Currently sitting in the office waiting to be taken care of. No one seems to know what is going on. Fourth in line and it's been an hour. Still helping the person who was at the desk when we got here. Very surly shuttle driver and way to far from the airport. Not worth the discount believe me, NEVER AGAIN!.

Good value, clean vehicle, great staff. Just be sure to understand the fuel purcjase option (FPO). Bring it back on empty, because you will be billed for a full tank regardless of what's in the tank at drop off. At least that's what my emailed reciept shows.

The manager, Marquise was EXTREMELY helpful. My family was completely lost, as the signs in the airport was bit confusing to us. Marquise saw that we looked lost and helped us out with directions and made sure all of our concerns were addressed and requirements met. The advantage team at HNL airport is the way to go. Very smooth transaction and ran into ZERO trouble. Amazing car, no defects, and very enjoyable. Thank you to the advantage rent a car team.

This is an off-airport car rental company, so you will need to budget more time for both the pick up and the drop off. For our trip, the shuttle came in about five minutes once we found the shuttle pick up spot (you actually walk thru the rental car garage to reach it). It was a 15 minute drive to the off site location. We were in an upgraded car about five minutes later (lucky to be in the front of the line). The Advantage representative was very informative and friendly- a great combination. All in all, a great car at about 1/3 the price of the majors!!

It took an hour to get through the line just to get to the desk for the car I reserved the previous day. People in line were notably upset. Advantage did have quite a few employees working, but they possessed no sense of urgency. When I mentioned then length of the line to the employee slowly chatting and trying to upsell me, he actually replied with something along the lines of "it's ok, we have really good rates." Thanks for the focus on customer service! When actually processing my reservation they were unable to give me a car because my driver's license had recently been renewed, but the new card was lost in the mail. Totally understandable, but what wasn't understandable was that they couldn't just put my wife as the primary driver instead. Mr Customer Service told me he could cancel my reservation and make a new one for my wife at almost double the price. Not helpful! When I asked why he couldn't just modify the reservation he told me that their computers just went to the company website and they had no power to alter or modify the reservation. Hmm. Making modifications through the website or app was not possible. I eventually ended up on the phone with Advantage customer support, who was able to cancel my reservation and replace it with one under my wife's name instead. This inexplicably required about an hour of struggling to hear the customer service rep in a busy parking garage. At the end of my two hour ordeal we did emerge with the car I reserved the previous day at the originally quoted price. The line was even longer than when I initially arrived, with a whole new crop of people still waiting to begin their own Advantage ordeal. At no point during that two hour window (on a Sunday afternoon) did the line diminish. Every other rental car counter at HNL managed to keep things moving and avoid lines for my entire time there. I definitely will not be reserving with Advantage ever again, since there were many other options at similar prices.

This was my first time renting a car. This will be my last time using Advantage or EZ. You get what you pay for. Horrible service, they did not explain anything, I wasn't the only one confused there. The employees are very rude, and have no respect for customers. The people who work there are not qualified to do the work or serve customers. Pay a little more and use another company.

These People sure take their time and logging your car in. I turned my car in 15 to 30 minutes before it was due, but apparently they did not log it in until an hour and a half after I brought it back, thus charging me for an extra day, even though I brought it back on time. I seriously need to get one of those electronic scanners that logs your car as returned the moment you pull up to the return slot.

On Mother’s Day there was one clerk working and 30 people in line. There were 3 other workers behind the desk not helping customers. Horrible service and nothing was done to improve it. All of the other rental companies had multiple clerks and it sucked watching their customers walk in and walk out. I will never rent from Advantage again. A lot of folks in line with me are saying the same thing. Waited in line for over 40 minutes.

Honest and clear review: -If you want convenience do not rent here -If you want a clean vehicle, do not rent here -If you want to rent strictly on price, Rent here Easiest steps from arriving at the airport is RSW; grab an Uber to their lot, the shuttle is easily a 20-30 minute wait whilst Uber got me there in 4 minutes (roughly $13.50). When you arrive you’ll notice that Advantage is located on the backside of the building you will dropped at and be ready for a long line so do not take your whole family (leave them at the airport until you get the car and can go back to get them). Ensure to do a full walk around of the car and the check the gas before you leave. Be prepared to take it through a car wash and have someone clean the inside ($23.00) which is well worth it if you’ve rented for the week. Good luck and know you get what you pay for.

Super long line on Saturday (6/22/19) afternoon at around 3pm. I didn't get to the counter until nearly 4pm, but each of the agents were very attentive with their customers and looked to be moving as efficiently as they could. But car rentals can be a wait. They offered bottles of water to us guests in line. Luisa was my specific agent and she was incredible. She embodied the aloha spirit and handled my reservation professionally. I like the rates that this company has and the service was really good today. It was easy to find the counter as it was across the street from the baggage claim terminal for American Airlines.

Prices were excellent compared to others. Some complain of a longer wait time, which can be true I think depending on when you get there - however there are benches for you to sit on while you wait for your bargain car hire! Friendly staff and the car was great!

Not a fan. Car wasn't washed. They added supplemental insurance without asking me. I don't understand businesses that do this. Good businesses want repeat customers. I'll be traveling to Florida every 6 months for the next three years. Advantage won't get my business again.

The staff was very friendly but the cars were absolutely awful. One literally had drugs on the back seat floor, one smelled of marijuana so bad we couldn't be in the car for more than 3 minutes. One smelled of stale cigarettes to the point of giving all of us headaches, and every car we saw was filthy on the inside. It took 5 cars for us to get 1 semi-decent vehicle to use on our vacation in Hawaii. Trading out these vehicles took several hours out of my vacation and was extremely frustrating. No compensation of any sort was given and the manager did not even come out in person to apologize. I will never rent from this company again.

After flying for 10 hours to Honolulu, we get to the car rental to find out we have to wait online for two hours to get the car. There were only two agents at the counter. We canceled our reservation and was able to rent a car with Budget. Budget got us a great rate and service was quick.

NOT EVEN WORTY OF ONE STAR! Horrible customer service to say the least. Me and my husband traveled to Florida on Christmas Eve and rented a Malibu from this business. That very same night we got in the vehicle to leave an event and it wouldn’t start. My husband, on his vacation was told by a customer service representative to try and jump the vehicle, (that didn’t work and we had to pay for a ride to our destination ) after at least an hour and a half of being transferred and explaining the situation over several times we were told a car would be delivered the next day to switch out the inoperable one. That morning we had to pay for yet another ride to get to where the vehicle broke down at, we arrive and realize that in place of a sporty Malibu we intended driving throughout or vacation we now would be driving a mini van. Only one person showed up to switch out the vehicles so my husband (on his vacation) had to physically assist the man in getting the vehicle up the ramp. We weren’t the happiest about having to drive a mini van but we got over it because we wanted to enjoy our vacation and at least we had a working vehicle. Immediately upon getting into the vehicle we could tell that it hadn’t been cleaned and after a few hours of driving it we realized not only were there a pair of dirty sandals in the back but the vehicle was infested with roaches. At this point we are very upset because most of our vacation has been spent dealing with this horrible business. After several more transfers and long hold periods we were told WE had to drive the vehicle to back to the airport and get it switched out yet again. On the last day of our vacation we finally had a clean working vehicle. We spoke with a manager at the Ft Meyers airport location and we were told we would receive a call from him in two days. Surprisingly we have not received that call. Please spare yourself the waste of money and headache, DO NOT rent a car from this business. Out vacation was ruined due to their negligence and horrible customer service.

Filing a complaint with the BBB! Horrible experience with this company. Wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy! I was charged $384 for supposedly going over the 150 miles per day limit that NO ONE even mentioned to me. Originally, when I rented the car I noticed that the contract stated the car being rented out had 371 miles less than what was actually on the odometer. I took a picture of it and also left a note of it on the forms that they have you fill out verifying that the car has no dents or dings. When I returned the car, I also told the serviceman about this and he stated that it would be taken care of. After I get the charge applied onto my card, I had to call the 1-800 number because I could not get an answer at the local office. When I spoke to the person at the 1-800 number, they said that I had taken the car out with 38500 miles and returned it with 40119. This is when I told them that I needed to speak to someone higher up because of the fact that the contract was falsified. The contract stated the car had 38500 but the odometer read 38871. I spoke to a gentleman by the name of Ernesto who made it seem like he was doing me a favor by helping me out. After I did the math for them, I had only gone over by 48 miles @ $0.55 totaling $26.40. Ernesto stated that he was going to send me an email in regards to the refund he was going to process. Fast forward over 24 hours and I'm having to call Ernesto again because he didn't send the receipt for the refund like he said. When he finally sent me the receipt it was for a total refund of $330. I wrote him an e-mail back stating that the amount was incorrect and the response I got was that it was correct because supposedly I told them the amount I wanted back and that taxes and fees still applied on what I used. All I wanted was to get the correct refund seeing as they had already charged me for 371 miles just by getting into the vehicle. I then sent another response to Ernesto stating that if the initial $26.40 jumps to almost $50 dollars with taxes and fees that I would pay it without a problem, but that I needed to see how it added up. I never got a response from Ernesto after that. I had to go through my credit card company to dispute the charge and it's still pending. My advice to anyone is to just pay a little more money and go with a more reputable and professional company. I've worked in the customer service industry for over 15 years and I probably would have been reprimanded if not terminated had I treated customers the way myself, and by the looks of other reviews, others were treated.

