Conveniently tried to triple our price when we landed in USA citing that we needed a UK driving licence to proceed with our booked price via EuropCar. Ended up paying double what we were when we booked. Avoid.

Very poor O'Hare pickup service . We've been waiting outside O'Hare terminal 2 for 45 minutes watching all of the other rental shuttles take people of to their cars. Still no advantage shuttle. Phone number online rang up some (admittedly very nice) person in a call center who was only able to tell me the shuttles comes every 10 minutes... I'll update the review to include the rental experience when (if) we ever get to our car. Update: after around 50 minutes, they picked us up. Blew another 20 minutes at the office because, of the 3 employees there, only one would check people in. Car was clean and it worked, so I'm bumping them to 2 stars, because at least they had that.

Took 15 minutes for the shuttle arrive. All other companies had at least two if not three shuttles in the same time. Located very far from the airport. Pre paid for a mid size suv - all they had were minivans. Eventually I received a scratched up sedan. Not OK. Had to wait 15 minutes for a return shuttle as well. To top it off, they stopped me off at arrivals, nowhere near an entrance. Had to lug all of my suitcases up to arrivals without a cart. The customer does not come first in this establishment.

The reviews I read were spot on. Long line to pick up car, older vehicle, more miles than I’ve ever had on a rental...however, new cars break down too so for more than half the price of the other major car rental companies, I was willing to give it a try. We got a free upgrade because they ran out of economy cars which is what I booked and had an awesome, safe trip through Arizona in a great vehicle with a sun roof and everything! Would definitely use them again.

On check in i opted to get the EZpass and paid 12.95 a day for it. When i got to my first Toll booth i realized that the car didn't have it. So i had to stop and pay tolls for the entire trip. IWhen i returned the car the lady that checked it in was the rudest person i have ever dealt with in service. I was trying to explain the situation and she cut me off and said "go to the counter" i tried to tell her i was running late for my flight and she raised her voice and said "NOTHING I CAN DO"

Great experience. The staff was friendly and the location is easy to get to. There is even a gas station just down the street for quick fill ups before you return the car. Also, i left my phone in the shuttle as i was leaving. A staff member quickly grabbed the phone and put it in safe keeping until i was able to come pick it up. If i had anything negative to say it was that the shuttle took longer than normal picking me up and dropping me off. If they could add a couple more shuttles to the rotation that would help. Otherwise a great location!

Closes at 10PM.....at one of the busiest airports in the country. Your flight slightly delayed? You are screwed with no flexibility. You get what you pay for. Please stop giving these economy businesses your money. Pay a little extra and go to one of the bigs with customer service and operations late.

I wanted to add a day and was told it would be 30 dollars plus tax and fees. I was in Arizona. I haven't rented a car in 25 to 30 years ago. They asked if I wanted to add a driver and I said yes. Little did I know it cost me 68 dollars for a driver who never drove the car. The man also talked me into not filling the gas he said gas was cheaper with them then any other place in area. When I got the receipt I noticed they charged me 53 dollars even though the tank was a little less then half. The tank was 18.8 gallons at 279 came out to 5245. Never using this company again

Refused to change the insurance without going in to the rental center. Pushed hard for us to get the rental insurance and then we couldn’t change it when we found out we were already covered by our car insurance. Will never rent from them again.

Returned my car at 4:45 this morning. No shuttle, office was not open...I had an early morning flight and by the grace of God another customer, who was also returning his car, shared his uber with me. Otherwise, I would have missed my flight. I will not be renting from Advantage again.

I have used EZ many times before in Florida which is why I picked Advantage in Chicago, even though some reviews were tough. However, things were great for me. The guy at the desk was friendly as was the girl at the garage and even the guy at the exit who helped me when I had a stupid question. I got a Jetta with 46,000 miles on it but looked and smelled new. I would use them again. My only negative was I wasn't sure how to find the rental desks in the airport. I called Advantsge customer service and the friendly message told me their operating hours were until midnight EST (it was past that in my time zone) and it hung up. I tracked down an information desk at O"Hare and got directions but would have expected longer customer service hours from Advantage.

The wait to get a car was long, about 30 minutes, bit it's what is expected when you want a deal. The man that helped is was really nice and helped is upgrade our car, etc. When we bought it back it only took 5 min. The shuttle was there and we just hopped on. I would go with advantage again if it was the best priced.

