It's the best ribs in town. We eat there once a week at least. Pulled pork sandwiches are one of the best and generously portioned. It can be a little loud inside so if you have little ones who are sensitive to noise you may want to get your order to go, but I promise you won't regret it.

DELICIOUS!! Wish I didn’t live so far away! They stay busy but they are quick! Love the atmosphere. Plus you can order online ahead and skip the line! I want to try everything on the menu. Oh and the desserts are PHENOMENAL! Not sure what they put in food but everything from BBQ, mac-n-cheese, green beans and the BEST OKRA EVER! And I don’t typically eat okra!

The pulled pork was chopped super fine with plenty of fat, gristle and hard pieces. No sizeable pieces of lean meat in this portion. The sauce was okay but nothing special. I didn't see any alternate offering to what was put on my plate. I'll take a hard pass on stopping in again.

Hands down the worst BBQ I have tried. I am not sure if they serve it chopped and dry or I just got old meat which I doubt because they were fairly busy to have old dry meat. I only gave 2 stars because the sides and desserts were decent. Update, I wrote this as I was eating. I just walked out and saw a old couple eating pulled pork and there's looked nothing like ours. For 40 bucks I won't be back or send anyone else to eat here.

Usually I have zero complaints about Bob Sykes but during my last visit the pork sandwich that I ordered had alot of very hard almost un-chewable pieces of pork in it, however the onion rings were huge & delicious. Although the place was completely packed around 12:30 on a Saturday, we didn't have to wait too long on our orders to come out. I really appreciate Bob Sykes allowing Oak Grove's cheerleaders to work for tips as a fundraiser.

My family and I travel all over the country, as my husband and I travel for work. Every time we get to a new place, step one is to stake out where the best 2 or 3 places to get local eats are. Though we're not generally big BBQ people, we decided to give Bob Sykes a try, courtesy of most of the reviews. The result? I'm so freaking full I may not eat for the rest of the week. We kept it simple, and got the family pack for our family of 4, with mac and cheese (kiddos favorite), fried okra, and a slice each of pecan and coconut pie to share. Despite the fact that I'm pretty sure we each ate our weight in pulled pork, mac and okra, we still have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. We also have pie, because again, we ate our weight in barbeque. We ordered online as a pick up, so I didn't get to see much of the inside, but what I saw was immaculately clean and orderly, and it smelled amazing. I was greeted almost immediately at the pick up counter, and then while the girl was getting my order finished up I was checked on by two other servers. That's some pretty impressive service, kids. Overall, this is definitely now on our list of favorite places to visit, and hubs and I may need to invest in stretchier pants. So thanks a lot Bob Sykes, for making me go shopping for sweats. But seriously, I highly recommend giving this place a try. You won't be disappointed!

Simply the best! I grew up eating with Bob as a child in the 1950s and 60s and he was a good friend of my dad's. I no longer live in the area but eat at the current location as often as possible. The quality of the food is as great as it ever was and the family is obviously dedicated to the business. I'll be eating there again and again!

First visit here. The food was very bad. My friends had ribs and they were tough. Hard to get from the bone, my husband had pulled pork plate and it was full of gristle and my wings were undercooked and tough. Best thing was the okra, they were all I really like. The onion rings were just ok. I don't live in the area so will probably never visit again.

I don't care for barbecue much,but Bob Sykes has me. The potatoes salad is awesome, the ribs are good, especially the meaty ones, sometimes they give you ribs that have little meat on them, the Red Velvet Cake is the real deal. The half chicken is ok, just needs to stay moist and they fail in that the chicken is dry. All in all it's a good spot for a lazy Saturday afternoon and a friendly family atmosphere

Meat is smoked daily. You can go in and watch them cooking it. They don't just do pork and beef either. My husband got the smoked turkey sandwich. He loved it. I've eaten there for years and have had everything on the menu and have never been disappointed.

Small town feel. You walk in and see them grilling the meat right there. Their sauce is my favorite hands down. Their ribs are amazing. But mine and my fiance's favorite is the half chicken. Service is always friendly and helpful. I feel at home and I know I'll have amazing food everytime I'm there.

Very busy at lunch. Placed order to go and waited about 10 mins, not too bad considering number of people in there. Employees in the back were working as fast as the could. Even the man on the grill was cutting brisket. Cashiers were busy. Food was great, as usual. They were a little light on the brisket for the price.