RIP off and fraud artists...stay away! . Take payment through third party, no cars available in arrival, 10 people in line pissed with same issue. Manager refused to give full name or local number for the office. They wanted to collect 200 deposit in advance without cars available but wouldnt take a debit card because we had a local drivers license. Mgmr refused to refund the paid in full reservation and directed to a booking agency to try and get refund. Updated from their ridiculous reply. Paying with debit card (the money is instantly transferred, and it functions as a Visa in the rest of the known world, should be payment enough, not to mention that I provided an insurance claim number to back it up and my booking was already confirmed and paid for). Trying to collect money me as some kind of deposit, on top of a confirmed and paid booking (knowing that they didn't have cars to rent anyway) , AND arguing it has something to do the fact that it's because I have a local Florida drivers license, adds to the whole scam. I offered multiple methods of payment to resolve this, even knowing their already screwed me by taking a reservation without cars available, but their Corp policy connecting a local license to a credit card is absolutel insanity. Spare me!

I wish I could give this place negative stars. I had booked online just the basic package. The receipt I received said my total would be $134.22. I did not want/need any additional add ons. When I went to pick up the vehicle, there was a long line that was barely moving. When I finally got up to the register, I confirmed I did not need any additional add ons. I wasn't offered or explained any additional services. When I got my receipt, my final amount due was $623.26!!! I ended up renting the car for two additional days (seven days total) and added the toll pass, so I knew the total was going to be a little higher, but NOT THAT MUCH! When I looked at my receipt, they added options for roadside assistance and a collision damage waiver - an extra $265.86 right there. I called them and put in a complaint because I didn't want these services, didn't ask for them, wasn't offered them, nothing. They put it a complaint that was denied because I signed for them. These charges were added to my bill and I must have missed them because I didn't see them on the contact that came up on the credit card reader that I had signed. This company is a fraud and rips you off. What an AWFUL experience. Oh - but they offered me 25% off my next rental LOL RIGHT like I would ever use this company again

Had to call roadside assistance only to be told..."Take an Uber or Taxi to the airport, or wait until 6am when they open" Our plane was leaving at 6:30am and the rental location is 15 min. from the airport. 1st they charged me for an additional driver, which i told the nice counter person i was the only driver sense my wife was is disabled. 2nd the car smelled. 3rd we were led to believe it was at the airport, not bused to their facility. 4th bus wait was to long. 5th the car had no air conditioning, we were on vacation and the weather was in the 80's. 6th called customer service, waited forever. 7th promised a call back witch never happened. 8th they wanted me to have pictures of the filthy interior and interior windows. We had to wait about 30 minutes to get to the counter because there was only one employee working. The place is so dirty! Chairs have tons of stains and there was no soap in the restrooms! Prices are lower than competition. When we returned the car, the guy didn't give us enough time to get everything out of the car and drove the car when the trunk was still open!!

Still haven't received our security deposit back and it's been almost two weeks since they claim they released it. I use Chase Bank and have received many refunds through my debit card in my lifetime. I guess we will be calling them on business day 10 (14 calendar days) to see what their story is then. Update business day 10 (14 calendar days): We called and were told that our security deposit had never been released, but that they would release it now and that they were sorry. Now we have to play the 7-10 day waiting game again. Hopefully they actually released it this time. Maybe they were hoping we forgot about it. I will update as further details unfold.

Crooked, crooked, crooked!!! They advertise as that they are at the Ft Myers airport. They are not! We shuttled there and were told our car was not ready but we could upgrade for more money. I said that if our car wasn’t ready they should upgrade us for free. Then suddenly our car was ready! When we returned the car we filled it with gas 2 miles before. The attendant that checked it in did not do any inspection of the car. I requested one and he said, “we don’t do that!” We then shuttled to the airport. Just after getting to the airport we got an email with an invoice for $200 saying we left the gas tank empty on the car. I tried calling the Ft Myers Advantage location but they don’t answer their phones. I called their customer service line. Spoke to a gal that barely spoke English. Wasted 40 minutes with her. She kept putting me on hold. Told me I needed to supply them with a receipt from the gas station. I told her to just contact the Ft Myers Advantage location (to check the gas gauge on the car) but even she couldn’t contact them. At this point we will just deny payment thru our credit card company. Advantage car rental is crooked. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM

Counter is easy to find, agents are nice but the cars are dirty inside and smell. First car had a lot of stains, 2nd car had a few stains and after parking under sun and getting hot, a bad odor would come out. Smelled like a public bathroom. They spray the car with a terrible deodorizer that I disliked, and after that wore off, the poop smell came. I also rented from them in Maui and the car didn’t have automatic windows - not a big deal but you can tell their fleet of cars aren’t the greatest.

1) 1 hour wait time to pick up car. Other counters had no line. 2) Was upcharged to another class but the communication made it sound/feel like the upcharge was the actual price (someone else made the reservation so I didn't know and rep. did not make it clear). 3) Local number doesn't answer 4) main switchboard only defers to local. 5) My main reservation rate was super high (my fault for last minute booking) but the high rate was continued for my extension request, which is 7 days out. Still trying to get through to local; will not use advantage again. Added later: 6) Got a butt-dial answer (is that a thing?) where I could hear conversation at counter but no reply. Still trying. Added later: Gave up. Booked same class vehicle with another company for much less. The good: Vehicle (Jeep) was clean and tip-top. Staff was friendly. If the other bits were ok, it would have been a good experience, but the communication around rates, inability to reach someone able to actually do something (local), and holding onto last-minute rates for extension (when other carriers are less than half the cost) was just too much.

Everything from checkout to checkin was as seamlessly as possible very courteous agents and well suited for 7am checkin with four parties ahead of us we were out of there in 15 minutes or so, Made a day in Honolulu very enjoyable and relaxing, we had a Hyundai Electra and it was great for the two of us as well as reasonably priced, I would prefer an all electric model, except no rental agencies are offering-Advantage could be a first and I would never look back.

The reviews about insane lines and only 2 sales reps are true. If you are on a short trip and want to maximize your time, I would not rent from Advantage again. If you have a more relaxed schedule and plan for the long wait, the savings are probably worth it.

Expect to be over-charged!!! Not a very welcoming experience to say the least. Was quoted $200 USD and ended up being charge over $330 USD more than I was expecting, tried to get an explanation but the staff member was uninterested. Their instructions were minimal on what to do when collecting or returning the vehicle. The vehicle had no modern day features like central locking, electric windows etc. I hired the same car from Budget for half the price with all the features you'd need. Will not be using Advantage Rent A Car again in the future.

Advantage had the best price by far of all of the airport pickup agencies. Rented the managers choice and got a Kia soul. A few people in line at pick up, but it didn't take long to get our car. Our rental car drove great and we had no problems with it. Great service at pick up and drop off. I would recommend advantage to others renting in Honolulu.

We were able to get our car reasonably quickly, and the car was fine. The rental rate was also reasonable. I made a dumb mistake and lost my keys. The charge of $500 seemed steep, but that's their right. It was a bit disappointing that we had to get to the airport to pick up the spare and back to our car on our own. Neither of these is why I'm giving Advantage 1 star. The customer service experience of getting the key was very difficult. We received a lot of conflicting information from phone support and the local manager. Probably the most confusing disconnect was that phone support center asked us to get in touch with a local locksmith ourselves to have the key replaced directly. According to the call center, local branches didn't even have spare keys. The local manager told us that the fee was so steep because they had to replace the locks and all the keys. He also told us that for this reason, they wouldn't accept keys made by 3rd parties. If we had followed the call center's advice, we'd have been out the $500 Advantage charged us as well as whatever the locksmith charged. Not that this was an option anyway; of the local locksmiths we called, none had the capability to make a key for such a new car. As far as I know, getting keys made quickly is a task for dealerships these days. It was also difficult to get in touch with the local branch over the phone. The call center support staff couldn't transfer us or give us their number, and the number is unlisted. It was unclear if the call center employee was able to speak directly with the branch themselves. We wound up having to call the airport's information desk to contact them. The phone number was likely on our rental agreement, but we couldn’t access that without our keys. I don't believe that any of the individuals involved in this sequence of events did anything particularly egregious. The entire experience betrays a deeply flawed customer support system that I can't trust to help me. I’ll be choosing competitors in the future. Edit: I contacted customer support, as suggested in the reply. I received a response indicating that "their management team has been informed of the situation." I followed up later, and received another response saying that the management team was still working on a resolution. Weeks later, I haven't heard anything more. Predictable, I suppose

I have rented from Advantage twice now and have not had an issue, their rates are very affordable for us especially in Honolulu where it's always expensive to rent cars when we visit. I would recommend them anytime to family and friends as needed. Customer service has been great as well, girls are always very helpful and smile just tops off anyone's bad day. Waited 40 minutes for car. I asked why there was only one person working. She explained it was there busy season. What??! To me busy season means bring in more staff. She was terse and not very friendly. I asked for name of manager. She would not tell me. What kind of manager hides behind their employees? I wish I read the reviews of this place before I rented. Based on their front end service, I gave ourselves extra time when we had to return the car.