Other than being a bit further a drive than the other agencies, Advantage is clean and pleasant. And the speed of getting you in and out makes up for the rider on the van. Plus, they don't try to upsell you collision protection it a full tank of gas.

Rented through EZ/Advantage. Got to the kiosk around 530 AM and no one was at the desk. Walked around for a while then someone finally came out. Found out they didn't have my car ready so had to wait 30 minutes for them to find one even though I had a reservation. What's the point of having a reservation if you don't even have the car in stock? Other than that, they had rates that were half of the big brand companies so no complaints there.

Awful experience in Ft. Myers! We reserved a Ford Mustang or similar and when we got to the office, no convertibles were available. They told us they expected 4 to be returned in about an hour. They offered to give a car to use and then took our phone numbers and hotel information so they could drop one off when it came back. We got a dirty Rav 4. They didn't call us so after a few hours we called them and left a message. That was Friday. No call from the them at all Saturday or Sunday. We called and left a message every day. Then when we returned our car, they said they don't have a phone number to the office. ??? Really? The sheriff's department called and spoke to a rep while we were waiting. So I guess they do have a number. Jamie took our number (again) and said the manager, Ernesto would call us on Monday. Still no phone call. *surprise* This is a terrible company with terrible customer service!! Avoid at all costs!!

Fast, friendly, no mark ups. Woman at desk talked so fast made me wonder if it was some sort of sales ploy. Had to ask her to repeat on multiple occasions just to avoid signing up for things i didn't need like a toll pass. This happened to the four people in front of me in line, so I know it wasn't just my hearing or a class issue.

Bad news! This is a horrible company to do business with. We waited in line 2 hours to pick up the car. The salesman totally lied to us regarding our charges. We issued a complaint with the company on the phone and they never called us back regarding the complaint. I tried to fill out the review after the rental and the website for the review was broken! The salesman at the counter was really quick to change up our contract without saying what he was doing. He said we would have the choice to bring back our car full or bring it back empty. He also charged us for a second driver for each day and when I asked about it he said we didn't have a choice. When we went down to get the car the lady at the counter said he was wrong about the fuel option that he tells lots of people that. We asked for a manager and after 30 minutes when he arrived he said that the salesman tells people that but it is not true! Here's an idea - fire him!

The reviews of this place had me very worried. They were by far the cheapest option so I decided to place my bets and go for it. And overall it was a good experience. The shuttle to the location from the airport was timely and the driver was friendly. We picked up the car on a Monday afternoon, and only had to wait 5 minutes in line. The staff was friendly and helped to make sure we got the best plan possible. They didn't try to sell us any insurance or special coverage. The car was ready and clean. When we dropped the car off, a staff member immediately came to check us out, and we left without issue. Now here are my two complaints: 1) On the return to the airport, the bus driver sat in the back eating is lunch, in full view, and making 5 of us wait in the rain before he took us to the airport. 2) the phone customer service was awful. They sent us to the wrong location for the shuttle, gave us incorrect information multiple times, and honestly did not even know company policies.

Staff it's friendly but anyway they don't really like to explain you for what are u paying. Car was clean, nice and new. But anyway I will never do advantage, NEVER! Last time when I rented a car that was enterprise, and I payed 70$ a day for a new Ford Focus, pretty nice car too and I thought that price it's too high (21 years), after that I decided to try advantage thinking that price it's going to be better than enterprise because I looked online and there was a price of 40$ a day and guess what, I payed 300$ for two days ( 22 years old now) for a Toyota Camry. Lucky they cause I was in a hurry but I'll be ready for next time. People save your money! We deserve less prices!!!

Terrible company with horrible practices. I returned my rental after topping off the gas myself. They do not have my sign anything and rush me to the airport. While in line for TSA, I get my emailed receipt charging me $171.88 Refueling Fee. I know they did not put any gas in it since I returned it full. Then I have to talk to customer service who said the only was to reverse this charge is prove that I bought fuel myself. Luckily I kept the receipt for gas because normally I do not. This is some really shady business practices. Keep your receipts and rent elsewhere.

