Rented van on 1/20/17 through 1/23. Driver picked up from airport and took back to office. After signing all paperwork left parking headed to interstate van seemed out of alignment. Got on interstate back tires wobbled. Call company they said we could take to Pep Boys. On vacation do not want to spend time at a repair shop. We were traveling with a 3 month old baby and a 19 month toddler. Felt unsafe with letting the kids travel in van. Returned on 23rd tried to get for a few more hours due to flight being stayed and wanted to charge another 159.00. Did not get compensated for the condition on van at time returned. Will not rent again when we come back to Indy.

Watch the fine print. The mileage is NOT unlimited like it is with Enterprise. I will never rent again from this company. Total cost for 3 days was $775. Unlimited miles in a van from Enterprise for 3 days $307. You make the logical decision. ** Update** to the owners response. Call the other rental companies consumers and ask about the miles. You'll discover there are way better options then AVR. Do you're own research! I know for a fact Enterprise has unlimited miles no matter where you travel to. I just rented from them!! I think the logical choice is obvious. Stay away from little rental companies who over charge you.

They verbally told me that I could return the vehicle any time on the day it was due. However on the day I returned the vehicle they charged me the late fee any way. Also we would not have started the reservation when we did if there website was correct on summer hours. We were worried they would be closed.

I would never rent from this rental. I booked four months in advance and when the time comes to pick up vans for travel, they would say it is unavailable anymore at the last minutes! Horrible experiences led me to write this review. This type of business shouldn’t be tolerated.

Terrible customer service, great vehicle. I rented through Expedia and when I got there to pick it up I was told the insurance didn’t apply and that the van in the picture and on my confirmation wasn’t what I was going to get. They told me I had to cancel everything through Expedia and book only through them. Then they wanted more $$, all while I had eight people waiting for me to take them on our trip. It was a nightmare and I wouldn’t recommend renting from them. If I could have, I would have taken my business elsewhere, but when you are scheduled to leave an hour after your scheduled van pick up time, I was just stuck.

I was let down last minute by another rental location and called AVR in hopes of saving my vacation. I received an amazing minivan for a great price, which would have been enough for me to give 5 stars. However, the customer service rep also mapped put a few routes to my destination that avoided tolls and known construction delays. I know Google Maps can do that, but I appreciated the attention. I also appreciated that I was able to get in, out, and on my way in a very timely manner. Next time won't be my last resort, but my go-to.

The equipment was ok, definitley not high end, but ok. The customer service is horrible. They treat you like they assume the only reason you are renting from them is so you can damage their equipment. And they treat you like this before you even sign the agreement. when I returned it the lady had a very short and sour attitude. I have rented from them frequently for school and church. Guess I will find someone else. Just don't like being treated bad as a customer.

I will never rent from these people ever again. I decided to give one of the "little guys" a shot at my business.....and what a mistake that was. Their pick up process is ridiculously slow and cumbersome. Their staff is unfriendly and oafish. The van was nearly brand new...no problems there. At the end of my rental, I got hit with a variety of hidden charges which tremendously increased the cost of my rental. When I argued about the charges, the manager completely lost his cool. It felt like there might be a fist fight at the counter. Plain and simple....these people suck. UPDATE: I was a bit shocked to see AVR could possible have a three-star rating, but then noticed their high rankings are all from "Local Guides" - and I can only assume those positive reviews were paid for. Nice try...everyone else who wasn't paid to rate you told the truth. You guys suck. Get new management.

Very expensive, and the worst customer service ever! We rented 2 15 passenger vans. They were dirty and smelled really bad! When I mentioned it to the staff there. we were told, "Its the Chevy smell!" It was so ridiculous it was laughable. The first day we used the vans, one of the vans the steering wheel shook going over 50 mph and shook violently maneuvering down the exits. Upon returning the vans, I told the staff the van was a death trap, to she surprisingly replied, "Yeah, we know!" Needless to say, we will never rent from them again!

AVR has been most accommodating during the times we've needed a rental. On some days we needed two rentals. I have always gone in person, so I've dealt (first hand) with the staff. Always pleasant. Doug (I believe the manager) has been very helpful, and has always done what he could to assist us. I have been a return customer and will be. Thank you

Horrible company, when we arrived I knew we should have kept our reservation with another but these guys called us soliciting out business. Said they’d match our current rates, on paper they did but when I got my final bill it was $300 per vehicle more. These guys are horrible, argued on the phone and was told they’d finally adjust, just got new receipt with no change... ugh

Had the van we rented been in better condition, the star rating would be higher. I used AVR for what I should consider a last minute rental as they are the only company in the Indianapolis area that would rent a 15 passenger van to someone with a debit card. I was a bit concerned given the amount of negative reviews there were related to customer service. Fortunately for me my experience was much better than customer service related reviews would suggest. I found the people (Brad, Doug, and Monique?) to be professional, courteous, and helpful. Unfortunately, the van we rented had more dents and scratches than a golf ball at a driving range. The seats may or may not have been original to the van, had foam padding exposed, and have not been properly cleaned or deodorized in quite some time as evidenced by the foul odor and copious stains. We did have the option of upgrading to a new van for an extra $50/day, but that was cost prohibitive. Here are a few things that I learned about renting a 15 passenger van that will help you have a better experience. 1. Many auto insurance companies (and major credit cards) will not cover you while driving a 15 passenger van so be prepared to either set up a special policy ahead of time with your insurance company and bring proof of policy with you, or purchase the required insurance on site when you rent the van. 2. AVR is the only company in this area that will let you rent a 15 passenger van without a major credit card. 3. Even though they are a “national” chain, locations are sparse especially on the eastern part of the country. Most people would think this is not a big deal and would be correct until something happens to your van. Unlike bigger companies, if you are taking the van on a long road trip, there is no national network of locations and vehicles to just swap out if something mechanically happens to the vehicle you rent. This happened to me, and the staff were great and assisted me the best they could over the phone, but I ended up having to deal with their fleet maintenance provider and that was not a pleasant experience. 4. AVR has a pricing structure similar to the discount airlines. Meaning there is a charge for EVERYTHING beyond the most basic definition of a rental, so make sure to read all the rental terms and conditions on the website BEFORE making a reservation. 5. Booking directly through their website is a bit different and other websites. They do not ask for credit card information or billing information at the time you make the reservation. Overall the van served its purpose. I had a vehicle that I could rent to drive my entire family together on a vacation. The drive train performed beautifully and got us to and from our destination. If the seats would have been better taken care of, and the exterior in better condition I would have given this experience a better rating. That being said, given that AVR is a smaller company, I would caution anyone thinking about renting a van for any destination more than 100 miles from the rental location.

