Read the horrible reviews after I booked the car, but took the chance anyway. So glad I followed my gut and let my own experience determine my service. From the time we step off the flight from San Jose to Reno, we experienced high quality service. Jesus was the 1st employee I met. We booked a mid-size, but since the plan was to travel from Reno to Soda Springs, I asked for a all wheel drive upgrade. They quickly accommodated me with a Kia Sorrento for a small additional charge. Jumped right on it. By the time we got off the shuttle (which happened to be right on time) from the airport to the off-site location, they were ready for us. I experienced no pressure on upgrading the insurances. They handed me the keys and asked if I wanted to double check for damages. I did a once over and noticed it was good to go. Snow came in that night, so I was glad to have the all-wheel drive. Car was great and gave us plenty of space for our luggage. Coming back to the airport was just as easy. As stated before, the main office is not at the airport, but off-site about a 1/4 mile away. Maybe this allows them to give such competitive pricing. Drove the car right up The shuttle driver informed us that someone will take our paperwork and he'd be right back (which he was). Caitlyn (I hope I got the spelling right) asked for my contract paperwork, noticed the full tank of gas and no dings or dents and told me thank you and have a nice day. I asked him to speak with the manager to let them know how much I appreciated the service. Our family trip to Reno was so much fun, we're definitely coming back and renting again from Payless. With the exception of the right rear tire running low on air, I couldn't have been happier. Thanks Payless. You really made our family trip special.

The absolute worst car rental company I have ever rented from and THE worst customer service I have ever dealt with as well. When I rented the car, the girl who helped me was very nice and everything was fine. I wasn't sure if I was going to want the car for 1 week or 2 weeks. She assured me if I wanted to extend the rental, I could easily just call and extend it with no extra fee. I decided I wanted to extend the rental. I tried calling the 1 - 800 number, it was out of order. I called the direct number, 3 days in a row, several times a day, to ask what the rate would be for the additional week. No answer. I left 4 messages saying it was urgent, to please call me back, so I can make a decision about the extension. Never called back. Then, today, I finally got a phone call telling me that I would be charged a fee for extending the rental. I told the girl, who was the absolute rudest person I have ever dealt with in customer service, that I would like the fee waived since they were impossible to reach, and the girl who I rented from, assured me there would be no fee. She yelled at me that she can't answer all the phone calls and HUNG UP on me!!! This is a true story. Unbelievable. I will never rent from Payless again and I suggest nobody else rent from them unless you want to deal with a nightmare customer service!!!

I initially gave this company a 1-star review, but after my full experience I'm bumping it up to 4. I had to wait for the shuttle pickup (you could actually walk to the rental lot in 10 minutes) and it had been a really long day with our 1 year-old, a lost car seat (thanks Delta!) and other hurdles. Once we got the shuttle, things went well. The car was nice (only 1,000 miles on this one!), the people were pleasant, and the rates cannot be beat. If you need immediate customer service, then go with another company. But if you don't mind waiting a little to save a little, this company is your match.

Very unhappy. We had to rent a car to travel out of state unexpected for a funeral. One of the tires failed -- defect in the sidewall. Used their roadside assistance and had to replace tire -- car only had the short range donut spare. Paid for the tire out of pocket and was told to be reimbursed when we returned the car. First told the failed tire was normal wear and tear we were responsible for. Then told they were not responsible for the defective tire. Then told that we should have lugged the tire back to show to them (pictures not enough). Then promised a call back from management. No call back, obviously. Will never use them again and wouldn't wish them on my worse enemy.

I have used Payless Car Rental at the Reno Airport twice now. Both times the cars were available and great. One of the mornings I had to be at the airport at 4:30 am. The shuttle was there ready to take me and on time. This is a nice Branch to work with and so far have had the best prices as well.

Worst car rental experience I have had. Beware hidden fees and unnecessary "package deals" with road side assistance. Should have trusted my gut and went to Enterprise. Will definitely not be going to "PayLESS" again.

We had a good experience. The rental was purchased through Priceline. Pick up and drop off was quick and effortless. Pick up saw only one person on duty while drop off had two people. The location is convenient. Give this spot a try. The cost was very cheap for a three day weekend rental.

Very Competitive prices, very fast convenient service. We rented an Suv, the vehicle was brand new, clean, and four wheel drive. The shuttle ride from terminal to the car lot was quick 5 minutes or less. Driver was helpful with loading and unloading all the luggage.