Waited almost an hour at the airport for shuttle, and it took two phonecalls for a pick-up to arrive. The office location is pretty far away, but the driver was freindly and chatty. At the office I recieved a car with af broken power outlet. When I complained, I immedietly received another car - no problems. The retur of the car went smoothly, but then the problems started. I was charged 114 USD extra on my creditcard with no explanation. When I complained, it took the company over a month to reply and inform me, that the extra charge was for fuel. Even though I had indeed returned the car with a full tank as agreed. I am never renting with this company again!

I rented an Advantage car through Priceline. I prepaid Priceline for the rental. I added coverage at the airport. When it came to pay the final amount, Advantage did not show the full amount for my prepayment to Priceline and overcharged me for the balance. They state that the difference between what I paid Priceline and what Advantage is showing as amount prepaid is the booking fee Priceline gets. After multiple calls to Advantage and Priceline the issue is not resolved. I've had good experiences with Priceline for cars and hotels so I feel this is Advantage's issue. I won't rent a car from Advantage ever again.

WORSE RENTAL COMPANY EVERR!!! They bait you in by the low online rates -- but by the end of the rental you be charged AT LEAST $200 more than what was quoted at the front counter. Do not waste your time. I am still fighting a battle to get my overcharges refunded back to me. I traveled last minute across country for a funeral and it is sad how they have taken advantage of me and other customers.

The car lot is far from the O’Hare airport. But the shuttle bus driver who picked me up was friendly, and the guy who checked me in was polite and efficient. The Chevy Impala that I got was a bit old and banged up. No back-up camera. When I returned the car, it was inspected by the rudest person I’ve encountered in a long time. When I asked her name, she said, “It’s Bridget. Do you want me to spell it?” She barked orders at me. “Park the car there!” “Put the GPS back in the box! That’s not my job!” When I asked her to “please” pop the trunk for me, she said, “In a minute! I’m busy doing my job!” When you’re trying to compete with the bigger companies, providing polite, friendly service is essential. If Priceline offered me an Advantage car again, I’m afraid I would pass.

The price was the only good thing about our experience. The office was hot and dirty. The desk personnel were not in a hurry and not especially helpful. Now for the car...it was dirty. Scraps of paper in the passenger compartment. Garbage in the trunk and a dollar bill in the passenger door pocket. The car was filthy, the seats were stained, the windshield was wiped with something but the bugs and dirt were just swirled around on the inside and outside. No washer fluid just topped this experience off. The car return was only slightly better. The Securitas security guy seemed to be in charge of directing people dropping off and picking up. I had to move the car two times before the check in rep decided to mosey on out. The bus ride to the airport they insisted on loading our bags. There were 7 people on the bus, 3 of the 5 bags were thrown into the bag area. I guess you can't blame all of the broken items in you luggage when your bags are handled like this before the airline even gets the bags. The driver was either full gas or full brakes. Not a fun ride. Thankfully the traffic was light.

Do Not take this company. We booked via Europcar and it was a bad idea. We had a really bad experience with Cassandra at Advantage rent a car. This woman is mean, not welcoming, not helpful at all and make no effort with foreigner people how try to understand her. We’ve seen her when we arrived and when we left the car and the both experience was bad. After leaving the keys, we had the surprise to receive the invoice with 44$ extra because she says we had 2 hours late check out but it was not the case, we had to wait when we arrived for 30 minutes because she was the only person available at the desk and we waited for 30 minutes after leaving the car because she had to check the car. Got off to a bad start when I found it closes at 8pm. Shuttle bus is rather infrequent in comparison to the big guns (you'll see a dozen from each competitor go by before you see the Advantage bus). Bus driver had a heavy right foot. Once there everything was fine. My Eurocar booking gave a good rate with lots of added insurance which meant no hard sell by the cashier. Easy return.

I had to rate this spot because of the number of abnormally low ratings. My experience from start to finish was great. $70 for an economy car for 2 days. No hidden fees. Shuttle driver was the nicest guy. Just expect a longer shuttle to and from the airport only because their lot isn't directly on O'hare's grounds, BUT that means they don't have to charge airport tax.

After reading the reviews on their website I was literally expecting the worst but was wrong. The driver (Robert I think was his name)was very nice, picked us up within 15 minutes of waiting, had a very nice experience with the guy at reception who was warm, professional and friendly. Received a nice and clean car, met very nice staff who received the car back, and the driver who took me back to the airport was nice too. I went there on a Monday around 4pm and returned it on a Thursday around 5pm, not sure if that made any difference. Was pleasantly surprised.