My mother rented a car and unfortunately got into an accident. The car was impounded and Advantage could care less. Tried to get some of personal effects back and they couldn't tell me where or which impound lot the car was in. Then we got quite the runaround after numerous call attempts. Have been at this car rental for 30 minutes waiting in line. It is a Sunday, my husband, three kids and I landed an hour ago. Every other car rental company in the same building has at least 4 employees at the counters, Advantage has TWO!!! The line has hardly moved in the past 30 minutes. Are you kidding me? 2 employees working at counters. We won’t get to our hotel until the beach is closed at this rate. This is absolutely unacceptable. Advantage has lost our business here at the airport in Honolulu. This was, by far the worst experience I have ever had with you. Two other times I've rented through EZ, I'm guessing it's now Advantage, and only once has it be somewhat pleasant. This past time sealed the deal for me never coming back. Ever, (and I have to rent monthly here over the next year). No one told me that I need to go to a different location to pick up and there were no signs of life anywhere in the office. I had to go over to Ace, your neighbor, to ask for assistance. That's when he told me I had to go somewhere else. After finding the place, the woman who was helping me did try to be very nice and apologize for the inconvenience. She then told me that you guys have been telling people on short notice all the changes and they really had no clue what was going on. After going over everything, she asked me about comp and collision, I told her I didn't need it due to my personal insurance. She asked me again and described that it would cover me completely and I wouldn't have to pay my deductible if anything happened. I again told her I was fine. When she had me sign the contract, she had me initial all the way down. I skimmed over them and saw several declines, so I initialed what was highlighted. I just wanted to get home after all the aggravation. I was scheduled to drop off the car on Wednesday. Unsure where to go, due to all the insanity on Monday night, I looked at the paperwork to get the phone number to call. That's when I noticed she charged me for the comp and collision!! I then asked the gentleman who answered the phone if we can take care of this when I get there, and he said yes. After spending time on the phone with what seemed to be a manager, he gave me the paperwork and a card to call Ernesto and speak to him. Since they had a signed contract, they were unable to help me. Aggravated once again, I went home. I was able to call on Friday, and I was informed that Ernesto was out ill. This came via someone who was shouting to a coworker while I was still on the phone and not on hold. I'm appalled by the lack of professionalism. As someone who runs a business, I understand that things happen. However, a national company should have a better grasp on things. I will be disputing the charge on my card with my bank and I will absolutely never recommend this company again.

We accidently left our car seat base in the Advantage Rental car we returned in Fort Meyers, FL. We called promptly once we realized that we had left the car seat behind. Advantage does not have anyany to get ahold of their local offics. So, I've spoken with 2 customer service reps through their 1 800 number. They are saying that they cannot locate the car seat base, but they haven't heard anything back from the local office. Also, they said that they usually do not hear back from the local offices, and I have to call back for a 3rd time in a couple days to submit another lost and found claim that apparently no one will read and/or respond to. Awful customer service. Awful system or lack thereof!

Stay away! Left us standing in the heat at the bus stop at the airport for 45 min! Their competitor gladly gave us a ride to pick up our rental. They laughed and said it was impossible that we waited that long. We got a rental with two nails in the tires and so we had to pay to have this fixed. While there, the tire center said that my front tires were dangerously low putting us a risk in the interstate. Thanks, advantage! We returned the car a day early and cleaner than when we picked it up. We now have to fight for our refund. Stay far far away!!!

Decent price, but you'll need a lot of patience. Looks like a 2 hour wait with 3 agents and about 50 people in line...out the door. Update: a full 2 hour wait and they had a sign posted advising people that they would accept any reservations made in the past 10 hours. Many people took from 10 to 35 minutes to complete the process to get their keys. I actually ran a stop watch on random customers because it was unacceptably slow. The line continued to grow longer in the 2 hours that I waited, so others waited even longer, I'm sure.

BLUF: Corporate isn't in touch w/ the local office & doesn't care. In SLC, Car Advantage is off-site, away from the other major rental carriers, and I had to wait in the cold for the slow shuttle. No one answered the 3 calls I made to the on-site phone number. No one took action on the 2 requests I made to correct my e-mail address and I had to call for a receipt. They got a second star b/c they did give me a 4x4 upgrade from compact due to availability & the snow scraper came in handy when it snowed :)

October 2018- Advantage Rent a Car is unethical, and charged me $120 more than they were supposed to. I was originally billed for $180, and got an extra driver for $53, and ended up getting a $350 bill!! I would highly recommend that you not use their services as there are plenty of other companies around the Honolulu airport. I have used Advantage Rent a Car in the past (granted, at other locations) and have always had great customer service, and have recommended it to family and friends in the past. However, that all ends today. There is absolutely no reason that I should have been overcharged- I returned the car on time, I did not damage the car whatsoever, I took great care of it, and I returned it with a full tank of gas. I still do not understand why I was charged $120 more. I even called their customer service number and spoke with a man named Stuart, who was nice but honestly not helpful at all; he could not even provide me a reason for the extra charge. I am still hoping that Advantage at least provides me a legitimate reason, but that still has not happened. AVOID ADVANTAGE RENT A CAR. I would say to avoid the Honolulu one specifically, but their overall image is damaged in my eyes and I won't use it anywhere. This poor customer service is unacceptable to me, and I would not believe their rating if it is above 1 star. I chose them because of past success with me, but they really disappointed me this time. Advantage, please don't scam your loyal customers!

Advantage was very affordable, around $80 per day with their Halloween special. Vehicle was VERY CLEAN, despite having lots of sandy beaches. They do a great job cleaning and preparing the vehicles. The only thing I would recommend is applying Rain-X to your windshields, since it rains a lot near the mountainous regions, and improves the windshield wiping. Before you book, visit their website and register to get a discount code in their email. Alternatively, if you hang around their website for a while, a pop-up window will also show with some discount code. For auto insurance, I would recommend checking with your own insurance to add the rental vehicle protection, which is cheaper than the extra liability insurance.

I'd give a Zero if I could. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. They said "We're upgrading you." "We're charging you a $200 deposit since you declined insurance which will be refunded when you bring the car back." BOTH ARE LIES. They CHARGED us for the upgrade! And DENY saying anything about the $200 deposit. The main office said my complaint was the second they'd received this week about the same thing.

I don't know some people post bad reviews on here. Some of those people's problems are ridiculous (like being charged for keeping a car overtime) and would happen with any car rental agency. I had an excellent experience through Advantage. The manager Ernesto is a consummate professional and got me a great car for a reasonable price in a last minute's notice. His customer service skills are exceptional, and he went above and beyond to accommodate me. I ended up renting a Mustang convertible. While I was there, I saw a whole parking lot full of clean and shiny cars. Between E-Z Car Rental and Advantage Car Rental, they have quite a few cars to choose from. I would definitely recommend Advantage or E-Z Car Rental. Thanks for the great rental experience Ernesto!

I have mixed reviews. First car rented went well. Then when I returned to Oahu. I have been in line for 1:45, with more wait in front. What a joke! Sad that people in the service industry careless about the lines. Yes the computers went down for 5 minutes, but that was after an 1:15 minute wait. Cant wait to see what happens when I get to the front. Added. A customer complained courteously and the manager was extremely rude. Wow, after this rental, probably will never use again. I would rather pay more for decent service. Cant cancel, because I used pay now.

Check in was easy and agent friendly. Car was fine. All was good until the next day and I tried to extend my rental for a day (I only needed an extra 12 hours). The customer service person on the phone wasn't very friendly or helpful. They would extend my rental for $75. This is more than if I just didn't return it ($53). I returned the car, rented from another company for less than half the cost. I won't be renting from them again.

Where to begin...first off, the location is not actually at the airport. 15 minute ride from the airport to the location. Then you walk into a unstaffed counter with customers wondering If the place is even open. The staff that did eventually show up seem to be on a work release program and moved with little to no purpose. They were not concerned with getting customers into a car in a timely manner. Then the up sells, they tried to add every possible thing to charge you for. A "midsize" car turned out to be an economy car. Then they take a deposite that was not part of the initial contract. Much more than originally stated. When it came to inspection of the vehicle there was no staff member present. Simply a piece of paper to fill out alone and hand back to the staff. Upon return, I arrived at 6am, the time the open when I walked in to return the car the one, very tired looking employee seemed annoyed that I was trying to actually hand someone keys I stead of leaving them in an unsecured vehicle. After return I recieved an email with my my "new" receipt. The charges were over $200 more than the contract stated and my deposite return was reading $0! After I attempted, three times to call customer service, twice being "disconnected" when they couldn't explain why my deposite wasnt returned, I was then refused any help over the phone at all. Simply hung up on me if I didnt have a rental contract number. And here's the kicker folks, a week after I returned the car my debit car number was used for iTunes and a number of other places. Not me! Someone at that wonderful place decided to steal my information and steal from my bank account. Short lesson, DO NOT USE ADVANTAGE RENT A CAR. The service was horrible and predatory. Pay the extra few dollars and go with a bigger agency. Advantage rent a car is a theiving company. Stay away!

