I bought a 2016 Mini Cooper from them in Dec 2018 and had it shipped to Seattle. They claimed it had a 125-point inspection and reported no issues with the car. It only had 7K miles so I wasn't too concerned. On arrival the hatchback would not open. A week later we found the back passenger door doesn't lock automatically and the door trim looks messed up. Very disappointing. Two trips to the local Mini dealer within two weeks - luckily Mini is standing behind the car.


I love how everything is done "in house". Pick the car, finance, plates and tags, everything on-site. Makes car buying less intimidating when all questions can be answered in one place at one time.

This is the worst service department I have used in the 40+ years I have been driving. This the second terrible experience we have had out of 2 tries. had a 7:30 appt and dropped off my car at 4:30 the previous day. I called at 1 to see when it would be ready as the service writer made a big deal about the time it needed to be there. The writer that answered said she would find the Mazda service person and call right back. No one called. I called them at 3 and was transferred to service twice with no answer. I called back and the receptionist walked over to make sure someone took my call. I then had to hold for the Mazda service person Brad to tell me that it had just been put on the lift. When I asked why he told me my appointment time was "not how it worked" and that they took care in the order they checked in. Of course there was no answer as to how there was anyone ahead of me since I checked in the previous afternoon. His attitude is clearly that I should feel privileged that he touched my car. When I was finally able to pick up the car they didn't have the paperwork done and the only thing I had asked someone to look at other than the recall was not done. Brad said no one had asked him to look even though it was written on the service order. He did not offer to look at it then even though it wouldn't have taken him 5 minutes. I will never buy or have a car services at Fox TC and tell everyone I know to stay away.

(I think?) from the service department came out and put some water/antifreeze in my tank so I could at least get home as the dealership was closing soon. Great friendly service. On a 4 month RV trip we had an issue with our Ford Edge toad. Called and spoke with Mike Koorn on Friday. Told him we would be in Traverse City late Monday afternoon. Told us to bring the car in on Tuesday morning and they would look at it. They looked at it and found the problem and had it fixed in 2 hours. Mike made it a great experience. Thanks Mike.

Worst experience ever at an auto service shop! The Fox Grand Traverse Service Department disrespected me today in a way I will never forget. I will never be back. I have been a loyal customer of theirs for nearly 30 years as well. The labor prices were completely unreasonable on a simple routine maintenance procedure and apparently non-negotiable as well. I do not expect everything to be negotiable, however, use some common sense and be reasonable. Both a service representative and the service manager were involved and both knew of my situation/unhappiness yet did nothing to quell my frustration.

We had a great experience. Dave the service advisor was very professional and attentive. Our only problem was with the Enterprise car that was provided for our use. It was filthy and the windows were so dirty that we could not see out of our rear view mirrors. The only reason I bother to mention this is because it is a safety issue.

Tried to charge me $95 to tell me that I needed a $20 windshield washer pump that they installed after I specifically asked them not to. Car was there for a recall that was supposed to take a couple of hours and took almost 2 days.


Never answer their phones and never get to you in a timely fashion if you request a call on their website.

Bought a 2011 Infiniti G37 X from here. The staff was very friendly and not once did I feel like they were being pushy. I've had the car for about 4 months now and everything has been great other than one minor problem. I had a front passenger wheel bearing go bad after putting a little under 1000 miles on it. Made a call to Fox and they replaced it for free even though it wasn't covered by the warranty.

I would love to give this place more... the service while buying my car was fantastic...unfortunately within 24 hrs of my purchase I established my rear entertainment system wasnt working. I notified my sales person and he got me set up to get it looked and since then its been nothing but excuses and BS. I bought my car in August and just last week theu finally said the part were ordered only to call back this week and dind out they were never really ordered.. I have 2 vehicles from ford. A 2018 Fusion and a new to me 16 Explorer I recently bought from Fox. The service department I spoke to Steve and he was great with everything when my car was in there for service. The quick lube oil change could've been better. We had come in twice first time got told to come back another day and the second got told after they already started the oil change that they couldn't do a 10 minute tire rotation because they were short handed. Pretty bad excuse. But I called Matt the service manager and he was very professional and even had someone come and get the car to do the rotation since they said it couldn't be done in weeks when he got it in a day. If you are going to buy a used car Pete is the man to go to. I've never been a huge fan of salesman but he is the best salesman you can ask for. He goes over the top for his customers and was the best person there. He wont pressure you to buy a car or go over the top. When I get another used car hopefully Pete is still working there because I would buy from him again.


