A must stop restaurant in downtown Montgomery. It is part of "The Alley" district in downtown, which is full of shops restaurants, bars, and the Legacy museum.I started off with a 16 oz can of fat orange cat white stout - so good! I wasn't extremely hungry, so I concentrated on the apps. Had the Fett Sow (fat pig) fries. These are thin strips of fried pork belly with a side of peach chutney for dipping - incredibly tasty! Along with this I had the Central fries. These were hand cut fries with a pinch of roasted garlic, parsley, and malt vinegar. Aahhh, such a beautiful thing!I chose to sit outside and dine on this beautiful spring evening. Impeccable service

Wife loved her scallops, and the bone-in pork chop was awesome. Good beer/drink selection, and VERY good service. Sat near the kitchen and you can really see a well run kitchen. Even Gordon Ramsey would probably approve.

We were their for my husbands birthday celebration. Nice restuarent, nice service. But whats all that when your dinner wasnt what you expected. My mistake was not looking at dinner menu first. Way overpriced, didnt have steak sauce, at all. We were still hungry after no ribeye, no, sirloin, nothing but half burnt, shoulder steak. Over cooked fries. I will never go here again. Advise anyone else not to. At your own risk. Nothing under $25 but food was horrible. I didnt want to make a scene but i wanted to let people know from this review. When i dont usually take time to do this. See all the positive comments. But no dont take the risk. Look at menu, which is small portions and not good. Eat first if u go. The bill came $175 way overpriced. For no food on the plate. Dont mind paying if its worth it.

The night was perfect. The meal and the soft shell crab was also perfect. Our waitress did her job extremely well and did not disappoint. Appetizers, entre's, wine, etc great. For Three people $311.00 bill with a good tip. All great. Then one party ordered a cup of decaf coffee for us and they brought an additional $8.00 bill to be paid separate. I said there must be a mistake, surely you are not going to bill another bill for 3 cups of decaf after we paid $311.00 for dinner? Manager said, "Sir, we run a business...." I said, fine, I will pay the additional amount for the coffee...but it ruined our meal. Some things just don't taste right. After all a 20% tip of about $60.00 should have covered 3 cups of decaf.??

This review is based on my experience reserving a private room for a Company Holiday Party. First of all, the reservation experience was superb. Alyssa was awesome... great communication. The problem was the actual event. First, I paid for valet parking for the event because I knew it was going to be raining. However, a few people in our party had to park their own cars because the young men working valet did not know how to drive a stick. The next issue was the bar menu was not even close to what I had chosen and the prices were higher than the paperwork I was given. Our menu choices were salmon or peppercorn crusted ny strip. The salad was extremely small and had no cucumber. Some people had 1 half of 1 cherry tomato in theirs and some people had 3 or 4 halves. It was very inconsistent. All of the food was lukewarm, and the sides were anemic, almost non-existent. I heard several people comment they were going to get something else to eat on the way home. The steak, which was supposed to be peppercorn crusted, was barely even seasoned. At roughly $50 a plate after tax and fees I expected so much better. I was honestly a little embarrassed. The dessert was good, but the coffee had a burnt taste. The room was decorated nicely and the service was good.

Montgomery has a few places that have really good food for those that come from other areas. Specifically for me I'm from San Francisco so not having a variety of food in Montgomery is really a disappointment. Whenever I feel the need for good food I go to Central. You can pretty much get your craving filled here. Don't miss out! They have great selection of beer and wine.

This is an excellent spot for a date or food tasting! Their staff was amazing and surprisingly knowledgeable of their food and very helpful. The food was well worth the price, though it is expensive. Every detail of a dish is thought of. Their Creme brûlée was a highlight for me but those I was dining with raves about the lemon meringue. We were told that their menu was in constant flux. I would be very excited to try this place a gain. It was a little loud for dinner. So, please don’t expect a very intimate setting, even though the ambiance suggests that it would be perfect for a date. Still a great spot especially if you’re a “foodie”.

