COOL BAR - GOOD FOOD ! We were in Birmingham for 2 days and I decided to have a look around while my wife was busy with her job. I dropped by here for lunch and to get some coins for the coin only street meters all round here. Mikel the bar dude was real obliging with the coins and I came back for lunch after loading up the meter. Being from California I had no idea what the good local brews were so thankfully Mikel suggested a Good People Brewing IPA...a local brand. I needed some lunch so I ordered a Grilled Cheese Sandwich while I stood at the bar sipping my ice cold beer. There were a few guys whiling away the afternoon enjoying a beer & a feed at the bar. I had a chat about this & that with a couple of dudes named Daniel and Jacob. I would have taken up Daniel's invite for a game of pool but time was not on my side. My grilled cheese sandwich & fries tasted pretty good and the beer was alright too. It's a cool looking bar with a pool table and lots of crazy paraphernalia hanging on the walls...much like the old Aussie pubs I grew up with years ago !

Cool stop to grab a drink and a quick bite. I was surprised at the music choice this night. It was actually mixer of good rock and hip hop. I only say this because on Wednesday they do well drinks for couple bucks and they charge to get in... For a younger crowd and more diverse one. (Interesting) But the bar food is decent and drinks are within reason.

This wasn't my first time coming here but it was the first time I encountered an employee that completely disregarded myself and my friend and tried to help other customers that arrived after we did. I'm not sure why he did it but my money spends the same as everyone else so maybe next time I'll spend it somewhere else. The food was great and the drinks were on point but bad service will keep me away from a place more than anything.

The food was good but the service was a little lacking, our server forgot to bring our drinks several times and forgot to take our food order and then forgot to input our order so we experienced an unusually long wait time for our food and drinks. The kids enjoyed sitting outside being able to check out the five points area. We do plan to go back, and we hope next time our server doesn't forget us!

This is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is always delicious. Everything I have eaten from the menu is cooked perfectly, paired well, and full of flavor. I have had the pimento cheese burger, chicken sandwich, fries, onion rings, feta burger, the chicken philly (Flip-a-delphia), Black Market burger, and oh, my good God, the greek egg rolls with greek aioli! The prices are fair and make dining out easy on the budget. The entertainment and daily specials are a treat from Tuesday night bingo with six dollar burgers to Thursday night trivia and the live music!

Fun spot. Layed back atmosphere. The waitress with the British accent is absolutely clutch. I wanted to keep her. The drinks were the best. Just look for the liquor you prefer whatever they make will be amazing. I had the cajun pasta. It was hot but flavorful and cooked to perfection.

2 Stars for this "opinion" review. If you are looking for a place to chill at the end of a long day,,,,keep looking. Web page says Low-Key, nope, not even close!!! However, if you like to yell at whoever you're with, this might be the place for you! WAY too loud inside (unless you are 20s-30s) but only obnoxiously loud outside with the smokers. Food and service were alright but the restrooms (men's) was BAD!! Even for a semi-country type dude.. Does anyone remember the raceway in leeds way back when? When it was just a gas pump island store with separate restrooms? Not quite that bad, but it probably won't be long. I hardly ever write reviews and I won't be going back to this place.. good luck!

I was in Birmingham for a business conference last week and came into Black Market Bar with a group of 11 or so. We were treated fabulously by everyone from the doorman to the bartender. Everyone was treated to a round of free shots! The pool table and the table top hockey game were also big attractions while I was there, and the entire place was lively but not overcrowded. As for drink selection, there was little to be demanded. I didn't enjoy the pub fare, but the burgers did look and smell appetizing!

I was here during trivia night and it was a great time. They had some really good drink specials, plenty of two dollar draft beers and wells. All the staff was really nice, helpful and attentive. I did not try any of the food while I was there but I have heard good things about it.

Great food, not the greatest experience. Food took forever to come out, waitress failed to make us aware of the long wait considering we were on a time crunch. Also, waitress wasn't really personable either and had an issue with wrong tickets- nightmare. Had fun with my cousin though- she's a doll.

I went to Birmingham to visit a special lady friend and we spent some very enjoyable time at this bar-staurant. We shared apps food wise and they were all great: Greek egg rolls, loaded fries, chicken salad dip, and more (as a reference I was down for 6 days and we visited the place 4/6 of them) the atmosphere is super cool, comic book stuff everywhere and an evil theme. We also did (a lot) of drinking there and the cocktails were on point strength-wise and very affordable. We drank at the bar and at tables and were never without an adult beverage for an undue amount of time. The main reason for this review was the service. On busy weekend nights, slow mornings or the afternoons in the middle, the staff was all excellent. We were very well attended to, and everyone was super friendly, which you don't always see in a place with an "evil" motif (usually those staffs take the opportunity to act like douchebags) As stated above my lady and I were really getting into the alcohol one night and our server was super sweet to us bringing over water and checking that we had ride home plans. If you are in Birmingham and want a great place to eat and drink Black Market Grill is for you. I am already missing their Long Islands.