We have purchased a couple of vehicles from Fox Grand Traverse in the past and have been satisfied. However, we were there a week ago and my husband was very interested in a used truck on the lot but he had questions about the 4WD making a noise. The salesman said he would have it checked out and get back with us the next day. Well, it's been a week and not one phone call or email. Very disappointed. We're looking elsewhere.

I was up in this area for vacation when my engine blew. My car was towed here because it was the closest dealer. They quoted the job at 2 weeks, it ended up taking almost 2 months. On multiple occasions my service advisor assured me the car would be done by a certain date, and when that date came, I was told "it's looking like it'll be another week". That happened 2-3 times. When the vehicle finally was done, I had to make a 4 hour drive one way to pick it up. (My service advisor was well aware of the distance I would be driving home, we had multiple conversations regarding the fact that I live about 250 miles from the dealer). They never took the car on a test drive after replacing the engine, it only had 1 more mile on the odometer than it did when it was towed in. The new engine was making all kinds of rattling/grinding noises, so I had to take it to another dealer the day after I picked it up. They also charged me $160 for a battery that they never told me about until the day before I picked up the car. My service advisor said he was 'pretty sure' my dad authorized it, but he wasn't completely sure because 'that conversation was so long ago'. My dads name is not attached to the vehicle at all, the only conversation the two of them ever had was the day after my engine blew and my dad was asking the service advisor about getting me a rental car. Nothing more. (I was told by Ford customer service that they are refunding me the $160, but haven't heard from the dealer to find out how they are getting that money to me). Lastly, a gay pride sticker that was on the vehicle when it was towed there was missing when I got the car back, and the service manager said "so? That could've been anyone, your car was on our lot for two months. What do you really want me to do, buy you a new sticker?" So all in all this dealership gave me the worst experience, and a week after their 'repair', I'm still driving a rental car while another dealer looks over my car to figure out what Fox did incorrectly. Can't believe how awful my experience at this dealership has been.

Do not deal with this business. Have had this car less than a year and already more trouble than it's worth. Of coure the expensive warranty I got for it didn't cover anything that is damaged. Tried to charge almost 700 to replace a rear coil spring when my normal shop got it done for just over $70. Also tried to charge over 2000 to replace a part that wasnt even the right part correlated to what was wrong and changed their story when confronted. Took me almost a month to get my car back with no work done seeing as they overcharge. Including paying them $130 just to look at the car i paid less than $400 for everything but still needs a new ecm. So am now paying for a car that cost me $10,000 that i can't drive safely. Will never deal with them again.

She was very knowledgeable and very helpful in the purchase of our used Ford Explorer. She knew everything there was to know about our vehicle and explained everything very well. We would certainly use Fox Grand Traverse for any other purchases. Close friends of ours recommended Gretchen to us and that is why we chose her.


First of all I know everyone is busy and sometimes unable to get to you in ten seconds but I work in customer service and have a lot of patience. Within the last two weeks I've tried to schedule a service appointment here and no one has contacted me back (also a couple months ago I tried to get in there with no response), I tried to use their convenient online service request form and no one will answer me. I get businesses are busy and definitely in the traverse city area. But when I can't get an appointment by emailing or calling there is a problem. Maybe the online shouldn't be offered at your location. I work in tc so that location is way more convenient. Instead I got in at the fox ford of cadillac location because the staff provides impeccable service and knows how to treat customers. I don't want anything from you guys but I really think you need to take a look at your appointment process in the service department. Side not I do like the service at the quick lube , usually a pretty quick process getting in their and that staff is very nice.

My experience starting out with this process was very good but went downhill quickly, my transmission went out on my vechile a month ago. I got the vechile in september and was told that because i didn't have a extended warranty , they really didn't have to do anything for me and was told they would look into it . I called back and I was insulted and was told I shouldn't be asking for a hand out in which i wasn't . It's really frustrating that i am paying on a loan that was not offered any sort of extra protection and now i am unable to drive it as I simply can't afford to repair it at the moment. As a single parent I am now reliant on the busing system which isn't a big deal but the fact that i was treated like dirt on the bottom of a shoe is just sad especially since I came in really humbled and respectful.