Definitely a nice place, with nice staff, ambiance, decor, and decent food. Only street parking, and you might have to park down the street a bit. Prices are what you would expect from a fine dining place, which are a little high for Montgomery. The scallops were a little slimy, but everything else was pretty good.

Food was great! My wife and I went there for the first time on today on our 3 year anniversary and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I reserved a table online the day prior and they called me the day of to confirm our reservation and asked if it was for an occasion or if we had any food allergies. I informed them that it was our anniversary and we had no food allergies. When we got there they had a table ready immediately and they even had special menus that said “Happy Anniversary” on them. Gabi was our waitress and she was excellent. She asked if we had been there before and upon learning it was out first visit, she explained the menu to us and told us about the most popular items. I had the hanger steak and my wife had the scallops. The food was delicious and we can’t wait for our next visit here.

Visiting the area for a few days and stopped in for dinner, this is a great place. A farm to table so the menu is a little limited but delicious. Our group ate a variety of dishes and everyone left happy. This is a must if you are in Montgomery.

Great food with filling portion sizes. We've been twice and have loved everything, especially the short rib, pimento cheese, and lobster corn dogs. Individual service has always been great too, but overall the staff seemed like they were barely hanging on. Staff appears to struggle to keep up with the crowd, starting at the host desk. Waited late for our reservation only to pass half a dozen open tables. Don't know why.

Beautiful and yummy local food. Super easy to find!!!! Which is a plus while walking. We had a large group and as a measure of service, let me just add that our glasses stayed full and we left our waitress smiling. We used thier group space upstairs and was able to conduct business and have a great time stimutaniously . Grab a biscuit, chicken breast, and bread pudding then smile!

Montgomery seems to have a blossoming foodie scene and I'd put Central at the center of it. My colleagues and I happened by accidentally and we're glad we did. I started with the radicchio salad which was delicious if a bit large. I followed it with the the filet mignon (for the brussels sprouts, really!). It was prepared exactly as ordered and delicious. The staff was friendly and really made us feel at home. I appreciated that so much of the food was regionally sourced. Everything was fresh and great tasting. Definitely put this on your list if you are eating in downtown Montgomery.

It was one of THE BEST dining experiences we have had in a very long time! My fiance and I shared our birthday dinner here after having a horrible experience elsewhere. When I walked through the door to see about reservations, I was greeted with smiles and pleasant personalities. We came back at our reservation time, was immediately seated. Our waitress (Raven) came right over, introduced herself and made menu recommendations based on our dietary needs. Her personality was awesome! The wine, food and desserts were all delicious! We will definitely be back!

My wife and I decided to eat here for our 15th anniversary with some friends. The service was great and the food tasted ok but dinner entree sizes were EXTREMELY disappointing. Like kids meal size. I have no issue paying $35 for an entree but I would at least like to get close to full. $100 later we left starving and all went to another restaurant to eat... again. Nice place but for what it’s worth Montgomery has better to offer.

For this small town, Central can be pricey. For this small town, Central tends to be an anomaly. For this small town, Central should be the first of many. As I tend to figure in all associated costs when it comes to any activity, eating can be expensive or cheap depending on the health factors, risks and bills that can occur when the cumulative costs are acknowledged. That $1 budget burger, done daily or even just a few times a week for most of your life can both shorten your life as well as make the end of it less a life and more an existence that nevertheless reaches into the high six figures to keep existing. That stated, I greatly appreciate Central because the costs are relatively low for a couple to enjoy dinner and some drinks while being with walking distance of the riverfront, a few pubs, and a whole host of other activities. It's taken Montgomery more than three decades to become MGM, and while I wish it had become much more in my absence, it's nevertheless rather pleasant — and I feel that Central is integral to it. The atmosphere can be somewhat cozy or right out in the open. The prices are good, the food is great, and the service is just right in that they are present but not hovering. Whether it's a plate of h'ordeuvres (such as the pimento and flat bread) at the bar, or the kale & brussels Caesar salad (done well with a proper massage and sauté of the kale, and brussels like one has rarely known them!), or something else, it's always wonderful.

