasted of old grease (2) the customer service was bad, hence empty glasses for everyone at the table. The waitress came to the table several times but never filled our glasses. A few people I've talked to about your establishment, everyone stated the exact same thing, "the food use to be good and so was the customer service but the food and the service has been going down". It is time that you look in a mirror and take inventory for what's going on in your business. You sir should be saying sorry for our bad experience at your restaurant.

My family went on Sunday night and it was packed full. Live music really added to the experience. The chicken tenders were very moist inside and crispy outside...perfect! And the potato salad was very very good as well. The staff was incredibly attentive and kind. The ambiance of Champy's is unique..sorta like stepping back in time to a 1970's neighborhood bar.

We were not impressed with the food or the service. Waitress stood against the wall with her arms folded most of our visit. We had to actually get up and ask for tea refills and extra sauce. They were Not busy probably only 5 customers were there at the time.

The Champy’s experience starts in the parking lot...great tunes coming out of the place, eclectic decor and vintage signs. Tables and mismatched chairs cozy like your favorite diner. Try to get into the room with the stage- great music from the Fiddleworms when we were there. Fried green tomatoes with ranch were great. Chicken stew rocked, especially on a chilly night. Glad to see grilled chicken fingers as an option- will try that next time.

Working out of town we asked around for recommendations for food and Champy's came up often. Great food and friendly service every time. Be prepared to wait for the fried chicken as it is cooked to order and fresh out of the fryer when you get it but some of the best things in life are worth the wait. Save room for the banana pudding.