Great food, nice atmosphere, and genuinely nice staff! I will definitely be back and spread the word about this "must visit" restaurant. My experience was awesome starting from before I entered into the restaurant. The first thing I noticed was the sign outside the door that read ASAP and clarified "As Southern As Possible". Then as I stepped inside there was the delicious smell of the food cooking, and the open grill cooking on my right with a smiling welcoming cook. As I looked around I realized that I needed to go to the counter to order, and the menu was up on the wall behind the cashiers (like a fast food chain). As we stepped across to look over the menu we were welcomed by the politeness of the cashier. She asked if she could help us and take our order, and she was more than helpful to us newbys. She was courteous, patient, and took time to answer our questions and checked to see how to best place the order for the food we wanted. The sweet tea was fresh. The food was fresh, fast, and delicious. We had some to go orders that we needed also, and they even took those orders and waited until we were ready to go to prepare the food so it would not get cold while we enjoyed dinner. Then even after we were seated, and eating our food various members of the staff kept a regular check on is with a kind hearted "is everything okay?" and "Is there anything I can get for you?". The cashier that took our order even came out to check on us. It was just a wonderful overall experience from beginning to end.

First time in a few years to eat here. Onion rings were fantastic. Meat was served lukewarm ( special inside chopped). it was render and a good amount for a small sandwich. Sauce didn't impress. Chocolate pie was horrible. Merangue was overcooked and the chocolate was gritty.

Nice place and people, I just didn't care for their barbecue sauce. Their burgers are Great with or without the special sauce.The onion rings lack flavor. Good sweet tea. Some times it gets Smokey inside from a lack of ventilation at the open barbecue pit. But that's also why it smells so good .

Ok so I just came from there like 20 min ago with my family right,as soon as we get in there the lady with the glasses at the cash register was just being very smart and rude all because I asked her to change my order ok so after that she starts to stare at me and my friends like we didn’t belong there by the way we are black she was visibly talking about us with her coworkers and It made me very uncomfortable and they did this until it was time for us to leave mind you but before that I had asked them did they have any cake I asked this when we first got there they told me they was out ok fine... so about ten min later they only black worker in there manages to fine a extra cake to sell me the white coworker came and snatch it out of her hand and said she already sold it but it was really hers to take home smh I will never go thee again ever I have never been treated like that before really was the most Disgusting place I ever been and I will never go back again and this all happen tonight Saturday March 2

My family and I have been going to Bob Sykes for years. I literally grew up eating there as a kid and still do.My parents go there all the time. My grandparents started eating there when they first opened. The food is always Fresh and Hot. The service is Superb. The employees are always Friendly and Helpful. Van (The Owner) is the Nicest man you'll ever meet. He greets you every time you walk in and always makes you feel welcome. I just can't say enough about this place to do it Justice. I think Everyone should know just How Awesome Bob Sykes is. I'm not exaggerating please come check it out for yourself.... You'll be glad you did. I wish there were more places like this one.I would eat there everyday if I could. If you've never ate here before I Highly Recommend it. It's by far the Best Place to Eat in Alabama.

My date decided on stopping here for dinner after the original choice was closed for the weekend. I opted for the cheeseburger, no mustard, with potato salad and onion rings. While he ranted and raved over his BBQ beef sandwich and fries, I considered my meal to be...just average. The onion rings, while hot and plentiful, seemed to be missing something. Namely taste. I thought they could've used possibly some salt or some kind of other seasoning. The cheeseburger was...just ok. It was meat, cheese pickles and sauce. Nothing to write Mom about. However, it was cooked well done as i like my burgers to be cooked. Lastly, I didn't care for the potato salad. Too tangy in my opinion. Bob Sykes is a legend here in Jefferson County. I know. But what I ordered just didn't hit the mark as I hoped it would. Before I get stoned for the 3 stars, I will return soon and try the pork or smoked turkey or the chicken. Maybe I'll have better luck next time.

Usually the food here is good. I prefer Bob Sykes over the other Bar-B-Q places in town but my last visit may be my last. About twice a week I stop by to pick up a rib sandwich to take with me to work. I like the sauce but I prefer to get it on the side. When I got to work and was ready to eat, I noticed that the ribs were hard and dry. I think they had been microwaved which just ruined the meat. I don't usually complain but this was a waste of money and time.

Hands down the best ribs I’ve ever had! Not I my that but the service is amazing and you can see them cooking some of the meats too. That’s the cook in front of the sign. Also, the Mac and cheese is amazing! Their seasoning is on point and the atmosphere is awesome. The place is clean and they have a variety of desserts. I would defiantly make the 3hr drive again.

Bob Sykes has the most amazing BBQ in my opinion. I have tried a few different places but none of them compare to this place. Just keep in mind that all the food is made to order so you will have at least a 10-15 minute wait. If you drive up to the restaurant and see that they are packed, don't get discouraged. Their staff is very friendly and hard working. They will get your order out as fast as they can.
