Not the best experiences I've had with my car.
I found a used car online at this dealership that I was interested in buying for my mother. I called and dealt with a salesman named Brandon. He was very helpful and we came and purchased the car. On the way home the check engine light came on and I called Brandon back and he talked to his supervisor Scott and they decided to send a loaner car and bring the vehicle back and repair it. They went above and beyond what any dealership that I’ve ever dealt with has done.. If you are in the market for a vehicle I highly recommend going to see Brandon and Scott and the folks at Gates Hyundai in Richmond Ky. They will treat you right!!!
I am a very nervous buyer and have walk off a lot many times due to sales pressure. I live over an hour away from the dealership and was nervous about the ride and having to deal with the sales staff. I have to say the entire experience at Gates Hyundai was refreshingly simple. Eric was my sales rep but I am sure all the sales reps are equally friendly and not pushy. I expect my Volvo to last me many years but would refer all my friends and family to Gates Hyundai. Should I ever decide to trade I will definitely return to Richmond.

Very satisfied with this dealership! My husband and I were traveling 9 hours from home and had to stop here for help with some tire issues we were having on the road.. They took us in quickly and allowed us to wait in the waiting room with coffee and TV .. They then surprised us with a new 2018 car to drive while we waited.. We were able to go get lunch and kill time while they replaced 4 tires for us due to a tire defect we were having while traveling ( which could have been extrememly dangerous). They serviced our car within just a few hours and to our surprise even washed our car for us and had it waiting upon arrival back. Jennifer was most helpful and very professional.. Could not have been more pleased with the service department at this dealership.. I would highly recommened this dealership.. Thank you Gates Hyundai for your help. You were a blessing!

Watch these people closely...yes they have lower prices but they try and make up for it with fees fees fees etc added onto your loan so look at your paperwork closely before you sign.

Never heard of Gates Hyundai until I made this purchase. I'm in Houston! I looked around for months for the right car. Decided on a 2014 Hyundai Genesis but couldn't find it with the Saddle interior. Well, I found it on the internet and decided to make a purchase site unseen from you guessed it, Gates Hyundai of Richmond KY. Well I'm stoked...experience was fine, no BS at all. Brian was extremely helpful, I wired the money and then had a car transport company pick it up and deliver it. Everything came through as promised. I was terrified that something could be awry, hey...I mean its a lot to spend when you haven't seen the car in person or judged the people at the dealership. But happy to report they seemed perfectly straightforward. No nonsense..and Brian was responsive to my continual emails. Would do it a again in a heartbeat. Love it!

I purchased a Genesis in 2012 from this lot when it was Glenn Hyundai. The service was great and we were pleased, but over the last few years it is plain to see that this company has no real desire to support a premium brand like Genesis. In Lexington you will find Infinity, BMW, Volo, Mercedes and Audi all do a great job and Lexus does an exceptional job at making premium brand owners feel good about purchases with attentive customer service.
Ever since purchasing my car from them a few weeks ago, they have gone above and beyond as far as customer service. My sales rep Mike V. has been very accommodating and easily accessible. They agreed to tint my windows as part of the deal and although there were some issues, they have been easy to work with to get things resolved. I would highly recommend this dealership if you are in the market for a Hyundai. Their customer service is great!

I brought my car in after I had significant loss in acceleration. The staff was very friendly, attended to me immediately, and fixed my car (engine coil). I will also point out the facility looked very clean and professional. I was able to watch a World Cup match on their large TV while they worked on my car. What really made a difference to me was after I left. I got a few hundred yards up the road before my car started chirping. I turned around and brought it back to inquire. Even though I hadn't mentioned it when I originally came in, they were happy to look for me based on the problem I was describing. They identified that it was a loose belt, and tightened for me in just five minutes--no charge! That's some serious customer service. I highly recommend anyone looking for a car to try this place first!
Everyone has been so nice and helpful. Having my car serviced is so easy and if I need to leave it overnight, they offer me a rental. And the coffee offered in the service waiting area doesn't hurt either.