Don’t rent from them in Oklahoma!!! I paid every toll when I had the rental and they still charged me for toll fees and a convenience fee of $50!!! I remember paying every toll but since it’s a toll booth with no one working at it there is no receipt so I have no proof! You had to have exact change for the guard to lift up which we paid and it still took a picture of my car!!! I will never use this company again when I tried to talk to them they did not care!!!

Honestly, the only issue I had with renting from Advantage Rent A Car in Fort Myers FL was that the customer service was the WORST customer service I've ever had. Therefore, I can't give them more than 2 stars. The guy helping us in checking out the car was rude, not friendly, not considerate, not helpful, and overall seemed that he could careless that we were there renting a car from him and his company. I cannot express how rude he was. With that, I will make a point to pay more or go out of my way to simply rent elsewhere when visiting Fort Myers.

We had nothing but problems with this car rental agency. We booked through a third party and when we went to pick up the car, the price was considerably higher than quoted on line. We had our receipt and the agent said”I don’t know anything about that...”. We booked a mid-size car for the week and she consistently asked us to upgrade after numerous declines. “She said “you don’t want to drive around in something like that, I can get you in a much nicer car for another $25.00 a day. The car was absolutely filthy, inside and out. We had to take it through the car wash because we couldn’t see out of the windows. There was sticky stuff all over the handles and doors. The experience was terrible. She tried persuading us to purchase insurance we didn’t need and after calling our insurance company, we found out we were 100% covered for everything she was trying to sell us and was repeatedly told by her, our insurance does not cover any of this. According to her, no personal insurance company does. If we listened to her, that would have been an additional $100 +. I will never rent a car from them again.

So many things to say, in keeping it simple, pushy and would not listen. Dismissed concerns. Was not straight forward about pricing. Wouldn’t honor reserved price. Went online in front of him and reserved at a lower price which he had to honor. Pushy after saying no to the insurance over 5 times! Tried to scare you into purchasing it but my insurance covers all the things he was pressuring us to purchase. I had my agent on the phone as she was telling me all of it was covered. I am hard of hearing, yet he was getting visibly frustrated with me. I left in tears I was so mad. Since we were on vacation I didn’t unleash on him so that I could enjoy my starting day in Hawaii. But I do not recommend. Will pay extra to go somewhere else next time.

Showed up, one person working, waited about 2 hours, only to find they did not have a mini-van. Promised to deliver one the next day, and did not deliver one all week. Maybe tell us when we book our car's return for 4 am that you don't have shuttle service until 6am, not even a sign at the facility, and no mention of shuttle hours at check in. Been really fun having to panic about missing our flight and calling customer service and pressing several buttons to be told no shuttle service runs until 45 min after our flight leaves. Excellent thinking and service, people. Hooray for Uber. Travel 2 to 3 times a year and this was a first. On the plus side when the a/c shut off and we called, they were willing to help us get a different vehicle.

Easy fast pickup, cheap and affordable competitive prices for honolulu. Paid 40 something dollars so I could return car on empty. I also returned car a day earlier than expected and wasn't charged for last day. Professional friendly service. Rental car drop off is conveniently located at the airport so it made it easy to catch my flight also there is a shuttle closely located that took me straight to my check in area. Will definitely rent again and would recommend. Thank you.

There is no Advantage to using this company. They didn't have my car so they FORCED ME TO PAY for an upgrade or wait an undisclosed amount of time after traveling for almost 24 hours to get married on Oahu. The agent began very nice but by the time I came back down to politely tell them that the van reeked and was filthy, her disposition shifted to an FU attitude. I was exhausted so I just wanted to leave and when I asked to upgrade to a different car, they basically told me that would not be an option. Didn't even quote prices or anything. Just no. She then left me at the desk to go up to the car where my family was waiting and interrogate them about where I saw the vomit that I actually told her I just smelled. She then proceeded to tell them that he gave me a good deal on the disgusting base model Toyota Sienna she pushed me into and that they normally rent for $300/day which is absolutley ludicrous. I had to stop at the store and clean my "fresh" rental again because the windows were so dirty I could not see my passenger side mirror, and the windshield was so cloudy I couldn't see traffic with the glare. Bought an air freshener too. This company is sloppy, and rude. Never again. Started my wedding trip off in a terrible way. Thanks Advantage. UPDATE: The Van had bald tires, warped rotors and a maintenance light came on as we were pulling in to return it.

We had to leave on an earlier flight the day before our original leaving date and couldn’t get a hold of anyone so we could drop the car off. Absolute garbage! Incredibly slow service. We've been in line for two hours now - and are still only halfway through the line. All other car rental suppliers have a single family or less in line. We hypothesize that everyone must be required to learn a second language, pass a driver's test (including three behind the wheel sessions) and submit DNA prior to leaving here with a car. The car was fine, and they upgraded me for free (supposedly free) because I'm tall. The problem was I made a reservation 3 months earlier for $430ish and when we picked up the car it came out to $700ish, and then $900ish with the deposit. I felt like that was quite a bit more expensive than the reservation but at the time we were tired and wanted to get to our resort and I couldn't remember what the exact quote was from before. A couple days later I looked into it and realized I got royally screwed. I called the company and they said to call back with the reservation number and they'd help me out. I got the information and called back the next day and was told that I'd have to handle it when we turned in the car because they couldn't do it over the phone. What a crock. Works out great for them now that I'd be bent over a barrel and have no choice but to pay the entire amount. Avoid this place at all costs. Classic bait and switch.

BEWARE.....rented a car on New Years as we were heading to Busch Gardens and I forgot my sunglasses in the glove box. Reported it the next day, called back every day to get an update. They never check there cars once someone returns them. Lost my Michael Kors shades. Granted it was my fault for not checking but their fault as well for not checking the car. There could be illegal drugs in the car, a load gun who knows. Never want be stopped in a car from this company. Pick up was at the terminal. The car was fairly new and in great shape. I'm not particularly loyal to any car rental company but like as good of a deal as possible. I have just been to pick up the car, with an early morning ahead. Fort Myers - Miami Airport drop off. Having booked with travelocity, I found that the price had suddenly changed from $55.37 to an astronomical $130.27 because of an added "One Way Drop Charge".. The guy also was doing me a favor because the "One Way Drop Charge" is normally at $200.00 but he was "generous" enough to put me at a $75.00 mate rate. Not recommended.

The Honolulu airport office is an outright disaster. Sloooooow and inefficient agents that spend ( not exaggerating ) 15 minutes per customer. When I stepped up after more than na hour in the line watching this horror show, we shut down all the BS and chit chat and got out of there in 5 minutes. Staff training please!!!!!! ALL the other rental counters where smooth with only 5 minute wait. Why didn't I switch? I wish I could have but maddeningly we had prepaid. Horrible place. Do not go there. The rented us an old broken car that stared making sounds (horrible-scary sounds) coming from the engine. This was the first day we rented the car and after we called them, they said that they would charge us $65 plus mileage for coming to us because we did not get their "road assistance". When I asked if it is their normal practice to rent broken cars to get additional fees, they said "YES". Unbelievable!!! besides, they said that if we were to exchange the car, the tank of the broken car would have to be full or they would charge additional fees!!! So basically, they asked me to drive a broken/dangerous car and expose my family on the road NOT ONLY to get the car back at the airport BUT ALSO to get the tank filled!!! I am definitely filling a formal complain.!! AVOID this COMPANY at ALL COST!!

Never again! If you use them make sure you have lots of time to waste and be wary of the counterperson trying to add in upgrades. The internet quote was 215 and change, the counterperson added extras to over 800! I got most removed but still ended up paying extra for a second driver and toll coverage. Live and learn.

First the bad. Have to prepare to walk outside the terminal to pick up the bus for the car which is several miles off site. If it's raining you will need an umbrella. However (the good) the costs of renting are much lower. Staff was great, got a low priced upgrade to a convertible. No pressure. Car ran great from Marco to the Keys. We bought a SunPass to avoid additional fees going through Miami, so no suprise charges. Would rent from them again.

There were only two people working the desk and yet at least 5 other employees were waking in and out of the back office with no offer to help. A month after returning the car I received a $31 charge for one toll. The toll was $6 and a $25 administration fee. The fee is solely the company's doing. As ivI' read the reviews I should have listened do not make the I made use a competitor you may pay a little more but it is worth it. I would have given them 0 stars, you can't apparently. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!! I appreciate the response the issue is no one mentioned that during the rental and I understand fine print, the problem is i paid cash to get on Sanibel Island to cross the causeway also no one explain to turn it off let alone how to use it. This is a corporate scam, to add fees to cheap rentals. I have posted my disgust on Facebook and Twitter. I am going to give my reviews to all the search sites like Expedia And likes their of.