Quality over quantity--that's what you get when you dine at Central. If you're looking for a seasonal menu offering local ingredients then this is your place. I've dined here a number of times and found that I prefer the dinner menu over the lunch menu (like other reviews have noted, the fries are overly oily). With that said, everything is prepared to order.

To start with there was a lot of pimento cheese which is always a good thing. The fried okra appetizer was amazing. Also the Burger was off the charts. Both dishes had pimento cheese included. We also enjoyed the arugula salad with the strawberry, candied pecans and a great poppy seed dressing. All the vegetables were fresh and great.

It gets some points for location and decor but the food just doesn’t quite succeed. The fried green tomatoes were good enough but the melted cheese made it heavy. The fish tacos were tasty enough but the black beans on the side were served cold. The cake was stale and the icing was crystallized and we sent it back. Our waitress was apologetic. The chef needs to rethink his preparation.

This place was simply delicious, for all of the senses. Atmosphere is great, very well appointed, simple and clean. Service, impeccable. Even with a brand new menu (1st night of service) our server was knowledgeable and helpful in narrowing down our desire to order everything on the menu. Food was excellent. Extremely well prepared and presentation very nice. I wish I had found this place my first night in town, not only to have seen and tried the previous menu, but to save myself the hassle of some rather mediocre meals from other nearby establishments. If you are looking for a great meal in Montgomery Alabama, this place should be at the very top of your list. Oh, and the cocktails are impeccable, again, delicious and extremely difficult to choose.

We went for the Mother's Day Buffet for the second year year in a row and it was just as good as the first . It is expensive however I think it is worth it. They had salmon pork some beef potato fingerlings and banana pudding that was outstanding. I would definitely go again five stars all the way!

I've been here with my company once. Food was pretty good. We stayed in a reserved room. Beautiful decor. I came back with my husband later to price their event room. THAT wasn't the problem. The problem was when my husband and I were out on date night, we were originally headed to SAZAs around the corner, but saw Central first. So we checked it out. What an utter disappointment to be told there was no table in the dining room available for dinner. I looked around. 80% of the tables were empty. I told the host that. She said they are expecting a large reservation to show up and that we can use the bar, it's the same. My husband and I went to the bar. I was already feeling unwelcome and offended by the price. I'm sorry, but I think we were shoo'ed away to the bar. I understand reservations, but if you saw that situation, you would say the same. There's no way the whole dining room was reserved. Why...would you allow someone to hinder your regular guests with the party they are having quote on quote instead of requiring them reserve a room upstairs? I have never been so offended. I don't trust the integrity of this restaurant. This is what I told my husband. We left and went to SAZAs, it was the best decision! They were friendly, staffed, affordable, welcoming. It was our first time there too. Based on the customer service alone and food quality, we'll be at SAZAs again!

It was fun to watch how everyone had each other's backs in order to make the patrons first - very seldom do you see that today. Eating here is like listening to good old soul music. I got a nice table, the waitress (Whitney) was perfect. She knows the menucard well and can tell you what fits well together - so I started with an amazing foie gras (I'm Hungarian and we just love it) - then I had the salmon (well done over the brickoven) and so I finished with the creme brûlée. Can you feel it? The Soul? Eating here is like a solid marriage - take your time and you feel like in heaven.

What an awesome place that is elevated above anything else nearbye. The service from the Hostess to the Bartender was great. I ordered the Veal Chop (Cooked perfectly) and it wonderdfully paired with fire roasted parsnips and a mix of mushrooms all with a lite drizzel of an earthy gravy. Also had a tomoate mixture served cold on top. My only complaint was I couldn't pick up the bone and gnaw on it to get every bit off. The open kitchen was great and it was an experience to watch the kitchen work behind the leader of the chef. Dont miss this place, it's so worth a visit!!!