If you rent A Car from Advantage and go out of Illinois, you are in Nightmare, Last week I rent a car, and drive to MA and NY state, I want to buy the Toll pass program, however the clerk told me their toll pass only can be used in IL, if you drive out IL , the toll pass can't be used. So I just give up buy this service, and drive thru the manual toll lane as possible as I can. however, In NY and MA state, all lanes are electrical toll pass system. so I want to pay my toll fee by plate, but MA only accept the car owner to do that, when I discussed this situation with Advantage customer service, she told me I must pay 25 /Day admin fee for that... So If you just want to drive in IL, it is no problem, otherwise, you will be charged much more admin fee, $25/day...

Location is far from the airport. Shuttle took about 20 minutes to travel from terminal two to off site rental location. While prices are lower, I'd recommend a name brand such as Hertz, Enterprise, Budger or Avis all if which are much closer and offer more frequent shuttles. The checkout staff however were wonderful. Kind and very friendly which was a welcome surprise.

I have used you folks now 3 times. Each time my service was prompt, my cars were clean and in great condition, better than the major chains. Your rates are even lower than the major chains with whom I have a corporate rate. Also, there was once an error on my invoice, and the local major correctly corrected it after 1 call to your customer service center. Very consistent product and I have used you now in Dallas and Chicago. Will use you in the future.

Not sure how this can be considered a business. Office computers don’t work for check-in, nobody knows how to address or fix. First time trying to rent with Advantage, need to stick with actual rental car companies, lesson learned. Car not ready, given option to wait 20 minutes or just take something else. I’m the first person here, cannot imagine what happens when it’s busy.

I was charged an additional $202.16 because I forgot to top off the tank prior to dropping off the car. It had maybe 2/3 of a tank left. When I called customer service to explain that I was mistakenly charged for a full tank the response was that there was nothing she could do to help.

Staff were friendly. But, Waited three hours at O’Hare, initially told that they did not have any cars, despite reservation, finally got an economy car instead of compact. Charged for liability insurance which was included in my agreement. However, the car was replaced with a fullsize one two days later and when returned the car was not charged for liability insurance, after several phone calls and emails. Advantage Customer care service is also very helpful.

The associate handling our reservation couldn’t muster the enthusiasm of a mole in winter. He mumbled all the terms and conditions and didn’t mention the $200 deposit. The dude giving out the keys upstairs was even worse. We were just standing there waiting for him to process the paperwork when he of the blue asked if we spoke English. Um.. we had already exchanged greetings and spoke for a bit. Car is fine. Never again.

We rented a toyota rav4 but minutes after leaving the airport an alert went off stating to take the vehicle to a Toyota dealer for service. We returned to Advantage and spoke to a rude employee who said there were no other vehicles available except for a huge pickup truck or a minivan. We chose the minivan which was dirty inside and out. For our inconvenience we requested navigation but the stupid employee said minivans don't have navigation. We discovered the van actually did have navigation. Just some advice to Advantage.....train your employees on customer relations and vehicle options. We will not use your business in the future!

They are giving a wrong information regarding the location. I reserved car on Expedia and choose the drop off location near Gurnee IL, but they have only one place in Des Plaines IL. Do not use this company for rent a car, Enterprise or Hertz have multiple locations everywhere. I’m so disappointed, loosing my time and my money .

My worst rental car experience so far. We had to pay for road assistance and there was no explanation why. Staff talked really fast and it was hard to stay in control what you are signing. Car was in good shape and return without problems.

Worst rental company I have ever dealt with. Cassandra at the front desk was extremely rude and didn't inform me of all the rental requirements. When I dropped off the vehicle the day of my flight the same girl (CASSANDRA) charged me over $130 dollars extra on top of my total for the rental for 4 days because of bringing the vehicle back "3 hours late". I was charged more then my daily rate including rental and insurance. I basically paid 2 days extra for being "3 hours late" which I was never informed of a time to have the car back specifically. When I asked her about the extra charges she just looked at me with a dirty look and said nothing at all. I travel monthly and go fly into O'Hare Airport 5 times a year to visit family and get a rental car every time. I will never use this company again and will advise others to not use the company as well. The customer service was horrible and the whole experience wrecked my trip completely.

