DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY. We rented a van and received a completely different car with no luggage space, windshields didn’t work and the side windows didn’t work either. When we got there to pick up the van their system didn’t work and although they told us they will send us the contract they never did.

If I could do 0 starts I would. AVR could not pay me to rent one of their cars again. Nothing but bad service at every turn. EDIT: In response to your reply. First, the time to try to make it right by your customer was when I was standing in front of you, not 3 weeks later when I posted a bad review of your company (which, by the way, was only posted after I received an email from your company asking for a review). Second, don't feel bad. It's not just your branch that is awful. The whole company is terrible from a customer service stand point. I tried calling and emailing at least a dozen times after our initial interaction. I'm still waiting to hear back. I'm not surprised you think you treated us with anything but respect.

They were ok ... but their total price with taxes and all doesnt come up very clearly DO NOT accept their offer for pre paid fuel unless you know you'll use the entire tank cause that's what you pay for and they will not refund anything that usbt used. Also difficult to find as office is inside the hotel.

A one star rating is way too high for this Joke of a company. Tucked away in the back of a Hotel. As soon as I arrived this place screamed something is wrong!!!! to get to the point, we reserved a Mini Van several weeks in advance, once we arrived to pick it up at the time scheduled, we were notified they don't have any vans left and I'm not the first customer facing this issue. they offered a ford Expedition or Dodge Durango for replacement. The Expedition looked like it had never been washed or vacuumed since day one, the Durango was nice only because it was brand new. at this point we were left with no choice because of Thanksgiving weekend we decided to take the Durango despite the difference in gas mileage over the van. After finishing the paper work for the Durango the attendant stated 'oh just so you are aware we have a mileage limitation because you're a resident of the state. "WHAT"??? When we made the booking we were certain to make sure we had unlimited millage, and now this. the attendant refused to let us talk to anyone else, said he knows they will not make any exceptions, well this isn't an exception, this is honoring what we signed up for. What a JOKE of a business, hands down worst customer service not only in the car rental industry but pretty much any industry.. as the other reviews state don't fall for the price scam!

The van was nice and clean, employee showed us the storage and go seating. They pick you up at the airport and shuttle you offsite to their business. Drop off was similar, but was a lot smoother.

Quirky offsite hotel office.No traditional rental car amenities for pickup and return handling.Offsite savings only a few dollars lower then onsite similar class. Poorly maintained, dirty. Front airbag panel falling off our 2019 Durango SUV below steering wheel a d above brake pedal. Not open early for returns. You are on your own getting back to airport if before 8am. Not worth the savings. Just rent at the airport.

If I could do zero stars I would!! This company was HORRIBLE! First, when I made the reservation I made sure that I was booking from a company at the airport, it shows specifically "San Diego airport" for the address. We got there, found out that the company is not on site, waited for an hour for someone to pick us up. When we called to say we were waiting for pick up we informed them that we had 11 people. When they arrived they informed us only 9 could be picked up, that at least 2 would have to wait at the airport while we picked up the vans, to have go back and get them. The process at their actual site to pick up the van was awful. The ladies were not nice. They charged a $201.11 deposit, not just a pending charge, which I would understand, but actually took the money from my account, then credited back $200. I know it's a small difference, but it's the point of it. This company was horrible. I wish I would have read the reviews before booking them. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Rented a vehicle in Salt Lake City started with a 2018 Dodge Durango. Went to California and the change oil light came on, went to 2 locations to get a 7 seated passenger and ended up getting a 2007 Dodge mini van. They literally charge you so much for extra miles and honestly the only reason I'm giving it a 1 star is because the dude in the SLC office was cool. Other then that I WILL NOT be renting through these guys anymore. Dont get screwd over with the double charges and hidden fees. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.

