Reserved intermediate suv through Costco rental cars. Wanted something with good tire tread and AWD. After arriving at the lot I walked down the intermediate suv row to find these model options: Hyundai Kona Hyundai Tucson Toyota RAV4 Nissan Rogue Mazda CX-5 (only one that someone was hoping in, they do look nice) All of the above where the AWD version of that model, very happy to see that. Checking tire tread (on each, except the Mazda as it was on its way out) showed they were all in good condition and with more thread than the Colorado tire thread (1/8 inch) requirements when the traction law is in effect on i70. Please look this up before going over the passes. I chose the Rogue, it seemed to have the most thread, probably because it only had about 750 miles! It had remote start, Android auto, Auto lift gate. All I enjoyed, I wouldn't buy one for my own car as I found the seat hugging my hips like many small SUVs do, but great rental. Decent gas mileage and gas price was around 1.90 in Denver to 2.30 in the mountains during my trip. At the rental counter, they will encourage you to upgrade to a standard suv if you're heading up the mountains as all of the above vehicles have the 4 cylinder engines. I don't think that is necessary for just one or two people. Just get used to higher rpm on mountain passes, they can handle it, drive a little slower if needed. For those curious, the standard SUV selection was much smaller, a couple Dodge journey's and a Ford edge being driven away, both with v6 engines. They just seem like old models compared to the smaller intermediate suv line up. Had a friend rent an edge from another company without remote start, he was very jealous of the rogue in single digit weather. I put about 570 miles on the Rogue going to Aspen, Copper, and Winter Park, from Sunny conditions to traction law required over mountain passes. The tires were over inflated, but I left them that way as with the temperature, they went from 36-40psi from cold start to highway, manufacture recommendation on that car is 33. (Center info screen tells you) I'm wondering if Alamo does that on purpose to prevent the tpms sensor from turning on and worrying renters. Returned vehicle about as clean on the inside as I received it. The outside was filthy from the roads. Drop off was quick, I spent more time gathering my own belongings than for a representative to print a receipt. The shuttle was already waiting to go to the airport.

We did the expedited pick up which saved the normal hassle of standing in line. We got off the shuttle, showed our paperwork, and hopped in the car. The easiest rental experience yet. On our last day our Jeep wouldn’t start, so they sent someone to swap it out at our hotel. We were so thankful they took care of it with no issues. Would use them again!

Amazing people and great service. The rental guy was amazing. Then when my flight got canceled they were super helpful. After I had an issue with the actual Alamo 844 number representatives this branch was super helpful once again. I was never going to use Alamo again because of the corporation side of this company until i dealt with the people at this branch. The Colorado airport Alamo staff are amazing so helpful and understanding. So if you need anything just call the branch dont waste your time with the 844 number.

Honestly the best rental car experience I've ever had. I had made a reservation for an intermediate SUV via Costco for a frankly amazing price (~$250 for an 8 day rental). Note that this price was quite variable and I cancelled/rebooked (for free) as my original reservation was > $450. When I arrived at Alamo, there was no line, service was prompt and pleasant, and most importantly there was no upsell of insurance products etc, as I had my own insurance. I was given a choice of cars in the lot and took the recommendation of a Jeep Cherokee as it had manually-adjustable AWD (all other intermediate SUVs had AWD/4WD, but this was controlled manually). The car was in near-perfect condition and had only 10k miles on the clock. It handled like a dream going up the mountains even in a bad snowstorm. I would actively seek to rent with Alamo (via Costco) next I'm in need of a car in Denver.