I was apprehensive after reading reviews - I had booked thru a third party, non refundable ,etc. Bottom line - everything was perfect! The new rental car 'hub' at O'Hare is great - one shuttle for all agencies. Everyone I interacted w/was professional and friendly - especially Mr. Sherman at the counter. No pressure for extras, he explained paying for tolls etc. Vehicle was clean inside and out - no issues during my week+ rental. Definitely recommend!

Faster than a plane taking off from O'Hare my agreed rental went from $350 to $590 and I didn't get a Camry. Maybe I should accept some responsibility for my naivety in thinking there would have been some basic cover without having to understand the insurance language of a foreign country. Maybe they should offer the essentials when you're making the booking? As far as I can establish you need CDW to cover the cost of the car being written off, a quick search on Google and I found one site offering CDW for $120 for the year along with SLI, which is half the price Advantage charged for two weeks without the extra SLI Advantage would charge for. The other scam I was prepared for, which is the Enhanced Roadside Assistance available for $35 for two weeks from an independent provider. I also took heed of other warnings and kept sufficient evidence to prove the car was fully refueled on return. I think it is shameful that a company can use sparse and misleading information to take advantage of the ignorant, still there'll be another fool along shortly!

Absolutely TERRIBLE company. Horrible pick up at the airport. Offered a free upgrade, then charged it...classic skeezy car rental tactic when picking up your rental at 10 pm after flying all day. This company is the worst of the rental agencies...AVOID THIS ONE! Also, never fall for a "manager's special" it's more expensive in the end and is their bottom end vehicle. EDIT - Thank You Advantage for the canned response...Clearly you take customer service seriously. So serious you have a pre-generated apology statement to reply to bad reviews.

They will charge you for gas even if you return the car with full gas, we literally filled the tank up 2 minutes prior to returning it. The lady we returned the vehicle to said everything was OK and then they charged us 11$ per gallon!!

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! WOW what a horrible experience. The worst car rental experience I have ever had, TWICE. Yes, against my better judgement I used them twice. The first time: Getting ripped off. So they as you to electronically sign, and then they place your signature and initials all of the contract for you. After telling them i did not want insurance (who gets insurance), they put my signature on the insurance box requesting it. They charged me an extra $40 for that. I called to clear up the confusion, thinking they would understand. instead they stuck to their guns and completely ripped me off. The second time: This time i made sure they didn't screw me on the insurance, but they still screwed me. she told me the gas was going to be $2.00, where in fact it was $2.15, the first scam. Then i went get my full-size car that i had reserved over a month in advance, only to find out they didn't have any full size cars. they offered to up-grade me FOR AN ADDITIONAL COST! Yes, they were at fault and then tried to charge me extra for their screw-up. After almost losing my mind they offered me a mini-van at the same cost. so out of frustration and wanting to end this transaction with the idiots with ZERO customer service skills, i took the van. The Van had dents/scratches everywhere and the driver side window didn't work. I REPEAT; DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. IT IS A HERTZ COMPANY SO DON'T USE THEM EITHER.

Rented car from here, but due to some reason had to return it at midnight. The place was closed. I called customers care and they were closed too. If you can not keep 24*7 customer support then you should not be doing business.

Good service by advantage, they emailed previous to my arrival outlining costs and deposit I would need. Seems agent was working towards selling extra products and added them to sale without advising and transaparency something I am usually alert to, but after long flight failed on this occasion due to lack of transparency. In future will stick with Budget rent a car who I have never had this problem with. Good car, good pre customer service, but poor service by off airport agent, who rushed me and dealt me a bad deal in the end!