This place is unacceptably slow. I have been in line 30 minutes with no end in sight. And neither of the two folks at the counter seem to care. There are 21 people behind me. Many will no doubt wait well over an hour. Spend a few extra bucks and go elsewhere.

The staff weren't very personable and when I tried to call the desk where I rented the car from because I lost my cell phone, it was next to impossible. The person on the lgi e would not patch me through to the rental location. He said we had to go there in person. And, when we did, the front desk staff stood around having a conversation with each other while I waited for a good five min before they even looked up and spoke to me. They didnt greet me or smile but just said "confirmation number"? I explained that I was there to see if they found or if someone turned in a lost cell phone. They tried to keep telling us to go to the car return desk vs helping me. I reiterated that I didnt leave the phone in a car I returned but thought that it was left at the rental counter when I rented the car. Eventually I got someone willing to assist and she directed me to the airport lost and found. Overall not a pleasant experience with the rental staff.

Don't rent from Advantage! I rented a car from Advantage at the Honolulu Airport last year, 11/23/2018. The service was great at the desk. However, you had to go to the huge lot yourself to get your car. Okay. Returning the car was horrible! The car rental return signs at the Honolulu Airport were having us go around in circles! I am detailed oriented. I followed the signs but no luck. It was about the mis morning. There were only a few people to ask where to return the rental car. Nobody knew. We tried everything! The Advantage number is only a call center. There was nobody to help us. My daughter who was 17 at the time, was searching on the phone trying to get numbers, specific directions for returning the car and no luck. I was driving the whole time. Stoping and asking any crew that was around, etc. No luck. Nobody knew where the exact location to turn into to get to the return. We ended up on the freeway at one point. We finally found it. We saw one person and asked again. Luckily we were close to where to turn into. Then...... there was a huge car rental return lot!!! The lot had huge lines!!!! I left the car close by and gave the Advantage employee the car keys, told them the info. There was nobody to help us to get us and our stuff to the airport! Nobody cared!!!!!!! From there, my daughter and I had to run all the way to the airport which was a big distance from where we were. I was medical pre board due to some injuries I had on my arms. I had to carry some of my daughter's surf stuff and my roller carry-on. My daughter had her surfboard , surf stuff and her roller carry-on! We caught a shuttle bus after a while. Running and carrying heavy stuff in 80 degree heat was not fun. It took forever for us to get to the Airport. By that point, the airlines had shut down loading and passengers. It was too late. We missed our plane. I had sent my complaint to Advantage. They did not care. I am finally getting around to writing this review. They are very nice at the service desk but after that, you are on your own. It's easier to rent at a non airport location. The return line was huge! You would still need ta wait a long time to return. The generic response email from Advantage was insulting. Don't rent from Advantage! Good luck!

Rude. To a different pair of customer "You are not on the contract. You might want to go back and sit down". I bought Travelocity "Collision damage Plan". "That is no good here. Buy ours or give me your private car insurance" "You don't have to show me travelocity email, it doesn't matter to me". No "sorry, we can't accept". No explanation, no apology, no compassion... Charged me for filling up the car when they gave it to me 1/2 full and got it back 3/4. Luckily they refunded after I complained. thank you? Again, no apology nothing. And as all the other customers have mentioned, the 800 number in the email is a joke. No one is answering that one.

These other reviews are funny to me. When you choose the least expensive (by far) car rental company at the Honolulu Airport, you're going to get an experience that reflects that- and that's not necessarily a bad experience, just different. I, thankfully, didn't have a situation where I had to alter my reservation, call a customer representative, or lose my keys so I cant speak to those circumstances, but to those saying that you wait forever because they only have two people working... uh hello- why do you think think the prices are less expensive? I guess it's a question of whether you have the patience to wait for a car and rental service that will save you money. For me, it was and we had a good experience. Not only that, but we were able to use a discount code on Advantage's Website that saved us an additional $130. The woman checking us in was kind and timely, not slow at all. The line did fill up quickly behind us but when I looked to the other agent, the only reason why it was taking so long was because the customer was altering her reservation, asking a million questions, etc., which would take anyone a while. I almost didn't rent from them because of the previous reviews but I'm glad I did. You get a reliable, good condition car for a considerable amount less. Plus if you look online for discount codes, you get it for even less. Worth it to me. Thanks, Advantage!

A two part review: The staff/Pickup & Drop-off: Overall the staff was friendly. The pickup location as a few miles from the airport. We waited for under 5 minutes for the shuttle. Same coming home - the wait for the shuttle back to the airport was very short. The staff and logistics were fine. But the car... Our Car: I remember my college days, when I'd borrow a car from a buddy. This felt very much like a borrowed car, and not a rental. The inside looked like it had a quick vacuum job. The inside of the windshield was filthy, and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a few thousand miles. At night, this made driving tough. The front CV joint was gone - our car made horrible noises when we turned. The passengers side wiper was tearing apart, making is hard to see during the frequent Florida rains. Let's not forget the slow leak in one of the tires. Had it not been for the fact that we were just driving to the resort, and then back to the airport, I would have returned the car. When we returned the car, I let the attendant know that the CV joint was bad. He was COMPLETELY disinterested. From a trusted internet source: "You may lose control of the vehicle entirely. It is not safe to drive with a damaged CV joint." Frankly, the car was a hazard. I regret trying to save a few bucks and will go back to Enterprise again. You can't put a price on safety.

If you are going to modify your reservation! NEVER DO it over the phone.. I spoke with 4 different Reps.. Chris, Hillary, John and Gabby. My reservation price went from $160.19 to $756.00 and I wasn’t informed of the price changed nor did I agree to it.. then my reservation was cancelled without my consent and a new reservation was made for $560.00. Then I called back and spent 45 mins with this rep who had me believing that he fixed all the mistakes the previous reps created gave me my original rate of $42.55 a day rather than the $151.00 that they changed it to.. I call back a fourth time to confirm that my new rate of $181.43 is what they are showing because I haven’t received an email confirmation with the new confirmation number.. and this rep reassured me that I’m all good! And that’s the price she is showing.. now FINALLY I get to the the counter and Everything that I was told from the previous reps was all a lie.. and luckily I printed out my original reservation, with all the notes of times and the reps I spoke with.. and she was nice enough to honor my Original price.. so thank you to her! And be very weary with dealing with the phone reps because they will tell you exactly what you want to hear! I have never been so deceived by a rental car agency like I have this one!

They gave us a car with low battery and low tire air. We had to call AAA twice during our trip. Second time, car wouldn't start bc we left air running for only a few minutes while filling up the tires. We called Advantage but they told us to call AAA bc our plan didn’t include roadside assistance, even though the issue was with THEIR car, which they clearly left in circulation with low battery life!

Will never rent from EZ/Advantage again. Upon paying for car, I thought I was getting the upgrade for free at the counter when I noticed on my invoice that I was charged an additional $10/day. NOT worth the upgrade. Furthermore, I received a $27 charge on my card one week AFTER I left FL for a toll ($2 for the toll, $25 for an "Administration Fee"). Never again! The rental facility is NOT at the airport, you must take a shuttle from airport. Mixed feelings on staff...some courteous & professional, others not so much.

There was a long queue at the centre and we felt the place is understaffed but when we requested to switch to a convertible though we had booked for a SUV the lady was happy to help and arranged for the same. Worst customer service in the industry! I had to pick a star to leave a review - the national debt would be too good here. I rent from several companies and this one just is digging under the bottom of the barrel! Uber to Georgia might be cheaper and the bus might be more pleasant. Yes they love the up charge to the sky. You cannot talk to any of the counter people where you rent from under any circumstances don’t waste your time calling the call center in the third world. No matter the nature of your business more business from every customer should be your goal. I tried to extend the rental to almost double my original contract that’s where bad service went under the barrel. Yes you can extend for 3 days but it will cost you another deposit plus your over budgeted up charges. 3 days $500.. not getting my business ever again relief! Yes they like to keep your card tied up as long as possible so be prepared to give them at least $1000 play money for a month. You Pay more for insurance most people do not need best line they have is loss of use scare tactics. It takes a really strong person to keep them in check you can’t say no enough. Yes you save the 11% airport tourist tax on your rental. You can pay that plus the insurance,extra driver fee, get the toll fee package, and the fuel prepaid with the regular usual companies for less than their hard sale up charges high pressure sales bullying. Bullying is unacceptable kids are in jail for less than these people pass off as customer service! The bonus is you bend over for advantage/ezrental and pay over and above what the rental should cost. You have them using your money in one hand and passing the blame to your credit card company with the other and never with a smile or friendly attitude. Moral of the story rent from the better known companies because guess what they are nice, helpful, try to accommodate your needs for the best deal programs they have and smile

The pickup point in Honolulu airport has great service. The staff there is knowledgeable, friendly, and works hard to try and deal with problems. Advantage service falls apart when sent to the call center and not to the Honolulu airport. The call center staff does not know the policies and just talk off the top of their head. Twice.. Once on a rental previously, the call center has gave me incorrect, erroneous information that was a completely different story once I got to the pickup point in Honolulu. It was frustrating to have my vehicle "given away", when the call center stated it would be held for me. Another time, it was frustrating to be charged extra time when there was massive flooding and storms on Honolulu and I immediately contacted the call center to make them aware of the traffic issues getting into the Honolulu. Roads were closed and washed out and it took four hours to get to the airport on a normal 2-hour Drive. I have to say that the service counter itself at Honolulu is par Excellence. Staff there has always been helpful and our way more knowledgeable than the generic call centers that the car rental companies use.