Pretty streamlined purchase experience. I didn't spend all day buying a vehicle, which has happened at other dealerships.

We spend 48,000 on a truck there. After that anytime we called for service they gave us the run around. First they told us they would get a replacement mirror for a plastic piece that fell off. This started in August. Mike Koorn told us that he would order the piece. We never received a call back to tell us it was in and when we called it was never ordered. We then finally got an appointment to take it in and get an oil change and new mirror. This is now December by the time we got a hold of someone to get it in. Then after a few days of them having it they ordered the wrong mirror. In the mean time we have been calling the warranty division where a guy named Matt “forgot “ to call me back and a the female on the warranty division answering machine has yet to call us back after leaving her two messages with questions about our warranty. We then stopped in there and spoke with a guy who drove it for an appraisal...we waited almost an hour to meet with him and then he told us he would run the numbers and ca is back. We have never heard from him again. That was three months ago.Last we had customer service tell us they would Give us a free oil change after we have been through so much....just to call us today and tell us they are charging us for the oil change. We have bought a lot of vehicles in our 40 years and never have we been treated this way. We never complain about anything but I know when I go to work I have to do my job or I would get fired. I am having a hard time understanding what is going on in this place but it’s not customer service.

Fox Ford Put My Life in Danger! I was told the rear drum brakes were long overdue and they were locked up. Upon receiving the truck back after being told it only needed new drums, pads and rear hardware, it still didn't seem to be quite right. However, I was assured after bringing it back again that things were fine, and the play in the brake pedal was fine; I was told even the mechanic working on my truck owns a similar one and that's how it is supposed to be. I took his word and drove the truck in that state for the duration of the summer in my trips between MI and NY. Upon my return to Traverse City this autumn, the brakes began to make noises I went to another shop to have them checked out. They checked the rear brakes and found loose parts inside the drum, and that the rear brakes aren't quite right, hence the rapid wear of the front brakes. I told them to leave the back untouched against their recommendation as I wanted to see how Fox Ford would handle this, and upon my arrival I was assured that everything would be covered as it seemed impossible to wear through a set of drum brakes in less than a year. Fox Ford replaced the rear brakes again, and it still seemed off. At this point, I returned to shop #2 where they found that the rear brakes were replaced, but were not connected. Meaning that for the period of time between the two visits, approximately a week, I was driving a car without rear brakes, and Fox Ford put my life in danger. This is completely unacceptable, and for that reason I will likely never frequent Fox Motors again. I don't understand how it can be forgotten to hook up the brakes, and how the vehicle wasn't test drove to confirm this prior to me reviving my truck back from the dealership. DO NOT TRUST THEIR WORK!

I went in to get an oil change yesterday and waited for a good hour while they let three cars that got there well after me in first. I went in to talk to nick the quick lube advisor and he didn't really have much to say or even acknowledge the fact that they let these three others cars in before me. He just said "some cars take longer than others to change the oil" I understand that! That wasn't what I was talking about. I was talking about the three other cars you let in before me while I had been in line well before them! Normally have a great experience at FOX but this one left a sour taste in my mouth not going back to this store again!!!

My husband and I recently needed to replace our old truck. We stopped in Fox and met with Zak Miller. We wanted something a year or two old, but were unsure what kind. Zak was extremely patient while we test drove various models. Once we found what model we wanted, he tracked down several that might meet our needs. Nothing seemed to faze him---he was always kind and patient. This was the first vehicle we have EVER purchased where we left the dealership feeling we got a great car at a great price. They even gave us more than we had anticipated for our old beloved truck. The whole experience was far above what we were used to in the past from other dealers. I own a 2014 Explorer Police Interceptor Utility and received a recall (17B25) in the mail. I set up my appointment with service to get it fixed along with one other recall (toe linkage) on the vehicle. I took my PIU in on Monday and was told it would be done Wednesday, Thursday or Friday at the latest. No call from them on any of them days. I had to call them on Friday to see what was going on with my vehicle. Tristan told me that they had fixed the second recall but I needed to make another apt with the body shop for the 17B25 because welding needed to be done and the service department couldn’t do that. Then I was also told that the 17B25 recall involved ~16 parts that needed to be ordered and that only 1 of the parts came in and the other 15 went to other dealerships. So now it’s been a month and a half and neither the service department OR body shop has gotten ahold of me. I called on Dec 24th to see what was going on. I was told by Pam (body shop manager) that I would get a call on December 26th with an update. Well, it’s the 26th and no call from them. It’s been about two months from when I first took it in and my recall still has not been fixed. I’m a reasonable person but this is just unacceptable. Fox motors needs to make this right. The recall 17B25 is about carbon monoxide leaking into the cabin of the vehicle.