First I should describe my experience with Glenn Hyundai in Lexington... My 2015 Genesis coupe had a squeak coming from the passenger side. It had been there for a while, never thought anything of it. I took it to Glenn, where I bought it less than a year ago to get it fixed. They told me my was warranty was voided because I had an intake and springs from a different Genesis installed. I informed them that the law didn't work that way and they told me oh well we can diagnose it for $160 or some stupid amount. I drove home, squeaking all the way. Fast forward a few weeks to Gates. The service department at gates would get 20 stars if it were an option. They listened to my previous experience, told me to bring the car in because that wasn't in fact how warranties work. I was given a loaner car while the diagnosed and FIXED the problem in one day. Apparently two body panels had too tight of a tolerance and were rubbing. Nothing to do with anything I added. The car was fixed under warranty and then detailed without me asking. I will bring all my business here from now on. This Genesis was the 4th new car I have purchased from Glenn, and it was the last. Thanks for the amazing work Gates!

Great Deal and Fast Service! I saw a Honda Accord they had listed online and inquired about it. Brian got right back to me and we were able to negotiate through e-mail. Its an hour drive from my home to the dealership and I wanted to make sure I was not going there for nothing. They gave me a good price for my trade in and I got the car I wanted for the price I wanted. I was in and out of the dealership in under two hours. Everything was as they said it would be no hidden fees. Brian and the staff were great to work with, I would reccomend this dealership to anyone! :)

Smooth, great experience. Went back and purchased a Chevy Cruze for my daughter in 2016.. even a better experience. Had the car for about a week and had an issue with the brake lights. They came, picked it up, fixed it and returned the car at no charge while we were on our summer family vacation. Went back this year and purchased another car for my daughter, traded the Cruze.. purchased another Hyundai and it’s going flawless.. get this, a month later my mother needed a car, well.. went to see ole Buddy and was able to get her in a car, had some fun with the sales manager working the price down.. I mean come on.. I ought to have a chair with my name on it by now.. 4 cars in 5 years from the same guy.. just great people!
If I could rate this a zero I would. They lied to us multiple times during our experience with them. We visited Saturday and looked at a 2010 Chevy silverdo they had spray painted the underneath black so you couldnt see the rust(lie#1)! Then they said the truck wasnt suppose to be out on the floor to sale. They also lost our car trade in appraisal or just didn't do it. We called on Monday to see if they would put it on a rack for us to look at We made an appointment for 530. On Tuesday We got there and asked for our guy and he was busy with another customer(after we had an appointment with him for the same time) So we had a different guy. When we asked to see it under a rack he said no technician was there to do so. Left angry and mad. Do not buy off of this dealership!

If I could give negative stars, I would. My car was recalled for engine issues. I was told it would take maximum 5 weeks to fix this issue. 14 almost 15 weeks later, I'm told the same BS story . "It will be fixed today, it will be fixed today" I've been told that for over a week. I understand that they cant control when the new engine would come I'm. That's understandable. what I absolutely hate is their poor customer service and neglect for our needs. The engine has been in for 8 weeks and they promised it would be fixed then. Then, they charged us for a battery that they messed up!!! Our battery was fine when we dropped it off because they did a check to see what was wrong with our car and they stated the battery was fine. Now we have to pay them for messing our battery up??? We haven't even had the car for over 3 months!!!! On top of all that, it took them a solid 2 weeks to even look at our car!!! Never, ever take your car here unless you want to be without your car for the whole summer!! There is honestly something wrong with the freaking employees there. They dont call us at all. We call them. They arent fast. They don't care. And they are utterly useless when it comes to service. I can not Express enough how sick of these people i am. I can not Express how awful they are
Service department staff was right on time and had the paperwork all ready to go. My car was taken to the garage within 10 minutes of my arrival. The work was done and the car washed within an hour. Great experience!
I live in Tennessee but found the best deal at Gates Hyundai on my new 2015 Santa Fe. Their online pricing is fair and transparent. That's not always the case when looking at cars online. All it took was a quick call to Brian and within 20 minutes, I had a copy of the window sticker and buyer's order in my email. With a quick downpayment, the car reserved for me and I traveled with my husband and kids that week to Richmond to get the car. Everything was as discussed and Brian's service was excellent. I highly recommend purchasing from Gates and you are in good hands with Brian.