So, decided to visit this place on a whim. Was in town for a race and decided to try something other than our usual restaurant. This place blew us all away. The quality of what we ate would have cost us at least twice as much had we eaten in ATL. We all had something different and the dishes were flat out amazing. The New York strip was perfect. The fillet mignon was perfectly cooked. The pork chop was out of this world. We actually had to order a second helping of the pimento cheese dip because it was that good. We also ate the special cake. Can't wait to go back!!!!

Visited this week having not been since October 18. Sadly the food just wasn't the same as what we had had the last time we came. I'm wondering if they've changed chef or decided to trade small quality food for large quantity. Waitress and staff were lovely. Hopefully they'll return to form for our next trip!

This is a restaurant that cares deeply about you and the food they serve. Once we found this farm to table restaurant, with service to match the excellent, innovative menu, we went nowhere else. Every dish was beautifully conceived and executed. And the cocktail and wine program perfectly complemented the menu. But the real star in the mix might be the incredibly attuned and skillful servers/bartenders who guide you to your perfect experience.

Our server was much more than just friendly - she seemed truly interested in who we were and creating connections. We started with the spicy pimento cheese spread on crispy flat bread. It was great! Then We each four different main entrees which were all excellent with perfectly cooked meats - short ribs, quails, steak. Each entree had squash and grilled Brussels sprouts plus other good vegetables. The wine was excellent. A great way to end our day in Montgomery!

Today is my birthday. And after driving over four hours to Montgomery checking in to my hotel and still running behind the staff at central was AMAZING! The second we pulled up we had a guy working very hard to get the valet line down. He was running back and forth but too the time out to help us...nodding and smiling and giving us directions since i personally haven't been to Montgomery before. Then we walked in a gentleman opened the door and i was greeted by two you g girls who must have drank happy juice that morning because they we fantastic!!! Greeted me with a smile. I explained that i was late and greatly apologized...but they understood!! My boy friend is a pretty simple guy...pizza is his go to quick meal basically lol. So him walking into this restaurant made him shocked. (He didn't know i planned to come here lol). Any ways he wasn't so happy. We sat down and looked over the menu with Patrick as our waiter. I order some crab and my boyfriend the salmon, but after recieveing his order he didn't like it. (I tried it....and lived it...so i understand we have different taste buds) the manager brandy came over and did her best with his next order.... Some white fish with some fries as simple as it gets made with salt and pepper. He was worried that he might not like this one and she said she wouldn't charge him if he doesn't like it. I asked her to bring the sauce that comes with it even though he originally didn't want it. He tried it and said he didnt like it. She apologized and he informed her that he would still pay since he was amazed at how she handled his problem. I made him try the special sauce and then he was ECSTATIC!! He called her over and said he cant believe the difference! He cleaned his plate!!! I'm defiantly coming back!!! I've never dealt with such a fantastic staff before!!! Thank you thank you for giving a great ending to a fantastic birthday weekend!!!!

Seriosly - the gourmet Mother's Day Buffet is fabulous! This is the 3rd year in a row my son has taken me there. Yes, the price is "high end", but so is the food! The variety is amazing & sooooo interesting. It seems there is always something there I've never had before like the roasted baby squash this year as one of several vegatable choices (yummy!). The meat/protein choices are always a treat! I can cook good food at home, but honestly - I've never had food anywhere that tasted better than what they offer at Central. And the atmosphere- it's a one-of-a-kind place... interesting, classy, and comfortable. I always feel very much at home there & received great service!

Delicious food, such that I couldn't have had a better eating experience. We started with the "sow fries", fried slices of delicious pork belly with a wonderful peach dipping sauce. I had a ribeye and my wife had filet, both good. Mixed drinks and beer were good, but wine wasn't worth the high price for a really short pour. Overall, a great experience!

Must try in Montgomery - we had a great time at Central. Lunch service was very attentive - the decor is incredible. We tried the salmon spinach salad which was prepared perfectly, the steakhouse wedge and the fried chicken blt. All of us were very impressed. Restaurant also features vegetarian and gluten free options. Would absolutely recommend.