Worst experience ever. We reserved a car and when we got there they said they had no cars available and that we had to wait 15-20 minutes. The staff is completely unprofessional and rude. The first car they gave us the air conditioner was broken. All that blew out was hot air. The second car they gave us the engine made a funny sound and the brakes did not stop and did a jerky thing when ever when we to a stoplight. We would press the brakes and it would still keep going. We went to take it back and they had a guy drive it and he said everything was fine except for when you stop at a stoplight. They refused to give us a car exchange. We told them we were not driving that car with the brakes like that. They said the only way we can exchange it is if we have a full tank. Which is ridiculous because why would we stop by in the middle of the vacation if there was nothing wrong with the car. The manager took forever to see us so we could explain the situation. Then we discovered that this is the second time the car has been returned and complained on. We paid 409 dollars for this rental. Because there was two people on it and they have a 110 dollar fee for being underage. For how much we have paid. There cars suck and there service is even worse. We finally decided we would just fill up the tank because the manager said that’s what we needed to do in order to exchange the car or else they would charge us 9 dollars a gallon. We refused to drive it so a worker drove one of us over there and she barely filled up 1 and a half gallon. I decided to wait while they went to put gas and I could hear the workers and the manager mocking us. One of the workers said this company has problems all the time. So ridiculous. We will never rent from this company again and suggest you don’t either.

Very disappointed. We waited 45 minutes for a shuttle and when we tried to call for help, no one answered our calls. A very unfriendly woman named Cassandra assigned us a car. Upon sitting in it, we smelt vomit immediately and looked around to find it in the back seat and all over the seat belt. She exchanged us for another car and when inquiring to see about a discount we had for our poor experience, she said, "discount for what?" Will not rent from advantage again.

Arrived O'Hare very early in AM...took shuttle to new rental facility then agent (Cassandra) quickly got me through the sign-in process then directed me to attendant for my car. Drove 321 miles and returned late that evening, effortless check-in, and caught my flight on-time. Was pleased that all Advantage personnel were primed to work no matter the time of day or night. It would be helpful if Advantage had driving maps to help get renters from to major highways from the new O'Hare car rental facility.

I was given wrong information about returning the rental and was charged twice the amount expected. Spent a long time on the phone trying to resolve it and was told they would escalate it and I would get a call back within 48 hours. I did not, so I called again and was told they would not credit anything and that I cannot speak with any manager as they do not accept calls. Spoke with Jose ID# 635171. While he was articulate and clear in his explanation, he was condescending and accused me of not being upfront and truthful in my questions. When I asked for his name and ID he quickly changed his manner and became more conciliatory and said he would credit me $9.00 of the $55 extra charge. Too little, too late! I am very unhappy with this and will dispute this extra charge further.

I was completely robbed at the advantage Rent a car in Orlando International airport. They stayed true to their name and took Advantage. We get to the service counter and inquired about extending our car rental for an additional day. The clerk told us she would take care of it. My wife asked would you be any additional charges the clerk said no she would take care of it signed here for the additional day. When we arrive to The area with the cars they gave me a jeep renegade. When I got in the car put my seatbelt on the entire side molding fell off on top of me. I walked back to the clerk and she just told me that it was fine just put that plastic piece in the backseat. When she noticed my demeanor Then she said do you want me to switch your car? We switched to a Toyota RAV4 and it was completely filthy. We get to the hotel and my wife noticed that the insurance was not on the policy that we received. I call customer to have them verify if the insurance was placed on there or not they told me it was not an asked me to go back to the airport to have a car inspected and have the insurance placed on the policy. It’s advantage of the opportunity to tell the customer service representative that the car was filthy and two of the tires were very low it started to wobble when I was on the expressway. I travel back to the airport through the Corredor down the escalator into the rental agreement center spoke with a manager explained to her everything that was happening And it seemed like she didn't care. She went into the back came back to the front had me sign a piece of paper and told me the insurance was on and that she would give me a $20 discount. Two days later I look at my statement and noticed that I was charged an additional $79 as well as $377. The original lease was for $177. I called Customer Service and asked him to explain what was happening she told me that the representatives at the airport canceled my last lease and Started a new lease. After speaking to Gaby over the phone it didn’t seem like she could help me out at all she had no resources I could call to get this taken care of. Do yourself a favor and don’t rent from this car rental place unless you want to be taken advantage of.

Chicago Ohare - Service bad from beginning to end!! We returned car with a full thank and very diligent employee said everything was good!! The initial price online was very good, but I did expect a "catch". I arrived at the airport for pickup and was notified that there would be an hour wait. I was pleasantly surprised to get the car about 35 minutes later. What I did not realize at the time is that the rep had added insurance I had already declined and since I informed him that I paid online I didn't thoroughly check the fine print. He informed of the 200.00 hold and I was on my way. When I received the bill I saw a double charge and called to complain to corporate who basically tried to justify this action. I am currently disputing now and have been waiting for a response for about 2 weeks now. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Hopefully this was an honest mistake on behalf of the rep in Atlanta, but either way corporate shroud be much better at handling issues like this.