Great experience! Rented a mini van to drive my family to gulf shores and was skeptical after reading bad reviews on my way to pick up the van. Quite the contrary as my rental was very clean and like new! The van was perfect for us all week and when my fiancé called to ask how much it would be to keep it an extra day they said...no charge!

Complete shakedown once you get there. The guy at the counter changed the terms because I was local (I clearly booked it with unlimited miles, but he put a limit because I “didn’t fly in to get it).” False advertising of where their location is. It’s not at the airport, they pick you up in a shuttle and drive you there: I had my wife drop me off at the airport because that is where they said it was—otherwise had I known I would have had her drop me off at their location so I didn’t have to wait so long for the driver to come get me. The guy at the counter was unbelievably rude & blatantly lied about the “terms” that he said was in the fine print on Expedia. (The limited miles if you are local, and the actual location of their facility) I went back to Expedia and went through the entire booking process on my phone to show him he was wrong. I also showed him my confirmation email, which confirmed the unlimited miles and that supposedly they were at the airport. He was so belligerent, and continued to argue with me about how he was right, but he didn’t have time to show me how wrong I was. I would never rent from them again.

Reserved two 15 passenger vans weeks ago and was told two days before my pickup date that 'due to third party sites over booking, outside their control, your reservation has been canceled'. Not sure why I got bumped when I booked directly and not via a third party site. No offer of other means of transportation (ie 12 passenger van). Quite shady business.

I will never do business with travelocity or AVR Van rental. I flew to Portland Oregon with 5 others. After we arrived I was to pick up a courtesy phone press #1 for courtesy service. Well first off there was no courtesy phone line direct to AVR. The employees had no clue who they were. I had to look up there number call from the information desk. There was no shuttle available period. I had to pay 50.00 for taxi to get to the office. (That was reimbursed) but how inconvenient? I go inside, their quote doesn't match mine. Of course theirs were higher. I didn't care about the money, I just wanted my vehicle so we could start our vacation. She insisted I call my insurance company to see if they would cover the vehicle, which they did. Sign a 100 papers and do my own inspection..on,& on....the longer I stood there the more fired up I was getting. We open up the back doors a back plastic panel fell out on the ground. No biggy. Got on our way...when we return,,. No shuttle service, no place to return car at the airport, so I dropped everyone else off with the luggage. I had to call a lyft to meet me at the car rental place that is 6.4 miles away. (So again ,had to pay out of pocket expense.) And traffic was bumper to bumper. I actually thought I was going to miss my plane..I'm sorry but this whole ordeal was not a great experience. All I can say is #dontdoit

Do not rent from this company! Requested a Ford Transit or similar make/model from priceline. Arrived to pick up Van and received a 2018 gmc savana. Sales rep Doug argued with me stating the "GMC was similar to the transit". Transit has individual seats reclining with extended roof and more options. The Van had been wrecked on both sides the front doors did not seal properly (terrible road noise and draft). The interior had a terrible smell with floor mats covering the carpet. The windshield wipers needed replaced, left streaks. The Van had 30,000 miles on it and the brakes were squeaking. The van was very basic and uncomfortable seats with stains. Very unhappy experience with the customer service representative. I called to inform Doug the van was in need of multiple repairs and he again argued stating "that van is a 2018 and i doubt it has issues like that". Informed it takes 2-7 business days to receive deposit back, it took 4 days. I have rented from enterprise multiple times and never had an issue like this. I will not return to AVR/ACE rent a car.

Don't use this company - deceitful!!! Add said unlimited mileage. Called and confirmed and made reservation. On date of pickup was informed van was not unlimited mileage - .56 per mile over daily limit. Scammers.

I do not recommend this place @ all. First of all, they emailed me 2 days prior to me leaving on vacation and stated that all 25 vehicles were broken down and could not provide me with any other vehicle for my troubles. They were very short and non-chalantly "Well what do you want us to do? I had to cancel 15 other people as well". They also have the worse customer service ever. When asked to speak with a rep. I was directed to a gentleman by the name of Darius who was extremely rude as if I had no reason to be upset. He also refused to connect me or give me the number to management. They kept directing me back to the actual place I rented from. I ended up having to go 2 hours out to rent from ABC Rental in Harlan, IN who actually helped out tremendously! If anyone is looking for a good van rental, I HIGHLY recommend ABC Rental. Customer service was on point and very professional. DO NOT RENT FROM AVR RENTAL. I REPEAT DO NOT EVER RENT FROM AVR RENTAL.