My family and I dined here for Brunch and had a great time. There is plenty of space for outdoor or indoor dining. The prices are very reasonable and our server was attentive. A pitcher of mimosa was $11.00 but the champagne nor the juice was chilled so it was not pleasant to drink. I had the pancakes and chicken which had a good taste and worth the price. Overall despite a few flaws I would return.

We went for brunch last Sunday and it was fantastic! We left happy and full, the service sitting at the bar was fantastic. Our “evil” bartender was awesome. We will definitely be back on our next trip. Somehow we left without pictures of our food, but our mimosas and other drinks at the bartenders recommendation were great.

Horrible customer service. My family and I were eating in this restaurant on the evening of 11/03/18. The waitress took everyone's food and drink order. Everyone received there food but my niece. When the manager came around to see of we were ok and see if we needed to go boxes we stated to him she hadn't received her food yet. He blew it off and stated it's probably on the way out. Our waitress then walks back over and we state the same thing to her. She goes to ask did I take your order? Oh I'm just so busy..... Wrong answer... I will never step foot back into this establishment again... The waitress and mgr was very unprofessional. I asked for corporate number he stated I'm the manager. Well the manager wouldn't even find out what happened to our order. So I asked again they told me to write my name and number down on a receipt book. No... For you to throw It way... Are you serious... I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone and will make sure if anyone ask I tell them about this experience. We spent our money just like everyone else.... And should have received the same customer service as everyone else. And apology and let me see what going on with your order would have been greatly appreciated.... But instead he walked away with no concern... Piss poor customer service..

My server was nice and attentive. I ordered safely and got the Godzilla burger. I expected a little more from the actual burger since it was really just an over sized cheese and bacon burger. My only suggestion is that they season the meat and dont just put two hunks of beef on a grill.

The food was great. The beer was fine. The service was below average. I joined my friends there who were apparently part of a "large party" which meant the addition of involuntary tips. I am of the opinion that this had a negative impact on our server's willingness to accommodate. She rarely checked in on us and took quite a long time to fulfill any requests. But, it was a Friday night and we were off in a corner having a great time anyway. So all in all a good experience.

I stopped and grabbed dinner here and it was a decent experience. The location has a dive-bar kind of feel, and certainly a place with plenty of life --it was packed early on a Thursday. I ordered their pimento bacon cheeseburger and it was actually delicious. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the combination of everything was incredible. I wasn't a fan of their steak fries, though that a personal thing --I literally doused them in ketchup. The staff was very friendly, polite and efficient, especially for how busy they were. Prices were very reasonable and especially for the quality of the food. There was a good amount of indoor seating --tables, high-tops and bar, and a lot of outdoor seating, also. The location isn't that easy to spot from the main road as is nestled in a plaza. Overall a good experience and would go back.

I was worried about the type of service we would get after reading the reviews. But are server, Mariah was great. Started off with pork empanadas and my boyfriend had the pickle ricks. For entrees I had shrimp alfredo and he had the Godzilla burger with sweet potato fries. Not only was the food good but the drinks were great too. We went on a Tuesday night. I believe beer is a $1, all burgers are $6 except the Godzilla burger and they play bingo at 8pm. The music played was good and the british lady who did bingo was funny and entertaining. We'll definitely be coming back.

We've passed by this restaurant a million times! We decided to try a new spot in the area and I must say that we were well pleased! The Sunday brunch was fantastic! The French toast and the Dan Fried steak was great! It's a family friendly environment with multiple TVs to watch Sunday football! Our server was very attentive as well! We will be back!

Food was good, service was shocking. Matradee was the worst ever., she was rude and would not accept that our party wanted to sit at the same table. Lastly they have credit card terminals not fully compatible with cards on the market. Rather than trying your Card on all terminals they say you are declined and then decide to try alternative terminal to find your card works....never again. The worst service I have had in Birmingham.

I definitely preferred the older, darker and dingier location. Black Market is a nice place to go have a couple drinks and some good food with friends. It has a friendly atmosphere. The beer selection is good. The cocktails are good for a casual bar. The food is great. The decorations are great fun. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, but on Wednesday night Well Hell, things can get hectic. Thursday nights, trivia, are fun for everyone.

We went on St. Patrick Day. They had an amazing band. The menu was limited because of the events but the food choices were good. I had the Ex girlfriend sister's salad which was great. My husband had the wings which he said we're good but he had hair in his food. The bathroom is small and needed attention. The first bathroom stall was broken and someone had to let you out from the outside.

Some of the Southside's best pub grub. Burgers and whole menu pretty tasty. I usually get a Feta Burger and fries, but have been known to graze on East Lake Tacos. Good beers and drinks served by decently cool bartenders. Good bands, Bingo w/ prizes. Etc. I like it.