Advantage head office actually made our problem worse when our key fob battery died, rendering our car useless. For 11 hours they impeded us in contacting the local HNL Advantage branch. Local HNL staff were great and fixed the problem in about an hour. I actually teach both Communication and Hospitality at a local public college here. This was a textbook case of top-down admin policy impeding customer service, compounded by lack of accountability. With a little common sense, this issue could have been fixed in an hour. Instead it took 12. Advantage threatens a $500 charge for lost key fobs. In a way, they lost our key fob. I'll be waiting for that $500 cheque.

DO NOT rent from this company. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. We noticed problems with our rental car within minutes as we were driving it off the lot. We were having issues starting the car and got a warning stating “Key ID incorrect”. A day later we got a low tire pressure warning. Then 6 days into our rental, our car would no longer start at all. We popped the hood and saw the negative terminal on the battery was completely corroded. They came out and had to replace our car, and because we declined roadside assistance we had to pay for this. While this place may be cheaper than some other options, you get what you pay for. Stick with a major national brand and avoid this company. Also, the customer service over the phone is awful and the lines at the counter are ridiculously long - expect to wait at least an hour to pickup your car.

Overbooked..Appear to be less concerned with good customer experience than with their profits. The line was extremely long then they did not have the vehicle I had reserved 3 months prior. Representative asked me to wait to the side for "10 minutes", stating my vehicle was being washed. One hr. later the vehicle was ready. Total wait time: 90 minutes. Would give one star but the lot attendant was nice and efficient for the return.

Part of the on site rental car center at the airport, thank goodness. Easy to find, and the cars were close by too. Car that I rented was clean, freshly washed and worked well. Instead of having someone in a booth check you out at the exit of the garage, you complete a self inspection form, drop it in their boxes, then leave with your car. Service at the counter was great, they let me know up front they were short on cars, and that I may have to wait (waited like 5 mins). As with any discount agency of any kind, there is good and there bad.advantage Rent-A-Car at the Pal Beach airport is not as bad as the worst reviews, nor is it as good as the best reviews. I've tried to end detailed and go beyond the platitudes or vitriol and present a clear picture of what you can expect. But bottom line: if you have time to wait, don't care about car rental insurance, and don't have questions they can only be answered by the local representative, advantage maybe for you. If you expect an on-airport, full service agency with excellent customer Service, you'll have a lot to think about. Since the cons in some cases far outweigh the pros, I will start with those. first, if you're in a hurry, and want to get from point a to point B quickly, advantage may not be for you. The car rental agency is 4.1 miles away from the Fort Myers airport. You'll either have to wait for a shuttle or take a cab for a ride that lasts between 11 and 13 minutes. Then, once you get to the rental car agency, they only have one person behind the counter. If you are third or fourth in line, waiting for your car, you can expect to spend at least another 30 minutes and probably closer to 45 waiting to pick up your car. You could, literally, spend 90 minutes or more between waiting for the shuttle, taking the ride to advantage, waiting in line, and, finally, signing your papers. optional car insurance is also insanely priced at $27 per day, more than twice that of more traditional car rental agencies. If you don't buy the insurance, this is not a big deal. But for those who are like me, and who are risk adverse, this actually eats up a chunk of the savings. Most annoying, to me anyway, is the inability to reach a human being at the local car rental agency itself. Advantage tries to make you go through an 800 number to a call center has clearly been Outsourced because the alleged customer service reps know almost nothing beyond the answers given to them in a script. so if you're in a hurry, if you want to spend a reasonable price for the car rental insurance, consider closely examining what you get elsewhere. But there are some pros. The staff at advantage -- at least the one at the Fort Myers location -- was very friendly and helpful. The car rental rate of less than $10 a day is very hard to beat --- make that, really, impossible to beat. Even with the insane insurance price, it is still less expensive the Avis orHertz or one of the more traditional rental car agencies, though not by much. I only ended up saving about $40 overall for the course of my stay, which at the end of the day, would not have been worth the wait and travel time to the advantage offsite rental agency, the wait while there, and the horribly uninformed car rental agency. How uninformed? I asked whether I could get a cab to the agency is I needed, and the response was, L don't know, we are not a cab company. But if the incredibly low low price will outweigh any of the inconveniences mentioned above, advantage may be for you. It won't be for me in the future. .

I rented a Toyota sienna from your Honolulu airport location on 6/03/19. While driving to Pearl Harbor, we noticed a weird sound. We parked it and went to visit Pearl Harbor. We then got back in and went to get dinner. It was still making the sound, so when we got there, I got out and looked and discovered the tie rod wasn't even connected to the strut. Now, I build the Sienna's at the Toyota plant in Indiana and actually have worked on the line where that part is installed. With my knowledge of this, I know that this can cause loss of steering. Your company endangered the lives of 7 people by allowing us to drive off of your lot with it in this condition. I tried to contact your customer service with 5 different phone calls and it kept hanging up on me. I tried contacting your roadside assistance and actually talked to someone 3 times and was hung up on 3 times. I reluctantly drove it back to your location at Honolulu airport and returned around 8:10 at which time I informed the check in agent of the situation. She wrote on the windshield to take vehicle out of service and told us to go inside and talk with the manager at the desk. We went inside and asked to speak with him and the lady behind the desk called him. He said he would be right in. We waited for 20 mins, and no show. We had to catch a flight, so we asked for his number and wrote ours down and they told us he would contact us the next day. We waited all day for a phone call, and nothing until 2:44 when they called me and let me know that they hadn't recieved the vehicle and wanted to know where it was at. I called them back and told them ALL of this and they said they would "escalate this and call me back directly". I still haven't heard back from them so I decided to call the customer service number again. They asked me for the pics I had of the tie rod that wasnt connected and told me they were going to turn it over to the branch that I rented from. Really?!?!?! You're going to turn it back over to the people that cant even find the car now?!?! C'mon, I mean WOW!!! One of the worst company's I have had the displeasure of dealing with. I will be letting everyone I know about their business practices and their negligence and willingness to endanger the lives of their customers and their families. Update-Obviously they don't read or care about the reviews. If they did they would have seen that I tried to contact customer service 5 times and finally did get ahold of them at which point they said they were going to turn it over to the local branch. The local branch did get ahold of me. They were finally able to locate the car which was parked by one of their employees in a location they normally dont park returned vehicles. Also, even though I repeated lly told them I didn't want or need any compensation, they applied a 20% discount to the cost of the rental. This equates to $7.24. It's nice to know they value my life and everybody in that vehicles lives at $1.04 apiece. NEVER do business with them.

The good - friendly people in customer service. I was surprised the folks at the desk were so willing to chat; there were like 75 people in line behind me. 75 people were visible anyway. I suspect more were around the corner. The bad - 2+ hour wait in line to pick up the car. People were lying on the ground, no kidding. And you know what made it hard? Looking at the other rental company desks, and seeing folks get in and out within minutes. That was tough to watch. Then I got my car. It was rough. Big scratches up and down both sides (someone had obviously keyed it), big dents, stained seats. Returning the car was pretty easy, and like I said, friendly folks, so can’t go one star here, as much as I want to. I kept looking for the “Advantage” suggested by the name, but never found it. We will use another company next time.

Don’t get me wrong.. their rates are great and my rental was just what I needed.. BUT... It has been EIGHT DAYS since I returned my rental. Since returning my rental I have been contacting them about my credit card hold that has been held since. They will tell you “it’s your card company” but it really isn’t. Finally after messaging and messaging, they sent me a random email of my “final invoice” and dropped the $200 hold. Why even hold for that long when I’m sure the car I used was rented out at least 1-2 (maybe even more) times since? Try to charge me for something I didn’t do maybe.. Budget dropped my hold before I even walked off their lot. I wouldn’t recommend renting with this company.

Recently rented a car in Honolulu for a week of travel on the island. The company has competitively priced options - more affordable than others. Counter service, pick up and return were easy to navigate. In addition, besides having a good selection of cars, there isn't any effort to pressure you into additional insurance or extras. They do a good job of displaying the information and will, of course, tell you about options if you ask. They also have a complimentary rewards program you can join for free upgrades and such. Second time I have rented from them. Can't beat the price. Definitely recommend them if you are there - and would rent from them in other locations.

I rented a full-size vehicle from Advantage and, overall, was pleased with the experience. The rates were much better than their competitors. The car was available as promised and the customer service was helpful, informative and polite. The line, however, was another story. We must have waited in line 30-40 minutes, which is unacceptable. They need to figure out a way to staff the counter more efficiently so that tired travelers can move on with the rest of their vacation. On the other hand, the return process was easy and straightforward. No hassles there.