Service department took advantage of my wife today. She was supposed to get the 30k maintenance done and they tacked on a 4 wheel alignment and said it was a "regional" service they add and said its recommended every year. This is not a hyundai recommended service and the service woman tried to tell me otherwise on the phone. No where on their site do they mention their own recommended services. You don't do an alignment just because. I will never take our cars up there for service again.

As a veteran of the automobile business I am well aware of the games some dealers play, that Is why when my son and his wife were expecting their new baby and needed a new dependable family car we turned to Hyundai. After shopping our local dealers (we live in Cincinnati) and getting the runaround my daughter-in-law found the exact Santa Fe she wanted online at Gates Hyundai. A call to John May in Gates sales department verified the car was still available, then after a 100 mile trip to the dealer we were also helped by new car manager Rick Asher and Frank Jones the business manager patiently and thoroughly went over all the paperwork. Michael Merritt went over the operation of all the safety and fun features of the Santa Fe with Brooke making sure she knew how to use them all and helping her to learn how to hook up her phone. All in all a wonderful experience and well worth the trip, we will be back.

By far the worst car dealership experience yet. No one was interested or happy to sell a Used Car. They had no idea they had a Chevy Traverse on their lot even though it was parked right outside the showroom windows. Logan had 10 minutes before he clocked out so he didn’t wanna sell it. John should never sell another car before he brushes his teeth and learns customer service. Scott was “only doing his job” and going to our job and calling us 10 times a day asking for the same information we gave. We had phone calls when we weren’t at home or work asking where the Traverse was. We did buy the car to actually drive it on the road so why would it be in a driveway. Also our insurance went from $150 to $350 because they called and added a driver that wasn’t a driver of the Traverse. Overall the golf player dads of Gates Hyundai shouldn’t sell cars. Had the car for 35 days and still the paperwork wasn’t finished because they were too busy trying to get a proof residence.
I have had the best customer service at Gates Hyundai than any other car dealership I have dealt with in the past. Danielle has been especially helpful when I stop by with a question or concern. My last car was a nightmare to get repaired and just hearing someone say, "we can take care of that" is such a relief to me. I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a new or used car.
Absolute best dealership I've ever been to (and I've bought from 4 other places before. 3 sedan and 1 new). They picked me up, fed me, worked with me and my loan company, were super friendly, offered amazing deals, gave super service, answered all of my infinite questions, and I honestly cannot gush about them more without sounding like a shill. Hyundai has always been a backburner idea for me but after buying my new car here, I am definitely a customer for life!
I recently bought my 2nd vehicle from Gates Honda/Hyundai in Richmond. Brian McMahan and Gary Settles are 2 of the best in the business. They both went out of their way to make me feel like family. They found the exact car I wanted and kept it within the parameters I set. Everything was done with my personal customer experience in mind and I could not have felt more taken care of. Salesman wasn't pushy, gave better deal and most for our trade in than the other new car dealers we went to in the same area. Took longer than expected, could use improvement there but got what we wanted at the right price.

Almost everything went well with the appointment but the cost. I was told on the phone that my 7,500 mile service would be about $35 but my bill was almost $72. That is a very big difference!

I can’t say enough good things about this dealership. One of the best buying experiences I have had. My wife and I have bought two cars from there since last year, and I would encourage anyone in the market to check Gates our first. Their customer service and prices just can’t be beat. But the thing I like most about Gates though is how laid back and hassle free I have felt both times purchasing a car there. They have never pressured me or made me feel like I have at their dealers. They even offered to let my wife and I take the vehicle we were looking at for the day to run errands in town and make sure it fit our needs and lifestyle. Very poor customer service in the service department. They simply don't care. I went in for a transmission issue (rough shifting) and the lady said it's probably your transmission adapter valve needing reset. So they did that and gave it a car wash and called it a day. Never even test drove it afterwards or else they would have noticed that their solution did nothing. Immediately after leaving I still felt the issue and decided to go to the dealership in Lexington. Best decision I made, turns out I needed a new transmission and it was still covered under warranty! How about you test drive the cars you supposedly fix?
Stopped in this morning with a low tire indicator light that came on. Danielle and Jennifer are always helpful. Even got a car wash. Was back on the road in 10 minutes. Thanks