Located in a hotel lobby room. Not easy to find. Tried splitting payment between two people upon arrival. Initially was told would not be charged anything until we returned car at which point would have payment split onto both cards. Later that day they charged us both a deposit of $192. Said it takes 14 days to return deposit. Were provided a different rental car than we booked. 2018 rental they provide d's screen went black 1 hour into 8 hour drive and did so periodically throughout trip. Called and left message regarding that but never received follow up. GM called back after calling in the 3rd time regarding deposit just to tell me after all this they would look into it. Offered no sincere apology just said they would look into it only after I asked if this was the customer service deserved in this scenario. Doesn't even deserve a star.....seemed like a scam

This company is the opposite of helpful. Tried calling the toll department because we had a couple tolls when renting a van but got NO answer several times. A week later got a $30 charge for the tolls when they were $7 when we paid them on our own but because it went through the car rental company it was ridiculously priced. What a joke

If you want horrible service this is your place! It says to call when you arrive which we did, were placed on hold and then hung up on after 10 minutes. Kept trying to call back for 20 minutes kept getting voicemail. Finally got ahold of someone and they said there was a shortage of cars and they were busy. Also told they couldn’t take all of us only the driver as there was not enough room and others were ahead of us... All of this with zero apology or any sign that they even cared that we were having a bad experience. They said they would arrive in 15 minutes and it was over 40 minutes later before they showed up. It’s not worth the $50 savings unless you just really want to hang out at the car rental terminal for a couple hours!

These guys are liars. When we rented the van, they told us no to worry about filling it up because they would do that for us when we dropped it off and charge us accordingly. Turns even though we dropped it off half full, they are still charging us to fill up the entire 26 gallon tank. Unreal and completely dishonest. Pay attention to all the one star reviews and go elsewhere.

I would give it 0 star if i could. I flew in from Washington state to salt lake and was going to rent a van for our group of 6 to go Vegas and then California. Booked through Expedia and it showed unlimited mileage. Went to pick up be van and was told that it was only 250 miles a day! Definitely not enough to get us to Vegas and California. DO NOT book with this company!!! The person helping me didn’t even try to help offer alternatives or inform me how much it would be for extra mileage.POOR customer service. The place is also off site from the airport and in the Ramada hotel...took me a while to figured this out! Overall I would NEVER EVER recommend this company to anyone.

The worst!!! Which is a low bar when it comes to rental car companies. They cancel your reservation if your flight is delayed and charge you double. Save your money and a huge headache from very rude customer service. Also, do not trust them, they also lied to us.

A unknown rental agency to me. However, our daughter called locally and found this agency. WOW, I retired from the travel industry, and this agency goes to the top of my list. They are customer mindful. The are "clean", convenient and outstanding rates. They were very helpful, when our plans were changed, and accommodated us without additional fees. The fee for the car was half of the price of any competition.

I found them off expedia and found a great deal that beat enterprise. A gorgeous SUV for a very low rate. I reserved it online and took an uber there. The office is inside the Armada hotel. I completed the process and the personnel brought the truck to the front of the building. Check out the videos

Its my first time to rent with AVR and ignored all the bad reviews against them.John is amazing aside from not explaining to us the limit of the milage that we get charges, the rest of the staff in the Ramada office are not helpful.So many hidden charges after you see your bills..Not worth it to have a service like them in your vacation trip..I have a worst ever experience with this rental company..Dont waste your time to even look in the website.For a first timer like me, just look for something else instead of renting here.

Called multiple times about a later pickup, no answer. Got there at 6:45 and nobody was there, and again no answer when we called their customer service. Absolutely horrible company. Look elsewhere!!

WORST service experience I have ever had!!! FRAUDULENT dirty business! They don't even deserve one star! We booked with this company through Expedia and from the beginning it was an awful experience. We were never told it was off-site from the airport and tried multiple times to contact the company only for no one to answer calls. When we finally found this place of our own merit, we entered to find it was a dumpy little hole inside the Ramada inn. NO one was there to fulfill our reservation. We waited for over 30 minutes ( all while still trying to contact someone) for someone to finally come back from "shuttling" another customer and with absolutely no acknowledgement of our presence, they continued helping someone else. When they finally got around to us, they refused to honor the third party contract of our booking which clearly stated unlimited mileage. The representative stated that their terms of conditions superceded the company with whom we had booked through. No where could he show me my acknowledgement of "their" terms of conditions. The respresentative who claimed to be the manager was rude indignant and refused to offer any alternatives or solutions saying it wasn't his problem and he would do nothing about it. Even when we continually showed him where our confirmation guaranteed unlimited mileage, he just shrugged his shoulders. Clearly this place cares nothing about customer service and has no problem being deceitful and misrepresenting themselves. I will make sure everybody I know and every traveller I encounter knows NEVER to use this company. I will also recommend to everyone I know to leave reviews of how rotten this business is. A business such as this has no ethics or customer care and as such should be out of business!