Drove 2.5 hours one way to look at a "beater" truck that passed all the 'safety checks" because "otherwise it wouldn't be on our lot". Have purchased other low dollar cars at Fox and a New Car. Never had to worry about mechanical on the used cars. This truck had no ABS and the front end shook like crazy when you hit the brake hard. I know it was old and had some rust but doesn't safety check include a completely working braking system. "We can't do anything else on the truck" is what I was told. No sorry we didn't tell you about the brakes, etc... etc... WORST FOX EXPERIENCE EVER and this would have been my fifth FOX car.

Worst customer service experience I've ever had. This location's service center is an absolute nightmare. Their lack of communication and lack of concern for customers created an enormous waste of time and money for my family. The manager was completely dishonest, said he would fix the situation that they caused and then blew us off completely. If you want quality service don't go to this location, the only one I'll trust now is the one in Cadillac.

Easily the worst experience i have ever had at a dealership. Scheduled an appointment to look at a used truck, and found out they are very good at taking pictures and hiding problems. Vehicle wasn’t what i expected however i thought i could look past the cosmetic issues i didn’t know about and took it for a test drive. i left the parking lot, made it about two miles and tried to make a right turn to find out the turn signal didn’t work and almost got rear ended. About a mile later i tried the AC, it didn’t work, tried the heated seats and they didn’t work so i figured that was enough and went back to the dealership. I Pulled in and trying to find a spot and had to back up because i didn’t see it and the transmission didn’t have reverse. so after messing with it for a minute because i didn’t wanna block in anyone i finally got it to go in reverse and went to pull forward into the spot and the truck died. So i went in and told them what happens and the salesmen went to his boss for a few minutes and came back and told me all they could do was take a few hundred dollars off the price. What a joke, very clear they don’t care about quality or their customers. That vehicle should have never been on the lot.

Took my truck there on a Tuesday morning. No rentals available. No calls updating how long they would have my truck Had to rent a car to get back and forth to work for two days . Picked up truck on Thursday night and what was suppose to be fixed wasn’t except maybe the volume button on the steering wheel!! And they need to order the back window, which is fine!! But the bang in the rear end of the truck when shifting from first to second gear still happens .. pretty sure it’s the transmission. Which there was a recall on this...and the passenger window still does not work!!! Not sure what they did for 3 days??? Is it because I purchased the extra warranty they offered when I bought the truck? Bumper to bumper, electrical, the works..except “normal wear” . but they offered to change fluids and brakes etc... which would be over $1000.00 out of pocket cost! So disappointed.

Made an appointment to test drive a vehicle when I got there the salesman John I was told to ask for by Kristy who made my appt for me wasn't there so I had to wait for him to get there. When he got there he didn't seem to know which car I was scheduled to test drive so I told him. When he went to get the car he returned to me to let me know that the car was already out on a test drive and was not going to be back for 3 hours and if I wanted to come back I could or he could call me and let me know if the vehicle was still available. I live 45 minutes away and drove in just for this vehicle. I've been looking for 8 months for this type of vehicle with low miles in my price range and was excited that I finally found it only to be disappointed. I didn't need an apology for poor customer service I received, I needed the vehicle that was suppose to be there for me to test drive and potentially purchase.

I asked about a price for an oil change on a Range Rover. Has a Jaguar engine from when Ford owned that marque. Blunt response was “no idea”. I was happy to wait for a few weeks, or to get any other local recommendations. Same response: “no idea”. One star for lack of effort. Not rude or anything, and they may well do routine stuff better (I don’t know) but disappointing nonetheless. Will head over to Serra.

I would recommend Fox for service, but not for buying a new car. After owning Fords for 30 years, I now own a foreign made AWD electric sedan. Ford and the "other 2" refuse to get going with clean air initiatives and electric vehicle lineups, offering only a couple electric cars each. How can they expect much in sales when there is no selection? As usual, foreign companies are way ahead of them. I was dedicated to US made for years and years, but not any more...the environment is more important to me.