The car was great. Unfortunately the workers at Chicago o’Hare are lazy. I purchased thr rental through price line with collision damage. I get to pick it up and they are trying to sell the collision again. I told them I have it. So he tries to sell the liability, which I said no I have that. After I bring it back, I find out I have charges for the collision again along with one I purchased on Priceline. I call to get a refund. And they tell me (customer service at a call center) all he can do is open a complaint ticket and someone will call me back in 48 hours. Can you give me a number to call in case no one calls me back. He says, sorry they have no phones in that department.. I say “it’s 2018 how on earth does a department not have a number”? What if no one calls me in 48 hours who do I call? He say call back here, and I say will give me a number to call than? He says no..... I ask what happens than. He says I will open another ticket and you will have to wait another 48 hours to get a call back... When returning the car, 10 pm only one worker is standing there talking to security guard leaning against a parked car. I drive up to them and waited for 15 minutes and she did not acknowledge me nor come up to see who I was or what I was found there. I finally got out of the car and I walked up to her she says you have peck the car over there, I told her why didn’t you say something earlier ? She says you have park the car, as if I know their procedures. So I park the car and walk to her again and she says “ok you can leave now”, and I ask for a receipt or some thing to show I returned it. She said I don’t have anything and continuous to flirt with the security guard in scratching her braids . Seriously I know good workers are hard to find, but why hure people that don’t want to work...? Avoid this company

Don't care for how the do business. Way of the beaten path. Prices are good but it was difficult to get picked up. Waited quite a while. When we arrived at the facility, all we received was attitude. Nothing like attitude after a long flight. They hit your credit card for a substantial amount of money then credit it back. What is up with that. BS.

Reserved a midsize vehicle via Priceline and showed up to pick up my car at the scheduled time! Was abruptly told by the agent Nancy that she only had mini vans available or that i can take a shuttle back to the airport and try another car company! She appeared bipolar as the last time I’d rented there from another agent we’d exchanged jokes and she’d informed me that she had recently retired from American Airlines! Even though the price that I’d agreed to for the midsize cost more and the vehicle they put me in cost less (I have pictures to prove this) she still charged me the cost of my original vehicle that they didn’t have available! The only good thing that came from this is that I know now to rent from Avis Budget or even Payless as they are cheaper and have vehicles available as Nancy did refer me! I’m currently returning the car after only 2 hours and will be renting from Budget! I’ll never rent from Advantage Rental again!

They charged me over $300 to clean a few dog hairs even after I cleaned the vehicle and there was normal use from using a car in Chicago in the winter. Nowhere in the contact does it specify these cleaning fees!

Coming to Chicago on Feb 01, 2019 and will be renting a SUV. Lets see how it goes. All good till now... if I don't update the review that means all went well :) Update 6/13/2019: All didnt go well. So updating to 1* Had lot of trouble renting here: 1. Queue was long and service was slow. 2. There was no one to hand over the car. We were given keys n had to search car our self. 3. Choices of vehicle was not there. We did not get the vehicle we booked online. 4. Car was not starting, i struggled. There was no one to help. Had to ask another customer but even he couldn't start the car. Didnt want to walk back in cold winter. Eventually other company's car renting guy helped me. 4.Most of places have 24*7 car drop facilities. I had to drop the car early midnight, but i was not sure if i can. It was not written on documents or website. When i called customer care at night it was also closed. Huh, didnt know what to do. 5. When returning the car we found the passenger side mirror was kind of open (will add picture). I did not hit the vehicle anywhere and this could be from previous rental. But lady would not listen to me. It could have been easily fixed by pressing with hand. But lady ended up writing an accident notice. The behavior of lady collecting the vehicle was very rude. 6. I have not received any updates or estimates on the accident repair. I called the advantage customer care, but they mentioned estimate will be sent by estimation company. It has been 6months now, still no communication. 7. We wanted to extended our car rental duration but could not as it was booked by another customer. 8. Our whole chicago trip was ruined due to this car rental company. It must wrong time when i thought of renting from Advantage. I wish i could have rented the car here :(