We had a wonderful experience. Although they are hard to get a hold of the shuttle service was fantastic and their prices were simply unbeatable. I think we rented a full-size SUV for about the third the price of the closest option with the rest of the rental places at the airport.

If I could give zero stars it wouldn't be low enough. I will say the car was clean and a fair price, this is why I rented for two days when I moved my trip up. Being tired and not paying much attention the guy asked if I'd like to just do the prepaid fuel at only $2.13 a gallon to top me off...we talked about the price and talked about how I'd save money so I said yes...I never ever use this option and for some reason figured they looked at the return gas and charged appropriately. Well I realized this would not be the case, called Customer Service, said I had driven only 98 miles could I just fill it up and return it and not do the prepaid fuel as I hadn't driven at all, they said I'd have to talk to that location...I called that location and they told me most likely not...they said a manager would have to let me know...I said I really just wanted to return it full, I travel there monthly and would rent again and if they would be understanding this one time...they said probably not...I return it and the cost of my gas was over the cost of the rental....for two days I had to pay $52.40 in gas on a $28.00 rental....I asked again if we could reconsider as I am a frequent renter in the area and they said no without any concern...I told them I'd never rent from them again and that their staff should be a bit more honest with the renters obviously realizing I probably wouldn't use a 24 gallon tank in my short 2 day trip....super rude, horrible customer service. I will say the gentleman that drove me over to Silvercar to pick up my Q5 for the rest of the trip was perfectly nice and saved me the time of going back to the airport and he was great...the rest of the place was a joke.

AVR is NOT a good choice. The worst rental car experience I have ever had. The car was old and had over 75K miles and the tires were horrible. Oh and don't think you will get customer service because no one will answer. Roadside assistance wont answer either so if you have an emergency your on your own. Also they are several miles from the airport and very inconvenient.

Excellent help when pickng up the van. Total process approximately 25 minutes. Vehicle worked well, as expected. Dropped off 65 min past the pick up time, 35 min past the 30-min grace period, and was charged for an additional day instead of one hour, as per the terms. Plus the person had no decision making power to adjust the fee. It felt like I was dealing w a computer instead of an actual person. With so many options to rent a large mini van, I will opt for Enterprise next time.

Based on the angry reviews I was expecting poor service or bad vehicles but I had a great experience. I came to Salt Lake for a conference and rented the vehicle last minute. I got a great rate ~$27 a day after tax for a large 2019 Dodge Durango with fewer than 10k miles on it. Service moved quickly. The only reason I've given 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that the name "Airport Van Rental made me think that the rental location was at the airport, it was not. They do have an on demand shuttle between their location and the airport.

Rented a nice SUV 5 nights for $72. Not sure anyone could ever beat that rate. The customer service was 5 stars in and out. However the office space looked like a -2 star place. I’d definitely be back though. Thank you

Not worth the cheaper price. Didn’t have the van I reserved (15-passenger) and instead got a smaller one. And it was the same price. Reservation was at 12 but didn’t leave the rental place until 1. Only reason I am giving them 2-stars is because the guy was nicer. Everything else sucked.

My sister and I reserved a mini van online for unlimited mileage, but when we got AVR to get the car, the AVR people said that there a limit of 250 miles per day and when we questioned them about it how they advertised online for unlimited mileage, they said oh well there is a fine print. Overall we cancelled our reservation, we dont want to do business with this company.

Don't do it. I booked through expedia and there was no mention of off site anything until I printed out my confirmation. They should have just had the n temple address on expedia instead because I would have drove there instead of going to the airport. I am local so why tf would I want to wait 20 min for a shuttle. Ended up renting from AVIS and got a good deal on an suv.

Greedy and rude! They upped the price after we got to the van rental place after taking 2 shuttles to get there. They changed our rerun time from what I made in the reservation and when I called to ask what my options were tgey put me hold for 30 min and then rudely told me that they were too busy to talk to me and I would just have to take my chances. Terrible people to deal with. After returning the car no less than 4 employees came out to check for scratches. What a mucky mouse rude terrible company. Online they quoted me one price and in the end I paid double that price.

AVR was a God send during my recent convention trip! In previous years I had to wait in really long lines at other rental car places. AVR was top notch from the time I was picked up from the airport.....to given 2 choices for vehicles in the category I reserved.....to dropping off the vehicle and being shuttled back to the airport. Quick, affordable and courteous!