I used Advantage Rent a Car on several occasions now and always had very good experience. It’s usually cheaper than competitors, cars are nice and they don’t blindside you with some unexpected fees. Recently rent a car at Ft Myers airport location and had good experience again. Will be using in the future.

I was in there today getting a mustang convertible because I wanted something with style for our getaway and the granny vanny and SUV isn't it so we rented. It has been a long time since I have but debra was great!!!! So sweet and she did everything quickly. I even arrived early. Luis was very Informative on how to use the convertible top considering it's been a long time since I've drove one lol. The car could have been a little bit cleaner but again I arrived an hour and A 1/2 early so they just did a once over to get me out of there quickly again I arrived a 1 1/2 hours early so they just it a wash over to get me out of there quickly. Which is fine it wasn't really dirty. Debra made the whole experience amazing though thank you debra and advantage!

Pass windshield had dead mosquito stuck on INSIDE, driver side had gorp stuck on inside. I scraped that off with thumbnail. Booked a Camry, was given a gas guzzling Highlander. "Local Fees and Taxes" added another $74 to the cost. Never again......are you listening disAdvantage?

I had a very good rate for my weekly rental. When I picked up the car I was bullied into buying the insurance which made the rental twice the price.The agent was not willing to accept the $80 insurance I bought from Orbit even though it was advertised with Orbits and Advantage car rental on the same site. She could have cared less, then I asked that my husband be an extra driver and she mumbled ok but failed to disclose there would be an additional fee. Again she could care less. So on top of them rushing you through the process over charging you, you get super awful customer service at this location from Cynthia. I was up very early for my travels and buy the time I was done at the counter I felt even worse and taken advantage of. I am a travel agent for many years and though my nice low rate I booked had me use Advantage car company I will never book with them again and or recommend them to clients.

I pre paid for an SUV which they advertise, arrived at the agency very late at night and came across a very nice but untrained rep, took him around 20 minuts to fill the contract and to my surprise he told me that the only cars they have for me is either a big van or a Toyota Corrola. I took the Toyota which was not at it's best. I am very disappointed.

RENTER BEWARE - can't give it zero, but would if I could. 3rd party quotes you on one rate and then they upgrade you even if you decline, charge you for it, and don't take it off the charge when you come back. SHADY. You might save money, but it's not worth the hassle. If you book at RSW, most legitimate car rental agencies are right across from the terminal. This one is a drive on a shuttle, and not terribly close.

Took 90 minutes waiting in line at the rental counter. Check-in clerk was helpful and friendly, but said the line is always this long. I rented a “premium car” and got a base Toyota Camry. The car we got had large dents in both the front and rear bumper, and one of the quarter panels. The front bumper was partially detached on the right side. The interior was filthy... probably hasn’t been vacuumed in weeks. Won’t be renting from Advantage again!

They said they had no economy or anything smaller, the only they had left we’re premium and would charge me for that. Front desk women was rude, manager was rude. Huge line and the slowest agents I've ever experienced. They were more concerned with pushing upgrades and insurance than customer care. I'm assuming this is how they were trained. I don't need to be shamed for declining insurance. The vehicle was dirty inside and out. I felt the need to photograph the entire outside of the car in order to protect myself from any false claims of damage.

It is walking distance from the airport. There was a long line when I got there around 8pm. they offer cheaper car options than other company, but the insurance they offer is expensive. The cheapest insurance option was $28 per day. The total cost became a lot larger than what i thought. I would choose another company next time.

Would not accept a bank Visa gift card...we.put our money on girt card instead of carrying cash...we had to pay with credit card....Bank says if they accept visa they should have accept our gift card. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. No-one at the desk when we arrived, no apology from the receptionist when she arrived 20 minutes later. Car great, but unfortunately this company left us abandoned at a remote roadside with no access to our belongings when the keys were locked inside, with the call centre for roadside assistance apologising to us that no help would be coming because nobody at Advantage Honolulu Airport was answering the phone. One of us suffered Unbelievably negligent company with no care whatsoever for customer welfare. We were told we'd now be charged for damage to the vehicle which resulted from us having to force entry into the car as a last resort.

Terrible experience. The line was very long, we waited for over 2 hours to get to the counter. At the counter they did not have any compact cars left, which is what we had reserved a month earlier. At the counter we were told that the only ‘compact car’ they had left was a sports car. A sports car could not accommodate our needs as there were 3 of us. We were told if we wanted a different vehicle we had to pay a fee to upgrade. They also charged a lot more for insurance than anywhere else we have rented a car. We wasted a lot of money renting a car here, go somewhere else! At least then if you get overcharged you didn’t waste 2 hours of your vacation standing in line.

We had to wait in line for 2 and a half hours to get our rental car. We paid extra for a mid size suv and got a tiny hatchback Mazda 3 that couldn't even fit both of our mid sized suitcases in the back. This vehicle is way smaller than a rav 4. I could have went to Hertz and got a full size suv for almost $100 less and it would have been bigger than this Mazda 3. unfortunately has the be the worst experience ive ever The associate at the front desk told me a two-hour wait in line was average...

They don't seem to send shuttles ever. people were actually taking Ubers to get their rental car and by that point you would save more money just by renting a car at the airport. When I called I was just told that the drivers were busy. But so many other choices I don't see why people should pick this one.

We waited in line for nearly 2 hours, then had to wait for our car to be cleaned (which was supposed to have been ready 5 hours prior, thanks to an additional 3 hour flight delay). They offered a different size car, but we would have had to pay the difference, or pay the same amount for a smaller car. No apology, no discount, no coupon. They make the contract so we have to just deal with it. Ridiculous.

Our first time using Advantage was excellent! So of course we came back even though it’s not on site at the airport. This time our original $278 bill from online went to $514.00 with a $12.99 upgrade for 6 days! Figure that out?!? When we saw that amount on the hard copy we said NO not doing that but the agent said DON’T WORRY $200 comes off that! She wasn’t talking about that amount she was talking about a TINY LITTLE $714 on the left side of the paper!!!! Very disappointed to say the least! If we wanted to pay $515 we’d renters from Avis or Hertz!

We were fortunate to arrive when there was no line and we walked right up to the customer service agent. She was awesome! Because we picked up the car 10 min early there was going to ba an extra charge (we were told the charge is from the booking agency, not the car rental company). So she prepared the paperwork and timed things for us to activate our paperwork right at the schedule time to avoid the extra charge. She also told us not to bring the car back early as a way to avoid yet another extra charge. Very helpful, and the car we rented is great!

There was a long waiting line to get our rental car but the lady at the counter was very friendly. I'm giving them a 5 star because we unexpectedly got a flat tire on our 2nd day of vacation. I called them on what I needed to do. To make a long story short, customer service rep on the phone told us to bring the car back and get a replacement. When I got there, Ipo assessed the car and gave us a few short and clear instructions on how to get the replacement vehicle. We were on our way in no time!! Thanks, Ipo!

I paid for a full-size car, but upon arrival was given a Chevy Malibu, which is a MID-SIZE car. The attendant said it was a full-size car, and I spoke with the manager by phone, who said it was a full-size car. The manager was rude, belligerent, & talked down to me and over me for nearly the entire conversation. After the manager HUNG UP on me, the counter attended Googled "what class of vehicle is a Chevy Malibu" and saw that it was a MID-SIZE vehicle, but there were no full-sizes left for me. In short, the attendant was overworked (she was the only one working and there was line almost out the door), and it wasn't her fault. The manager was extremely rude and didn't seem to care. The only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1 or zero is because the MID-SIZE car they gave was nice.

Terrible experience - they rented me a car that was only 1/2 full with gas. They noted it and said I could return it the same - WRONG. They charged me 65 dollars for not returning the car full. The individual that was checking us in said there was nothing he could do. I emailed Advantage and have heard nothing back. Needless to say we won’t use this rental company again.

The advantage office location is not located at the airport in Ft Myers. Other rental companies are. We had an early flight out and called the office to mak sure shuttles would be running at 4:30. They told us they would not be. After booking Uber to return the car the night before and take us back to the airport early, we find out that the shuttle did run early. We spent an additional 45$ that was unnecessary because of incorrect information. Also it took 25 minutes on hold prior to being connected to someone in customer service. Wish they would have taken the time to get correct information!!

Advantage rent a car is awesome. Super fast, friendly service. The best part is that car return/pick up is right next to the airport. You can walk and don't need to take a shuttle. If your flight is on United Airlines, the car return is directly next door.

Overall, we had a fine experience at this location. I wouldn't say the customer service was anything spectacular.... but we also didn't have a horrible experience. We had a new 2015 Toyota Camry rental with less than 10k miles, so it was in excellent condition. We had no issues or unexpected fees added on at check out. It was the price that we were quoted from the beginning. I would probably rent from them again if we go back.