I reserved online. It asked how much space I'd need for luggage. The car they gave me was too small to accommodate and they told me it was never based on luggage space or family size. ...???... They also estimated the cost to be about $250. My "final" bill was $365. The rep said it covered gas and any tolls I would go through from Chicago to MI. 2 WEEKS LATER... my account was debited $62 by Advantage with no warning... no phone calls, no emailed receipt. I called and they said it was tolls, which would have been about 40 bucks cheaper if I'd paid with them in advance. When I told them I was under the impression I had, they said... next time read the contract, instead of trusting the representatives. If you can't trust the representatives and they are unwilling to work with a customer to make right their own mixup, I will simply take my business elsewhere. Don't make your traveling experiences even more stressful with Advantage... not worth it.

This was a HORRIFIC experience. The desk clerk was rude, attitudal abd my experience was terrible. When asked a question regarding a charge the lady Carolyn said "what do you mean why?" Proceeded to tell me I had an attitude and I must not have ever rented a car before. After that foolishness I was given a 2014 Passat with diesel fuel. As I was driving around the Chicago area the oil change indicator came on. REALLY? I had to take the car back exchange it (no compensation given) then downgraded me to a 2013 Jetta. Again diesel fuel...Who still offers diesel fuel.. And OLDER cars with regular rental car prices. I booked this on Hotwire...If I could give them negative stars I would. Worst experience ever. I DO NOT reccomend them.

I booked online for Hyundai Santa Fe and they wanted to give me a Dodge Journey instead even considering they had the Santa Fe available. I had to go few times to the parking lot to check the cars and I got mad when I saw the Santa Fe available. Here you book one type of car and they give you the worst option they have and make you pay more for a cheaper car.

Extremely disappointed! I rented a car back in June and paid everything online. Upon picking up the car the lady tells me that they will put a $200 Hold on my card until the car is returned. I was not fine with it but agreed because I needed the car. Once returning the car The hold on my card was not lifted. I called into customer care and they told me to contact my bank. I contacted my bank and they immediately refunded the $200 but told me that they would have to reach out to advantage Rent-A-Car and once it’s confirmed the money would be refunded . Two months later and I have still not received my $200 back .

I am not normally a person who writes a bad review. Being in customer relations my whole life I understand that sometime things happen that are beyond your control and that when you have to let a customer down it sucks. That being said this is not one of those situations. This is a very good example of bad customer service and not caring. I do not use credit cards. However, I recognize that some companies are not ok with that and that is fine. I did check with Alamo car rentals first and was told as long as I had proof of travel that using a debit card was not a problem. I called the Alamo’s national customer service center as calling the local office at O’Hare was not an option. I explained to the agent that I was coming into Chicago by train via Union Station but that my car rental was from O’Hare airport and he assured me that would not be an issue. This morning I showed up to pick up my reserved car and they would not let me since I had not flown into O’Hare. Obviously I was a little shocked since I had called ahead to make sure it was ok. The gentleman helping me wasn’t sure so he called a manager Bryan over to help. Bryan came to the desk and was basically like sorry I am not renting you a car. When asked, what was the point of me calling to check ahead of time, he said he didn’t know but it didn’t make a difference. I asked him if I called Alamo with him right there and let him hear them say it was ok did it matter and he said no. He said I was welcome to walk around and check other rental places but he doubted I would have any luck. I walked down to Advantage Rent a Car and explained the situation to Steven behind their desk He said that they did have the same policy but he could give me a one-time pass so I could get on with my vacation. Alamo you have lost a client I will never again rent from you again and Advantage you have gained one. Bryan I am sorry that customer service is not a policy of your business model. Great, and at very reasonable price. If you hate the mob scenes at Hertz, Avia, this one is so much more people friendly. The only downside is they don't have many buses so be prepared to wait longer to be picked up.

This company is shady! I should have read the reviews before booking because I'm not the only one to have this issue. We paid all of our tolls and now the company is charging us $107 ($7 for tolls $100 administration fee) for tolls they say we didn't pay. I knew to check my credit card statement after returning the car because other people have also complained of this problem and I'm glad I paid attention. This makes me so angry to have to deal with this and prove that these charges are trumped up and the $100 administration fee is absurd! What a horrible company! Don't use them!