They discovered they weren't able to fix the problem because they didn't have the right tools, but they handled the situation amazingly. They took it to another dealer to get it fixed, and covered all costs above the original estimate. I was super impressed with their integrity and will return. Even tho the situation was unexpected and a little frustrating for both them and me, I really feel that they did their best and were very compassionate and humble. A nice lounge with coffee and snacks, work tables and wireless internet make this a very pleasing place to be if you are waiting to have your vehicle serviced. My boyfriend and I recently purchased a used Jeep Wrangler from Fox and our overall experience has been incredibly disappointing. Only 2 days after driving our Jeep off the lot we found multiple issues with it, the biggest issue being that occasionally the Jeep wouldn't start. We had to jump start it multiple times and brought it in for service right away. We were given a rental and have been trying to keep updated on the progress the Jeep has made, we've been told a wide variety of possibilities without any sort of outcome. It has now been in the service center for over a week, the only answer we have gotten is "we can't figure it out" I've driven the rental more than I've been able to drive my own Jeep, we're still waiting for a solid answer and at this point if we could, we would return the vehicle and go to a different dealership. This entire ordeal has been a massive headache for the both of us, and days after the excitement of purchasing the vehicle we have wanted for years this is what happened.

The lack of communication from the service department at Fox Motors is almost unbelievable. In the month, (2/5/18-today) that they have had my vehicle, I have received a total of 3 phone calls from their service team and those were in the first 3 days. Since that point, I have initiated all communication and I have experienced more excuses than solutions. I will be happy when I never have to do business with them again. There are a ton of great locally owned service garages in the area and I urge my Traverse City neighbors to look elsewhere to service their vehicles. Why can't I give zero stars?

Zac Miller has awful customer service. I paid cash for a used car in March and while we were there he was very inattentive and disconnected. THEY SOLD ME A CAR WITHOUT THE PERVIOUS OWNER SIGNING OFF ON THE TITLE. It took them 2 months to get my title to me and to get my plates. I had my battery die a few weeks ago and it locked my radio. I sent Zac Miller a email asking for the code, providing the serial number and didnt get an answer for a week. I emailed again and still nothing. The dealership itself is wonderful. But I would refuse to ever to business with Zac Miller ever again.

Came out to a flat the first day of a week long vacation. Drove from Glen Arbor to Traverse to get a plug at Belle Tire. Belle Tire told me it would be 3 hours so I went to Fox's service department. They were nice, and offered to get it done right away so I could go back to my vacation. If I lived in the area I would be buying my next vehicle from here.

Eric scheduled an appointment for the next day, met me when I dropped off and picked up the car, and provided quick shuttle service so I could get back to work. The shuttle driver, Bruce, was very pleasant and a great conversationalist. My car was vacuumed and washed when I picked it up. Thank you, you made my day and I will be back!

Recently took a car in on a thursday having issues related to a couple technical service bulletins. Fox got the car in the next the day and fixed one of the tsb's. I ordered a part from fox required for the repairs days prior to taking the car in. The part had been lost and had to be reordered and was told the part would be in on saturday and the car would be fixed when it got in. The whole time fox had been very hard to got ahold of. Between getting transferred to the service department and no one answering a phone and getting transferred to fox bmw. (another location entirely) After not being able to get ahold of anyone via phone I stopped in after work. After waiting in the lobby for 30 minutes for someone to walk in I am told the part won't arrive till Monday. Monday comes around no one is answering the phone. Stop in after work. Car isn't done and part won't be in till Tuesday. After many calls on Tuesday and a lot of transferring of phone calls I am told the part was in and they started working on the car. I stop in to fox after work to see what's going on with the car. The car isn't all set when I arrive. I go to pay the bill and ask if there is anything they can do to help me out with the hassle I went through. I am told by the cashier that the service manager isn't available till the next day. (Wednesday) I refused to pay the bill till i could speak with the service manager. At that point they grab someone of more authority. (assuming the store manager) she brings me the service manager. he asks me what he can do to make things right. I tell him a reasonable adjusted price. at this point he tells me there is nothing he can do. I again refused to pay my bill at which point he claims he will see me in court.

Trying to get vehicles in for service is harder than it needs to be. Appointments are "lost", maintenance takes far longer than promised and there is a distinct impression that because the vehicles were not bought at the dealership, maintenance can be put on a lower priority. Phone calls are not returned, messages not acknowledged, and no one knows why.