Nov 1, 2018 One hour wait to pick up rental. Triple the price of the rental than was estimated. They tried to tell me that my car was no longer available because my plane was delayed one hour. Then they found another vehicle to rent me when I wouldn't have it. Car was scratched up. The only positive is the clerk was very friendly, making the best of it, I think he should find another job. I do not recommend going with Advantage.

Customer service was top notch, however the car was filthy. Even found a mini bottle as we stepped in. Had it not been for a long day of travel, I would have requested a new/cleaner car. It was just really grimy and needed a detail on the inside. For a 30k vehicle, it looked like someone spent a lot of time in it making it dirty.

Booked a rental at Fort Myers from Aug 6th -10th with Hotwire. We got a quote of $122.69 for Toyota Rav 4 or similar. When we went to pick up our vehicle, we did add 2 extra driversand our new total came to $315.00.They did not offer an upgrade as we did not ask, but told us we were getting a Hyundai Santa Fe. The next moring I noticed we were charged for an Upgrade and called them and was told we should not have been charged for an Upgrade. We returned the car on the Sat (as it was 100 mls to go and amend the paperwork so we left it till then)We were told that someone would call us. No one called. When I got the charge from the credit card company i disputed the $54.95 upgrade, and it went back and forth. I just called them now and they are trying to say we upgraded to a Hynudai Santa Fe which is totally false. In fact both the Toyota Rav 4 and Hyundai Santa Fe are almost the same size when I looked up the details. I have booked with them several times in the past, and never had a problem, so I do not know what happened to them Just telling people out there to beware, and I see there are a lot of other complaints against them also.

Terrible experience. Spend the extra $20 and rent from a decent brand. The car was scratched on all sides. They tried way too hard to upsell me on insurance packages. I returned the car completely full of gas and the guy who checked me out said I was all set...good thing I checked the receipt they emailed me a few hours later. They charged me $125 refuel charge! I called the customer service number on the receipt and the number was bad. I finally found a good number on Google. The lady was nice, but not helpful. She told me to email customer service with the gas receipt and said she did not have the number for the specific location. I asked to speak with her manager and she found every excuse not to put me through. Also while I was waiting on the shuttle to go to the airport there were three different people in the office disputing charges. The place is an absolute joke and I’ll never skimp out on rental cars again.

Absolute scam of a company. Booked a car for a recent trip. When I showed up, no shuttle came so I called the number provided, 5 times, over 45 minutes. No answer. Finally gave up and got an uber. When I called the national help line, it was a guy in India who said there was nothing he could do. Lost the money on the rental and had to pay for ubers for the weekend. Do. Not. Rent!

I wish I had good things to say but I don’t. Poor customer service, this is a offsite company so you have to call for the shuttle to pick you up. When I called I was told that it was on the way and not to call again because they were to busy. Once I arrived by shuttle I was greeted by lazy workers. Once I was done with the rental the return process confirmed the laziness and bare bones operation that they are running. I pulled the van up to the return lane I was told by the customers waiting the exact process as there was no one present during the return process. Bottom line spend a few extra dollars and stick with the bigger carriers

Do not rent car from them! Lost key charges $500+tax (~$600!!!), which is ridiculously higher than other rentals. In addition, the customer service does not even know how to contact the rental counter and simply suggested us to call locksmith. Finally, we spent $120 on Uber to get the second key from the counter and went back to the rent car.

The front desk worker was amazing...He helped me.with directions and answered all of my questions....I got a full sized car...quickly through the paperwork I was on my way to the car stall #44... I looked at what was in stall #44 a beat up car...it was a charger with chips and dents on the exterior, all around the bumpers were scratched....but that was the best part of the car.....when I opened the door I was amazed that someone let this car get back into the rental rotation... surely some made a mistake...the interior has discoloration on the seats in both the front and back seats...the doors were literally falling off... Where the door rubber/plastic interior meets the window it was falling off ...I could look down the window and see inside the door...just sad that things are not fixed......and ohh by the way...$26/day for the car rental..$32/day for insurance...and that was the basic....just letting you know that at Advantage it's only about discounts..don't expect anything pretty that you will be driving....UPDATE...ITS BEEN TWO DAYS SINCE I SENT EMAIL TO CUSTOMER SERVICE.....NO RESPONSE YET.....

Adavantage over charged me and would not adjust my invoice. They advertise a low daily rate of $35 per day. They have tons of extra fees and taxes. I needed 2 more hours beyond my return time the following day. I called they said it would be $13.00 to have the extra 2 hours. They charged me $68.00 extra and accused me of bringing the car back later than promised. They argued would not let me speak to a supervisor my $35.00 one day car rental escalated upto $125.00

We showed up and the lady was trying to tell us we needed to get all these added types of insurance ( I found out my credit card already covered us with insurance.) She then tried to upsell us to pay for tolls The sunpass thing.) I understand that you're just doing your job - Several stupid things happened after this - They were rude and gave us a diesel car which we didn't want She said that's the only option we get and we can't get a regular car. - The car's' Bluetooth was so messed up and kept working only half the time. - They said if we wanted to add the sunpass that it would have to be added for the entirety of our car rental which was way too expensive. - Then we dropped it off with a full tank of gas and cleaned the car out But they decided to charge my credit card $10.99 Per gallon saying that we dropped it off with an empty tank. I called and questioned this charge - They then told me I needed to prove that we filled the tank up. I'm sorry but that is very unprofessional. I did go ahead and show them my credit card receipts. - Once we dropped it off we were rushed out of the car and didn't even go in to the store and they told me to leave the keys in the ignition. (I forgot that my house key and gym membership was on that.) So it took them several days to find my missing keys. Then they tried to charge me $32 to ship it back. That's insane $32 to ship 1 house key and a gym membership tag? So i asked if i give them a prepaid shipping label and then have USPS come pick it up if they could do that, and they said no it has to be through their shipping service. (OF COURSE so they can charge you for everything.) This has not been a good experience.

Returning my car rented in the morning the 4th day, I think they charged me the fourth day. I never complain about it. I wasn't happy about it. The person I rented it from was not the same person that received the rented car. I also filled the gas tank beforehand.

The staff whom helped us wasn’t pleasant talk to after we turned down the insurance, don’t make me wrong, we love to have insurance and we purchase insurance already when booked the reservation on Expedia... for your note, if you use anything more than a day, add one more day, don’t let them charge you hourly rate!!! . They charge $22+ an hour for extra, my daily rate was $66 .... so we went over 3 hours and got charged for a daily rate , lol... the car we got, exterior was damaged all over and interior was Very Very Very dirty !!! Beware this agency is NOT located at the airport as advertised. You have to wait on a shuttle to transport you over 5 miles offsite. Vehicles are absolutely FILTHY!!!!!!! Disgusting!! We were given keys to 3 before finding one we would even consider putting our bodies or luggage inside of. Then, we were charged an upgrade fee of $15/day for a “premium” car because their cleaning crew is inept at cleaning the car we paid for in our rental. Awful experience. Oh, and the “premium” car is 6 years old with over 50,000 miles on it! Will never ever rent from this terrible company!!

In my experience renting I had never received a excellent service like in advantege in Fort Myer, especially from Mr. Mario a men with a great heart and with the best customer service the number 1 and the best ever Thanks to Mario everything has been much easier thanks Mario Advantage should have more people like him

Signed up for small car was told very basic no power windows, 2 door,uncomfortable etc. Pressured to up grade for higher fee. Agent Debra told us to hurry and make up our minds other people in line! There was only 1 person in line. Ended up with KIA soul which she said was new . It had many dents dings and scratches. Took pictures as proof. I did not even see a small economy car on the lot. ScamScam!! Opted out of EZtoll agreement . She asked if going to Sanabel said yes. She was rude and said very snotty like"make sure to go thru cash lane not Ez toll or would get charged fee+toll. We went thru cash lane but She did not tell us to get receipt. We now have a charge on our credit card for toll+fee of $31.00. Called Advantage &toll admin. they can't do anything without receipt. They said call Ft Myers location to dispute. Surprise!! They don't answer or return messages!!! I feel this is a scam as Debra mentioned Sanabel specifically. But again did not tell us to get receipt. Will never use Advantage again. Had to give 1 star just to post this!!

Advantage always has reasonable to very good rates and my experience has always been excellent from the agents to the rental car I received. Also, on occasions when I have had to extend my rental, they have always honored my original rate without an upcharge. I can easily highly recommend them as my preferred car rental agency.

Do not rent from these people! Extremely poor, slow service. Over an hour and a half standing in line to get a prepaid vehicle. Then another 30 minutes when you got to the counter. All after ordering and paying online. If wasnt prepaid would have cancelled. Extremely poor service

When picking up the car, the woman we dealt with was incredibly rude. We prepaid for the car with a debit card and they told us it is a high risk card (being a debit card) and we will be charged an extra $20 per day because of it. They also badgered us to use their insurance which was an extra $45 per day bringing the total to $90 per day for a Nissan Vista. Our personal auto insurance covers us anywhere in the US for rental vehicles and we were not about to pay for it. Bringing the car back was fine. We were in and out.