Employees are AWESOME. I'd honestly give it 4.5 stars if I could. There's some MILD validity to the concerns of fees. If you just make sure to have a decent and honest conversation when you rent pick up, and be sure to return it when you can review charges with them, you'll be fine. You streamline certain luxuries for the sake of price, here, so don't expect Andes Mints and a pillow fluff upon pickup... But the customer service is spot on(especially if you treat the employees with a little respect). TLDR: Would recommend. Just ask questions and treat the employees with some human decency and respect.

DO NOT RENT HERE. Hidden fees and no customer service to speak of. No one was there when we went to pick up the car. We ended up waiting for quite some time. When I got the money refunded to my card it was less than I was told it would be. Our reservation was for unlimited miles. I was told when I called about this issue that there were in fact limited miles and that we had gone over the amount of 250 miles. There is no way we went over that number of miles. I was told to contact the local office but there was no one there, again, to help me.

We were not told that the rental facility was off airport and that we needed to call for a shuttle. Once we called, we had to wait for 30 mins for someone to pick us up. We were taken to a rundown Ramada Inn were they had a room that serviced as their office. It was a weird experience. There seemed to be added fees for everything. (i.e. $12.50 a day surcharge for my spouse to drive the car as well. No other rental car charges for your spouse.) The guy at the counter was smug and rude. On a positive note, the Durango SUV was new and in great shape. No problems with the car. However, it get's better. Upon return, we were told that due to the snow storm, they could not take us back to the airport and that we were on our own. The guy at the counter said "Check the front desk. Maybe the Ramada folks can give you a ride". I check and they could, for a fee! I went back to the office and after a 20 min wait, I finally was able to speak to the manager and after a 5 min argument, he agreed to pay the fees for my family. He was a complete jerk and we would have missed our flight had it not been delayed.

Great mini van, brand new, great price. Yes they are off site on north temple. I guess there was a shuttle but I just googled their address and took an Uber there for $12. They are located in a Ramada at ( 1659 W North Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84116, USA). When I returned the Mini Van I took the Ramada FREE shuttle to the airport (took 10 minutes) for my flight home. The shuttle runs every half hour on the hour. Pay more if like at the airport but i found this fine- Brent at the desk was a nice helpful guy. I will use them again but will call them direct rather than use a 3rd party like Priceline or Expedia. SLC is great to drive in as all the streets are numbered- you can’t get lost!

It went from being an affordable rental to charging an extra $200 dollars over what the Travelocity Total rental quote was! The guy at the desk was unhelpful and unable to look you in the eyes, what they gave us is a clear contract from Travelocity but they say they have different prices from Travelocity!!! Travelocity’s contract clearly says that all fees and taxes are included in total, then why are they charging and extra $200+ of “other” fees? So why would I even try renting again online or through Travelocity again?! Never from AVR, very unhelpful and dismissive manager!

Save yourself the hassle and DO NOT RENT from AVR!! We had a pickup time and rental for 11am (email verification from Travelocity) from SLC airport and we tried several times to call them after we arrived. We waited for over 30 minutes for someone to finally answer our call and were told that they could not provide a rental car until 3pm. Poor customer service! We ended up renting a vehicle from Thrifty who got us on our way.

Rented a minivan and ended up with a full sized van because they had no minivans. No apology or reasons given. Paid way more in fuel than we would have had we been given what I reserved and they overcharged us to boot! Yeah, never again.

The worst rental experience we have had. They didn't have a shuttle at 6pm when we landed, didn't even mention it. We called them and let them know that we were waiting and then when we went the next morning to pick up the car, they had cancelled our reservation and rented our car to someone else.

Called at least 3 times everyday for a week looking to get some questions answered. No one ever answered and I left at least 4 voicemails to call me back. Came here looking for a direct number and seen all the bad reviews. Also noticed they only respond to positive reviews. Bad business

Buyer Beware. We booked a minivan with AVR (Salt Lake location) through Expedia. To both AVR and Expedia's credit it was noted in the reservation that the car pickup was offsite and they listed the number to call for a pickup. We arrived in SLC at 5:00 on Friday 3/16. When we called the office was closed, not just for the day, but until Monday. No service was available for off hour pickup, we could not reach a local agent. Stranded at SLC, two hours later, we ended up renting a minivan through one of the providers at the airport but had to pay twice the price because we no longer had an advance reservation.

Cheap price great service explained everything minus charging the full 220 deposit and the 39.81 for the rental and not returning the 220 for 7 days is super annoying. .