The initial rental guy was annoying trying to sell me every possible upgrade/insurance/gas. Then they didn't have my vehicle anyway and offered a free upgrade. When I didn't want any of the upgrades, I took a downgrade and they said the guy at the exit gate would credit me. So now we have loaded all our stuff in the car, drove to the exit gate and have people waiting behind me and the guard says he doesn't do that. At this point I'm happy with the car I have and am just ready to leave, so away we went. At this point I may just not use Alamo next time. Why would I give them 4 stars? When I returned the car, the girl checking in the car asked me how everything was. She seemed sincere so I quickly asked about the discount. She could have let it go because she obviously doesn't handle that function. She asked a few questions, even though they were very busy. Got the person who could help me. Explained it briefly. He asked me and then actually did something about it. The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because I didn't have to get angry or raise my voice or complain excessively for him to take action. His name is Jared and this was in the Denver International Airport Alamo xar return area. He was sincerely interested in making sure I had a good experience. AND Alamo gave him the authority to take action, right there on the spot. I didn't have to call some 800 number and submit my receipts and write an essay to the president of Alamo before someone did something. It was a breath of fresh air and was greatly appreciated. Hopefully someone at Alamo sees this and acknowledges Jared and the girl working with him that brought this to his attention. They turned a negative situation into a positive. That's not always easy to do.

The car, the price, and the ease of pickup and drop off were great. The lady who issued me a car was pretty rough. She was excessively pushy in her attempts to sell me extra services and even was noticeably upset that I would not choose to purchase them. I reserved a car from Denver to Durango with my debit card. They wouldn't give me the car because of the debit card policy (in order to use a debit you have to have proof of a return flight). This is absolutely horrendous, I have no return flight because I am moving here. So now I'm stuck at the Denver airport all because I don't have a credit card or return flight. There's more than enough in my account but they didn't care. Thanks Alamo for leaving me stranded at the airport with my life in bags... awful, if I could give no stars I would.

Employees were professional and efficient, not as friendly as some locations but not unfriendly either. Paid for a rental car for 6 days and it was close to $500, not to mention when I arrived they charged me another $400 (after they had already ran my card). It took three rounds of shuttles to finally get an Alamo to pick us up as we watched all the other brands continuously come and go. When I got to the desk the guy just wanted to upsell everything including a larger car for an additional $25 a day. After I turned everything down ended up giving me a full size car anyway because that's all they had. So he was trying to upsell me to something I was going to get anyway!. I would still use Alamo but just be aware of the strong-arm tactics which is pretty standard with any rental car company to be honest.

When we arrived we were given a free upgrade because our vehicle class was unavailable. The customer service was good. Later in our rental we found a bolt in our tire and called roadside assistance. They told us if we could make it to the rental place we could just swap out vehicles and not worry about having to have the tire repaired. We had no trouble with our rental and the customer service was very good. Alamo will definitely be on my repeat list for car rentals!

Like other reviews, I rented a car for a week at what I assumed to be a reasonable rate. To have an extra $200 show up on our credit card statement (no receipt was sent directly to me) was quite the surprise! Follow that with terrible customer service and a complete run around of taxes and fees that were never mentioned before...definitely cements we will not be renting from this company again.

But my wife was persuaded by the upsell to a much pricier VW SUV for supposedly a stronger engine for going up to Breckenridge, but it performed like a pretty wimpy 4 cylinder, that sputtered on starts before we even left Denver. Haven't completed our rental yet.

I just can recommend Alamo, before to rent with them I saw some negative review, but when I took my car in Denver agency, two hours after someone have hit my car while I was ready to sleep, and at this moment for me my holidays was finished. I contacted the customer service then went to Alamo agency in Denver and 1:30 hours after, they gave me a new car to go until San Francisco. I'm very very very satisfied about them services and the staff who were very professional and friendly, they did the best for me to find a new car. Alamo saved us after we were totally screwed by another company. Our confirmed reservation was canceled when we got to the first company’s offices. It was 10:00pm and we had flown all day, our body clocks were telling us it was midnight, and we had an hour and a half drive to our hotel ahead of us. They left us on a freezing cold sidewalk to fend for ourselves. We were grateful to make a quick online reservation with Alamo, found a way to get there, and we were treated amazingly well by the customer service agent. We had a car and were on our way in less than 10 minutes. Thank you Alamo! They’ve earned our business and trust for life.
